Bodhi Tree is such a nice place to stay, I will always book it when we come to Kolkata. The rooms have plenty of space, and our bed was super comfortable. The guesthouse is full of art, and the atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful.||I enjoyed getting to know the proprietor a bit. Santasree Chauduri is very active in women's welfare through an organization called Green Tara initiative, and it was interesting to learn about her work. She's also a poet.||I fell ill during our stay (mild food poisoning), and Santasreeji and her helper, Dolly, took excellent care of me. Santasree gave me an OTC medication for the stomach problems, and Dolly brought me yogurt with banana when I was able to eat. In the evening she served us rice with more yogurt, and that really did the trick. I really appreciated that Santasreeji kept checking on me -- it's so nice to feel cared for when you are unwell.||The location on Google Maps is not correct — the pin is located on the back side of the Bodhi Tree building. The front door of Bodhi Tree actually faces Chinmoy Chatterjee Sarani, and it’s just a few doors down from Sankarnath Dialysis Centre, so that's a good landmark. The guesthouse is also straight up the road from the Rabindra Sarobar Metro station, so that's another good landmark. From the metro station, turn east onto Russa Road East 2nd Lane, which then becomes Chinmoy Chatterjee Sarani. Continue a couple more short blocks to the dialysis center, and then you'll find Bodhi Tree on your right.

A decent place to stay with loved ones and friends. Santasree aunty and each and every staff are incredibly polite, and they always go out of their way to make guests feel at home and welcome. Every room is neat and tastefully designed. The interior was exquisitely furnished with quaint old pieces. They will arrange food as per your choice and the foods are delicious. I would rate this place 10 out of 10.

Absolutely angelic experience! Every evening I felt at peace coming back to this divine place which felt like home. The host Santasree is a lovely person and the caretakers do a perfect job in making your stay comfortable. Visiting Kolkata...Buddha tree is the place to go to. The ambience is perfect for a quiet getaway from the busy Kolkata streets. Overall I would rate this place 10 on 10 ....thanks Santasree for opening such a beautiful place...feels like a sanctuary. See you again Buddha tree. Until then bon voyage|

We booked online and gave 50 percent advance while booking. On arriving, we were led to a room that was dingy, musty and dirty. The online pics are a complete eye wash. They have not maintained the property at all. Dirty bed sheets, dusty curtains, dead and dull furniture. Washroom was eeeek… We checked out within 2 hours of checking in as the entire place reeked. The mother-son duo didn’t want to take any feedback from us. They simply refused to return even a penny. They infact were rude and disrespectful despite being hosts. Please don’t book this place at all!!! The management needs to pull up their socks and make this dead, dark, dull and depressing place come back to life! Luckily we found an excellent Air BnB and left this horrible, dirty and filthy place.

You will be disappointed if you stay here. The service is amazing thanks to the staff. They are polite and friendly and cook good food. However, that is the only positive thing. The hotel is not as the picture shows. This feedback is for the owner. The concept of the hotel is nice but it is old and needs complete renovation. The rooms need new mattresses. They are old and impossible to sleep on. The bedding needs to be completely replaced. New sheets, pillows and invest in some duvets. All towels need to be replaced with good quality towels. Electricity wiring needs to be redone. The chairs and sofas in the rooms and the shared spaces need replacing. The rooms need to be thoroughly cleaned, rubbing down the walls to get rid of the water under the paint. There needs to be proper ventilation in all the rooms. There is no sunlight to this hotel at all. It is like staying in a dark, dank cave. The location is poor. No restaurants or food outlets nearby. South city mall is about a 10 min Uber ride away. Auto drivers will not take you anywhere, They tried to charge us more that an Uber. Lonely planet review of a nice cafe and library is completely not true anymore. There is no cafe and the library only has ancient books in it. It's a shame because nice B and B in Calcutta are hard to find. But it was so bad we checked out after two days.

Not recommended- to anyone. Dirty towels, dark & dirty rooms, AC not working, 24hrs water leakage in bathroom. Beer bottles are very overpriced. Everything is over priced. Not RECOMMENDED 🙏🏻 The pictures are too old I guess, coz presently it’s totally different. Needs to change everything.

So after touching Kolkata at midnight I reached "The Bodhi tree".A cozy home stay.A place with Buddha vibes neatly decorated and humble staff service but was a bit disappointing as the beds were extremely uncomfortable.Friends be careful of your feet better to roam around with your crocs so that you get hurt with the under maintained cemented bed corners. Would rather rate the place a 3*.

Lovely rooms with clever design concepts. However facilities getting tired. Taxis can't find it so print a map with clear directions. Service quite poor with staff more interested in sleep than service (rooms not serviced for 3 days, getting early breakfast at 7am a challenge). No drinking water in rooms, no maps, no city guides, zero effort has been put into the guest experience beyond the original fit out. Overall I'm quite disappointed. For this price, try one of the hundreds of new business motels in Kolkata.
