Bogart's Restaurant and Tavern

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, so when I searched for best burger in the Waynesville area today it came highly recommended. I must say, they weren't wrong! I had a burger with pimento cheese, grilled onions and bacon, with baked potato soup as my side and everything was absolutely delicious! My friend and I also split their house made peach cobbler, which comes with ice cream, and it was really good too...I think our server was the best part of our experience today, though, and I'm kicking myself in the butt for not remembering her name so I could give her a shout out! Hopefully she'll see this review and remember the kooky old ladies she served at lunch today!

The food was delicious! My steak was cooked perfectly. We got the onion rings for appetizer & they were good as well!

Steak is very good good flavor, not overpowered with seasoning.the french fries are definitely on the salty side they would get 4 1/2 or five star if they didn’t water down the baked potato with margarine instead of butter

We had a good lunch experience at Bogarts. We were seated after about 15 minutes and had to park across the street. We had a mix of entrees, including steak salad, potato soup, outlander sandwich, and gobbler sandwich. The potato soup was delicious and flavorful. The sandwiches were also decent. The steak was good in the salad, and the ranch dressing seemed homemade. We were disappointed that they didn’t have beef tips but they said it was (unusually) due to a holiday weekend. (This didn’t really make sense). Service was good, and our waitress was attentive, accommodating and friendly. Overall, we enjoyed this place for lunch and have visited several other times too. We would recommend this place if you’re in the area.

We loved our visit here while driving thru. Super cool atmosphere but what made this amazing was the patrons and staff. EVERYONE seemed like a regular, but they all were friendly to us "out of towners"! We interacted with the owner and most of the staff and they were all amazing and friendly and so kind and amazing and sweet. Thank you for a great experience! Cheers and great success to you!

Bogarts has that "old steakhouse" feel to it. Like when Jim Gaffigan talks about steak houses pretending people might not recognize vegetables, I now envision Bogarts. It's a good thing, I promise. We love Waynesville and we're there all the time and we keep trying to make sure local business gets all of our $. We gave Bogarts a couple attempts, and honestly it just fell short both times. We've done the ribeye, filet, smothered chicken and a couple salads for the adults. The steaks were properly cooked, but the seasoning on them just didn't hit and both times I felt like the meat quality wasn't quite up to the standards it should have been for price. The sides and other meals felt like they were afterthoughts. Desserts looked great but when we tried them the cheesecake was chewy and my kids said the peanut butter landslide wasn't good and they'll eat anything made of sugar. Oddly the bar is just beer and house wines. I personally like an old fashioned when I'm eating a steak, but I won't turn my nose up to a nice beer. Selection was very limited on beer and I ultimately decided it was a water night on the second visit. Wife said the house wines were pretty much "meh". Waitstaff was great, though.

Once you get past the fact it’s extremely dark to the point a flashlight had to be used to see the menu you’ll find the food is good. We had a couple of people with us that had food allergies, and the server was very understanding asked questions from the kitchen and helped us with that situation. The people with the allergies very much enjoyed their chicken sandwich and said it was very delicious. Overall, the food here is solid. The atmosphere however very much needs some improvements and a couple of lights or lamps might go along way.

Was visiting Cataloochee on a winter trip and searched for good place to get a steak and potato. Found Bogarts was well rated. The ribeye and loaded baked potato were superb along with the customer service. Came back another night and got a cheeseburger which was great as well. God bless!

Hubby and I stopped here on our way home from Sylva because I had heard good things about their stuffed sweet potato. Ermagerd! It was glorious. The potato itself was huge and flavorful, the pulled pork was tender and the bbq sauce was tangy. It came with a side so I had the coleslaw which was crisp and had great flavor. Hubby had the steamed veggies (squash, zucchini, broccoli, and cauliflower) it wasn't soggy and the veggies looked fresh. Martha was really sweet and attentive, we really were well taken care of. It's really cute inside with the bear decor. We will definitely be back again.

Quaint and rustic. Very comfortable and relaxed. Perfect after a long day of hiking. I had the Bogart sub with fries. My wife had the grilled chicken salad. Both were surprisingly delicious. Service was fantastic. Bella waited on us and she was as sweet as she could be. Will definitely go back, even go out of our way to enjoy this place. Strongly recommend.

Bogart's is always a favorite and never disappoints. This restaurant gets crowded and parking can be difficult but it's worth the stop. We enjoy sitting on the bar side or at the bar because it's a little brighter durning the day. Everything we have eaten has been good and we try to order something different each time we visit. Their steak and salads are always delicious. Our servers have always been friendly and attentive to our dining needs. So if your looking for a date night, place to meet friends or a stop and grab lunch location give Bogart's a try.

Food was good and fairly quick. We had the 8oz ribeye with loaded baked potatoes and a salad.

Great restaurant for steaks done the way you like them cooked. This is a good family restaurant as well. Locals frequent this place so you know it's good.

