The best bodega …
We are on a year long tour of South America from the U.K., and our Airbnb hosts in Tarija recommend Bodega Magnus to us.
It was hands down one of the loveliest vineyards we have visited (in either Europe or S America) and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to others.
It is a smallish family run bodega with a beautiful private chapel, and several of the family’s artefacts collected over the decades. Upon arrival we were given a glass of chilled Sangini, and a glass of Chuflay, which is a longer drink mixed with Ginger Ale. Following a tour of the premises we had a three course paired lunch which was utterly delicious. We had two types of bruschetta to start (and the owners were kind enough to substitute out cheese for my husband, with some prior notice given). The main course was a very tasty slab of beef, with fresh salad (from their garden) and roasted new potatoes. Dessert was also very tasty, and the wines themselves in our opinion are first class (and the servings VERY generous).
All in all we had a wonderful day, made even better by Liz, the co-owner who is clearly passionate about the bodega and its history.
