It was a fascinating experience dining at Bodega de los Secretos. Not only were the dishes impressive, the service was also excellent. The male manager in black glasses was friendly by offering a nice table despite my late booking. As a couple travelling to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we were truly amazed by how observant and thoughtful the restaurant was. Would definitely recommend it!

Dined here tonight and it was a great meal for my first night in Madrid. Incredible food. I had the scallops for starters, sirloin for main, and chocolate coulant with mango ice cream for dessert. Bread with gazpacho I didn’t order but they gave it automatically and it was only 2.5eur anyway. Also, scallops were served right away but it wasn’t served warm - not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be. Flavor is there tho. I think the star of the night was the mango ice cream - so refreshing! Service between courses was quick and the servers were all friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. They were playing American country music the night I was there though. I think it didn’t go with the overall vibe. Either way, I hope to come back next time and perhaps try the octopus then!

Great place for a special dinner with a unique setting underground. amazing atmosphere. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. I also loved the croquetas, especially the jamón ones crispy outside, creamy inside.

Such an awesome experience in this 1600s wine cellar turned bomb shelter turned restaurant. Service was impeccable- fast and attentive. All of our food was so delicious. We were worried it would be a gimmicky spot considering the atmosphere, but the food was truly delicious. I can not recommend the oxtail enough

Bodega de los Secretos delivers a fantastic culinary experience that perfectly matches its extraordinary setting. The food quality was exceptional across the board, with each dish showcasing careful preparation and authentic flavors. The ravioli was a standout, featuring perfectly al dente pasta with a rich, flavorful filling that demonstrated the kitchen's attention to traditional Italian techniques. The risotto was equally impressive - creamy, well-seasoned, and cooked to the ideal consistency that only comes from patient stirring and quality ingredients. The beef shank was tender and succulent, slow-cooked to perfection until it practically fell off the bone, while the duck confit was expertly prepared with crispy skin and melt-in-your-mouth meat that showcased classic cooking at its finest. The amazing interior atmosphere adds an unforgettable dimension to the dining experience - the restaurant's unique setting in old tunnels and brick basement creates an intimate, almost mystical ambiance that you simply can't find anywhere else in Madrid. The combination of fantastic food and this extraordinary underground setting makes Bodega de los Secretos a truly memorable dining destination.

First let me say the atmosphere is truly beautiful .. an old winery that was used during the Napoleon wars as a hide out. Beautiful.. lights and ambience .. outstanding. Dinner was 1/2 great. My wife and her friend ordered the rice with seafood and I ordered the pumpkin ravioli. The ravioli was amazing.. a must order .. and the Alhambra 1929 beer from Granada.. also the best. The rice with seafood was less than average. We actually asked for it to be taken away and we ordered another ravioli to replace it. For dessert the Tres Leche is great and cheesecake as well. Why the 2 stars? Instead of offering anything for the 2 returned rice plates, they charged for those and the 2nd plate of ravioli. I don’t expect anything for free but a jester of something for some uneaten returned plates of food maybe are warranted for a restaurant of this potential caliber. Please visit but don’t don’t don’t order the rice with seafood :). A special note.. the waiter was very nice… maybe he should be given more authority to make these decisions 🙏

Google
It was a lovely restaurant. We had the Iberian tenderloin. It was tasty, the meat very soft and cooked well, it had cuscus as well. We also had the Iberian croquetas and arroz con leche. Both good options. The tables had different themes, this was a cool idea by the restaurant while still being classy. Overall really good place.

This was the best place we ate while in Madrid! The food was amazing, the wine selection was GREAT, and the ambience simply can’t be beat! Don’t miss this gem!

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday in Madrid and chose Bodega de los Secretos for dinner! It was truly a perfect experience. The restaurant is built into old wine caves. The majority of tables are in their own little alcove making it very private and romantic. My husband and I felt like we were secluded in our little space. We started with delicious glasses of wine and the amuse Bouche (they do charge for this, 2 euro per person). We shared the butterfish and arroz in a creamy red sauce with seafood. The food was delicious! We ended the meal with a light and airy cheesecake. They added a candle for my celebration! We were amazed that this entire meal came out to only about $60! Wild! It was such a delicious meal and such a gorgeous setting, especially for the price.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance with fantastic service! The staff were polite and patient as we didn't speak much Spanish. The food was some of the best we had while in Spain! It was a unique experience and I highly recommend.

