This is the place to stay! The rooms are very clean and have great views at least from our room on the 3rd floor. The staff at the concierge are very helpful! The food is always consistently delicious and generous proportions. The all inclusive is well worth it. The beach and pool are beautiful. The location is great. Far enough from the busy downtown but close enough to go do other experiences on the island. Not walking distance but taxi or rental car will get you other places pretty easy. The gift shop doesn't sell alcohol but has the necessary needs and nice gifts. The air conditioner was super good. And when you close your door at night it's plenty quiet. We were on the third floor and the view was amazing. You do need some patience with the bar and restraunt. They are very busy but always fairly friendly.

We had a fantastic time at Bolongo bay resort! Very relaxing accommodation and everything and everyone was very nice, they gave us a lovely room on the third floor with fabulous views! ||Front desk Linda and Yolanda were both great, very cordial and helpful! ||Managers David, Gavin and also Lynn we amazing- Lynn packed us some needed food for us! They always tried to seat us where we wished ||Jamal and Jameson were always there to help w smile||The servers Albert, Donna, kiana, Triva from Indiana all very nice - they sometime would run out of dessert but David or Albert would find something sweet to end our nights - our compliments to the chef which we didn’t get to sadly meet! Muffin baskets, biscuits, bang bang shrimp and the wings were great! ||Rocky, 007 and Tim all made lovely drinks, BBC was hands down my favorite ||The bands and karaoke was all fun ||John was nice at the beach as well as Felicia we had a nice sip and paint and tie-dye session||At the end we forgot my belt bag and Enecia from front desk called me and she and Linda arranged for Mr Mulley taxi driver and kindly he brought it to airport for me!! Much appreciated. ||I’m sorry if i forgot someone! Thank you Bolongo bay resort team for making my 50th birthday celebration a success, we hope to return to your beautiful island! I regret I didn’t get to see owners Richard and Mike but hopefully next time! Take care and happy new year everyone! ||Sadaf khorasani/tempestilli 12/26-12/31/24 room 316

Overall good experience... We were there for a wedding and it was beautiful.. The sunset cruise on the Heavenly Days Catamaran after the wedding was the highlight and the boat crew was so friendly and fun I would highly recommend! Rooms are good, housekeeping staff is very friendly... Dining staff is hit or miss...(they seem to get friendlier with money up front) what I would assume is a manager or owner that does the Instagram account is super friendly and cool to talk to! We missed the booze dive due to the wedding but check that out it's pretty cool! Again, Overall I would say we had a good experience

We loved our experience here! The staff is all so friendly and helpful. The booze snorkel and turtle snorkeling were both a blast! Pool size trivia was so much fun. The only downside is the showers are very small. Other than that this place was wonderful! The all inclusive package was well worth it and we love that it's family owned!

Google
Beautiful place to vacation. We paid for an all inclusive trip and we had a great time. Had lobster, steak, fresh fish, and the drinks never stopped. Everyone was very friendly. Would definitely visit again.

Google
The all inclusive is 100% worth it. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and all drinks included. They even include tips as part of the all inclusive although adding a little extra is of course good to do. The food is excellent across the board. The pool is well kept and never very busy. The beachfront rooms are right next to the main pool and bar area. We loved our stay. There isn't a ton to do on the resort itself so we recommend leaving at least once a day to explore the island.

Google
It was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing. The people were very friendly. We had all inclusive…we were supposed to get wine or champagne every day, however we only got 2 bottles. There is no microwave in the room. No bottle water in the room. Fitness room is small, the Peloton bike needed maintenance..the seat and gear didn’t work properly. I reported it to the front desk. We enjoyed our stay.

Google
My best friend booked a 3 night 4 day all inclusive package to celebrate my 60th birthday! We had an awesome time..the food was amazing, drinks were flowing and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience there the best including paint and sip, snorkeling for booze and trivia!! Oh and don't forget to hold an iguana 😏 The staff are genuine in their efforts to interact with the guests and make you feel at home! We will definitely be back...Thank you Nikki, Rocky, 007, Tim, David, Z, and all other staff (can't remember all the names 😊) for your kindness and dedication to making Bolongo Bay Resort a true gem 💎

Yelp
Was this the worst vacation I've ever had? Of course not, we were in St. Thomas right on the beach. However, for the money, there are many other places I would rather go. My review would be 3/5 if more restaurants were on the premises, but you're stuck with Iggy's (taxis are pretty expensive and there really aren't too many places to go on the island that are worth the drive). The food is subpar at best, with the exception of a few items. You have to reserve and wait over an hour for every meal. They served us raw, pink chicken and then did not make us feel heard when we told them about it (very frustrated with one manager) But I'll save that for the restaurant's review. The snorkeling is by far the best thing about Bolongo Bay. I was lucky enough to spot a seat turtle underwater steps from my hotel room and could casually drop by to look for him again whenever I felt like it during the day. However, that means there's some coral and lots of rocks. This is not a smooth, sandy, relaxing beach. You have to be careful and pay attention. On shore, there were a LOT of gnats and sand flies, which made it nearly impossible to just sit by the beach or walk along it. Many, many patrons had red marks all over their ankles. Pool with walk up bar is a huge pro, especially when there's live music, which is often. However, even that got a bit old after a few days. We didn't feel like there was really anything to do after dinner besides go in it, every single day from dinner until bedtime. Relaxing, but we would've liked another option. As mentioned before, the beach was too buggy and you're kind of stuck at the resort. There is a game or activity every day, an hour long or so, and they were GREAT. We LOVED THE STAFF at the hotel, and they put on the activities and helped with snorkeling, etc. Lovely people. But, I've heard that at other resorts, there are a few options each day. We definitely could have used more, even if it was just community board game time or something like that. Lastly, I woke up on our last night to the smell of burning. It freaked me out, but no fire was spotted. It ended up being something electrical behind the wall, which never would have caused danger because it just burned out. However, since it was the middle of the night, no one could take a good look at it, so we changed rooms to sleep. The staff member helped us right away and was extremely nice, so I definitely don't blame him for this, but it would've been nice if the resort had compensated in some way afterward as it was pretty inconvenient.

