The Chicken Sandwich War

"I saw Bojangles try to join the conversation but get quickly shouted down after posting a photo of a chicken sandwich that many people mocked as looking dry or ashy, a tweet the brand ultimately deleted." - Chris Crowley

Horrible!! I What the heck is this?!?! Biscuit is flat and look burnt. The chicken looks old or over cooked. I did not ask for spicy chicken. What if someone is allergic to spicy food and you just hand them anything. This was my first and last time going to a Bojangles. Figured I would finally give them a try on my way to work. Please stop just giving people anything just because they go thru the drive through and most likely won’t see their food until gone. Never again. I had to throw this mess away. Wasted my money and I am disappointed and mad. Lancaster Texas location.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an excellent experience at Bojangles Store #002074 in Lancaster, Texas. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was fresh, hot, and flavorful ,exactly what you expect when visiting Bojangles. Everything I ordered exceeded expectations, both in taste and quality. What truly made this visit stand out, however, was the outstanding customer service. The cashier, Maddie, went above and beyond to make sure the experience was enjoyable. She greeted us the second we came through the door with a genuine smile and a charming, friendly welcome. Her professionalism and positive attitude set the tone for the entire visit. Maddie’s excellent service made us feel valued as customers and left a lasting impression. It’s rare these days to come across someone who takes customer service so seriously, , but Maddie truly does. She not only represented the store with professionalism, but she also made us very happy and satisfied with our experience. It’s also rare for this area especially in Dallas , I’m From Rockwall Texas so there’s plenty of Respect there I highly recommend this Bojangles location and commend Maddie for her excellent service. I will definitely be returning! Hope she get a promotion, she deserve the management position!!

Worse experience I've ever had at a restaurant, fast food or otherwise. So bad I'm leaving a review. I placed my order through the app at 10:21 am, and it was three items. Pull up to the drive-through, and we were greeted by a robot. Got to the window and gave them my name. Even with me showing up at 10:29, they still told me to park, and they would bring the order out. I noticed they were doing that for every customer. I sat in my car and watched at least 4 people after me receive their orders ahead of me. After all the spots were filled and 35 minutes later, I drove to the front and walked in to get my order, and somehow it still wasn't ready. I received my order at 11:10. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION. I MIGHT NOT EVEN BUY THEIR PRODUCT AGAIN

Serenity

Google
Cashier barely acknowledged hearing my order, then as I suspected got it incorrect. The tenders were good, not one of my favs but ok, the dirty rice is an absolute no and the Mac n cheese was also a big no for me. Definitely won't be back.

Google
We stopped to this location on our way to San Antonio and boy did it not disappoint. I was a little skeptical when I didn’t see whole chicken on the menu, but tenders. The tenders were a 10/10. My family ordered the breakfast sandwich and chicken sandwich, and they were good also. Fries and biscuit taste great also. If there was one closer, I’d probably be there every week. Hint, hint we could use one in Forney, TX.

Google
We were so excited to find a Bojangles not too terribly far from us! We loved it in Tennessee! This is so not the Tennessee Bojangles!! So disappointing. We ordered via the website and was there to pick right on time, grabbed our meal box off the to go shelf and was checking the order when a young lady asked me if that was mine? I told her yes and she proceeded to ask me my name. Glad I checked it! No biscuits, no coleslaw and the fries were pitiful! Went to the counter and told her what we were missing and showed her the fries. She asked me to take everything out of the box, I guess so she could see. I also asked her if the max and cheese was regular or baked because it all looked the same. Was told they only make one kind. Then way offer two on the website? We waited and waited because she couldn’t find a family coleslaw. Then she came back and said 3 of the sides were the same so that’s what we got. Finally got biscuits and she moved on to other customers that had come in. Forgetting about our fries. Stupid me never thought to check the tenders. Obviously someone can’t count! Was supposed to be a 20 piece tender, 10 in each box. We got 9 and 8! So disappointing. The sauces they give aren’t even enough for 20 tenders. They gave us 3. Had to purchase the peach honey pepper sauce which by the way is the best!!!! During all this a gentleman came up and refilled the icing container so she could ice our biscuits, 1 which we watched her drop in a bin next to her and then put in our box, and walk off. I am assuming he was the manager who obviously didn’t really care about the customer with issues there. My husband went back in and was told the manager was busy. What a pity and a shame!! Don’t think we will be making that drive again for terrible service!

