The Best Picnic Spots in Paris, According to Locals | Vogue

"The city’s largest green space on the edge of the 12th, where my meandering route from the Coulée Verte René‑Dumont makes me feel like I’ve left Paris without leaving; I usually end near Lac Daumesnil for generous tree cover and shade." - Nicole Kliest

This beautiful and deceptively big green space is definitely one of the "lungs" of Paris. I've been exploring this wooded forest but really didn't stop to breathe and admire its enormity and what it contributes to this city. There are tracks for all, joggers, dogs, horses, walkers, etcetera. There's so much to discover here if you have the stamina and adventurous spirit to explore beyond the beaten tracks. My favourite spot is the kiosk and grotto on Reuilly Island in Lake Daumesnil (la grotte de l'île de Reuilly du lac Daumesnil). The walk through this green space took us from Nogent-sur-Marne to Vincennes and it's flat ground all the way. Be aware that the tracks get muddy in cooler months but dogs love it. It's accessible from the heart of Paris by taking RER line A to Nogent-sur-Marne and short walk to the beginning of the park at Jardin d'Agronomie Tropicale de Paris or take Metro 1 to Château de Vincennes and walk towards Nogent-sur-Marne via many tracks at Bois de Vincennes. It's definitely worth exploring.

It is really, really recommended to visit the place, a huge, beautiful forest, one of the most amazing places in the Paris area. A large lake that stretches the length of the forest, beautiful and rich vegetation that creates an amazing atmosphere. Fun for running and also just sitting and walking around, !You should definitely come

Great place to go for a walk. So chill place without the hustle and bustle of the city, just surrounded by nature. Pavements were in good shape, so even wheelchair/walker users can experience this trail.

This is one of Paris’ most bountiful parks. Bit of a hike from central Paris and totally worth it. Huge woods, dozens of paths, many well maintained. Lots of dog walkers and bird watchers (with the rose ringed parakeet a screechy local delight). Come here with a picnic or come here to get lost, it is an oasis of nature. And grabbing the coulee verte renee dumont from bastile means 2/3 of the way here is in green spaces. Woohoo!

I love bois de Vincennes for long walks in nature close to the city! It also connects Paris to the close suburbs and when the weather is good, crossing from one side to the other an amazing way to way to pass the day!

Yelp
This park is a must-see if you are in Paris with young children in the warm months. It is enormous, so plan well and you can have a day enjoying picnic on grass, renting boats, eating ice cream, and wandering through the peaceful woods. There are bicycle rentals as well, for older kids and adults. For younger kids, the Guignol and area around that park--not sure if it is the Parc Floral but they are in the same area--is really fun and one of the few places where kids can be free to just run around, even on the grass. It was well-worth packing a picnic in the city and taking a metro for a while to get a bit a of green break from the grays and limestones of Paris.

Yelp
I loved jogging to my neighborhood park and passing the children on pony rides and the row boaters in the man-made pond. It is a lovely spot to visit if you are in the 12th but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. You can stop by one of the many boulangeries on Avenue Dausmenil for a snack and take it with you to sit in the park. Most of the nearby boulangeries and pâtisseries remain open, even on Sundays.

Yelp
All great cities have great parks; they need them. As cities become denser and busier, their residents are more likely to crowd into tiny, overpriced apartments that are not quite amenable to hanging out or relaxing. Thus arises the requirement for bigger and better urban parkland. Such is the case with Paris. At the eastern edge of Paris, the Bois de Vincennes rises to the occasion. Manicured in the English landscape style, it has a couple of small lakes separated by gently rolling grass and trees. There's also a stage (I saw a jazz festival there in Summer 2009), a château, a hippodrome, a velodrome, and an arboretum. There's nothing better to counter the bustle of Paris than an afternoon lazing about the Bois de Vincennes.

Yelp
This park is beautiful and has something for everyone. When the sun is shining over Paris, this is a wonderful place to be. There's beautiful gardens to walk through, full of colour and greenery. There's the small lake to wander around. There's an adventure playground for the kids. There's a small cafe and ice cream stall to pick up snacks and drinks. Lots of sunbathers and people relaxing here, which makes it a lovely place to visit away from the city centre. I stay close to here whenever I visit Paris, and I always try to take time out to wander down here because it's a pretty place, full of life and energy. There are always plenty of joggers and other sporty people too, which is quite inspiring for me.

Yelp
this is a lovely park - very different from the more manicured and landscaped parks that paris offers in abundance. my boyfriend and i hired bikes and spent an enjoyable hour cycling around here on a sunny monday. it was quiet, being that most people were probably at work, but it was nice feeling like we had the park to ourself - with the occasional dog walker joining us for the afternoon!