Yelp
rooms are a step above a motel 6. showers are so small you can't wash your feet and haven't had a good scrub in years. everyone that works there is miserable. the service is so slow (even for carribean time) they act they doing you a favor serving you. especially at the bar. they have no excursions. they say they do and throughout the day they cancel them. they have one resturant and one bar that is open to the public who they seat and serve first. the front of the hotel is a main highway that you hear from your room. the back is a rocky beach that is about 3ft wide and you can barely get in. you have to pay to go outside the resort to see the actual beautiful carribean water. they don't rake the seaweed. just zero attention to detail. most days if you dont get a towel by 7:00 am. you'd have to wait hours for a clean one, but you can see the laundry baskets piled up all over with the dirty ones if you wanted one of those. one positive thing is the food once your actually served is not bad.

Donita S.

Yelp
Great place to stay. Helpful friendly staff. A shout out to Ms. Lynn who went above and beyond to help us get breakfast early so we could make our excursion and to Ms. Giselle who was very helpful. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
I can't say enough about out this place. Never having been to st Tomas, I had noooo idea what to expect. The staff did EVERYTHING to make sure we were catered to. The food is unreal. All of it! From the spinach dip all the way to the steak and drinks. Mouth watering. When our server was tuning around the food and beverage manager made sure we weren't going without and always helping out! He was incredible. Live music every night during dinner was so fun. The excursions we picked were unforgettable. I honestly cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
This place is an absolute shit hole. I got married May 2023. My brother sent my husband and I for our honeymoon. It is all lies!!!! Seaweed all over the beach thar stunk and had bugs everywhere. Switch and bait...paid all inclusive but didn't get it! Dirty, cracks everywhere on the building, stripper pole at front door with a stand for concierge but no one to help carry luggage up 2 flights! Water down drinks at the bar. Ordered lobster it was undercooked and cold! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! For the sorry ass people that said it is wonderful and great have no class so this dumb might be nice to a fool! Oh and the tape on the back of the safe door smdh..the air conditioner sounded like a loud landing plane all night. Shower so small you could not turn around. When I tell u stay the hell away from Bullshit Bay ok!

Joy M.

Yelp
The best all inclusive resort ever!! My girlfriends and I had the best time ever!! Once in a lifetime experience!! Would go back in a heartbeat!! Loved it!!

Yelp
If you are looking for the Ritz this is not your place. It goes beyond that!!! Very attentive employees that will go out of their way to take care of the most obnoxious tourist. Trust me we saw it. 1st The food is amazing!!!! For a resort to make food not feel like a chain is not only impressive but had us coming back for more. Before you come you must realize they have to deal with not having the best items available to them. Talking with the sous chef they have to make do with what they can find on the island(remember they are on an island far way from a Walmart). They are able to make some of the most delicious food from a limited supply. I suggest the grilled Mahi Mahi( I had it every night) 2nd Heavenly Days!! Take a boat tour with their crew. Especially the turtle tour. They got us in the cove before the cruise ship mess showed up. Felt 100% safe in the water. Super friendly and the captain was great sharing her knowledge of sailing and answered any question we had. A huge plus! Open bar after we swam. 3rd THE BARTENDERS!!!!!!!!!! They keep the drinks flowing and of course are your information hub of the island. Tip them well and take care of them!!! Alex is wonderful and 007 will make you forget your troubles real quick. Remember you are island time and the world doesn't revolve around you so don't be impatient while they take care of you. 4th Nicole in the gift shop!!! What a heart on her. I don't think she ever had a bad day. Every time we left we felt blessed to be in her presence. To sum it up: Stay here or don't. But for anyone to have anything other than positive things to say about the Bolongo Resort should just keep their mouth shut and stay somewhere else because you just don't get how life should be lived. Thank you Bolongo for an amazing trip!!! We will see you again next year.

Yelp
We stayed here in early Jan 2022. I've taken some time to write this review to be sure I'm being direct without distain. I'm also rating the hotel and the restaurant separately. This is the sketchiest hotel I've ever stayed in. I actually wanted to leave the first night but we were part of a larger group. They need to invest some serious money into this building. The bathroom was the worst. Black mold in the tile grout, shower head falling off, no exhaust fan, painted sink. The housekeepers are really doing their best (although I don't think they mop the rooms-the bottoms of my feet were black) but there is only so much they can do. We had the all inclusive plan, which really means you can eat/drink free at the restaurant. No snacks. And the sodas are served warm with a cup of ice. You also need reservations and there is like 10 items on the menu, which is the same for both lunch and dinner. Got really tired of that by day 3. The beach is rough rocks and lots of seaweed, but the worst was the sand fleas. I came home with 214 bites! It felt like I had chicken pox for 4 weeks! Again the attendants at the beach were pleasant. Our group had 3 rooms, unfortunately 2 were on the same side of the hotel and 1 was the completely opposite side of the building. I was also concerned that they put us directly above the performance area. I brought this concern to the front desk and was told they were completely booked and could not move us. They also said no one has ever complained about noise in that room. Well let me be the first. At 9:30pm my bed was vibrating from the live music, it was so loud and the bass was BOOMING. I had a small child and was irate. The person that books the boat tours doesn't know anything about the tours. She told us the swimming with turtles included lunch, it did not. So we were hungry at sea for hours! Luckily they had some goldfish to keep my kid happy for a while. Speaking with some locals we learned that St Thomas isn't great in terms of tourism in general. Find something on St John instead.

