The Most Romantic Ways to Experience Mallorca

"A multi-generational family winery established in 1711 and considered Mallorca’s oldest vineyard, with a modern underground barrel room added in 2019. Visitors can choose from six (or fully customized) experiences that include guided walks through the facilities and winemaking process, tastings of more than a dozen whites, reds and rosés, and optional private live musical performances. Tastings can be enjoyed in an outdoor garden or inside the stately 18th-century home, and visits are often paired with gastronomic offerings from simple Iberian ham and Mallorcan almonds to elaborate multi-course meals such as Arròs Brut Mallorquí, Frito Marinero, and Suquet de Peix." - Chris Dong

Truly the best experience of our trip. It was magical. The wine, the food, the ambience, the very warm welcome we received. We fell in love and as luck would have it, our next hotel had the blanc on the their wine list so we were able to enjoy it for several nights after leaving Binissalem.

We just stopped in on an exploration around town. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We sat on their patio and ordered their Ribas Rosat (Highly recommend), Sió Blanc (so tasty!), Sió 2022 (red, very complex and very good), and the Desconfío (do not leave without trying this one). You'll want to leave with a bottle to have at home. This little shop has been in business for 300+ years and the knowledge shows. Will definitely go again!

We recently enjoyed a visit to Bodega Ribas, opting for the winery tour and wine tasting experience, which cost €31 per person. The setting of the bodega is beautiful, and the wine tasting itself was enjoyable, offering a good introduction to their local varietals. However, the experience could definitely be elevated. We felt the wine tasting was missing some key accompaniments that would have enhanced the flavors. The absence of fresh fruits and a selection of cheeses was a noticeable omission and would have significantly improved the overall tasting experience. While we appreciated learning about the winemaking process during the tour, the overall cost of €31 per person felt a bit expensive considering the basic nature of the tasting. With a few thoughtful additions to the wine tasting, Bodega Ribas has the potential to be an exceptional experience. Unfortunately they are missing good scenery of grape trees. You get to visit winery buildings.

Google
Super knowledgeable and friendly guide. He didn’t mind me asking all my technical yeast related questions. We enjoyed the tour and tasting. I enjoyed the history about the family and this historic place, I wish there was a little more information about the old buildings we visited, more from the point of trying to imagine how wine was made here in old times. Otherwise felt more intimate than other tours we have done on the island. Recommend!

What an experience! Ellen and Juan were welcoming, knowledgeable hosts. A very interesting history of the winery. WE tasted white freshly bottled Ribas. Divine. Then the Rose - ohhhhh couldn’t decide which I liked better so we bought a bottle of each! The Sio wine inspired by grandma Ribas, helped me feel the character of the vineyards and grandma’s caress. Time well spent. Highly recommend a visit to the winery. If we had time we’d have done the tour.

Fantastic afternoon spent at Ribas! Nice wines, wonderful “snacks” to them, and most friendly staff! We were even given a guided tour, even if we didn’t book it in advance.

Yelp
The Ribas winery with its over three-century-old history, it is the oldest winery of the island. It is located in one of the listed stately homes from the 18th century that has been preserved intact to date, with its original historic barrel cellar and winemaking warehouse. Pedro Ribas de Cabrera, ancestor of the current owners, started in the year 1711 the construction of the winery. Today, they host wine tasting along with a sampling of local Mallorcan products. A high percentage of the Majorcan grape varieties Mantonegro and Prensal are grown here in accordance with the family tradition. Bodega Ribas is also known for recovering other native varieties from the island, like Gargollasa, which was practically extinguished, and that now complements the other varietals. We sampled Ribas de Cabrera, Grape varieties:55% Mantonegro, 40% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; Ribas Negre 2012, Grape varieties:50% Mantonegro, 25% Merlot, 20% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; and SIÓ Negre 2012, Grape varieties:50% Mantonegro, 25% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The clear winner this day is Sio Negre. This wine, made mostly with grapes from our old Mantonegro vines, was conceived in the year 2000 as a tribute to their grandmother Sió. Elegant, fruity and deep wine with a mineral base from the calcareous soils of the vineyard. Aged 12 months in 50% new French oak and 50% second year French oak. Alcohol: 14,5% We bought some bottles of Sio and carried on with our wine tasting adventures. Strongly recommend.
