21 Best Restaurants in Madrid

"A tapas bar is usually known for one or two specialties, but here, nearly every dish is worth visiting for. Kickstart your salivary glands with a gilda—a Basque brochette stacked with a anchovies, olives, and pickled hot peppers that will make you pucker—before tearing into retro Madrileño mains like fried pig ear soaked in spicy brava sauce and meatballs served alongside a mound of hand-cut fries. The burst-in-your-mouth chocolate croquetas are the dessert menu's sleeper hit. Vermouth on draft and eclectic yet affordable Spanish wines by the glass are wonderful sidekicks to whatever you're eating. Make El Maño a stop on a longer tapas crawl or settle in for a full meal: This is no-frills taberna dining at its finest." - Benjamin Kemper

I really liked this place. Atmosphere was great, super buzzy and a warm interiors, felt very authentic and not at all like a tourist trap. The service was also good. The food was also great, although I would’ve ordered slightly differently next time. We ordered the crispy pork belly, which was exactly as it says it is but in my opinion really could’ve done with a sauce or something. The patatas bravas were good, I loved the presentation but the potatoes could’ve done with being cooked a little longer. The stand out dish for me was the burrata with the prawn tails - I thought this dish was so clever. It was covered in a smoky, burnt garlic oil which balanced out the sweetness of the prawn and buratta - absolutely perfect for dipping some bread into. I thought the tomato salad with gildas diced up was very clever as well. I regret not ordering the aubergine crisps as they looked great! Would definitely return, very good value as well.

Great food and drinks! English menu available which is the first I’ve seen in Madrid. Quality of the food was excellent. It was a fault of the management that they had only one staff member working as it was quite busy - but no fault of the staff member! She was excellent too

If it’s not the best restaurant in Madrid then I don’t know what is! I have been there 3 times during my stay (it never happens, I go max 2 times to fact check if it was actually that good). It was a pleasure each time, the food is delicious and the price to value is amazing. I got a steak and it tasted like a proper dry aged steak and was melting in my mouth. It offers the smoky flavour and the sides that comes with are very well balanced. The other day I also got tortilla the patatas and it was the best tortilla of my life. The texture is indescribable. Really outstanding restaurant! Congratulations ☺️

The best meal that we had in Madrid. We stumbled on this restaurant and expected nothing more than to have a simple lunch and continue to see the sights. As a family of five, we feel conspicuous walking into smaller restaurants. We were welcomed and given a great table that accommodated our family very nicely. From the quality of the bread and olives, to each dish, everything was high quality and delicious. The salmorejo was silky and delicious, burrata salad, fried sardines, pork skewers, potatoes bravado, eggs….it was a special meal.

Our favorite spot in Madrid. We didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in, telling us we can only stay one hour max and that was completely fine. We ordered quickly, the food arrived quickly and everything was delicious -- there were no misses. The place is small and tight but it's such a quintessential Madrid eatery with traditional ceramics and charming details. Our server was so friendly and tentative, especially because she knew we were on an hour countdown. Usually they leave you alone to 'sobremesa' it all evening and night but she worked with us. Could have eaten here everyday but we only found this place the night before we left.

Lively atmosphere, good tapas, quick in and out. Small tapas bar so come off hours like 4-5pm where it’s easy to get a seat. Had the Gilda (anchovies on olive and pepper - OK), prawn tails in olive oil and burrata (excellent! Dip the bread in the oil)

One of the best bodegas we visited. The staff is very friendly, there is a big selection of things to order and everything we tasted was really good. Make sure you like garlic because every fish has lots of it. Surprisingly, the place has some vegetarian options too!

Very traditional restaurant, it was also very busy and hard to find a seat at peak dinner time. We were lucky and they were able to squeeze us in. The patatas bravas were probably the best we had in Madrid. The pan con tomate y jamon was also excellent. Both went well with a nice cold beer. We were tourist but it felt like we were the only ones. Everyone else seemed to be local and out to enjoy themselves after work. Really great atmosphere!