Yelp
It might not be a 5 star hotel but: This hotel is great for the competing prices! It has a beach and great ocean entrance in the bay so it is calmer. They provide tons of beach toys : water bicycles, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. The rooms are very Caribbean like: open with balconies. I loved it looked out in the little beach they have. There's a bar/restaurant. It's an island, don't expect the greatest quality. Minor is that it's a little away from everything and taxis are expensive on the island. But props for this: I forgot my (expensive Beach Bunny) bikini hang drying on the balcony. I looked for it for 2 weeks and then called the hotel. They still had it and saved it! They mailed it to me at no cost. Doing this is 5 star customer service! I had a sweaty Boston Red Sox shirt stolen from a hotel room by a maid in Vermont, so imagine how grateful I was to hear no maid took this 3 digit bikini and they mailed it!

Kelly T.

Yelp
Anyone who gives this place less than 5 stars needs their head examined. Food was PHENOMENAL! We joked they had Bobby Flay locked up out back. We did our 10th anniversary vow renewal, and Jenny and the staff not only handled everything, but it was stress free for me. The personal attention you get here is amazing. If you are used to the Ritz...don't go here, you'll ruin the island vibe for the rest of us. It was clean, comfortable, friendly and perfect.

Ralph K.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME, Family owned and still operated since 1970, this All-Inclusive resort had it all. The staff is amazing from the front desk to GM Rick and Michael in the water activities center, we will be coming back soon. Thanks to the entire staff for helping make our 40th wedding anniversary an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
Well all I can say is what an amazing place. This was our 4th visit to Bolongo since 2016. We always have a great time. This resort makes you feel like family. It's like you never left. Same people working in the front office, bar, Resturaunt, housekeeping, and of course Keith the on-site resident manger. 007, Alex, Melinda working magic at the bar. We have never had an issue with anything. Kevin is amazing at finding the perfect table for you. FOOD is amazing and many great choices. All inclusive is the way to go. We absolutely love Bolongo. A great family run business and they are around to make sure you are enjoying yourself. Perfect place for a quick trip or extended stay. The views are amazing. The service is always great from EVERYONE. The live music is always great. You must take a sunset cruise and go swim with turtles!!

Yelp
Place was great! We came here for our honeymoon. And had a great peaceful time. Food and drinks were great. Staff was very helpful and polite. Everything was clean, beach, pool and room. Only complaint I have is our shower was not clean before we got into the room upon arrival. Lots of old soap stuck to the shower walls. But other than that, everything was amazing I would stay again for sure

April W.

Yelp
The advertisements do not match the actual resort. The beach smelled of dead fish and the staff seemed upset that we were there. We stayed one of the three nights we paid for and left. The food was good, so that is one positive! The room was relatively clean. Shower is super small and the baseboards look like they had never been cleaned before. Overall disappointing.

J Michael C.

Yelp
What an amazing resort. Everything from the accommodations to the staff, to the food really stood out, making this a wonderfully relaxing experience. We stayed for a week on the all-inclusive option and enjoyed two excursions on the Heavenly Days catamaran. The entire staff made us feel at home, and ensured our stay was special. What a way to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!

Yelp
I just love Bolongo Bay! It is a small and charming resort. Everyone there goes above and beyond to whatever you need. It is one of my fav places to visit. They have snorkeling gear, paddle boards, and kayaks. I have been there twice and just got back and already want to plan another trip there! @janabananaky

Haidyn J.

Yelp
My husband and I came to St. Thomas for our honeymoon and decided to stay at Bolongo Bay. We chose a beachfront room with amazing views. I loved that we were able to walk from our back door straight to the beach. It is a rocky beach, so I would suggest water shoes. We didn't do the all-inclusive package, but we were still able to use all the water equipment. We used the snorkels every day and even ventured out to kayak for the first time. The staff was very kind and helpful in each part of the resort. We went to the gift shop multiple times every day. The restaurant was amazing! It is an older resort and needs some renovations, but it was still beautiful. It was perfect for our needs. We spent our days going to different beaches around the island and visiting St. John. We visited the Mariott while we were on our vacation for a different sailing trip, and it made us realize how happy we were to be at Bolongo Bay! Marriot was very overcrowded and not relaxing. My husband and I enjoyed how quiet and relaxing this resort was and that we did not have any problems while staying. I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
Stayed here for three nights. They moved us three times to different areas of the motel and all rooms were dated and had cockroaches in them. What a dump. Everything needs updating. The A/C was noisy and the shower was super small and absolutely disgusting. I've been traveling for over 30 years and this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. I escalated to the family owners and they failed to provide any discount--just greedy and uncaring. I don't know how these people at the front desk sleep at night knowing this is such a dump for customers.

Nikki D.

Yelp
The rooms are dated and could use a touch up/remodel but everything worked, the AC was heaven, and the room was clean. The biggest draw here for us was the inclusive food and drink. The frozen drinks were delicious and the food was so good. Surprisingly good. Like I'm missing the fritters and spinach artichoke dip right now. Our party loved the dinner lobster and mango jerk ribs. We're still talking about the food. The staff was attentive and friendly and the view was picturesque. If you don't need the most modern room furnishings, this place is for you.

Kelsey D.

