The Humble Datil Pepper Exclusively Thrives in One Place

"Historic West King Street has seen lots of hip restaurants, bars, and boutiques popping up and Bog Brewery is a must-stop. They specialize in seasonally influenced Belgian, German, and American-Farmhouse style ales, including a delicious Smoked Datil Ale. The peppers are mesquite and applewood smoked lending a smoky, slow heat to an otherwise light-bodied beer." - Carrie Honaker

Google
Great beer and very relaxed atmosphere. We got 2 flights because I wanted to try as much as I could. Smoked Datil, Black Oat Lager and the Vienna Lager were my favorites. Will definitely be back anytime we are in St. Augustine.

Mitchell Moody

Google
Cool brewery with alot of unique options. My personal favorites are the Smoked Datil Ale and Hefeweizen. Pretty much encompasses everything someone born and raised in St. Augustine would love. The new taco spot out back is nice added bonus, too!

Amy Maynard

Google
Great selection of beer and a very good food truck. Patio is dog - friendly, and each table has an umbrella for shade.

Lisa Sims

Google
Super cool brewery off Kings Street. Worth the visit. Loved that they are doing a collab beer with a brewery closed by hurricanes. Bartender was friendly and informative. Will return.

Andrea Ross

Google
Great local brewery serving up delicious beer, cider and even prosecco! The vibe is friendly and doesn't feel touristy. Thank God! They have a delicious food truck in the back and seeding both indoors and out. My family and I have been coming here since they opened and it's a great addition to this corner of St. Augustine.

Google
This small brewery is super clean. You should try the Smoked Datil Ale and the Hefeweizen. They don't serve food, but there's a delicious taco truck on the back patio. My most recent visit I had a refreshing Belgian pineapple ale with some chicken tacos. It was a great combination.

Google
Great selection. Nice ample seating indoors and outside with plenty of parking. Andrew is the best! Super sociable and great hospitality

Google
New favorite brewery in St Augustine. Absolutely incredible vibes. Great beers — had the Vienna lager and witbier — and super friendly staff. Like, REALLY friendly!!! Board and card games stacked around the taproom, awesome patio seating (dog friendly) out back with food truck. Good merch too!!! Space is small but well used and feels welcoming. So happy to have discovered Bog! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
We've been to a couple of other breweries locally and this one is THE BEST!! Love the West King IPA. Nice and citrusy. We also had lunch at the taco truck. The mahi tacos are killer! Great place away from downtown with parking.

Yelp
6 Stars! Each and every brewery I go to is different in a way, but exactly the same. Happy, vibey, and full of love! I absolutely loved this place! Mostly because the girl serving our beers was kind and knowledgeable. Thank you! This is a very vibey little brewery with a lot of great beers on tap and a ton of character. I love the whole ambiance this place has going on. The inside was quaint. The outside was open and filled with adults enjoying their beers while there kids played and the Taco My Blessing food truck is definitely that, a blessing while having beers. I am glad this place is doing it right. I'll see you again very soon. Enjoy :D

Yelp
We arrived on a Monday around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. They do have a private lot, which is really nice given that parking is at such a premium in this area. They have an indoor and an outdoor seating area although the indoor area is a little small, but people were sitting at the bar when we went. They have a decent selection of beers available. My husband got the Helles lager and I opted for the pineapple ale. Surprisingly the pineapple is super super light and I barely tasted any at all. Helle's lager was OK. The bartender was super friendly though, we really enjoyed her. The ambience wasn't quite our scene so we continued on with our plans for the day but glad we stopped in

Yelp
Very solid little brewery in St Augustine. I had their IPA and my buddy had the stout. We both enjoyed them. The ambience of the old building and the low key interior was refreshing. Go check them out.

Yelp
Love a place with flights. $2 samples of each and I don't think you have to fill up all 5 slots. The beers change often. There's seating inside and outside. It was tough to get a spot on Saturday night. The place gets pretty packed. There's a food truck that closes at 8pm. We had fun!
google avatar

Melody L.

