We were there for the evening snack. They have a tons of options to choose but some of the items were not available from the menu. The taste is good on the menu items. But the sweets are not that great. They had a lots of sweets inside the glass case and the crowed is not that much. I am not sure when these will be sold and how old are those now. None of the sweets are bad or smelled. But it doesn’t taste right. Again taste is a relative term. The shop Is big with at least 10 tables and 8 were empty. We were able to sit SpartanNash relax for a while. The tables are dirty from the previous shoppers and their food. No one cleaned it after that. It is not a god experience but I am not sure what else to expect though. We will go next time u unless we find a better one.

Google
Sweets have MOLD!! Very old and dry and have mold on it. Be careful so you don’t get sick!!!!! must have been sitting here for weeks or months. Never again risking my health at this place. Make less sweets if you have fewer customers and make them fresh! My boyfriend just called and explained and the owner was extremely rude and made up an excuse instead of apologizing saying it’s because it’s summer time… it’s always warm in LA??? they did not give him a refund and I am sick. My stomach is hurting and I’m nauseous after eating. Never going here for Indian sweets again!!!!

I was initially excited by their snacks menu, which had a strong resemblance to Indian cuisine. However, the experience was disappointing. We ordered pani puri, but the puris tasted as if they were fried in old oil, and the portion of aloo on the side was very minimal. Overall, the food was unhygienic and left us highly dissatisfied.

Google
Bombay Sweets and Snacks is an Indian restaurant in Artesia, CA. Sweets and other Indian vegetarian food are sold here. The food is average, especially the samosas and sweets. But the price is a bit expensive considering both the quality and quantity of the food. Also, the service is not the best, to the point of seeming unfriendly. It seems that many other people had the same experience. I guess they would do better business if they improved the way they interacted with the customers.

We came in around 11:30 and ordered the Chaat special and the Ragra samosa. It took a little bit of time to prepare, but it was well worth the wait. Both were very delicious and filling for a fair price of $10 total. The atmosphere itself is rather nice and very clean in appearance. Because it is a snack shop, you have a wonderful mixture of delicious smells.

Google
Less than ok eating experience. Samosa was stale and cold. Sweets are expensive. Parking is not always available. Improvements needed in the cleanliness department. Sweets are colorful though!

Google
"Sneaky owner, overcharged me for some items and got caught doing it then lied" Dear all, I am sharing a review from three years ago, which highlights a similar pattern of sneaky and cheating behaviour. I ordered four plates, with prices listed between $7 and $9. However, my final invoice totalled almost $50. If each plate had been $9, I would have expected to pay $36. If each plate had been $7, the total would have been $28. You can be the judge. While the food tasted fine and was enjoyable, the pricing process lacked transparency. Proceed with caution if you decide to go. I paid and left. Best regards

Google
Samosas were good but the remaining food was not upto the mark Chile curry was old and gulabjamun tasted very old .

Yelp
You have to know this place is known for chaat and samosas. Stick to those items and you'll have a fantastic experience. As for those of you whining about customer service, they have limited staff. That's something you expect from a sit-down or a place like surati that has 50 people standing around. This is an authentic mama papa shop that's trying its best to serve food as if you were in India without price gouging you. Get the chaat special you won't regret it :)

Yelp
This place was good. My friends are from Pakistan and we were checking out clothing places nearby and found this place. I usually check yelp before going anywhere but I was hungry. I'm glad I did t read the reviews. The food was really good and the staff were nice. I would go again.

Yelp
Tea and snacks were equally bad. Took some sweets for son and he trashed it So yeah never coming back jere

Yelp
with food microwaved right in front of you , what you get is horrible , in everyway imaginable. location is on an expensive Blvd in artesia , so for this place to exist in its current form , smelly and deserted , one might think it's a front to some shady business. Joking of course , I have no idea. But this place sucks.