Yelp
Booked a trip here with my family for 6 nights, 7 days originally. Religiously looked through reviews and pictures before our trip to know what to expect. Unfortunately, I'm not sure who they are paying to be receiving these great reviews because this place is trash. Although most of the staff is polite, when we arrived the entire "resort" was smaller than the size of a restaurant. There was one pool that could fit a maximum of 6 people and you couldn't drink in the pool after 6 pm? Barely 10 lounge chairs to sit out and tan. Entire pool was super small, not even enough room for my family to sit next to each other in chairs. Pool was dirty, water had a film on the top and mold in creases and entire pool deck. Room was disappointing. Very outdated, moldy showers, showers the size of a cruise ship. Water either super hot or super cold. Not clean, needs to be renovated ASAP for as much as they are charging. We got the "all inclusive package" which we thought was going to be an all inclusive "resort" experience. All inclusive at this place basically meant food and drinks. Same food menu for the entire trip, although the cook and food did a phenomenal job; it was repetitive. Alcohol drinks are delicious but the liquor they use is only 27% so any "top tier" alcohol you have to pay for. And finally, the beach was totally unuseable. The resort declined to inform us that the beach has been covered in thick seaweed covering the entire beach and water making it smell terrible and no one can step foot on the beach. Can't use the kayaks, any of the snorkeling gear, etc. there was nothing to do!!! I will say the staff did try and make accommodations to take us to different beaches without the seaweed but again, the shuttle to different beaches, tips included, ferry rides all came out of pocket which completely takes away the "all inclusive experience" Place needs some serious renovations, and better communication with their guests before paying thousands of dollars to stay at a motel like place that claims to be a "resort" WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET.

Yelp
My cousin stayed here for her destination wedding in St. Thomas. (Disclosure- I stayed down the road at the Watergate Villas but spent 90% of my time with the wedding party at the resort, ate nearly all my meals at Iggy's, etc.) My father had a heart attack and passed away on the way to the wedding. Even though my mother and I weren't staying at Bolongo Bay resort, Lorie and the entire staff treated us with such compassion. I was floored. When we returned back from the hospital to meet the bride after the wedding, Lorie fed us and gave our family a private space to be together at no charge to us. The resort continued to check in on us and make sure we were being taken care of while we spent the rest of our vacation making arrangements to get my dad back to the mainland. Even offering a room should we need to stay on the island longer and the condo we rented not be able to accommodate us. (Also - Lorie took my cousin's marriage license to the courthouse when she found out that the wedding planner my cousin hired wasn't going to do that for them despite offering that as part of her services.) I can't speak to the quality of the rooms, and yes Iggy's service sometimes runs on island time (as many other businesses we experienced do) but the worst times bring out people's true colors. Bolongo Bay resort didn't have to offer anything other than condolences, we weren't guests in the hotel, but they treated us like family. The staff from Iggy's, to the gift shop, to the cab stand, to the owners and management treated us with so much care and compassion. Should I ever return to St. Thomas I will be booking a room here. I will tell all of my friends to book here. You can't fake kindness like what we were shown.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Disappointed the reviews do not match the resort. We had no water for 5 hours on our second night which made us very late to our reservation and miss the sunset. There was no hot water at all.

Yelp
Excellent location, not a 4 star resort but rooms are nice enough. You can tell in its prime it was a very nice hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Very friendly staff and nice bar. Comfortable bed. Refrigerator. Nice patio. Great beach..

Yelp
Omg.com! What can I say about Bolongo Bay!?.. First, the rooms are in need of a resurrection. The bathrooms are old and moldy. The shower can only fit one person in it and there is only enough room to turn in a tight circle. If you needed to shave, you would have to have your leg sitting straight up in the air...propped against the shower wall. The water pressure is so low, that my friends had to fill up the trashcan with water, pour it in the bowl just to flush it. The closet doors were made out of sheets or curtains. I think there were bed bugs...or maybe it was those nasty ass sand fleas. We were ate up like a Christmas dinner turkey. The Do Not Disturb sign over here does not mean anything. My friends next door to us had their sign up for a couple days. The cleaning crew still went inside their room and cleaned it. Today, the latch was torn off the wall by one of the crew. They denied it and said they didn't do it. One part of the beach is a reef. There's sand, rocks and then a big drop off point into the abyss. We went to a few other resorts on this island, i.e...The Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton and they totally put this place to shame. I see why they're 5 stars and the Bolongo isn't! I guess you get what you pay for!

Yelp
The best vacation I've had in years. We did the all inclusive, ate and drink all day and night. Staff was so friendly, please visit 007 at the bar and order a chocolate coved strawberry. I will be back!!!

Yelp
The view is amazing, did I mention the view ? The breakfast was ok. I had eggs Benedict and my friend had banana pancakes. Coffee was hot and fresh. The service was straight forward and no nonsense. Not lots of smiling. If you're going to eat, why not do it by the water?

BJ E.

Yelp
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon over the summer, having never been to the Virgin Islands before. Really it was the offer of an all-inclusive plan that solidified our decision and we couldn't be happier that we chose Bolongo. This has got be the best value stay in St. Thomas. The bay is private, warm, safe, and full of all sorts of marine life. We saw sea turtles all but one day while we were swimming around in the bay, less than 20ft from the shore. Water shoes are definitely a good idea, the first few feet from shore are a bit rocky, but that's really the only downside to the water there. The day we showed up there was something going on where they hide bottles of rum around the water in the bay, if you find it you keep it. Not a bad way to start things off. The all-inclusive plan truly is just that, no catch. I would easily estimate that we saved $1000+ by going with the all-inclusive plan over the course of our stay. The food at Iggy's and Lobster Grille are both good, and there's quite a bit of variety. The staff here is what truly made it a 5 star experience though. It doesn't matter if it's a front desk employee, bartender or maintenance guy; every last employee acted like our satisfaction and experience was the only thing that mattered in the word. The entire staff will treat you like you're family, the owners even have a weekly party where they come meet all the guests. Sure, we could cough up another couple thousand dollars and stay at the Ritz Carlton in the room alone, and another few thousand for food and drinks and a get the 5 star accommodation (actually no, I can't afford that). For my money though, I'd rather experience the island and get a 5 star experience, service and atmosphere at Bolongo.