Yelp
This bar is fun and they have a taco truck onsite. We had the smoked datil ale beer and the festbier beer. The smoked datil ale had a subtle spice at the end. It wasn't too spicy. 9/10 datil

Yelp
This tiny little speck of a brewery is located in the dumpiest part of St. Augustine on King St. it's an old store, warehouse or some such thing. Exposed brick, wood ceiling beams, etc...industrial chic. Barkeep was spending most of his energy yapping with his loudmouth pals at the bar rather than taking care of other paying folks. Well, once a couple of the loud ones left, we sat at the bar and became part of the small crowd. Barkeep started including us into the conversation and so did the remaining apparent regulars. Meantime, kinda loud rock and alternative playing overhead; made for relaxing vibe. Amidst/alongside the bar is the brewery itself; very compact but they make all their own stuff, be it bottles or kegs. I stuck with the Pilsner and Queen Bee with Smoked Datil Ale; the latter had a real kick of locally grown red pepper. Wow! Both were quite crisp and clean in the flavor department. We shoulda got here earlier, because as we sat here we both came closer to feeling like friends rather than afterthoughts. However after the owner replied to me with a snarky reply of my review, I took away a star; hence 3 rather than the 4 it deserves. I've never seen anyone get so bloody offended and personally hurt by a 4-star review. Good luck in your venture, Steven. Glad to say you won't ever see me again since I don't live anywhere near here anyway. Way to go for customer care!

Yelp
You can tell Bog Brewing is a small batch brewery with a brewer who is not afraid to take risks.  Sours require Wild yeast which can do some crazy things to beer.  Both the Saisons are sour and have some very interesting flavor profiles.  And the smoke Datil is absolutely amazing. There is a tap room inside and plenty of outside seating.  Parking is on the side of the building. The BEER: Sun Rips... NEIPA  DIPA 7.9% ABV...  the description says tons of papaya, and that's what I got too.  It is a great drinking IPA. Sans Orange IPA 6.3% ABV... orange and grapefruit, it's quite good Smoked Datil Ale 5% ABV... smooth tasting with a bite at the end.  Really liked this one. Saison de Muscadine 9.6% ABV... this is a really sneaky sour.  It is delicious and the ABV is masked by that deep white grape flavor. O.A.M.C. Saison (Oak Aged Mixed Culture) 7.6% ABV... didn't love this one, mostly because I am not into grass or hay Black Oat Lager 5.3% ABV... malty and easy drinking, very good Winter Bock 7% ABV... this should be called winner bock, it is a winner! West King Haze IPA 6.5% ABV... hazy, juicy and wonderful It is good to know that there is some great, creative and interesting beer in St. Augustine FL.  Bog Brewing represents that statement fully.

Yelp
Feeling bogged down? Well worth the detour when in the St. Aug area, Bog Brewery is great respite from the road. Grab a flight of #tastethebeerrainbow or a pint from their variety of beer options and styles then take a seat in the fun (and comfy!) barrel chairs. Beers here are true to style and staff is friendly and welcoming. Love discovering new breweries #ontheroad

Yelp
What a cool place!!!! This is a hole in the wall kind of place. If you aren't looking for it you will miss it. They had parking behind the building which was a plus. The staff was super friendly and helped me find the perfect beer (they gave me 4 samples of beers until I found the one I liked) their shirt logos are absolutely amazing and all though I would have loved a shirt I ended up getting just a sticker. This place is a must visit!!!!

Yelp
After visiting Maggie's Herb Farm, I looked for a place to eat and hang out with family afterwards. Bog brewing was a drive, but close enough that we took the scenic route and drove there. I had looked to make sure they served food and allowed dogs there. Yelp has old pictures of Mannys Cuban Food, which is incorrect because now it is Tacos My Blessings food truck. We pulled up to the dirt parking lot and were able to find a space in the back. It gets crowded quickly, and this was around 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon. They have a fake grass area with toys for the kids, the food truck, seating, and access to the brewery. We found an end spot with plenty of seating and browsed the food menu for lunch. I chose the pork quesadilla, and my mom chose the three tacos with chorizo and steak. We were able to get a cup of beans for my toddler son. My mom then went inside to order drinks. I chose the Snow Rips DIPA, and my mom chose one of their ciders. Our food came out quickly, as well as the beers. The food was authentic Mexican, with lots of flavor, ingredients, and a freshness that is hard to find. The DIPA was light but had a good citrus hoppy flavor to it. We were able to enjoy everything outside for over an hour, and the dog was happy sniffing and meeting new friends. I'm glad we stopped by and highly recommend!