Yelp
This review is about the sweets and the one man working there. I wish I had checked reviews before giving this place a chance. I don't like giving poor reviews and especially to my Indian peoples but this is too bad to ignore. On top of the fact that I'm now seeing across Yelp and Google, people have had similar reviews for up to 6 years now!! SMH Other reviews seem to like their food, so if you're not good at making sweets - don't bother and just serve food. One of the gentlemen working there was very kind (black apron), smiling, friendly and inviting. I used their bathroom and the sweets looked colorful and good through the window. We felt bad not giving them business since he was kind about me using the facilities and there was only 1 customer in there, seemed not very busy for a Friday early evening. We decided to pick up our sweets on our way out of Artesia, as we had just arrived, so I let him know we'd come back. A few hours later we did and that man wasn't there but another man was with glasses (per other reviews I'm assuming he's the owner) he was not friendly, at all. He wouldn't smile, didn't say much, didn't pay attention to what I was saying as he got our sweet order TOTALLY wrong which I realized after coming home, I asked for 1 or something and he gave 2, I asked for 2 of something he gave one, he didn't confirm how many jalabees and just put a bunch in the box, same with another item I asked to try a few of the little balls and he filled 1/4 of the box with them. He just did what he wanted and charged some arbitrary number. There was no itemized receipt, there wasn't a way to see or verify how much each item was, the box is weighed but each item has it's own pricing per weight (ie: jalabee $7.99/pound, the other one that looked like it says $12.99/pound on the menu on the wall and that's insane it's that much.) It was totally overpriced but the WORST part is THE SWEETS ARE NOT EDIBLE. They were all super hard, lacking any flavor, dried out and clearly extremely old - jalebees, the other similiar looking jalabee, milk sweets - all of them. The gulumb jaman with the cream along the center is completely rotten, tasted like spoiled milk. Had to throw "$30" worth of sweets in the garbage. It's no wonder their place is pretty empty and although I wanted to be supportive by giving them our business, I will never again and I cannot recommend them to others.

Yelp
We come here every time we are in the area. The service and the food is very good. We always get the chola batura.

Yelp
Kulcha Chana ordered, all uncooked raw maida. No taste. Man working on cash Machiene with no smile and not very friendly. Took very very long to serve the ordered food. Very unhappy with service.

Yelp
We ordered masala dosa and It was horrible. Not crispy and the potatoes were not enough. Felt like it was made for kids not adults. Don't eat here ever.

Yelp
Do not go here! They do not care about customer requests and don't listen. Money comes first, not customer service. Food is terrible quality. Not worth the money and the time. More of a headache to order food and receive it WRONG. Ended up coming home and throwing all the food we bought away. Don't waste your time and or money!

Yelp
On a hot Saturday afternoon we chose this place out of many. We were told by the person behind the counter that we had to wait for the order person to come from the back. Turns out he was one of the people actually eating so he came after he was done. As he walked behind the counter he received a phone call and decided to take that before taking our order. We ordered two special chaats without dahi bara and extra chola (spicy) and one cholay puri. The chaat wasn't anything extraordinary and I actually was getting this weird after taste in my mouth. The serving size is smaller than other places around. I am usually super full after eating one chaat at Ambala but here I am left still pretty hungry. The restaurant wasn't very clean. There was trash left on the table we sat on that wasn't cleared. The trash can itself needed to be changed because it was a bit full and the lid was dirty so when you put your trash in there, your hands are bound to get sticky. There are plenty of other options to choose from in Artesia. It would be best if you select some place else.

Yelp
Picked up sweets from this place and they had to go straight to the garbage bin. Gilman Jamun was had gone bad, and smelled spoiled. This place needs a serious health department check. I also noticed that the person wasn't wearing gloves, nor a mask, as he was preparing food to serve.

