If you’re in Charlottesville, you have to stop at Bodo’s Bagels! We tried the egg salad with bacon on an onion bagel and the chicken (turkey) salad with cheese on a garlic bagel—both were delicious. The bagel flavors were spectacular and really brought everything together. The salads themselves aren’t heavily seasoned, which I actually prefer—it lets you adjust the flavor exactly to your liking. Just a heads-up: during rush hour, the space can get pretty cramped with people waiting, but the staff keeps things moving fast and efficiently. Local, tasty, and always worth the stop—Bodo’s lives up to the hype!

My Boyfriend use to go to UVA AND HE RAVED ABOUT BODOS. We took me here!!! We had bacon, egg and cheese, plain bagel, and I had the lox everything bagel!! Coffee was good too! We bought 1/2 a dozen bagels to take home!! Ahhsooo good! Oh we also got (after we finished our breakfast ) a Tuna on everything with lettuce and tomato!!!!! MONEY! On point so good

Ramen&Ribs

Google
I got bagels for my party of seven this morning. Everyone is happy. I love me some lox, so fresh and tasty. The everything bagel is a perfect balance of savory and crispy.

Google
Was told this was the place to get a good bagel. I was not disappointed! Probably one of the top 3 bagels I've ever had, absolutely Fantastic bagels, very fast service even in the middle of a rush. We walked in and the line was nearly to the door and we thought it would be a while but they moved crazy fast. I stood waiting for our food for maybe 4 minutes. Definitely impressed and highly recommend even if they are busy!

Google
Had to finally check out Bodo's after a recommendation from a friend. The line was to the door, but it moved SO fast. We enjoyed our sandwiches and also picked up some extra bagels for tomorrow morning. Will definitely return

Google
Best deal in town, the prices can’t be beat! I’m loyal to the garlic bagel but mix it up between the chicken salad (they use turkey) and the honey pecan cream cheese. Recently tried the capocolla with lettuce tomato and onion and I think that may be my new lunch order. Even if the wait is long the line moves quick. I love sitting by the windows in this location for all that light.

Google
It was good— but it was sold as being THE BEST bagel you’ll ever have. It’s not. It’s a good bagel sandwich— but it’s still a pretty basic bagel sandwich. All sandwiches are build your own. Nothing specially curated or anything like that. We went at lunch and people were lined up out the door. Be prepared for a little wait. Solid but not worth going out of your way for it.

Google
Delish- we come here every time we’re in town. Speedy service considering the line on weekends. Yummy and cheap, plenty of build your own options or classics to choose from.

Yelp
New York Bagles in Cville. The band cranks out orders. You order at the counter and they call you when your foods ready. It is a nice restaurant with tables. I had cream cheese and lox on an everything bagel--delicious and as good as any deli in Manhattan or Queens.

Yelp
The best. I mean really that's all you need to know. There can be lines but they also move quickly here. There are lots of options beyond just bagel and cream cheese. Our overall favorite is the tuna with watercress, lettuce, tomato and onion. However we did try one with the herb cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, pepper spread and watercress on whole wheat everything. It was good and a great vegetarian option. The tuna is still the favorite.

Yelp
A super popular bagel spot in Cville. Good for a quick and inexpensive breakfast, but be prepared to wait in line if it's a weekend. I ordered bacon, egg, and cheese, on a bagel, and while it was fine I was definitely not blown away by the quality. There's plenty of casual seating inside, and plenty of parking outside.

Yelp
The line was so long but moved so fast! The bagels were simple yet delicious. The plain bagel with blueberry cream cheese was so messy - beware! Tonsss of cream cheese just dripping out. Inside felt like an old Wendy's. Would definitely come back for a quick, yummy, and cheap breakfast spot!

Yelp
Bodo's is very popular in Charlottesville for good reason. The bagels are fresh and tasty, and their assortment of toppings is exceptional. On my most recent visit, I ordered the egg everything bagel with egg and bacon. I realized after the fact that I probably should've ordered cheese on it as well, but it was good as-is. I also ordered a bagel with blueberry cream cheese, as well as a side of their herbed cream cheese to go. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order here. Service is friendly; the line is long but efficiently organized.