Yelp
Great ambiance with decent beers and okay service. We ordered a flight of five beers...Sun Rips beer was our favorite beer out of the five. They had a food truck there...Taco's My Blessing...that was fantastic! We had the three tacos, 2 chicken and 1 beef, and they were super flavorful. We will visit again and hopefully have better luck on the beers!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this brewery! We were a group of 4, and we all ordered flights - 5 samples per flight. Everything I tried from IPA to their sour was delicious. We sat outside at a picnic table then ventured indoors to order more and to play some of their games they have. This is definitely one of my fave breweries in the area.

Yelp
Super cute and chill. It's within walking distance of the Saint Augustine wedge house - friends' Airbnb. Definitely a little hole in the wall. Mostly locals were in there with their dogs. Small bar area inside with a few tables. There are a few patio tables outback With a nice graveled area and umbrellas. They also have a food trucks on the weekend it looks like. The beer was good. Great price at $5. Limited menu, but can find something for just about everyone. Staff was friendly Prices are reasonable Service was quick Photogenic spot/cool for chillin' Quality beer

Yelp
Fantastic Czech lager! The stout is also a great choice! Parking is easy, outdoor and inside seating, and good service.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here when we were on a mini vacation to the St. Augustine area. We came in when it was a slower time for the place/prior to them getting busy. Our beer tender was super friendly and helpful. We tried a variety of beers - the Belgian Witbier; Beach House IPA; Black lager; Leichtbier; and the cream ale. Everything was delicious. We also liked the reverse osmosis water they had onsite as well. This is a great brewery stop to visit when you're in the St. Augustine area!

Yelp
West King Street location is an up& coming community and there is parking here, altho the lot is shared with several other businesses. There is both indoor & outdoor seating. I have been several times and enjoyed everything I drank, and the smoked datil is especially unique!
google avatar

Yelp
Best Brewery in Florida. Sounds cliché but it's true. Bog is a spacious and friendly joint with a balanced variety of brews that are made with layered notes of quality and fragrant perfection. No PBRs here but this ain't no dove bar ;) Get a flight and sample them all! My favorite is a rare brew that is a smooth Pilsner/Lager with a mellow spicy bite: Datil Ale. PS The Taco Truck out back is a perfect addition!

Yelp
Just your average Brewery I only frequent this place only on 6 to 9 months rotations because nothing much changes at this place. Its a small brewery set in their ways not really brewing any big beers or anything that will knock your socks off that will make you say, "damn that was awesome, I want to come back again!" As for a few of their beers. I've had every one of them on tap even after coming back six months later and they were all still on tap nothing changed. Their grapefruit wheat would've made a better IPA than a wheat. Unless you enjoy the yeasty wheat aftertaste. Only one of their beers I've had in a bottle has rained supreme over all others. "The Darkness" this was a Belgium Quadruple style beer 10.8% ABV. It was definitely barrel aged had that nice gram-cracker Belgiumy raisin molasses taste to it. Sadly I only ever bought one bottle. I still kick myself in the butt for not buying 2 because it was that good! As for everything else about the place it's located on West King Street, it's a little bit of a sketchy area during the night-time hours but as the area continues to grow I don't see it being an issue just don't go past the railroad tracks on foot at night. LoL **Overall, it's an alright place with just average beers. Nothing that really stuck out and wowed me. They seem to cater to the laid back people that are set in their ways of the area and don't like to go crazy with beer experimentation.

Yelp
Having flight of 4 IPA's and the blackberry lime sour..... all top notch.... I'm from Tampa and this place reminds me of Big Storm Brewery before they went commercial and became mediocre.... Enjoy this place while it's small my friends! What craft beer experience is all about! Certified Fresh by Mr Wonderful.