Yelp
I loved the atmosphere of this 17th century winery . The tables are all private in their own little alcoves and it's so cute The food was amazing, we shared and had a wide variety of plates. I suggest doing family style there. All of the dishes were good. The service wasn't that great. We got a little attitude from the servers and they hurried us to order before a group placed their order

Yelp
Such a fun find! We happened upon this special restaurant at lunch time and had the best meal. The actual restaurant was such a surprise, down a flight of stairs into a beautiful underground wine cellar that has amazing rich history.

Yelp
Ok please keep in mind that this review is from an American vacationing in Madrid and Europe for the first time. This restaurant was recommended by a friend for our 20th anniversary dinner. Hands down best ambiance of any restaurant I've ever been to. I won't go over history because plenty of reviews have done that. This is an upscale restaurant due to pricing and ambiance however dress was from casual to dressy. Men wore shorts, jeans and tennis shoes to slacks and polos. Women wore nice dressy shorts with heels, to sundresses, dresses with heels. Pretty much anything goes but I wanted to dress up for our special occasion. We don't speak Spanish and our servers spoke enough English for us to get by but I don't think they were happy about it. We had a rotation of 3 different servers. Some seemed annoyed that we weren't immediately ready to order. The menus were both in Spanish and English. Water is a cost. Bread comes to the table there's a cost for that as well. I liked all of the food we had but my husband has been struggling with the food since we've been in Madrid. He is not adventurous at all. We ordered the angry eggs and zampurinos for starters. Although the eggs come in a spicy sauce, it's not spicy at all so don't let that deter you. The scallops (zampurinos) were good. For our entrees we had the oxtail roll and duck confit. Lots of great reviews on the duck and our server recommended it as well. Now this my husband enjoyed. I liked the oxtail roll, there's no bone and the queso it comes in is good. Very tender and you get 3 rolls. I don't eat a lot of meat so I regret I didn't get one of the rice or pasta dishes that had no meat. Sounded good. Let me tell you about the bathroom because I wish this had been in someone else's review. Beautiful and clean bathroom first of all. One bathroom for everyone. Stalls are separated by signage in Spanish so I didn't realize I (female) was using a stall meant for men until I came out. Oops. Very spacious though lots of stalls. Our whole dining experience was an hour and a half. Service was actually pretty fast. Not rude but no extra accommodations either. We had a reservation for 8:30 which is when they open. Good thing, by the time we left they were packed. Not all tables are private we noticed so I'm glad we had the early reservations. The outside looks non descript we almost missed it, but inside is absolutely gorgeous. Our total bill was 99 euros without any alcohol. I enjoyed the experience and would recommend for sure. Wouldn't return with my husband only because he couldn't appreciate the food but I did!

Yelp
If you blink you're gonna pass it. Super cool low key with that speak easy vibe; very nice setting kind of like a wine cellar vibe; a place you'd like to take a person on a first date; service was Superb, staff knew their menu, wines. The food is fantastic I myself ordered the Octopus and it was just the right amount and delicious, not big portions. But super amazing and tasty. Prices are very fair.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! The service, the food, the atmosphere...everything was awesome. We recommended to my parents who went a week later also loved it!

Yelp
If you're a foodie, run away. I am really surprised at how positive the reviews are for this place. I found it across a number of lists, and on a list of personalized recommendations Amex sent me for my trip to Spain. My friend and I had our last dinner of a two week trip at this restaurant. It was a huge disappointment. We are both very adventurous eaters and she is a chef, so we are definitely foodies. I picked this place for the caves, but lots of other reviews were outstanding so I had high hopes. We ordered a wide range of dishes, more than we needed, so that we could try everything. Overall, everything was sweet and did not generally taste made from scratch. The croquettes were oddly really good, and that is where our joy ended. She had a ravioli dish that was bland and forgettable. I had a seared tuna dish recommended by our server that was not compelling at all, and was doused in an overly sweet sauce that tasted straight from a jar. We also had an oxtail dish that was swimming in two sauces. No texture, nothing tasted fresh. Both of our desserts were very forgettable. This is just simply not worth your time or money. Cheesecake factory quality food. Go somewhere more interesting where they're not leaning entirely on the cool ambience, and then head to a museum or a flamenco show to see the caves. Would not return, would not recommend.