Decent food but the salad my wife got with the over seasoned grilled chicken was so salty she couldn't eat it. Onion rings were ok nothing great. The one thing I would recommend is the grilled pork chops they were perfect and the only reason I didn't give this place a one star rating.

5 ate for $92 before tip and including an appetizer (no alcohol) inside is really nice, rustic barn look, low light and nicer ambiance. The food is SOLID. The chopped steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor - to accompany them I got the mixed veggies sautéed instead of steamed and again - flavor unreal! The loaded sweet potato is truly on another level - packed with flavorful meat and huge. Impressed with the food. The men's room was rough - needs to be ripped out and replaced new. Great service and impressive waiters (grown folk - no kids) was a solid 4 and would be a five if men's room had some bleach poured in it.

Food was awesome. Server was amazing! I stop here every time I'm in Maggie Valley. Even if you have to wait, it's worth it. Get the fried mushrooms.

Our waitress was a sweetheart and hubby's steak was good. The front staff, male and female, are extremely rude and dismissive. Asked a simple question and received nothing but ATTITUDE. They need to be put in the back of the house and not dealing with the general public.

We were seated right away. We had the salad with fried chicken and ranch dressing both were so delicious, also had the chopped steak it too was delicious, although it was done a bit more than it should've been. Baked potatoes are good and the grilled veggies were so tasty in a large bowl ( instead of the salad). Our server was great (I forgot her name), very attentive and kept topping off our Diet Coke. Very nice setting but watch out for those bears hanging on the rafters above your table. :)

Found this place and it is fantastic, and reasonably priced! Cool atmosphere and the service was great! I would suggest making the drive out to Waynesville for this place.

Ribeye steak was tough and grisly..salmon very dry. Rice was wet. Salads were good and baked potato was sadly the star. Chocolate "brownie" was really a cake.

Not what we expected. Food quality was less than desirable. Service was lacking...maybe they were short staffed? I think my soup was right out of a can. We left a lot of our food on our plates...portion sizes are huge- maybe that is what attracts customers, but it was VERY salty and I couldn't eat it. :/

First time here....annnnnd. I will be back if/when I'm in the area again. Sat at the bar and ordered fried mushrooms for an appetizer. Mushrooms were a bit small, freshly cooked with good flavor and dipping sauces. Ordered the 12 oz ribeye. GREAT choice. Got potato salad as a side. Very good potato salad as well! Bottom line.... Atmosphere....C (TV at the bar not working) Atmosphere (comfort of table/chairs)...B Staff friendliness... B+ Server friendliness and attentiveness.... B+ Entree quality...A- Portion sizes... B+ I would recommend!

We were seated quickly but the booth was small and we felt like very packed into the booth. Had the ribeye special. Steak was a bit overcooked, for both my spouse and I. Baked potatoes were good. My friend's fried shrimp didn't taste good at all and my other friend's potato soup was cold. Salad was good. Waitress was nice but didn't fill our drinks until the end of dinner.

This is ALWAYS a must when I'm visiting my hometown for a few days! I always get the chopped steak with mushrooms, onions and green peppers as my entree with fries and a house salad with French dressing! It's delish! Other favorable mentions include the Susie Salad, the chicken Philly and their filet mignon! I've been eating at Bogart's since it's original location in 2004/2005 and I've never had a meal that wasn't wonderful! Staff is always pleasant and I never have to ask for a refill because the staff is always attentive!

On Memorial Day, our original lunch plans didn't pan out so we scrambled for an alternative plan that could accommodate a table for 6, and Yelp found us a table that worked out great. They do take their not-seating-incomplete-tables policy pretty seriously. They appear to be a little bit short-staffed, but our server did a good job overall. Prices are very reasonable especially given the large serving size, and we all enjoyed our meals. I can personally vouch for the "Manco Sneed" sandwich. It's essentially a turkey club, but all the ingredients were fresh, the bacon was delicious, the bread was toasted just right, and the apricot mayo really stepped it up a level. They also had great onion rings. My family members enjoyed everything they ordered as well- including the works burger and the Philly. They had a good selection of North Carolina beers as well. The menu definitely has something for everyone. I'd go back next time I'm in the area.

I went to Bogarts for my birthday. I had previously eaten at Bogarts 4 years ago when I was visiting from out of town and I had a very good time with great food and a very friendly and professional staff. When we arrive, there were several teenage girls surrounding the front entrance and hostess stand. They continued to linger there throughout our meal and were loud and unprofessional. It actually sounded as though a group of small children were in the restaurant but there wasn't. The steaks were tough and overpriced. The salads and bread were not fresh. My father used the restroom and said it was disgusting. I will never eat there again and I will never recommend eating there to anyon. Don't waste your money or time.

The food is always okay, not outstanding either way. The inside is very nice and feels like a cabin and the staff are usually great. I just think it's a little overrated and not really worth the long wait.

Good food, atmosphere and service was excellent. We had 5 of our grandkids with us and everyone was happy. Would recommend and will eat there again when in town.