Yelp
This is is one of the better indian snack places in Artesia. They offer all your favorite snacks like chaat, Dahi puri, pani puri, samosas and more! Best of all, the prices aren't as outrageous as some of the surrounding restaurants. This restaurant has been open for years and the owners are very kind and family oriented. Everything on their menu is a decent price. While they don't have the best sweets on the block, they do have the best prices. We always order the Dahi puri and samosas! They have never disappointed us. Their falooda is huge and they add a lot of rooh afzah and noodles. If you can only choose one drink, try the mango lassi. It's sweet and fresh! Like I said earlier, their sweets are alright, but not too great. They share a small parking lot with a jewelry store and a produce store so the parking situation can be a bit tricky. The restaurant itself isn't very modern but it's very clean.

Yelp
NASTY NASTY. Don't go there. First time there yesterday because I found parking in front of it. No hygiene at the this place the guy was putting food on the plate with their bare hands. I bought some jalebi they used a tong came home & took one bite & the whole 2 pounds went in the trash. Surprise this place is still open

Yelp
Waited a little to be acknowledged. Guy who helped was rude about......well everything. From the quantity we wanted to order, to our choices in desserts. Grabbed a pound of Barfi and split it with the group, not the best. Not THAT bad either. With just a solid/okay eat matched with horrible service, gave it 2 stars.

Yelp
Horrible basi (stale) food and horrible service. My mom and daughter and I went for a quick snack yesterday. We have been going to Bombay Sweets and Snacks for over 20 years. I ordered the bheil puri and mom ordered the pani puri. The food tasted old! When we asked for water cups or spoons we were ignored. They didn't even give us our tea we ordered! We will never go again. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Lexie W.

Yelp
Ordered food and sweets and some snacks from here and it was all very bad . The Kochori sauce was spoiled , sour and only realized after I poured it out on the other food so it was all a waste . I called to let the manager or owner know and he said said I would need to come back to replace the items which I definitely did not want a replacement but he was understanding and tried to resolve .

Mike J.

Yelp
Don't go to this place you will end up in hospital. i got sweets from here and when I was eating it had fungus inside, If you still want to go check each and every sweet before you buy.
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
The person at the counter was extremely rude and gave a very passive aggressive attitude. I'm not sure how this attitude is beneficial to either the customer or the owner; does this consistent condescension boost your ego, sir? The food was decent, but the customer service was sorely lacking. I'd argue that purchasing from this business was a borderline painful experience. I definitely will not recommend this place nor ever return. Indian food is abundant in Los Angeles- no need to put up with the negative attitude at this place.
google avatar

Anu K.

Yelp
I'm not sure if the customer service was worst than the food or vice versa. My family and I walked into a pretty empty place. We went in front of the cashier to order, he totally ignored us. We assumed he was finishing off something so we waited a few minutes. Then rudely he asked "Are you ready to order yet?" As we were telling him our order, he kept making snarky comments. He looked so annoyed he had to work. He should have taken a day off if he was having such a bad day. As if the service wasn't bad enough, we had the milk cake and it was so sour and the yogurt in the chat papri smelt so bad. We didn't enjoy our experience at all. I remember coming here a few years ago and it being decent. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience this time around. We won't be back.

Yelp
Negative customer service. Person at the register is super rude. No manners to attend customers. Zero stars

Fatemah M.

Yelp
The sambar we got was completely rotten as were the dhoklay. When we informed the clerk, we got no apology; "should I refund you or do you want something else" is what he said without batting an eye. It made me feel this was a common occurrence. The weather is quite cold this weekend and there is no excuse for serving your customers rotten food! If you make a mistake, have some good customers service and apologize. I can't believe I actually have to write this out. Ridiculous.

Yelp
I didn't eat a meal here, just picked up some bagged sweets and snacks for my mom for her birthday. I was going to go to Surati Farsan Mart - they have the best chevdo - but it was morning and they weren't open yet, so, scrambling, I went to the next place on Pioneer that looked open. Well, I ended up taking all her birthday presents home - she didn't want to eat them. Not the pistachio barfi or the saffron cashew barfi. Not the chevdo or the other chevdo-like snack with the rice curls and the raisins. You know who else didn't want to eat them? Me. The barfi was dry, almost icing-like, and the flavors tasted fake. There was none of the smooth, halvah-like consistency you should get. The savory snacks were... well, one was too salty to choke down and the other had no flavor. I keep trying to finish them because I got a massive bag - I spent like $20 there total - but every time I try, I end up feeling sick. Sorry Mom - for your birthday next year I'll make sure to wake up late enough to stop somewhere else.

