As a wedding photographer in the area, we’ve shot at a lot of venues around Golden and the Front Range, and Boettcher Mansion consistently stands out. Set up on Lookout Mountain, it has a beautiful historic feel that immediately elevates the experience for both couples and guests. The outdoor spaces are peaceful and scenic, and the indoor areas work beautifully if plans need to shift. It strikes a rare balance between feeling like a secluded mountain retreat while still being easy for everyone to get to.

The Boettcher Mansion is a fairytale venue! It is absolutely gorgeous inside, but the outdoor space is what really sold us. When my husband and I got married in June the flowers were in full bloom, and we were surrounded by butterflies. The mansion is in a pine forest and has fantastic mountain views (the lookout in the photo is just across the street). We really wanted our wedding to feel like a mountain, wildflower fantasy and Boettcher was perfect! All the staff at Boettcher are amazing! We primarily worked with Dana and Shea, who were both incredibly well organized and helpful throughout the planning process. Overall, Boettcher was our dream venue, and I would highly recommend it!

This place is absolutely beautiful. If you're in colorado, I highly suggest you take the time to make the drive and see the beautiful things that man has created.

As a wedding photographer I think Boettcher Mansion is amazing if you’re looking for a venue that feels like it is deep in the mountains but still has great connections to the Denver metro area. The Mansion is surrounded by forest and there are great mountain overlooks just across the street.

Beautiful space for a special event! My husband and I stopped here as we drove the Lariat Loop from Golden on 11/21/25. The place was being prepared for a wedding. With so much history and beauty in this place, I bet it was the best day ever for the happy couple!

Very, very peaceful location to hang out. Enjoyed just hanging out in the "Pine" room (my favorite room)

We got married at Boettcher Mansion last summer and it was perfect. 90% of our wedding was out of towners looking for a chance to escape the heat so we were trying to find something mountainous without the drive. I loved how unique the venue was, easy to access from the highway for out of town folk, and tucked away it felt once you were inside. We got some gorgeous mountain photos! Shea was so lovely and answered any questions we had. Our guests absolutely raved and I am still getting compliments on how unique it was. I think the important thing to know with the Mansion - it is not a typical style venue and is not a good fit for certain groups. For context, we had a 120 person afternoon wedding in July (2-7pm). I did a tremendous amount of research and painstakingly picked each vendor, who all ended up working together and are incredible. If you are a bride looking for a more inclusive-everything-included style venue, this is not it. IF you are willing to do work on researching vendors, you can make the Mansion work for you at your price point and are rewarded in something more custom. It can really rack up cost wise if you use all the recommended vendors and do all the add-ons. We rented the entire space (highly recommend) so our wedding moved throughout the venue and guests got different experiences. I loved the outside ceremony and they have nice white chairs that look great in photos. Cocktail hour was outside in the gardens - so pretty still in July! The reception was inside. I loved the stone walls, very little decor is needed which is awesome. If you have over 80ish people and want a dance floor, we did have to flip some tables to make room, but our catering team did it so fast and we did the first dance outside - then conga lined the party back inside. Honestly I think more people started dancing since they already were up and moving, so it worked better than I hoped. I would pick this 10 out of 10, but like I said, I think it's good to know this is not the spot for a bride without a planner or who is willing to do her homework. Because it is a historical site, if you have a lot of custom built out decor or a large wedding or want to get ready at the venue, this is not for you. If you have under 120, want something special, and are organized (or have a good friend who is) you have found the perfect spot. Photography credit: Melina Massengill (melinamassephoto)

Boettcher Mansion was a dream come true wedding venue for us! We got married on a Friday in September and it could not have been more perfect. It checked basically every box - cozy, woodsy, romantic ... a little bit of a fairy tale! They did some upgrades after we booked that really brightened up the place - redoing the floors, painting the lobby a gorgeous blue. Shea, the venue coordinator, was incredibly helpful and kind; she was so responsive to every question we had over the year of planning - and there were a LOT of questions... thanks Shea!! We added on the gazebo and the indoor and outdoor lighting package ... it did make it more expensive, but getting married on a Friday counteracted some of that added cost and the lighting was beautifully done, it added a soft, cozy glow to the evening. The main room and patio fit our 102 guests comfortably for the ceremony and reception. The dressing rooms were lovely and well-equipped, and everything flowed really seamlessly from the ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner to dancing. It was honestly a dream venue and we couldn't be happier we chose it! If you're looking for a gorgeous Colorado mountain venue with phenomenal staff - and prices definitely lower than some other ritzy mountain venues - this is the venue for you!
