Lovely to visit this place, full of history now partially restored by the Turkish govt. Built in the 4th century it overlooks Bodrum bay and has great views. Used primarily for gladiator battles and theatre plays during its heyday. Standing in the arena and looking around, it must of been amazing in it's day. You are free to climb up the steps and look around. Well worth a look.

Absolutely amazing place with free entrance. The views from there over downside Bodrum are also very nice. The only downside is a very busy highway that passes right by the Roman theatre. Shameful on the government planners!

Free to visit, but if you're walking be careful as nobody stops at the crossing to let you walk across the road

It was worth a visit to understand what it was like centuries ago when the theatre was first built. You can imagine how the audience felt by sitting in different areas of the theatre and looking out towards the sea. The bus stop is a short walk to the main entrance, and the buses are frequent enough to go back into Bodrum, or other areas.

We got there during a weekday in slow spring season. There were no cruise ships in port which means we got the whole place to ourselves. It was free to access, and you can go up the theatre. If left unmaintained, nature easily takes over. You can see pics online of what it looks like when the grass is cut. Toilets were closed when we got there. Not much historical facts to read. However, the site is on the side of a main road and worth a quick stop.

The Bodrum Ancient Theatre is a nice historical site with free entry and beautiful views over the city. It’s not necessarily a must-do compared to other attractions, but still worth a visit – and for free, definitely a nice experience!
