We recently visited Boma for breakfast and I felt that an updated review was in order. We have only ever been for dinner, but I have been dying to try breakfast. I have heard that it is the best breakfast on Disney property. We went recently for my birthday, and I have to say I was very impressed! I made a reservation for 5, we got there a little early, about 20 minutes before our reservation but the Disney app let me know it was time to check in. After I checked us in, we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. This was my only negative. I did go up and ask and was told they were about 20 minutes behind reservations. They were nice about it and I understand, they cant force people to get up but it was a tad annoying since it was cutting into our day at the park. But I can say, the restaurant was packed! Every single table was taken.
We got a really nice larger table near the buffet line. Our server came by pretty quick for our drink order and since some of our group had never been to Boma, he gave a really nice explanation. This is a buffet, all you can eat, and they have different stations with different items. The first station was the hand carved ham, our server told us right away, if we didn't want that station go around everyone to get to the other stations. The line was very long for the hand carved ham. It was nice because there were lots of openings to go towards the buffet, it wasn't like you were trapped in the line until you go to the end.
The buffet did have the hand carved ham station, along with African pap, stewed tomatoes, roasted tomatoes and asparagus. They also had an oatmeal station with lots of toppings. They had the classic American breakfast area with sausage, eggs, pancakes, Mickey and Simba waffles, bacon, premade omelets and fruit. They also had bowls of avocado, papaya and grapefruit. It was a very nice refreshing item, and I ended up having two bowls of it. They also had premade parfaits and then all the bakery items. The bakery items were the classic; muffins, bagels, toast, pastries and such. The best was the bread pudding with a vanilla sauce and the sticky toffee pecan caramel bun. I don't know if that is the name, but it was delicious and so sweet.
For drinks they give you their POG juice which is passion fruit, orange and grapefruit juice. It is so good. I also ordered a mimosa which had the POG juice in it and my husband ordered an espresso martini. Your meal also includes coffee, soda or tea.
The restaurant itself is very pretty, lots of unique African inspired items all around and nice big windows. This location does not look onto the Safari area as some of the other Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants do but it is a fun atmosphere. It is kind of loud inside, buffets usually tend to be, and it is very crowded. Every table is taken so be prepared for that.
I would definitely recommend coming here. I think I actually prefer dinner, there are more options and more African inspired options, but breakfast is really good. Is it the best breakfast, I'm not sure but it is really high up there. They do have something for everyone as our group all had different preferences and all truly enjoyed our meal. My favorite was definitely the carved ham and bacon. The eggs I am always scared of, they usually are a liquid egg with preservative, it has to be since they make them in such large batches. I only took a very small amount, but they were actually very good, very fluffy and light. I definitely will tell everyone to try this at some point because you will not be disappointed. Breakfast is great and dinner even better!
