Bodega Amposta sits firmly in the category of “traditional done traditionally,” with just enough modern nods to suggest it’s paying attention to the present. The room has that familiar bodega feel—straightforward, unpretentious, built for regulars—while the menu stays anchored in recognizable comforts: classic flavors, sensible portions, and the reassuring absence of culinary ego.
Nothing here reaches for fireworks, and in a way that’s the point. We ate well: plates that do what they’re supposed to do, arriving hot, properly seasoned, and competently handled. There were no glaring mistakes, but also no moments that demanded to be replayed later in conversation. It’s dinner, not a story.
The wine situation is the restaurant’s strangest contradiction. There are plenty of bottles, yet the list is presented in a way that feels almost hostile to the diner—messy, unclear, difficult to navigate. Luckily, the service steps in where the paper fails. The staff is genuinely warm, and a good recommendation can salvage the experience, steering you toward something satisfying without making you feel like you’ve had to fight for it.
A solid, workmanlike bodega—fine to return to when you want reliability more than revelation.