Ariel J.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Bolongo for a belated honeymoon. This was a last-minute Plan B trip as initially we were scheduled to stay at an all-inclusive in The Bahamas...but COVID changed those plans. Bolongo is a great getaway so long as you're okay with no-frills lodging. While the all-inclusive is as advertised, I wouldn't consider Bolongo to be luxurious or romantic. Overall, we had a great time and were able to unwind but we probably could have gotten more value for our dollar if we stayed elsewhere. Also, important to note...we paid extra for the Island Bliss Honeymoon package, and for the most part, it was worth the money except for the "His and Hers" items. There was a lot of confusion with the front desk and the gift shop about what exactly is considered to be the "His and Hers t-shirts." Also, I was excited to bring home the "His and Hers champagne flutes" but much to my disappointment they ended up being plastic Dollar Store flutes with nothing written or inscribed on them. Lastly, we paid extra for an ocean view, however, most of the property faces the water so odds are good you'll have an ocean view. If you're trying to save money, I'd take your chances. Also, since there is no room service, we never enjoyed breakfast or had coffee in bed or on the balcony because one of us would have had to walk to the resort restaurant to pick up the food and mimosas. You can only carry so much. Pros: * Safe Deposit Box in room * Free Water Equipment Rentals (Nate and Jonathan are awesome) * Gift Shop on Site (Ask for Terrific Tammy Thompson) * Swim-up Bar with Strong and Delicious Drinks (Bartender Melinda goes above and beyond) * Heavenly Days catamaran excursions: Sunset Cruise and Swimming with Turtles (Crew mate DeAnna is one of the coolest people I've ever met) * Live music several nights a week (6-9 p.m.) Cons: * Outdated lodging (Bathroom toilet didn't flush, and the shower is tiny) * No airport shuttle, room service or secure guest Wi-Fi * Resort location is isolated from everything so the only way to explore the rest of the island is to pay for taxis (A daily no-cost shuttle for guests to Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie would go a long way) * Beach is tiny and rocky with lots of seaweed (Water shoes are a must) * Food was decent but by Day 4-5 I grew tired of the same menu; Would love to see more specials added for lunch & dinner (Some menu ideas are grilled cheese, nachos, pizza, etc.); Coffee was not great * Customer Service at Front Desk and in the restaurant was hit or miss

Yelp
I think Bolongo is probably an honest 3 star hotel. I gave it 4 because I was there 20 years ago and when I got off the cab , it looked exactly the same. The rooms are probably a 2 , they are dated, like any beach motel. The pool looks better and better if you drink many rum punches! It not great, but the bay is nice, warm and safe. BRING WATER SHOES! There's about 4 feet of assorted sized rocks you have to cross before you can swim in a warm ocean. We did the all inclusive plan, THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GO HERE OR YOU'LL GO BROKE! The food is good, not great. Now the most important part, the staff is A+, they treat you like family! I've never stayed anywhere that is so welcoming! The ladies at the lobster grill are the sweetest, kindest group of servers, bar none! The bartenders are just ok. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again, maybe every 20 years for nostalgic reasons. I sure wish the owners would take care of the property the way the staff takes care of the guests.

Yelp
So my fiancé and I spent 4 nights hear on a budget and it was 100% worth it with the all inclusive deal. After having multiple people tell us how terrible all inclusive can be, set menus, watered down drinks, crappy service, ect, we were alittle worried. However, upon arrival Daniella was super helpful at the front desk, we were served rum punch by Sam from the taxi stand, got checked in almost 3 hours early with absolutely no issue. From there we unpacked and headed to Iggies for lunch, all the servers and bartenders throughout the trip were very help explaining the all inclusive and what you can get, which is pretty much anything besides Johnny Walker and other top self liquors, but if you ask the bartenders they will hook you up with the best liquors that are included. For lunch and dinner you get an appetizer, soup or salad, and entree from their full menu, no limits except if you want the bigger lobster you pay the difference, dinner includes dessert. A 15% tip is included and you are not expected to tip more, but we tiped the difference to make it 20% for most checks because the service was excellent. Lobster grill is easily 4 star quality food. Yes there are sand fleas- my suggestion is when you apply your sunscreen in the morning apply some bug spray aswell We were fine all day. Water shoes are a good idea, it is rocky, but if you would like you can take a short cab to many other beaches which are beautiful. Go on one of their cruises! Their catamaran is pretty great, the crew was awesome and they have a full bar on board all you can drink. We did swimming with sea turtles snorkeled the island right off their beach saw tons of sea turtles, fish, coral reef, and a ship wreck. Costs extra, but only $75 a person nd was well worth it. Cab rides to basically every part of the island are about $10-15. All around we had an amazing time. Saw multiple weddings during our stay and they all looked beautiful. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a carribean vacation that doesn't require a passport and is nice on your wallet. Also harry at the pool bar is the man, tip him well.