Yelp
What an amazing spot! You pull in and you're not really sure what to expect. There is MUSIC and the vibe is just right! There is a taco truck right outside that I have yet to try as they close at 8 just as I was going to order. The bartender Tara was working and she was outstanding. She is knowledgeable on all the beers they offer. Her kind spirit and bubbly personality was a perfect touch to the overall experience! I tried a datil pepper beer and man was it good! Hoppy with a hint of spice! Boom! Such an interesting concept as it hit my taste buds. It was like nothing that I have ever tried before. This joint isn't boring, it isn't blah, it is full of energy like a brewery should be! It screams locals and I'm all about it! We can not wait to return! A local gem tucked off a side street with some of the best brews. Cheers!!!

Yelp
Datil pepper beer is the best here. It is not always on tap but it is worth makings trip when it is flowing. All the other beers are great also. The staff is always nice and the taproom is cozy sand clean. The bathrooms are gender neutral and there are two of them. There are board and card games on the shelves. Parking is not paved around the side and back. The outdoor area is minimal with just a couple picnic tables.
google avatar

Hannah W.

Yelp
Much better vibe than Dog Rose. The selection and quality of the beer was exponentially better. The bartender provided endless samples and very knowledgeable about each. The Ginger beer potent, yet balanced. If you like ginger, you'll like this beer. Be prepared to burp. The back area was smaller, but nice. And the fire pit was a cool addition.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
First time with here with the family- all of drinking age. It was early was easy. Pretty small brewery not the biggest selection but what they have would have something that would appeal to a beer drinker. Did a flight of three - an oatmeal stout, saison and a tripel. Lots of board games to play and darts too. Will definitely go back.
google avatar

Matthew T.

Yelp
This spot became my go-to when I was living in St Augustine. This place is awesome. Really homey vibe, great beertenders, and a versatile selection of beers from pale ales to saisons to vienna lagers and sours. Really great prices too. Hands down my fav brewery in St Augustine
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Such a great spot! Delicious variety of beers plus they have a taco truck out back. My family and I had such a great time playing cards games outside, enjoying the atmosphere and great drinks/tacos. They also serve wine as well!
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
Came in for the Grapefruit IPA. It was good. The Oatmeal Coffee Stout still is my fav. But beside the excellent company of my lovely bride on this Valentine's Day Eve Eve, Ashley's musical selections tonight were the best part of the night. I can't recall the last time I was here that I saw people singing to the tunes overhead.
google avatar

Chase L.

Yelp
This is hands down the best brewery in St Augustine. Great selection of craft beers, great staff, and a hidden gem of the best Mexican food in town, out back. I recommend this place to EVERYONE!!!

H H.

Yelp
Great local place to hang out and try some local beer. They also have a taco truck (Tacos My Blessing) in the back - but check for open times. Highly recommend visiting on a nice day and sitting out back. My favorite is the Datil Pepper Beer :)

Robert G.

Yelp
We love Bog. Every time in StA Bog is a must. Low key, fun service with a good variety. I'm an IPA guy and love the Sun Rips! Go ... you won't be sorry.
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
Quaint brewery, off the beaten path in Saint Augustine! The beers here are very unique, you definitely won't find these beers at just any brewery. My husband and I tried a few different ones. My favorite was the sour! Clean, nice staff, and dog friendly!
google avatar

Jesse O.

Yelp
I really, really enjoy the beer here. We came in on a Thursday night, just missed the food truck that's there on the patio, just after 7pm. Had a couple of beers, staff was pretty good with all the guests, even this fairly odd woman, we'll get back to her. The beers we tried blackberry like sour, socal ipa and the black oat lager, all delicious, strongly recommend them all. We're finishing up and another guests comes in from the patio asking if anyone was driving a blue Toyota, it was mine, the odd woman from before backed in a drove off, classic hit and run. The way a guest alerted us and the staff handling was above and beyond what's expected. My bumper was fine btw. If you're looking for great beer and great people, minus the odd lady, you need to check this place out.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
A great place outside of the tourist area to sit back and have a few of their great beers and a bit of conversation.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
The area is a little sketchy. Absolutely nobody on the patio and the inside isn't dog friendly. It's a pass when there are so many other breweries in the area
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
Stop two on the annual Nights of Pints tour! Big has a great lineup of craft beer with a heavy German and Belgian focus. My dry-hopped Keller Pils was outstanding. Fun, casual vibe with good service, good tunes, nice outdoor patio and a taco stand.
google avatar

Carla U.

