Boconnoc Estate, Lostwithiel, Cornwall, UK - Explore & Book

"Welcome to Cornwall’s biggest private estate, where 600 acres of woodland, pastures, streams, lakes and gardens are yours to roam at leisure. I felt like lady of the manor as we bumbled along the private driveway - a long meander through the fairytale scenery. If only we’d come by horse-drawn carriage to arrive in true style! We pulled up at the handsome stone manor house, a rhododendron bush loaded with pink blooms framing the grand entrance. Weddings and formal events take place here, but it’s what lies above that piques our interest: a cluster of cute, self-catering cottages which lord it over the grounds likes the birds of Boconnoc’s dovecote (yes, there are actual white doves living in it). Each house has been decorated by leading designer Sarah Fortescue (whose family owns the estate), her playful and daring taste inspired by the vivid blooms of the gardens. Elsewhere on your private estate (max capacity: 50) there’s a deer park, a tennis court, a dainty church, and an old Stable Yard that’s been fashioned into a socialising area with bar and games room. Boconnoc feels like an exclusive mini village - there’s even a post box - but the atmosphere is relaxed and not remotely stuffy. It’s a soul-cleansing place - the air is so clean here that a rare form of lichen thrives in the woods. Bring the family or a group of friends for a celebration, day-tripping to Fowey and the pretty beaches of Cornwall’s south coast, and then returning to cocoon yourself in nature. Cycle through the deer park, take a boat out on the lake, stroll the pinetum - carpeted in bluebells in May - and let the kids run free. Barbecues and pizza nights make for fun evenings together, and there’s a kitchen garden where you can forage for your ingredients. You’d never believe all this lies in waiting just a few km from Lostwithiel and the south coast. What a way to experience Cornwall. Highs The amount of private outdoor space you get here is astonishing, comprising gardens, a lake, a deer park, a river and woodland The range of cottages will suit varying group sizes - from families of 4 to parties of 14 (or more if booking multiple cottages): it's the perfect set-up for a big celebration or gathering This is an incredible place for kids, with wide-ranging facilities incorporating a games room, sports equipment, a craft room, a gypsy caravan and a tennis court Although it’s a self-catering place, friendly staff are on hand should you require anything during your stay Lots of Cornwall’s best attractions are nearby (Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Fowey) Lows Hard to find. Satnav takes you in the wrong way, and you'll need to navigate a maze of dark lanes to drive out for dinner Boconnoc is also a wedding venue, so some summer weekends are blocked out (the houses aren’t available then, so you won’t be sharing the space with wedding guests) The interiors, particularly in the Dairy House, are bold and eye-catching rather than classically elegant The coast isn’t far away but the country lanes make access to beaches a little slow" - Lucy Richardson

We’d like to send a huge thank you to the Boconnoc team for helping us create an absolutely perfect wedding day. From the moment we got engaged on site, it was the only place we could imagine getting married. We’re very grateful to the team for all their help in enabling us to have our big day at a place so special to my family, where my Grandad worked for many years. All of the staff are wonderful, friendly and ready to go beyond for us. Some perfect examples being poor Jamie-Lee having to scour the floor with me to find broken pieces of a special cake decoration. Or Catherine staying late to help us get the house set-up and constantly reassuring me everything was under control. Or Sima remembering that we’d requested to use the red lanterns my Grandad made, when this important detail had actually gotten lost to me in amongst all the rest of the planning. Everyone was fantastic at helping bring our ideas to life and we can’t imagine how the day could have been more perfect. The moment we met Louise we knew everything was in safe hands. She and the team worked so seamlessly with the suppliers to keep the day flowing as planned. It’s a testament to their professionalism that we didn’t have to think about anything at all, other than enjoying the moment and spending time with our guests all day. We’ve had countless comments from guests about how beautiful a setting the estate was and loved getting to share it with them. And it was an added bonus for them to be able to spend some time exploring the estate the next day too. Being able to have people stay on site was the cherry on top as we got to see everyone at breakfast the next morning - the perfect wrap up to our celebrations. We also really appreciated the supplier list the venue provided, having used a caterer (Dish), florist (Garden Gate) and bar (Sauce) off the list and found them all to be absolute dreams to work with. We can’t recommend Boconnoc enough and absolutely look forward to coming to stay again in the future.

