On the Grid : Bodega

"Simply put, Bodega is the premier taqueria of Edinburgh. Possibly one of the UK’s very best. A rollercoaster of cuisines, from Mexican to Indian to Vietnamese, have all featured on the menu at one stage. Even the special British bacon sandwich inspired taco, at the time of writing. Locals will remember the original nearby venue fondly (now Lucky Yu). But this new, larger 2019 venue presents opportunities to showcase their fusion food to the Scottish capital on a grander scale. Order a frozen margarita, sample their delicious tacos and forget your problems. The baja cod, spicy buffalo chicken (or cauliflower) tacos are recommended - as are their churros." - fourcolourblack

Beef brisket is a thing of beauty and the jalepeno margarita was delicious! Really cool atmosphere and friendly service. Tacos were not good. Tortillas were a bit dry and the fillings didn’t taste particularly fresh. The fish tacos were reallllly fishy. Which might be fine for some but I haven’t had fish tacos before that were that pungent and I was done after one bite. £35 was A LOT to pay for what I received. Good gets 2 stars for the beef brisket alone.

Bodega has become our birthday or special celebration place. After coming to Bodega pretty regularly now for many years, every time the food is excelent and the vibe comforting. There are very few restaurants in Edinburgh that we go back to more than a few times or even for a second visit so to have Bodega be our comfort celebration over 3+ years speaks volumes! It's so nice to be in a "local" place that really is about the local community with great food and no " attitude". Thank you Bodega and crew for being there for all our special days!

Most of the food was nice the taco was medium head and little bit hard on the shell but the quality was there 🍅

Nice Mexican taco restaurant on Leith Walk. Best to have a reservation as it’s not the biggest and can get busy. Very tasty food and a good mix of tacos, snacks and grill plates. Food was very tasty when we visited and the highlights were the pork and beef brisket grill plates which were both excellent. Service was very friendly and efficient. Will visit again for a try of their £25 per person fixe menu which looks good value.

Everything was really nice. I went with my partner for our anniversary and we really enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and explained everything to us (allergens e.t.c.) and the service was really fast. In the end, we even got a treat from the staff, knowing about me and my partner's anniversary.

Very trendy place. And very popular. Has its own blank pastel shades vibe. Food is mainly small, sharing plates. Everything tasted fine but no real stand out dishes. The glasses of margarita are tiny. Go if you are cool and want to be seen.

Highly recommended! Nice food, reasonable price, beautiful service and very cozy sitting. I have been here several times and never be disappointed by any of the above elements. This definitely also be a good place for having good drinks and conversation with any types of company.

We’ve come for dinner many times in the last 12 months, used to love the old menu. The new one is very disappointing, no more guacamole, beef tacos is just watery minced beef without any flavor or spices decorated with gherkins on top. Barbecue pork is very dry, had to ask for extra sauce to make it edible. Chicken tacos were nice. Our waitress was lovely, obviously not her fault the food is so different now.