Google
Great place great customer service, I believe they just opened so it's really clean inside and the place is nice. Now then chicken is just like is in Georgia yum yum and the customer service is right there as well. Really had a great experience here. The lady who was in front Really nice person the meal was hot and all was good. I recommend for breakfast the chicken biscuits combo with bo-rounds yum. The tea is Georgia sweet 😋. Also the blueberries biscuits yum yum. 😋 I hope the place stays like this for years to come definitely make you a trip to this place.

Yelp
First timer. Came to get biscuits for work. Them things are too sweet for biscuits. Blueberry and icing...cmon man that's a cake. But they was good tho. Dirty rice was good. Gone have to learn to make that one day. Liked that honey pepper dipping by sauce. Only thing I didn't like is the lemonade. It wasn't good. But compared to chic-fil-a lemonade, everyone else's is bad. But it's worth a trip at least. Surprised they open 24/7.
google avatar

Chaille K.

Yelp
Actually very impressed how much flavor and juiciness came from the chicken! Their sweet tea is great! I was actually worried it would be too sweet but it's very light. Customer service was great and helpful. Would stop by again if in the area!

Yelp
I was a bit skeptical due to the mix reviews, but I'm glad I tried it for myself and I recommend everyone else to do the same. Luckily when I went the drive-thru lines weren't outrageous, the wait time was short, and my order taker was nice. When I went, I had a tender meal which comes with your choice of sides (mine was fries) and a biscuit with a drink ( I chose their famous sweet tea). To me the tenders, fries and biscuit were all delicious. The tenders were crispy, big, and just so good as well as the fries and biscuit. I usually don't care for biscuits when it comes to fast food restaurants, but theirs is something different. Their famous sweet tea on the other hand, wasn't too special or unique. But if you love sweet tea, then it may be perfect for you. Overall, my experience was great.

Yelp
The staff has such a nasty attitude when they make you wait 30 minutes on your food. Then they forget your fries.
google avatar

Dina R.

Yelp
Food is good but service is horrible. Expect an AI to take your order and they are not good with questions. We paid and told us to wait which is fine. Once we received our order we first noticed there was no gallon of sweet tea so the employee went back in. We searched through our order and realized there were no sauces. So employee had to go back and then we left. Later realizing the cookies we ordered were missing and then once home the fries in the meal was missing. Check your food before you leave because us missing four items is pretty upsetting.

Ariel P.

Yelp
Waited for 30 minutes for two chicken biscuits,I had to go inside and they said they had gave my food to someone else ,wouldn't recommend
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Dirty, side are trash. Chicken strips are on point really good top of class. Side sauces are trash. Do better. Chicken strips are A-game

Yelp
I'm pretty disappointed with whoever runs this location in Lancaster. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile so I stopped in for lunch because I was nearby. It was around 11:30am today (8/18/25). I figured we'd eat inside, but upon reaching the door we realized it was locked. Figured they forgot to unlock that one so I checked the other 2 doors, all locked. The drive thru is running and 2-3 cars aside from mine were in the parking lot. I'm thinking "why is the dine-in closed?" Well we went next door to Taco Cabana instead and while eating watched atleast 10 other people try to open the door as well. We looked this location up and there are numerous complaints online for months about this location claiming they're "short-staffed" and not opening dine-in. Hire more people or close this place down.