Yelp
I will say: it looks pretty beautiful at sunset/night, the food is pretty good, and Iggie's beach bar has great atmosphere. I came here for my friend's wedding, and it was beautiful but there were so many things that were just not ok about this resort. 1) SAND. FLEAS.: Oh my god, I have never been bitten so many times in my life. The MOH, mother of the bride, and myself got mauled. I now have lasting memories in the forms of scars all over my legs and arms. This is the only place on the island I have heard has this problem. If you aren't wearing DEET, say goodbye to your skin. I had an allergic reaction and my feet swelled up like balloons for 3-4 days. 2) The beach: it is crowded and very unclean. You're allowed to bring glass containers onto the beach which is a terrible idea. I had a piece of glass lodged into the bottom of my foot during the wedding from walking across the beach. On my first day there, I smacked my foot on a piece of coral and nearly broke my toenail. I had hoped they would groom the beach before the wedding, but no such luck. We were led BAREFOOT across gravel to the ceremony site where we stood on rocky sand for the duration of the ceremony. Terrible planning. 3) Wedding planner: She was sweet but where the hell was she the day of the wedding? We sat in the "bridal suite" by ourselves for most of the day with no idea what was going on. We had to call the lobby to find her. I ended up steaming all our dresses myself as she was no where to be found. I know you guys are on island time, but give me a goddamn break. 4) Rooms: I refused to stay here because the rooms were old, smelly, and seemed very unclean. It had such a "public bathroom" vibe.. so gross. For the money we could have spent on Bolongo, we spent the same amount with our flight included in a Jetblue getaway at the Ritz Carlton. Seriously.. save your money, folks. The rooms smelled like mold, including the lobby. Bathrooms were foul. Ugh. UGHHHHH. 5) Bridal suite: This room at least had a new air conditioner which was nice since we were trying to keep our makeup from melting, but there were weird artifacts from other couples that got married there all over the room. There was even a blown glass dish for a couple from 2009 in the bathroom.. looks like it was left behind and now it's part of the decor? Weird choice, Bolongo. There were baskets with lotions and stuff in the bathroom but they looked used and old. The shower had random flip flops in it for no reason. Room was dirty. When I tried to steam the bride's gown, it kept picking up random hair and crap from the floor. No, it wasn't our hair. I had to pick it out of the lace of the dress. 6) Foot baths everywhere: Ok, Bolongo. Here's the thing: I know you're trying to keep your pool clean and offering people a way to rinse their feet is thoughtful. However, I made the mistake of using one and it was filled with scum at the bottom. You know what pools of stagnant water are? Breeding grounds for mosquitos and there are many mosquito-spread diseases in the Caribbean. Get rid of the damn rinse trays and just stick with an outdoor shower/sprayer. While you're at it, you should spray your location for pests to keep your guests safe like the other resorts have done. Listen, I really tried not to hate on this place but I really couldn't help it. I would NEVER spend my money here. Come to visit the beach bar or the restaurant. Wear ALLLLLL the DEET and then leave.

Yelp
Bolongo Bay was everything we expected it to be and we truly enjoyed our stay! After reading many reviews before booking, I knew this wasn't going to be a newly renovated resort and was more so looking forward to the character, secluded beach, relaxing environment and friendly staff - we weren't disappointed. There were so many positives about our stay and I would say the overall atmosphere made our vacation. While visiting other areas on the island we found ourselves wanting to go back to relax at Bolongo Bay! Our room had a beautiful view, didn't love that we had two queen beds instead of one king but it was worth it for the view. Other somewhat negatives - the shower is super tiny so for my 6'2" very muscular husband had a hard time in there (lol). The resort overall is dated but it's clean! I was happy we didn't do all inclusive because there are so many amazing places to see and restaurants to eat at on the island but Iggie's Oasis has delicious food - Mango Banana Nut bread for breakfast, Fish Tacos for lunch, Jerk chicken for dinner and all of the frozen drinks were delicious with BBC being our favorite. The island kitties that live on the resort are so sweet and as cat lovers we enjoyed their company very much. Make sure you bring water shoes if you want to go into the ocean at the resort because it's a natural beach that has a lot of rocks and shells. Don't leave without taking a walk to the left side peninsula at Bolongo where you can climb between the rocks to see an absolutely gorgeous view of the ocean - it's majestic! We have stayed at the most gorgeous 5 star resorts and have eaten at the most highly rated restaurants and while that wasn't what this vacation was, it was absolutely perfect, relaxing and we will be going back!

Yelp
We spent 1 night at Bolongo after departing 8 days on a Chartered Catamaran. Usually we do stay at the Marriott but it's closed after Irma. I went into this with an open mind. However, it was quickly clear it was going to be a struggle. 1/ We paid for an upgraded ocean front room. We waited at the bar for 2 hours until the room was "ready". We then went to the room and an employee was in it working on the phone and cable lines. An hour later they moved us to a new room far less than what we paid for and acted as if they did us a favor. 2/ I was eaten alive by some type of bugs either at their bar or the room. I never set foot on their beach because it's inaccessible due to seaweed. 3/ at 2am the couple in the room next to us began to argue. Loudly. Until 5 am...every name in the book called to one another. My husband was concerned he should go and knock before it became violent. I attempted to call the front desk and our phone didn't work. So long story don't book this place based on photos or price because it is very expensive for what you get. It is very very dated and worn out and I'm fairly certain it was 80% like that prior to Irma. Thankfully we are blessed to travel to the BVI yearly and St Thomas is a quick stop point for us. I'm only writing this to warn people of the expectation.

Yelp
I stopped by for dinner and drinks during carnival season. The bartender was wonderful and the food was yummy! Very laid back vibe. You can enjoy your drinks at the bar, by the pool or on couches that are set up overlooking the beach. Very nice choice for a laid back evening!

Yelp
I had my wedding at Bolongo Bay at the end of March and I had a great time, as did our 30 guests. We thought the hotel was very nicely located, though I agree with the other reviewers saying some things could be updated. The rooms were clean and the beds were nice. Maybe a few of the bathroom fixtures were a bit dated, but overall I really liked my room and the fact that I could walk right out my door and onto the beach was fantastic. We loved the all inclusive. The drinks were great and the pool bar was a great place to spend the afternoon. Dinners were delicious. Partying at Iggies was a blast. As for the wedding, the coordinators did an absolutely stellar job of putting everything together. Seriously, they made my day so stress free. The location for the ceremony was beautiful and the weather was perfect. After the ceremony we did a sunset cruise on the Heavenly Days which everyone really enjoyed and then we had our reception in a tent on the beach. The food was great. We brought our own DJ and they had all the equipment he needed to provide good music for dining and dancing. The only downsides were that the resort could potentially use some updating in certain places. Also this is definitely not a 5 star super exclusive resort so it will feel a bit more homey. If that's what you're looking for, this is the place! PS- Bring long pants/skirts for the evening when the bugs come out (we all got bites, some more than others). All the bars also have bug spray. Also, bring water shoes for swimming in the ocean. There are patches of sand and patches of rocks/seaweed.