Yelp
Ambiance was really neat and awe inspiring. Most dishes were delicious. My dad I both ordered the butterfish. 36 hours later we are regretting. We are both having Keriorrhea. If you don't know what it is - look it up. Had to take a day to recover. Proceed with caution.

Yelp
This really IS a secrete bodega. The restaurant was previously a war bunker turned wine cellar. It's a little scary to dine here during COVID because there's little ventilation but the ambience makes up for the risk (and if you're vaxxed and boosted, it's probably okay.) Great pick for a date or family gathering. Feel free to chat away in your own private dining alcove. Like many restaurants in Europe, we opted for the prix fixe menu. I'd dine here again for the ambience but the food wasn't all that memorable.

Yelp
This a subterranean gem located in a renovated wine cellar. Many of the tables are located in individual brick/stone alcoves which are very intimate and great for a romantic dinner. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. I especially recommend the Grilled Octopus starter, the Duck Confit with Caramelized Apples, and the Mojito sorbet. They accommodated my celiac needs brilliantly. After your meal you can ask for a brief tour. This was a lovely experience. Reservations recommended.

Yelp
La Bodega de Los Secretos is located inside a three hundred year old tunnel in the heart of Madrid.  Not surprisingly, the atmosphere within and without is quite unique and more than a bit special - they'll happily give you a tour if you ask for one :-) Our dining experience here was exceptional from beginning to end - the service was impeccable and the food was simply amazing! Everything we tried that evening tasted wonderful, but the duck was extraordinary!  The prices here are more than a little on the high side, but given the quality it's worth every Euro :-) I wouldn't hesitate to return at my next opporutnity, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something exceptional and a bit different!

Yelp
Very unique place, a old wine cellar turned restaurant. Many tables are tuck in a small cave on the wall, give you privacy and quiet setting. Food is above average, price is reasonable. My wife and I had a birthday dinner here, I was pleased with both food and services. Recommended.

Mayda G.

Yelp
Delicious food grade ambience, and great prices will definitely be going back. I am looking forward to visiting Spain again great price is two.

Yelp
tried their summer tasting menu and it was amazing. Our favorite was the scallops and the tuna. The mojito sherbet was also amazing. It was in a basement that used to be an old wine cellar.

Yelp
I'd give this place a 4.5. Great ambiance. Very romantic setting. A little warm so dress light. Got the oxtail and thought it could have been more tender, but was still really good. Got the ceviche and octopus as appetizers, ceviche was amazing. Ravioli was good as well.

Yelp
This one has it all! A unique atmosphere, fantastic service, and spectacular food. The interior is like dining in a luxurious wine cellar. The lighting and brickwork lends to a romantic and elegant setting. The service was great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful with recommendations. The menu is not overwhelming at two pages. You have some starters to share, some rice and pasta dishes, fish, and meat. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and extremely well prepared. Everything was very flavorful and was cooked perfectly. Of course they have several desserts and a fantastic wine list (although the wine seemed a tad overpriced). We loved it and would certainly return.

Yelp
Me and my friend went to this restaurant because it is in old wine cellars and that alone should convince you to go. The restaurant it's self is too cool to pass up. The atmosphere is private and perfect for a date night. She got mushroom risotto which was very good and I got mushroom ravioli which was just okay. I didn't like the texture of it. We got the chocolate lava cake with mango ice cream and cheesecake for dessert. Both were very good. Over all I would highly recommend. Maybe just don't get the ravioli.

Yelp
I did not need a reservation for a week day's lunch but you may need one especially during the weekends. When ordering a bottle of white wine, I love how they kept it in a cooler bag!

Yelp
With limited time in Madrid, I really wanted to make every meal count, and Bodega de Los Secretos was an excellent choice for a romantic meal. We were able to score a table at the last minute, though had to settle for an early seating, around 8:30pm. The restaurant was practically empty upon our arrival, which was actually really nice as much of the seating is tucked into nooks in the cellar of Madrid's oldest winery. We were on a gin and tonic kick and our drinks were poured tableside in generous portions. We started with and amuse bouche from the kitchen, followed by the ham croquettes and grilled octopus with potato foam and hot pepper oil. The octopus was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend the dish. My husband and I both opted for fish entrees which were nice, though my hake entree was very similar to the octopus in terms of flavor profile. Not a bad thing, just not very different. We passed on dessert and finished our meal with one last drink. While I may opt for something different next time I'm visiting Madrid, I'm glad I got the opportunity to dine here because it was a really unique experience!

