People go to Flores for many reasons. the mayan ruins - Tikal. The gorgeous lake - Peten. We did both. For one night we stayed in the jungle near Tikal and then moved to this magnificent property, Bolontiki, to relax on the lake. ||||The service from this Mr & Mrs Smith property was unimaginable. To make a long story short, we screwed up a transfer to the hotel. (It had nothing to do with this hotel. The prior hotel gave us bad information). So we were literally just standing around a busy area with our luggage, having been dropped off in the wrong area by our prior hotel not knowing what to do next. So we sent a message to Bolontiki and they sent a private boat to pick us up to transport to the hotel. ||||Because it was the beginning of slow season we were the only guests there for one night! Talk about personalized service!!! Everything was catered and run around our very whim. The people were so nice. The food was GREAT. The accommodations nice. I got a great massage. Just a primo experience.||||It's in the forest so lovely vegetation, birds and howler monkeys. IT's right on the lake so beautiful small resort. ||||Excellent service.

Everything was amazing and we were spoiled while we were there to the point I was sad when we had to leave. We stayed in one of the lakefront rooms which is a private bungalow. The room was air conditioned. The bathrooms are not. However, the windows opened all the way up if you wanted to feel like you were out in the middle of the jungle. It was very peaceful. There was also a deck facing the lake with chairs to relax in during the morning sunrise or evening sunset. It was just perfect. The food was AMAZING. No matter if it was breakfast or dinner everything was prepared like a 5 star restaurant and tasted wonderful. My favorite was the Avacado Toast for breakfast and then the Fried Whole fish for dinner. The grounds were amazing and there was a lot of space and places to explore. The maintenance crew had their work cut out for them and did and awesome job. There is a trail up the mountain and it is worth the hike to see the view from the top. Lots of critters to see. There are tarantulas and bats to see at night up at the helicopter pads. Birds flying everywhere. Also saw a fox near one of the garden view bungalows that was not occupied at the time. The staff are amazing. There is always somewhere there that speaks very good English if you don't know Spanish. And even those who only spoke Spanish were very friendly to us Americans. They all made our stay amazing and would have loved to stay longer. Hopefully we will get to return in the future as I would love to visit again just to experience the friendliness and peacefulness that we had while there. Thank you again!

The hotel is really nice and feels like being in paradise, to be honest! Their tours with Explorer agency are really really great! Just two things to improve: • Time management at the restaurant: every time we order something, it took at least 45min - 1h, even it was a drink. Plus, most of the time orders didn’t come with all ingredients on the menu, something was missing: bread, tortillas, or cheese. • Cleaning Room service: not my case, but my brother’s case. We spend there 4 nights and in 2 times the cleaning room service didn’t knock the door and just get it meanwhile his wife and he were dressing or taking a shower.

The place is amazing, from the start in the boat, the rooms with its own Nahuatl, the food, the views of the lake, and loved the location, very close to the Flores. |They told us that you can also arrive by car, but you will missed the full experience of arriving by boat, is such a great experience. We took the Tikal tour from there and also we did a Flores town tour, both amazing, Flores is a very cute town, and Tikal is something else.

From the seamless pickup at the airport to the lovely ride across the lake and greeting at the dock with a fruit drink the visit was fabulous. The staff and our room were wonderful. Our room had a lovely view with a lovely balcony over the jungle, a wonderful firm bed, with lots of room and a super rainforest shower and outdoor mush Jacuzzi tub. |The staff were friendly, helpful, the free boat across the lake was fast and frequent enough for a visit to Isla Flores. It was truly a magical visit.

Starting from the good part: the hotel is gorgeous and has a magnificent view. Our room was super well-equipped and clean. Now to the bad: the service in the hotel was subpar at best. I wouldn’t be surprised if I learned they hired everyone the day before my stay, and they were all in training. The list of mistakes is vast, but here are some: 1. I was never given the key to my room, even after insisting on it; I had to leave it unlocked every time I left it. 2. They didn’t give me the WiFi password; it took us a while to finally talk to an employee who would share it with us. 3. They didn’t share the code to call the reception and ask the cart to pick us up; luckily, I read some reviews on Google where people were kind enough to say I should press 0 to arrange a ride or ask for anything. 4. I told them I needed to leave early to catch my flight, but the staff arrived late for work that morning, so I had to carry all my luggage downhill from the second to the last cabin. Even then, I had to wait in the reception area for them to arrive so I could do my checkout. The list goes on with other minor annoyances. Those all sum up to a very frustrating stay. If I could give the owners and managers any advice, it would be to either train your staff much better or lower the prices to make it compatible with the not-so-premium experience you are able to offer.

What a stunning property…..||Located a boat ride away from the Isla Flores the hotel boat was so convenient to get you to the island. ||The food and drinks in the hotel were very nice and the service exceptional nothing was an issue. ||My only issue is there is literally nothing around the hotel at all it is a taxi or boat ride away. ||We stayed in the Villa what a great place spacious the amenities were fantastic (just not great for people who my struggle a little with walking)

Disappointing. The lake view room we booked was unavailable when we checked in so we were down graded to a garden |view room. No compensation or part refund was offered until we demanded it. |Customer service was lacking, which seems to be a common theme in other reviews.9|Breakfast is served late 7:15 and we had tour booked through the hotel at 7am, so a packed breakfast was provided for us to take. It was terrible and not an adequate substitute for breakfast at the hotel. |That aside it is a beautiful hotel, rooms and en-suite bathrooms are very comfortable. |Lake swimming and kayaks were good fun. |And the boat transfer from Flores was seamless and efficient.