Yelp
My wife and I just spent a week at Bolongo Bay beach resort; we had a great time, snorkeling, sunning, swimming, snorkel rum hunt, sunset sail on the Heavenly Days, shopping in town, Carnival and musicians at Iggies, scuba diving, swimming with the sea turtles, good food, and tasty beverages. We choose the all-inclusive package and felt it was a great value and kept us focused on tasty beverages, food and fun and not on the daily bill. While the facilities need a face lift the staff and beach/sun/sand/surf atmosphere was wonderful. For a casual beach front experience we highly recommend Bolongo Bay beach resort, we plan to vacation there again; if you are a five star resort snob don't go!

Yelp
Food is excellent, staff are atrocious! Very ignorant and disrespectful to guests. Only 1 small pool with a tiny bar and limited drinks, didn't have a lot of things we asked for. Pool bar is the only bar and it closes very early, noise complaints shouldn't be allowed at a bar!!!! Which my family got almost every night.

Yelp
UGH... I'll try to be kind... We attend a wedding in beautiful St. Thomas at Bolongo Bay. The ceremony was early Saturday morning, thankfully with beautiful warm weather. It was held right on the beach right in front of Iggy's. The reception was actually on a skip, the same one used to take you Swimming with the Sea Turtles at $65 a pop, thank you Bride & Groom for a wonderful reception. Aside from their wedding services, the resort itself was ok. At $200/n on the "European Plan" (the non inclusive plan), in their "Value Room" (which they told me had old 70's furniture and no view-see below for more on this), on the "Wedding Discount" (which was the same as their on going promotion and there was no discount stacking) and during their "low season" (June...aka hurricane season)...I felt a bit conned, no RAPED was more like it. Did I mention their free sand fleas? YES, fleas!!! Once you step onto the beach....bite, bite, bite! And it's only in Bolongo! The other resort we went to, Sapphire had no such thing. Minus 2 stars for that. For how much they charge a night, you'd figure they can afford exterminators for that. Such a discomfort for all of us who attended the wedding...but we left with lasting memories with the scars. Well, I can't complain about their service because it was great...but their Value Room didn't feel like I walked into the 70's, in fact, our room was exactly like the "Ocean View" room minus the view! In fact, our room was on the quieter side of the resort because you couldn't hear the music from Iggy's at night whilst the more overly priced "Ocean View" rooms were right across from there. The showers felt like they were appox 9 sq feet, with complimentary soap, shampoo & conditioner on a wall dispenser. Imagine a 6 footer maneuvering in that! I generally felt raped by all the misleading advertisements by the resort, I'm glad I didn't fall prey to the whole, older room=discomfort routine they pulled. I sincerely wish the staff would quit advertising the "Value Rooms" as a dump with 70's furniture...and trying to sell me for the pricier rooms that were "recently renovated".

Yelp
First: Yes I will be returning!!!!!!!! If I was to base this review on experience alone, it would be a 5. However in fairness I did subtract a star for hotel room which was average. The rooms are cleaned daily, unless you specified otherwise, and does include both a fridge and microwave. Now lets talk about the five star experience: BRIDES- I'm talking to you. I got married here in December. Before my arrival me and Lorie discussed everything about the type of wedding I wanted. Upon my arrival other than meeting and greeting, then picking-up the marriage licence there was nothing I needed to do but RELAX. My wedding was perfect, and I couldn't have done it anywhere better. Secondly during our entire stay, we were greeted like celebrities by staff and visitors as the couple who just got married. I t felt awesome being recognized each day, as strangers said their congratulations, some evening offering words of wisdom. Next the VIEWS, RESTAURANTS, and ACTIVITIES. We had an beach front view-upgraded for free by Bolongo, and each day I couldn't wait to open those curtains. The beach, the water, the plants and flowers all made it feel as if in you were in paradise. The restaurants, both were very good, and Iggies dare I say was excellent. Any negative review concerning their food has to be a lie! We stayed in room 160, beach front, which is close to Iggies, however steps from Lobster Grille as well. Yes you could hear the noise from Iggies as some reviews have pointed out-but the noise they are referring to is music from a live band and it ends at 11pm. Hello its vacation people, and the bands are good. Oh and Wed Carnival night was a great treat, do yourself a favor and watch this show. I've traveled to many places, been to many islands and usually leave feeling like a tourist. Bolongo Bay gives you the privacy of an exclusive resort, with an experience of feeling like your a local on vacation. Although there are other places I want to travel on my list, Bolongo Bay is a for sure return visit!!!

Yelp
Very convenient location with a very chilled vibe. There is a restaurant (four stars, great service, slightly above average food), a swimming pool, and a sit down or swim up bar. Easy access to Iggies next door or Mims a short way down the beach. Sea urchins make swimming in some areas more difficult. The best part, though, is the afternoon (leaves at 12:30, stays out for 3 hours) cruise on the resort's catamaran -- wonderful. The captain and crew are great. You go about 30 minutes out to Turtle Bay off of Trunk Island. We saw turtles, barricuda, and lots of colorful fish. We then went to the other side of the island and explored a ship wreck (a WW2 era freighter in three large pieces). It's $75 per adult but it was a great experience.

Yelp
We stayed for 4 nights. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The all inclusive option was awesome. My kids loved Iggie's. Beautiful view from our room. The beach at the resort is awesome. The ladies in the gift shop were really helpful with planning activities. We loved our stay there and will definitely return.

Yelp
Great service and awesome time. All of the food is great. Will return on my next trip.