Yelp
The way the lines were all the way to Uptown Dallas from Lancaster, is ridiculous. I'm definitely exaggerating, but the lines were pretty steep to the point they had the police out there to direct traffic. Personally never feel like there's no food that good worth sitting 2 hours in line for food. Per usual, it was overly hyped and people simply just want what other people want / have. Just to be able to be apart . My patience wouldn't allow me to sit in line. So I chose to leave, wait until things calmed down. So a little over a month and my kids requested chicken strips so I figured we try it . I wasn't sold but they were good , my kids didn't like them at all and felt like the fries were overly seasoned. Would I eat there again ? Sure , would this be the first thing that came to mind if/when wanting chicken ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! And for me it's because I simply prefer places that has the option of being able to get both chicken strips and chicken that still has the bones in it(thigh, legs, Breast, wings), This particular location only has strips/tenders., Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
Wow, I always wanted to try Bojangles and recently I was able to. Initially I was kind of disappointed in the fact that they don't offer bone in chicken, but I still went ahead and ordered the 5 piece chicken tenders.Way better than Raisin Canes. I found them to be quite moist and well seasoned. Had some of the dips and they were kind of weak. Needs some work there. Tenders were fine without it. Fries were unpeeled but well seasoned. Coleslaw that I ordered as a side was sweet. I prefer the German way which is a vinegar based version. But still it was above the cut. Soda was a regular Mountain Dew. Should of tried their Southern sweet tea. Will do next time because I definitely will be back.

Yelp
Boneless chicken bits that did not taste good. Service is friendly There is no ambiance Insanely expensive for what I got I was very disappointed the one and only time I went to the Lancaster location

Yelp
I finally tried this place out and.... It was just... ok. Not terrible. Not great. Let me begin by saying that the line for this place was wrapped around the building, past the taco cabana building, and then overflowing into the service road. So I was expecting DELICIOUS, because why would the line be so long for food that was anything short of 5 stars...? There was a lady standing in the parking lot controlling traffic flow. I waited in line 20 minutes before I even got to her. Once I got to her she told me that it would be faster if I parked and ordered inside because the drive through line is slower than dine in service. I took her advice and went inside... but... it was NOT faster. Once I ordered I waited another 30 minutes for my meal because they kept running out of chicken. Overall I was there just under an hour for an 8 piece chicken strip family meal. Food - Chicken has a little spice on it. Everyone liked it except my toddler; which is understandable. The sides were great! We ordered fries and macaroni and cheese. Kids loved that. FYI- don't expect the food shown online to be available in store. This location serves chicken strips ONLY, no bone in chicken. I was a little disappointed about that.

Bethany G.

Yelp
The lady that gave me the food looked nasty. Her face was crusty and her lips had food on them. She looked like she snuck in the back and ate the biscuits. I am 15 years old and could care less about writing reviews but this was just so bad that I had to. She forgot the straw and my sauce. My mom said that the food was seasoned so I thought that I would be pleased with what I was going to receive. I was not pleased. My grandmother makes better chicken than this. It is safe to say that this will be my first AND LAST time buying from bojangles

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Wanted to give them another chance but it was disappointing, especially for the price. We probably should have checked the order before we left, but didn't. We didn't get the extra gravy we ordered and paid for. We didn't get the dipping sauce we wanted and the other was just completely missing. Our unopened 1/2 gallon of tea was about 8 ounces too short. We also got heart shaped blueberry muffins instead of regular biscuits for some reason. The attendant was automated and it just didn't go well. Please bring back regular people to take orders!!

Sherry R.

Yelp
Could not wait to try their sausage biscuit I had seen on TV ads. OMG it was dreadful! The biscuits were either fried or reheated in the microwave, as was the dried out, tasteless sausage. Both tasted as though they had been fried at some point in old chicken grease. In addition, I asked for strawberry jelly, got home it was grape. Bad bad breakfast experience. McDonald's has them beat hands down!! BEDFORD TEXAS location
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
1 star for the surprise find 2 stars for the food- it was fresh and hot and tasted better than that Atlanta chicken that comes free with a side of prejudice 1/2 star for the service even though it was friendly!
google avatar

Clifton G.

Yelp
I don't usually eat chicken tenders, but these tenders and those sauces were delicious!!

David W.

