Stopped into Bohemien Bar on Friday night. Enjoyed a few cocktails and shared some food items at this stylish retro bar.
Quality: Looking for a place to continue sipping on cocktails, but also had a decent food menu we ended up at Bohemian Bar. And while they are definitely more of a bar than restaurant, it was the food that impressed. We started with cocktails though, and I went with Jamaica. With tequila, grand marnier, hibiscus, lime, and ghost pepper, it was interesting and fun. Not quite the heat I expected, but extremely refreshing. I also got sips of the Butterfly, a very pretty, but not my style vodka beverage and a Mambo No. 5, a rum drink that was all over the place. For food our table shared a wonderful Baked Brie, a high recommendation for all. And my girlfriend and I split the skippable Duck Flatbread and the excellent crunchy Tuna Tart. The rest of our table liked the taco options and the crispy cauliflower, while our server mentioned the beet dip as the most popular menu item.
Quantity: All the food was made for sharing, which is the correct bar approach. And the cocktails were all a fair size.
Value: $15 for the Cocktails. $14 for the Baked Brie. $13 for the Tuna Tart. $17 for the Duck Flatbread.
Ambiance: Bohemian Bar is a very chic cocktail bar located in Brooklyn Heights. It is at the very west end of Atlantic Ave, just a block from the water. They had a small outdoor setup, but on an ugly evening, it wasn't even a consideration for us. Instead we walked into the retro music studio style bar. It is a uniquely designed because it creates all sorts of sound coves, which was nice for parties, but would create a level of separation if you hoped to mingle. Speakers can be found everywhere, and there is a little DJ booth, so I assume they plan to host live music. They had excellent selection of disco and house tunes playing during our visit, though I don't think they were showing off the full potential of the sound system.
Crowd: The bar opened during COVID and seems to have flown under the radar. On Saturday night we were one of only three groups in the beautiful space.
Service: Friendly and efficient. Our group ordered a bunch of food and it flew out of the kitchen and we never needed to wait long for drinks.
Parking: Some street parking in the nearby area.