Yelp
Updating: we went with the all inclusive btw. Totally worth the money if you plan on eating every meal at the resort. Which both restaurants have HUGE menus and there is always something different to try. The breakfast can either be buffet or ordering from the menu. 15% tip is automatically included on all bills but I tipped more bc I'm a server and believe great service deserves a great tip. At the end of the trip when you check out you will see your total bill of what you "added on". It wasn't even $150 and that was with getting sunscreen, snacks, and other knick knacks at the gift shop.

Yelp
My best friends got married here February 28th, 2015. It was an amazing experience and I am so happy for them both. We stayed just off resort at Paul and Colleen's rental apartment, but spent a lot of time at Bolongo because of the wedding events. The apartment was clean and inviting. We tried to leave it in the same state as we found it. If you understand the fresh water situation on the island, you know that water is precious to those that live there, and the plumbing has to do some incredible feats to get water to you in those hills, so whiners, grow up! That said, we had no issues with plumbing or water while there, and the air conditioning units and fans would cool the space quickly when we came in at night and turned them on (kept them off during the day when we were out, energy is not free) It was a pleasure to have rooms to walk through and relax in, plus a full kitchen we used to make breakfast. The view of the ocean in the morning, and the view of Iggie's bar at night, made the balcony a nice place to sit and relax. If your idea of a great wedding is having your close family and friends being with you on this important day, and being the only wedding that day, rather than being treated like a number (the Marriott runs 4-5 weddings a day, forget it) this is the right place. You just can't beat the view and the excellent staff at Bolongo! The staff was very helpful, everyone we spoke with had something interesting to tell us about the island, and had knowledgeable answers to our questions (which I'm sure they got asked more than 20 times a day). We ate at both restaurants on site and enjoyed the food. I had done some reading ahead of time so I knew not to expect fast service, and enjoyed chatting and relaxing with my own husband. I found it refreshing. We took cabs (no way we felt comfortable driving our first visit) and the staff were always helpful getting us a reliable cab and we always took that cab's card in case we needed to call for one on the way back.

Yelp
We only stayed here for one night while passing through from staying on Virgin Gorda. We had toyed with the idea of staying elsewhere but chose Bolongo Bay based on price and reviews. We got a really good deal on a value room and the "European" (non inclusive) plan. Upon our arrival at check in we were given a rum punch. Checking in was a little slow and then we had to wait for the bellman to come back and give us a ride to our room in the golf cart even though it wasn't too far from the main area. Oh well. Our room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. It had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and some dishes. I thought that was nice to have. Our room had a door right to the back of the resort and the beach. It was literally steps to the beach. The little deck outside was nice too. The bathroom was small and shower was tiny but it was one night. I did think it odd to have the soap, shampoo and conditioner in dispensers but again, we only stayed one night so this didn't affect us. We had drinks at Iggies. Service was a little slow at first. They had some good fruity drinks and the St John's beers which was great. There were some locals there as well as the resort guests. I liked that. We didn't eat at Iggie's. Drink prices were pretty good though, especially for a resort. The food at Lobster Grille was solid. We had both breakfast and dinner there. For breakfast we suggest ordering from the menu which was way nicer than the buffet. The beach was a little rocky but nice enough. We didn't really go in the water since our stay was so short. We saw a lot of people taking advantage of the free water sports though and wished we could have. The tennis courts were ok but a little run down. We couldn't figure out where to get the equipment. There were several cats on the property. We made friends with one who was super friendly. I like this since I like cats but could see how some might not enjoy it. Overall I'm not sure we'd stay again since it was just ok. I could not imagine staying here a week or more though! It's pretty small. Especially if you are looking just to stay on the resort. Unless you have a car and are going to go exploring, I'd probably stay at a larger resort just to fight boredom. The staff was all VERY friendly and we have no complaint about that!

Yelp
We stayed at Bolongo Bay awhile back, but we had such a great time! The staff were professional, yet personal and made sure that we were always taken care of. I loved the fact that BBR isn't a huge resort and it was in it's own little "bay", to which only hotel guests were in the area. All of the rooms open to the beach, there is a great little pool, hammocks to enjoy, kayak's, and they offer snorkeling trips on the Catamaran - which is an amazing day trip! We did the whole "inclusive" trip and it was well worth it! I can't wait till we are able to head back for a great, relaxing trip. If you are looking for a small, quaint and just relaxing place to enjoy, I would suggest BBR.

Yelp
We love this place and can't wait to come back! I was ready to write a 2 page review but will keep it brief. The bay is quite which makes for perfect conditions to snorkel (equipment offered free at the dive shop). Besides some murkiness and lots of seaweed to one side, we were able to clearly see some fish, coral and even a few turtles! The room was as expected. Clean and simple. It was no 5 star resort with amenities, but you get what you pay for and the room was more than acceptable. We had an ocean view and were not disappointed, I believe all rooms have perfect views here! The food is great. We ate both at the Lobster Grille and Iggies. If you want more laid back then head down the beach to Iggies. Drinks are great as well. We loved all of our servers, everyone was so nice and the bartenders kept us occupied and happy every day (an pretty full and hydrated). The beach is nice with plenty of chairs to choose from, and there are great activity options such as snorkeling and sails on the Heavenly Days. We met with one of the owners during a Manager's Reception for the guests, he was so nice and talked with us for quite a while. The rest of management was great and very attentive when we had requests or questions. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. If we could have afforded it, we would have stayed at the Marriot or some nice fancy place, but I don't think I would have enjoyed myself nearly as much as I did with Bolongo. We really appreciate how much care the entire staff puts in to each guests' experience and they made our honeymoon wonderful. We can't wait to come back! P.S - for all the negative review due to your room not being "perfect" or limited food options, spend more money and go to a Sandals resort. However, enjoy never getting to know the staff. We got to know Harry and Alex real well at the bar and they took care of us the whole week! We stayed the first week of December 2016. Limited crowd and perfect weather.