Yelp
Just OK. Didn't realize before going here that they didn't have bone-in chicken. Website said that they did but not in Texas. Had the tenders and was about as good as any other tenders you may get anywhere else. Didn't blow me away. Mac and Cheese were subpar. Fries lacked some flavor but wasn't horrible. And the biscuits were pretty good. All in all? Not a disappointment given I didn't have high expectations as a first timer. But won't knock your socks off either.
google avatar

Lili S.

Yelp
I ordered the 3 piece with potatoes. The food was delicious and hot. Will definitely visit again when I am in Lorena.
google avatar

Sherrelyn M.

Yelp
Texas Bojangles does not carry bone in fried chicken like the locations in the Eastern Us, But the chicken was Hot Fresh and flavorful..
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
The chicken tenders are really good. Fried well without being greasy. The side items are not good and they don't have great dipping sauces. And no gravy is offered outside of the breakfast menu.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
I'm gonna balance this review with the preface that I've already written a less than stellar review. No no, not here. Politely written on the Bojangles Corporate Headquarters Yelp page. The "Texas" menu sucks folks. Lancaster, Texas is where my dining adventure began. I'd left the Hill Country at 7am and already made the turnaround (Richardson). I intentionally skip every restaurant in Dallas for this North Carolina love I can't have. Well, I can but that's 3,000 miles on my car. I'm in line now and I can't find the pimento cheese. Did I gloss over them coming to Texas with this limited menu? Nice lady behind me tells her husband they don't have his favorite. OMG, the most chain suits I've seen in a kitchen since a grand opening. I've now poured my drink and reluctantly ordered. Tenders were fine; Spent extra money on sauce cups. Bumpkin? Went back to the counter for some what normally would not be so expensive $2.09 sausage gravy. I'm drowning in the misery that the CEO has totally ruined the Bojangles I love. Hey, here come the suits! I tried to stop a couple of them and express my concern. It was like talking to drywall; all retreating into a booth and opening a laptop without even listening. Imagine the first 5,000 cashiers you hire for this region. Times that by every Texas store you build. Can y'all handle that letdown? Did your CEO say he wanted to be out of the Chicken business? Is that boned, boneless? Git a rope. Stars are appropriate.

Yelp
I went and the drive thru was blocked off. I called and they said they would open at 5:30pm. I don't know what caused the closing so I left,

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Not as good as the ones I had in Georgia. It's a bummer that they don't operate the same as the ones in other states always have breakfast and the gravy for the biscuits. Restaurant is pretty clean still as it's fairly new. Service is always quick.

Tyler S.

Yelp
The food was absolutely incredible. Nothing bad about this restaurant. But sometimes the service is a little slow. And the building could use some cleaning, but the food makes up for everything, it is incredible. I got the chicken sandwich. One of my favorite foods I have eaten. Five star easy.
google avatar

Rhonda S.

Yelp
I am a native Texan that grew up here in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area. We have lots of good food around, but it is rare to find a biscuit so perfectly baked as those at Bojangles...crisp on top and bottom with wonderfully light and fluffy in-between! If I had added a pat of butter, if would have been completely over the top! Some north and South Carolina reviewers seem angry that the menu is smaller, but for us new to Bojangles, there is nothing about which to complain! The tenders are generously sized, moist, marvelously seasoned and encased in crunchy batter. Dip that little Darlin' in the honey mustard dipping sauce and you have one belly satisfying bite! There are multiple options for sides to enjoy with your combo. I got the fries and I did find them to be a bit too salty and that is coming from a salt fiend! The staff looks happy to be at work and is very friendly. The store is clean and smiles abound! Why not? My hubby and I shared the 4 tender combo and were both completely sated! We split the biscuit but I won't make that mistake again.
google avatar

Robbie D.

Yelp
No wait, i guess the newness has died down. Ordered my food and did not have a long wait before my food was ready. I got the 12piece family meal with coleslaw & dirty rice 2 extra bo biscuits. I loved it my food was good. Tenders where not fried to hard they where just right.
google avatar

Tonya S.