Three words: Prolific Sweet Potato. Just do it. Pulled pork, bacon, BBQ sauce, chipotle, all piled into a baked sweet potato larger than Lebron's left Nike.

I like Bogarts. I always sit at the bar and receive good service. A few things to note, however: There is no liquor. But they so have beer and wine. I can live with this. More importantly is that they are not vegan friendly. There is nothing on the menu that you can eat if you are lactose intolerant and/or vegan. And that being said, don't try this place if you're looking for healthy fare. Which is totally fine, just keep that in mind. Vegans and people on diets can enjoy some sides like rice and steamed veggies but not a full meal. All around however a great place to try. We eat here quite often.

Great locals type place. Very large with a nice bar area and dining area. Simple menu with sandwiches and other standards. Perfect service and the food and drinks came out fast. Food quality was average but hard to hurt burgers and sandwiches. They also had a decent steak selection but everything was "market price". We were there around 3 so decided to just have a sandwich. They would sell a lot more steaks if they printed a little piece of paper with the market prices on them for the day. Parking is good but not enough spots for the amount of tables. All in all work a stop if you are in waynesville

Service isn't always the best, I've had times where they were super rude and I've just left. But the food is just Super gooey good, if you can get past the wait times and the staff...

Food was good, waitress was decent. The host Kimberly at the front has a bad attitude and was rude.

We stopped in for beer and dessert and this place did not disappoint. I enjoyed a shock top draft and peach cobbler. The service was fast and would definitely stop by again and try their dinner items.

The only positives I can say about this place is hubby's steak was good and our waitress was a sweetheart. The front staff, male and female duo, I could have done without. Asked a simple question and they were super dismissive, arrogant and plain rude. Instead of the ATTITUDE, they could've explained their response. They need to be in the back of the house.

We went here during our group trip to Maggie Valley for my birthday. The food is some of the best we've had from a restaurant, and the steak is absolutely amazing! Tender, wonderful flavor! The folks there were just as friendly as they could be, and I got a free dessert for my birthday.

This was very good food. I was intimidated because the grouper looked raw and the special included crème brûlée, which I don't love. But the fish was amazing and so was the dessert. Highly recommend. Top notch place and service!!!

This is a must when visiting Waynesville. The atmosphere is like you are having dinner at the lodge. The bears at a whimsical element(just don't lpet them and yes it's just a stuffed animal not real). The staff is attentive, friendly and fun to chat with. The steak is flavorful and always cooked to perfection. My wife loves the loaded sweet potato. Oh, don't forget a cup of the potato soup-always hot , creamy and paired with the bread is almost a meal in itself.

called ahead to check on the wait. Someone on the phone said. It's not busy now but, that could change when you get here. Was 5 minutes away. Had a Philly cheesesteak and onion rings. Wait time was only like 15 minutes. It was very hot . Only problem was. It was very salty. My wife said her cheeseburger was salty too. Other than that, great place. Our waitress ( Judy) was great. Very attentive. My wife drink Diet Pepsi ( she might as well have an I.V.) She never had to ask once for a refill. I can't imagine how many steps she must get in. She said that she don't work out. We told her yeah you do. Every single day. Check it out. Nice place.

Bogarts is awesome! The food is delicious, the service is always friendly. The ambiance is nice and cozy. Any time we see someone asking about a place to eat in the area, we always tell them Bogarts in Waynesville!

This place is like stepping back in time. It's your sort of classic neighborhood bar restaurant whatever it's really great in a lot of ways. The steaks are a little thin not fabulous even though it says it's a steakhouse. I don't know if I would consider a steakhouse exactly, but it's a fun place Mostly Republican I have to say that the service staff the wait staff are terrific. It's where the locals eat.

Stopped in at Bogart's on my way home from the WNC Jeepfest. The bartender provided outstanding service with a smile. It was hard to choose as the menu provided many good options. I ordered the club sandwich with roasted apples. Good choice! Bogart's has a decent selection of beers and wine. The homemade peach cobbler gives my mother's recipe.

We went around 6:30 for dinner. Wait was minimal. Our server was not very attentive, we had to keep repeating what we ordered. Our appetizer came out with our meal and it was cold so we asked that it taken back and not charged. I asked for extra butter but never received it. Drinks were not refilled until we could flag our server down. Overall not a good experience

The food and service was fantastic here. When it comes to spending money most people have high standards and I'm sure this restaurant would surpass them. The food tasted great and had unique flavor. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and I've never had anything like it, it was great! The music was good and satisfied all around us. It wasn't too loud or too quiet. We could easily talk over it and enjoy it. Our server made the experience even better. Josh was kind and very polite. He made sure our beverage classes were never less than half way full and he offered any condiments we might had needed. He kept a conversation and still got the job done. Such a great multitasker. I would definitely visit this restaurant again!

Always great food and atmosphere at a reasonable price. Staff is excellent. Wide variety on the menu. If you can't find something you like then you must be the pickiest eater on earth