Boconnoc was the only wedding venue we visited, and we knew we didn’t need to look any further. The grounds are beautiful, providing everything we wanted for our wedding weekend. However, what truly sold us on Boconnoc was the people. Catherine, Louise, Liz, and the entire team were amazing from the moment we met them, they were welcoming, helpful, and incredibly kind. They take great pride in the estate, ensuring that you can fully utilize the space in a way that suits your vision and plans. Nothing was too much trouble! Our weekend was truly memorable and felt very personal, bringing together our roots of Australia, New Zealand and Cornwall. We’ll always be grateful to have gotten married at such a beautiful place, but even more so for the support of such wonderful people. We know we’ll be back to Bocconoc for anniversaries. It’s become a very special place for us. Charlie & Jeremy

Went to a steam fair at Boconnoc, and I had a fantastic day with family. Plenty of toilets around and all clean. The staff were helpful though the burgers and soft drinks were a bit expensive.

If you're considering, even for a second, having your Pride and Prejudice meets Bridgerton dream wedding in the English Countryside, The Boconnoc Estate is the place. Not only for the views, grounds, and accommodations, but for the incredible team who truly go above and beyond to make every moment of your special day(s) feel exceptional. We were on the estate for 3 nights and 4 days for our New Year's Eve wedding with 85 guests. The perfection we experienced as the bride and groom was the result of hundreds, if not thousands, of little moments carefully orchestrated by the team over our four days at Boconnoc. After the wedding, our family and friends shared vignettes of how the Boconnoc team not only went beyond for us, but also for our loved ones. I cannot recommend it enough. The photos don't even begin to do it justice, but here are just a handful of the ways Boconnoc transformed for all phases of our wedding festivities.

Where to even begin with this amazing wedding venue. We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding at Boconnoc, from our first visit to our wedding 18 months later the staff went above and beyond helping with whatever was needed ( including a last minute change of ceremony location due to rain, making the bride hot honey and lemon as she’d lost her voice and even laundering our personalised napkins for guests to take home). Special mentions to Louise, Catherine and Sima for everything they did, it truely meant the world to us! The rooms are also stunning and so well maintained, each with their own unique twist. The grounds are so beautifully maintained and the maintenance team made sure everything was perfect, including taking the bride in a golf buggy so she didn’t get wet in the rain. We really couldn’t recommend them enough!! They will do anything to make sure your day runs smoothly. We can’t wait to return for our first wedding anniversary.

We had the pleasure of filming and photographing a wedding here a few years back. The venue has beautiful grounds, and the rooms in the house were stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed working here and look forward to returning soon. James and Kylie (Storybox Films & Photography)

Literally perfect, we used Boconnoc for our wedding this year in July and we couldn’t recommend it enough. Every single part of the experience was what dreams are made of, the house and grounds are absolutely stunning and kept so immaculately. Every member of the team looking after us couldn’t have been any more lovely. As a Gay couple, we felt so comfortable and supported throughout 🤵🏻🤵🏼‍♂️🤍. Catherine and Louise were amazing, they were so so helpful, so accommodating, and brilliant with communication. We’ll forever be grateful for all of their input in making our wedding as perfect as we imagined it to be. We stayed in the house for a few days before our wedding with just our close family. We then had exclusive use of the house and cottages for the night before and evening of our wedding. We had so many compliments from guests about how stunning their rooms and cottages were. We found being able to have so many of our friends and family stay at the venue worked out really well. We had the most beautiful time and wish we could live it all over again. We can't thank you enough❤️.