Yelp
Absolutely delish ! those biscuits, oh my im not even a biscuit person and those were excellent!
google avatar

D. Scott C.

Yelp
Finally got to eat at a Bo that's not in an airport, only to get strips ( I can get that at Raising Canes), not bone in pieces. I guess the staff is new because the tables were dirty...along with the restrooms and they were struggling to keep up with the drive thru. The 1 guy taking orders (at lunchtime) was friendly but really slow. I got the chicken sammie, which was good. Co-worker liked his 3 piece, but again...no bone-in fried bird. This location really needs to get in sync (not the band), or the paying public will dine elsewhere.
google avatar

Vida B.

Yelp
Save your time and Money! There are plenty of fried chciken Tender selling restaurants in our area. Even in the biscuit department. If you want a free Hockey puck go for it. The Tenders are not fresh. Macaroni is over done, just go to Chcik Fila. The Tea they advertise is like whatever. Bo Jangles! Come get your chicken or please come with New Management or Retraining. Go inside and you will see all the chicken fingers just laying out on wait. I mean come on, Macarooni is a Golden and they are fudging it up. I know they can do Better! Checked this off the list.
google avatar

Travis R.

Yelp
Save your time. Worst chicken tenders I have ever had. Taste just like Tyson's chicken nuggets you buy frozen. Huge let down. I waited like 35. minutes in line to get under basic food. Honestly the best part of the meal was the biscuits. I don't understand why the line was so long. If you like thick soggy batter chicken tenders, then this is your place. I will never go back. If I could I would give it zero stars, but it wouldn't let me. Complete waste of $73. I would have regather eaten a bologna sandwich
google avatar

Priscelene A.

Yelp
We got the tenders combo with dirty rice and bo berry biscuit. The tenders were okay, dirty rice was bland, biscuits were good. Overly priced and not very impressed by the food. If I went back, it would only be for the biscuits and they actually had good tea that didn't taste watered down.
google avatar

Bay M.

Yelp
Definitely one of the worst experiences I done had at a chicken spot. There tenders where horrible with a taste like they whee fried in old grease. The dirty rice was dry and very bland and it's crazy not to have gravy with tenders. Definitely won't be back
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
Fast service and good food. Management is doing a good job and very attentive. Eric took care of an issue and was the very best!
google avatar

Jeri B.

Yelp
Only Tenders... I like the chicken... no sausage gravy... very disappointed. I may update if they start serving chicken.

T M.

Yelp
I stopped at Bojangles this morning to order a combo, like I have done on a couple of occasions, just to be told that I cannot substitute items on my order. I asked if this something that just started because I've done it before. The manager starts raising her voice and was very rude!! If this was the new rule, I have no problem with that, but to just start getting hostile becasue I asked a question is unacceptable. Bojangles please do better with your customer service!!!

Kizmet W.

Yelp
all of there food is extermely salty worst fried chicken i have had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tshaunda D.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The chicken strips had a great taste. Great spices and crispy. Food was fresh and delicious. Fantastic customer service.

Karen H.

Yelp
I was there for lunch yesterday. The staff were friendly with a smile. my order was out quick and the tables and floors were clean for it to be lunchtime. I like the way that it ran inside. The parking lot was very accessible. Good strips. I especially love the Peach dipping sauce! Go visit them...the biscuits were fluffy too. I can't forget the biscuits.

Kisha A.

Yelp
The chicken was hot and fresh. It was just enough spice and flavoring. Thanks for the great service.

Kiva S.

Yelp
The food was hot and it tasted great. The biscuits were amazing and I really enjoyed the rice

Vyisha T.

Yelp
Bojangles provided dinner at my campus the night of our parent conferences. The food was fresh and hot for us! They made sure to include everything we needed from plates and silverware to the dipping sauces!

Steven J.

Yelp
Glorified Raising Canes. They're only selling chicken tenders. No bone-in chicken are being sold with new franchises.

Kyle K.

Yelp
Great crispy and flakey chicken tenders. First time for me. Great service, great food, and loved the mac n cheese. Will definitely be coming back.

Nichole L.

Yelp
Not the east coast favorite, I remember. The macaroni's soggy, cheese is mush and the chicken tastes like wood.
