The 32 Best Things to See and Do in Amsterdam (Updated 2025)

"I found this distillery museum to be an underrated Amsterdam attraction: run by the Bols distillery (the oldest distilled spirit brand since 1575), the self-guided interactive tour takes about an hour, engages your senses, and finishes with a cocktail — they also offer cocktail workshops for an extra fee." - Matthew Kepnes

The Bols Cocktail Experience was fantastic! The self-guided audio tour was interesting and a nice warm-up, but the real magic happened during the cocktail workshop. Our instructor, Ricardo, was amazing – funny, engaging, and full of great tips. We learned how to make three different cocktails, and with the one included after the tour, that’s four delicious cocktails in just two hours! It was fun, interactive, and totally worth the money. You leave the place happy, a bit tipsy, and with some new skills. A great experience for couples or friends to enjoy together in Amsterdam.

Great experience. We did the 60 mins exp and it was a slow build at first with the history self guided tour. Then the actual bar tending session was so fun with 3 drinks that you make it yourself with amazing instruction. Then we used our token for a professional made drink and hang by the bar. Can’t beat the price for the entire afternoon filled with fun and friends.

Great place to visit! Lots to see and do. Fun and interesting experience. Shows the history of Bols and there are lots of interactive experiences as you go round. You can smell and guess ingredients, take part in a cocktail shaking competition! The cocktail bar at the end was lovely, a bit small but we managed to get a seat and enjoyed a very good cocktail. Mocktails were also available. Great for adults but not really suitable for children.

It's a great little spot to pop into to experience the history of Bols and get to have a wonderfully crafted cocktail at the end. For the price I thought it was well done experience. And you can purchase cold cocktails to go that you can drink on the street while exploring.

So fun and so worth the money! Our instructor was amazing and explained everything about how to make the drinks, the history behind them, what techniques to use and why we use them. No pressure to drink all the cocktails you make but if you do you will be tipsyyy lol they are strong!

Didn't expect much, but wow. Lots of info, well explained. Example, pick up this cocktail making tool and video shows how to use it and common substitute at home. The cocktail tasting at the end is superb. I tried and liked the very old genever.

A great little history trip at the Bowls Cocktail Experience! This was a recommendation while in Amsterdam and I'm glad we tried it. There was plenty to see while there and the smelling test was interesting! The audio machines were easy to select your language, worked well and were nice and clear. The 'experience' while you try your little bottle of drink was definitely something! Maybe not something to do after you've already had a few drinks! Overall, definitely a recommended visit while in Amsterdam!

My husband and I visited here on our anniversary and participated in a cocktail workshop. Overall, we enjoyed the museum, and the drinks were delicious. The environment was quite lively and crowded. However, the red-haired girl who conducted our workshop had poor English, which made it difficult for us to understand her, the workshop was not like we expected, but we still had fun.