Yelp
Take Out Review: Even though the line was almost out the door, it moved quickly, and it wasn't long before I was on my way. I will say that inside there was plenty of seating in case you wanted to eat in. The bagels were good. Like really good. But the breakfast bagel I got was missing something that didn't quite make it the 5 stars I hoped it would be. Regardless, I added a bit of hot sauce and devoured the whole thing. This place is super popular, so make sure you give it a try. I'm going with a 4.5 rounded up, maybe next time I come in and try one of the other bagel sandwiches it'll hit the spot.

Yelp
This is my favorite bagel place! Consistent in quality and always delicious! I highly recommend a bacon, egg, cheese, and avocado on an everything bagel.

Yelp
No matter how many bagel places I try in NY......nothing will ever compete with Bodo's. The best prices, fast service, and always so delicious. Love that the preston location has natural lighting.

Yelp
Such a great bagel shop!!! Stopped by on Sunday late morning and even though there was a line it moves quickly. Also once you order they have a very efficient system of getting you your food and drinks. Inside there is lots of seating and it was packed. We got our food to-go, so didn't have to worry about getting a seat. Now onto the food and drinks: Everything bagel with honey pecan cream cheese was so good!!! Husband enjoyed a cinnamon raisin with butter. Also the chicken salad (they use turkey) was so good on a sesame bagel! The chicken salad has great flavor and I had lettuce and tomato on it and it was so good! Husband had s coffee and I had a lemonade! This is a must stop in Charlottesville for all your bagel needs!

Yelp
Wasn't a big fan. Don't quite get the hype. Got a whole wheat bagel w lox and cream cheese. Bagel didn't taste fresh which I don't understand since you could clearly see the workers putting out fresh bagels. I guess I'm just used to ny/nj big crispy hot and chewy bagels. These were small and underwhelming.

Yelp
Awesome spot-well loved by the locals! For good reason! The products are made in house all day, every day! And they are so,so good! The local favorite is deli egg(a combination of scrambled egg, cheese and chopped meat. This is best enjoyed on an "everything " bagel So-Ask for "deli egg on everything " you will be delighted!! Also the soups here are spectacular and! The salads! Fresh and made with high-quality ingredients!

Yelp
I see why everyone loves Bodo's, it's just freaking delicious. As a first timer I was confused as to where the line started since there were sooooo many people ordering/waiting. Once you figure that you the line moves very quickly. Since the menu is bagels and sandwiches the food is also prepared pretty quickly. I love that they make the bagels fresh throughout the day, so they seemed to be well stocked. I went for a classic everything bagel with plain cream cheese (that they make in house) and it did not disappoint. My friend got their lox with herb cream cheese and loved it as well. Bonus points for having coke zero and homemade seltzer!

Victoria T.

Yelp
We love Bodo's! Best sandwiches! The staff really puts out the product. The lox bagel is huge. I like the egg salad as well.

Yelp
Yall don't need me to tell you Bodo's is still the best deal in town with their decades old tradition of unique & delicious bagels with every imaginable spread & deli offering. Today I'm here to announce that Bodo's shrimp & corn bisque is possibly the BEST SOUP I'VE EVER HAD. The shrimp is chunky & fresh; corn is corny & the bisque is decadent. My only note would be: I think once delicious chunks of potato are included, I consider it a chowder. Potato, potato, indeed ;) thanks Bodo's. You are my "tradition like no other" [Ham, Swiss, Mayo, onion, tomato on an onion bagel please]
google avatar

Markita A.

Yelp
Tell me where else you can get a delicious bagel loaded with fresh strawberry cream cheese for under $4. You can't! This was so delicious. I see why the locals say this is a must have. Best bagel I've had outside of NY.
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
Best bagel shop in Charlottesville! Everything is fresh, never frozen. They don't ever toast because their bagels come out WARM. The prices? Amazing. They've got such a variety of food and drinks to choose from. Flavored cream cheeses, meats, juice, and coffee. There's a fantastic space for sitting down to eat, or you can grab it to go. There's a huge parking lot available as well. Just make sure to get there early, because they do have a line that forms pretty quickly.