Yelp
Several brews on tap with a nice variety. I prefer the lighter beers such as wheat or Kolsch style. I had the Bayfront Lager and my husband had the Hazy IPA. The lager was fresh and light, not hoppy. My husband really enjoyed the Hazy. The next time we go I will try the Hefeweizen. They also offer wine for those not wanting beer. The staff was very friendly and there seemed to be several "regular" customers present. There are darts and board games for people to enjoy.
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
Very chill brew house. The bartender was especially helpful with beer choice. Some really good beers here! The Kolsch was my favorite. The datil cream was such a perfect St Augustine beer. Had a great time relaxing and having a 'couple' of awesome brews.
google avatar

Katelyn B.

Yelp
This place was okay but not our favorite. Fairly limited menu and we didn't feel overly welcome. Most of the patrons were locals and knew the bartender, but she kind of ignored us to talk to them when we asked questions. We felt sort of like we were imposing on the usually crowd which isn't a huge deal. We definitely enjoyed the atmosphere at Dog Rose more.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool little brewery. They have have their brewhouse right in the tasting room which is really cool. This is a nice relaxed place to hang out and have local brew. My wife and I tried a flight of all 9 of their beers. Some are good, some not my style. My favs: session IPA, chipotle porter, cocoa vanilla stout, Amber rye. The rest of the beers were not good in my opinion. Anyway, this place is cool and a good place to chill with friends.
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Very diverse brewery with something for everyone. All three IPAs they had on tap were smooth and full of flavor. My favorite beer I tried was their sour, Mango Tart. Definitely would come again the next time we're in town.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
If they are not an ideal brew pub (too small?) they are definitely well underway. Loved their sour and dubbel
google avatar

Josh F.

Yelp
Very chill, great beer, generous with samples. Justin is phenomenal. Night of pints shirts are awesome this year
google avatar

Andy J.

Yelp
Stopped in during a visit to Saint Augustine. So glad we did because they have a good selection of beer styles and they are all solid. Amber Rye - good example of the amber style with lots of caramel, wish it had a little more rye though Chipotle Porter - nice roasted malt taste with just a hint of smoke. Subtle heat in the aftertaste once you drink about half a glass Cream Ale - light and crisp easy drinker for the hot days of summer. Dry-Hopped IPA - very nice IPA with wonderful citrus and pine hops Oatmeal Coffee Stout - lots of coffee and some dark chocolate riding on a sweet malt backbone. The owners are friendly approachable guys too. Hoping they delve into some imperial brews too because that could really make a name for these guys. Really good beer period - from a small startup brewery is a feather in their cap. The only thing they need to work on is naming their beers. (Let me know if you need some input guys!)
google avatar

Alison S.

Yelp
The beer was great! We went earlier in the day on a Friday so it was easy to social distance but I can see how it could get crowded easily in the evenings. The taco stand out back was also fantastic!!!

C S.

Yelp
Off the beaten path but worth the visit! Very chill Vibe and very friendly bar staff..excellent products! You won't be disappointed.. all the locales recommended this spot.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Great small brewery, limited space, but very nice and rustic. We had a couple excellent IPAs and a couple Belgian quads. Enjoyed it and will be back
google avatar

Luke S.

Yelp
Came late at night on a Thursday. Pleasantly surprised that they were open til midnight which made it a great stop during our road trip. Service was great and so was the beers. Easy to miss if you are driving by too quick. Flights are reasonable (paid $9 plus tip for 5) and provide a great way to taste their beers. Also have awesome merchandise! Parking on site!
google avatar

Dean F.

Yelp
My favorite brewery. Great homemade ales. They've got a food truck outside if you get hungry but you're free to bring your food in. For Saint Augustine the prices are very reasonable.

Jon P.

Yelp
What is there to complain about other than they need more parking? The beer is awesome- regardless of the style you prefer. They have lagers, they have IPAs, Goses. They have a Datil Ale that is evil- the heat sneaks up on you and then you have to drink more to quench the fire. The bartenders are awesome - Mags, Tara, Jenna are great. Friendly, attentive, and hard working. Best micro- brew in town, by far. Just avoid their Vienna Lager - it is all mine.