Yelp
La Bodega de Los Secretos is filled of just that, secrets! Housed in Madrid's oldest winery, they say this underground restaurant has 400 years of history and definitely made a mark in my personal history as it's where I got engaged. That being said, I'll be honest that the whole meal was kind of a blur but I will do my best to recount. What makes this place so romantic (and thus a great spot to propose) is that there are little enclaves all around that make for a really private setting. There were other people dining in the restaurant but we couldn't see anyone. The restaurant is quite big so there are lots of different areas to seat large parties if you're not necessarily looking for a private meal for two. The menu features traditional Spanish tapas and entrees. We ordered a range of tapas to share including croquetas de jamon, jamon iberico, pulpo a la brasa, and an egg and potato dish that I can't remember the name of. Of course, there was bread and some delicious olives on the side. Honestly, we wanted to order 10+ dishes from the sound of the menu, but sharing these four tapas between two was more than enough. Everything was so delicious, although I'll admit I was a little high from the proposal. The whole staff was kind and attentive, while also giving us our privacy. Our bill came to around 80 euros for the food and water, which seemed just about right. We didn't order wine because our friends gifted a bottle of champagne, but I did see they had a nice and affordable wine list. I'm so happy my now fiancé chose this as the place to pop the question. I can't wait to return for another meal the next time we're back in Madrid! Pro tip: You're underground so there is no cell service! Even better to make sure everyone is disconnected and focused on great food and company.

Yelp
The restaurant is down some stairs in what appears to be like a cellar or something. The walls are decorated and covered in bricks. The restaurant doesn't open until 8:30, but people in Madrid eat late anyways. The restaurant got busier as time went by. The food was delicious. We ordered the octopus and quinoa salad to start. The octopus was wonderfully cooked and had a nice char to it. The salad was pleasant and a good refreshing start. Between the four of us, we had two ox tails, and two fish - one hake and one corvina. Everything was delicious! Both of the fish were light, not meaty or hard to chew. The ox tail looked small, but it was a lot of meat. It was very flavourful and well seasoned. The pureed sauce that came with it added a nice balance too. The servers were friendly and accommodating. Our main dishes were quite slow, but it's because they had an accident or something. They gave us free dessert at the end of the meal. Overall a very pleasant dinner!

Yelp
Beautiful and romantic place for dinner. Service was very good and the food as well. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place for dinner. Setting is very unique wait staff was very efficient and all the food was executed well. Highly recommend if you're in Madrid.

Yelp
Incredible dinner here. The restaurant is set in a wine cellar which is a very romantic and private setting as each table is set in its own book. Definitely one of the pricier meals we've had here but well worth it; the steak tar tar and ceviche apps were tasty and the steak and duck were incredible.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great experience, very upscale and romantic with underground table lit brick alcoves to make you feel as if you were the only one in the place. Food and wine were reasonably priced for the quality that we received. The grilled octopus was an excellent way to start the evening, prepared with truffle oil and a potato purée, I had the risotto with asparagus and mushrooms which was prepare perfectly and my wife had ravioli stuffed with peppers and light but flavorful green sauce. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will return.
google avatar

Dani D.

Yelp
Just a short walk from Caixa Forum but on a quiet residential street. Unless you want to eat dinner early, I recommend making a reservations as they do get quite busy. Everything we tried was delicious and the decor and ambiance is fantastic.

Yelp
I truly can say I had an amazing experience, this will be one of the highlights of my Spain trip..

Keryna J.

Yelp
Great atmosphere (the restaurant is actually a 400 year old winery and was the first winery in Madrid) and great food. Ask for a tour after your dinner!

Richard B.

Yelp
This place was so fun. You are underground in a former wine cellar. The service was above average and the food was tasty and well presented. I would highly recommend this spot close to the Prado.

Raul V.

Yelp
Absolutely breathtaking. I have dined all over and can honestly say this is the most romantic place I've ever been. Very trendy interior, modern twist that accentuates the rustic attributes of the cellar that make it so stunning. Every corner is artfully put together and the attention given to us was impressive. We had the owner himself give us a tour of the entire restaurant and explain the rich history of the venue to the last detail (over half an hour of his time). Let's not forget the excellent food - Honest pricing and quality ingredients. The ceviche, croquetas and rabo de toro were perfect to go with the delectable tempranillo. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Madrid! A must go!