Yelp
Got my car towed by a wrecking service and Bodo's Bagels was the place they recommended. I liked the wrecker guy so much that I offered to buy him a sandwich. very good service, fair price, and best of all, extremely pleasant bagel.
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
Bodo's is the classic morning bite to eat in Charlottesville. The UVA bucket list tradition is to get the #1 order of the day, and I admittedly have yet to do so. Luckily, there are three locations in the area, so you could be one of the lucky three! My usual order is the BLT on everything, which always hits the spot. The portions are also quite sizable for a sandwich bagel, so it's usually filling with just one. Popular items include breakfast sandwiches or classic bagels with cream cheese, which have multiple offerings from cinnamon, strawberry, classic, and more. P.S. They don't toast the bagels! They're already too fresh!

Yelp
I love Bodo's. Good food, good service? Good prices. I real neighborhood business. You'll like it!

Yelp
This place is so awesome. While it looks like a little hole in the wall, it is definitely everything and then some. Everybody is extremely friendly and I like that the options are enough to make you have to think a little bit, but simple enough to make an easy decision. Some of us got bagels and cream cheese, some of us got breakfast sandwiches and everything was amazing. We definitely look forward to coming back when we visit the area again and we are very thankful for everybody working. This is definitely a must try and a must go place!!

Yelp
I love bodo's!! The lines moves super quickly and service is top notch. There is a decent amount of seating and parking at this location. And of course the bagels are phenomenal!!

Yelp
This is definitely a 3.5 star joint but it doesn't quite deserve the 4th star, so I have to round down to 3. They advertise as authentic NY water boiled bagels. I'll give them this-they are as close as you'll get in this area. I was impressed with the amount of seeds on my poppy bagel-less so on my everything. And they were definitely water boiled, but whether it was something about their dough recipe or perhaps just the VA vs NY water, they weren't the same as a NY bagel. We both got an everything bagel with egg and cheese and their veggie nobull patty. It was a bit disappointing as we were expecting a veggie sausage but it was more like a veggie burger. Still, it was a decent breakfast sandwich. The poppy bagel with cream cheese that we shared was more satisfying. They also get points off for not having any alternative milks. You have a veggie patty, so clearly you have considered vegetarians, but bagels are generally a breakfast food and you don't consider plant based milks? Not a single container of soy or almond or oak? I call that a fail. Still, it's a decent facsimile of a NY bagel. Had they stocked a plant based milk then I might have rounded up, but I just can't quite get to the 4th star.

Yelp
Don't be discouraged by the long lines; wait, it's worth it. Prefect place for a late brunch styled fix before a long hiking trip; the bagels are filling and healthy. Just a walk away from the Omni C'ville and order extra for pool time later!

Ronnie P.

Yelp
The best bagels in town - high quality with great price and friendly service. highly recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
I saw this place was popular and read it'll have a line and they weren't lying. I mean right after 7 am on a Saturday this place was a bit packed ha ha. I got a cinnamon raisin bagel w a mix of honey pistachio cream cheese and cinnamon and brown sugar and it was amazing. Bagel was soft & chewy and and the cream cheeses were perfection. If I lived in this area I would frequent here often and I highly recommend.
google avatar

Sophie S.

Yelp
Highly recommend coming here. Fast paced, efficient, friendly staff, & good bagel sandwiches! I was full after eating my sandwich and it tasted so good. I got an everything bagel with bacon, egg, & cheese, & you could taste all the flavors which was so nice. The place can be a little hectic inside, but don't let that stop you from trying this place out. It's worth it and they know how to get their lines down fast while also giving great customer service
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Value is good for what you pay! $4 for this sandwich. But honestly the flavor is just a little blah. I got an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and egg. I keep eating it expecting some more flavor but it just leaves me missing something - maybe some acidity.
google avatar

Jenny S.

Yelp
We came around 11 am on a Friday and had to line up for about 10 minutes. Their bagels are reasonably priced using fresh ingredients. You can customize a variety of sandwiches depending on your taste. We enjoyed every sandwich we ordered - roasted beef, turkey, lox. Their coffee is also not bad. This is a must stop place when in Charlottesville.
google avatar

Billie M.

Yelp
Didn't have time to picture my food, this place is busyyyyyyy. Which says a lot when a line outs out the fit while it's raining. The bagels are chewy and fresh, a great density, and fast service. The pricing is extremely reasonable, staff is great! When I'm the area, would definitely stop here! A part of 2, we ate for 10 bucks and are stuffed!!
google avatar

Nirav S.

Yelp
There's really not much else to say except for this is probably the best bagel place in the area, I grew up in New York and New Jersey and this place is spot on! The bagel sandwiches are also excellent! I can't recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Charlotte S.

Yelp
Delish. So good, long lines every day we went but line moved quickly and bagels were too good. Came twice during our trip and it hit the spot both times. Super friendly, always available seating, super cheap pricing. 100% recommend!

Yelp
One of my favorites! Great bagels And service. Classic bagel shop. Would Recommend anytime.

Yelp
We're visiting Charlottesville for the first time and stopped by Bodo's this afternoon right before they closed. I got a sandwich on an onion bagel and a garlic bagel with cream cheese and they were absolutely delicious. Cheap and amazing bagels - what more could you ask for!

Yelp
A very solid Bodo's location! Bodo's is somewhat of a Charlottesville tradition, with locals all having their own favorite orders. Many of the events I've attended in my five years of living here have been catered by Bodo's! The bagels are always warm and have the perfect texture, a warm chewy bread with a great near-crisp. This location is much faster than the place on Emmett, and tend to be less crowded than right on the UVA Corner. I love how fast the service is, how inexpensive the meals are, and how fresh and filling! There are just so many options. One of my favorites is just a classic egg on whole wheat with Swiss, or whatever cheese I feel like. I think the whole wheat bagel adds a great chew and texture, making the simple egg and cheese more hearty. I also love the cinnamon raisin with butter and jam. They always add the perfect amount of butter - TONS. The bagel carries all the butter it can, and the sweet jam perfectly contrasts the salted butter and the chewy bagel. There are tons of possible combinations and orders of course, but I thought I'd give a couple suggestions for any out-of-towners or first timers. Make sure to swing by, and pick out your own order!

Yelp
Every time I come into C'Ville, this place is hopping! It was my first time coming as a vegan, so I wasn't sure what to expect. For anyone coming for the tofu option, they won't have that for a bit (stopped manufacturing right now). I would also say, as a vegan, I wouldn't come for breakfast (really limited options), but it's a solid lunch spot! I got the "No Bull," which is a local lentil burger, on an Everything Bagel, with hummus, guac, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. They did NOT skimp on the Guac, which I did really enjoy. But, I would ask management, pleaseeee please get a vegan cream cheese! You come to a bagel shop really wanting that classic bagel and cream cheese, and that was very missed in my experience. I think it would do well in this community, and really hope it's available in my next stop to my old stomping grounds! VEGAN TIP: Do not get the Wheat Bagel, it has honey Tip #2: they do not accept AMEX

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Very popular dining spot! Tasty food which the preparation is nicely taylored to each order. Friendly yet efficient staff. Line moves fast. Bagel sandwiches are the best!
google avatar

Yelp
Very, very good. THE BEST BAGELS!! I don't know anyone who doesn't like this place. IT IS SO GOOD!! Quality never disappoints, and all three locations are VERY consistent with how their bagels turn out. Read more about what I think about Bodo's here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/bodos-bagels-charlottesville?hrid=CEdvpCdxrrKyydwYPCNF9g&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)

Yelp
Don't let the line scare you! They have the efficiency down to a science. Great coffee. Great bagels. I love the chopped liver from them! Just yummmm

Yelp
Bodos is great and so cheap! This location is quick moving and clean. Seating is great too.

Yelp
Bodo's Bagels is one of my ALL TIME favorite bagel joints. Again biased with nostalgia, but Bodo's has objectively been my go to spot to quench my food cravings since 2015! Bodo's makes fresh water bagels every single day, giving NYC & NJ bagels a serious run for their money. The soft and flavorful bagels taste consistently amazing and fresh upon every single visit. Everything from fermentation of the bagel itself to to the countless toppings, Bodo's always tastes amazing. Regardless of ordering a bagel sandwich or a classic bagel with cream cheese, Bodo's does not disappoint. The cream cheeses (CC) are also to die for! They have countless flavors and each are whipped to be extremely fluffy and light. All of their fresh ingredients come together to create the most memorable experience wanting you to go back for more. Everything is also set at an excellent price point! If you're ever in Charlottesville, VA, Bodo's Bagels is a MUST VISIT! My favorites include: the everything bagel, jalapeño lime cream cheese (never have had anything like it before), and the pepper spread. My go-to order which I and many of my peers have HIGHLY RECOMMENDED is: "an everything bagel w jalapeño lime cream cheese, Swiss or provolone cheese, an egg, lettuce, tomato, onion, sprouts, and pepper spread on the side." Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!

Karen R.

Yelp
We like the bagels very much but have been disappointed in the sandwiches. Service is always great.
google avatar

Kelsi J.

Yelp
Bodo's is a Charlottesville classic. Don't be fooled by the line, you'll be in and out in just a few minutes with your delicious bagel sandwich in hand. Their bagels are fresh and delicious, whether you're enjoying them with cream cheese or as a sandwich. I'm partial to their breakfast sandwiches and usually order a bacon, egg, and cheese. My recent go-to has been herb cream cheese, egg, and sprouts on a salt bagel. A bag of Bodo's bagels and cream cheese is an easy crowd pleaser when you have company or are visiting someone.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
I have generally favorable reviews on bagel places across the board, but there is something special about Bodo's. My friend recommended me this as a cult favorite, and I can see why. The bagels come out warm and fluffy but with a slight amount of crunch (which every bagel place should do, but you'd be surprised at the amount of places that DON'T toast the bagel.) I got the deli egg bagel, which is like a meat/cheese mini omelet on sesame. So heart but not too heavy! We also got the BLT, which got a little messy due to the Mayo but ingredients were super fresh. The bagels were so cheap, and with bagel-wich prices around $3-5, I would definitely come back. PS, multiple locations with parking, service is fast and ordering is not confusing at all.
google avatar

Lina J.

Yelp
What is there to really say about Bodo's? It's an institution, it's a go-to, it's just...Bodos! Maybe the most helpful review would be to write about some of our usual orders. I love lox with jalapeno cream cheese (my favorite cream cheese from here) with some sprouts on top for freshness on an onion bagel. Actually, adding sprouts to anything just brings a pop of freshness and cuts some of the more rich bagels. I arrived in Cville back when it was only drive-thru but have since been back to check out the interior. It's kind of hard to describe but there is a very warm, cozy, and nostalgic vibe to it (even though I didn't grow up in Cville!) I thought they did a great job with the drive-thru and I've loved the service inside as well. Bodos instantly makes any day better, one bagel at a time.
google avatar

Maggie H.

Yelp
I usually don't like bagels because the bread is so thick and tough to chew. HOWEVER, Bodo's Bagels has proved themself to be an exception. I got the cinnamon raisin bagel (itself was fabulous) with smoked turkey breast and lettuce. I didn't really taste the smokiness? But still overall quite enjoyable. The menu has so many bagel options and countless combos you can make with toppings and meat. When you pull up, you might be shocked with the line of cars. However, it goes by very fast. I thought it was adorable that they have someone outside with AirPods and credit card machine to take your order and you pay there. It facilitates the process and don't be alarmed when the person repeats the order to the chefs. These bagels are so filling and definitely worth your money!
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
I see why this is such a hot spot in C-ville. Had an excellent bagel recently that did not disappoint! The cream cheese is the real star here, and make sure to get their coffee as it's incredibly good. All in all, an inexpensive place to get your bagel fix.
google avatar

Katie E.

Yelp
Wow these bagel sandwiches are life giving. The place is packed on the weekends because everyone and their mother wants one of these sandwiches to start their day off right. They are very quick making your sandwich despite the line. The sandwich themselves are delicious. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I spent the week in Charlottesville as a getaway from Washington, DC, and perhaps the number one recommendation I got from friends was to get bagels at Bodo's. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I got my usual: Bagel & Lox and my first impression was the sheer amount of schmear stuffed into my bagel- I was really impressed I think here they outdo most NYC shops! With so much cream cheese you might be concerned but it was a nice light spread that wasn't too salty so it complemented the bagel well. Whether it's 9 AM, 12 noon, or hell 6 PM you will be happy with a bagel from this local chain that has big local appeal.