Yelp
Slightly overpriced but delish south asian sweets. Come in and point through the window for tasty sweet treats. Ordered: Gulab Jamun Rosogolla Mini Rosogolla Stuffed Gulab Jamun YUM. Stuffed Gulab jamun was OK but the originals were super tasty! Recommend to desi sweet lovers.

Yelp
This place gets 2 stars for being Meh...and A-OK. Nothing spectacular and the wait? too long!! Yes, the food comes out fresh but you want me to wait 30 mins. when there is only one customer in front of me? Are you kidding? I rather go down the street to another Sweets & Snack store and have my fill. Therefore, it will be a while before i come back for a combo plate from here. Nothing spectacular, but if you don't mind the wait for mediocre food.. then this place is for you. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Their food is all awesome. Here is what I have to order every time (2 people share): - Chaat Special (appetizer) - Paneer Dosa - Faluda Drink or Mango Laasi - Ras Malaai (dessert) Only reason I have it 4 stars is because they might update furniture and appearance of store.

Yelp
Halwa Puri is always on point and fresh. My only go to place for some awesome Halwa Puri and CHAAT!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was poor prepared and tasteless. The place is noticeable dirty has has not been cleaned in a long time. As we sat down, a cloud of flies flew out from under the chair. The clothes on the chair must not have been cleaned in a long time. It had stains from many spills.

Yelp
It's always interesting to me to go somewhere, have a good experience, and later find out that they have terrible Yelp reviews. We had a great lunch at Bombay Sweets. Food was piping hot, was ready fairly quickly, and nobody that we encountered had a bad attitude. Samosas were good, chili pakoras were amazing, the fried potato ball things (sorry, I don't remember what they're called) were also good. Not super impressed with the assortment of barfi we got, but maybe it's just not my thing. Price seemed very reasonable (lunch/snacks for 3 adults, $23), place did not look dirty or unsanitary to me, definitely not the experience that others have related. About the only negative thing I can say is that I wish they didn't use styrofoam. If I had seen the other reviews first, I might not have tried this place, but based on my own experience, I'll go back again.

Yelp
Worst service ever my mother wanted to take gulab jamun guy had the attitude of a toad. Extremely rude and unwelcoming

Sayali S.

Yelp
Worst store in Artesia. I felt this store is not working and all the sruff they have is stale. We ordered Sev Puri and Dahi Puri and both were same as they both had dahi. I dnt know in which part of Bombay they serve sev puri with Dahi. Worst experience

Yelp
I get food here twice a month to take home. It is a family run business and all vegetarian. This place is super popular with a variety of clientele. It is a good place for people watching. The sweets are great (especially the kalakand and berfi) but they have delicious chana masala, saag, and kulchas. Great, I am hungry now that I wrote this review.
google avatar

Ajit K.

Yelp
Neat and clean place. Taste wise just an average. At the same price other stores give tasty and quality food. I have been to here couple of times and tasted sweet, chat and dosa. Sweet( Rasgoola, Kaju Katri) was not fresh and dosa was not too good. Chat was good but less spicy.

Natalie A.

Yelp
I stopped by yesterday to purchase some Vadai for my family and bought 4 orders as takeout. When I got home, we tried it and I have to say it's the worst Vadai I have ever tasted!! The dough inside was uncooked and lumpy, and had not risen. It must have had too much liquid in it so it didn't cook well. Not to mention it was twice-fried so the crust (which typically is light) was heavy and very oily. The Vadai felt like a hockey puck - heavy and full of oil! Looking at other reviews I now realize their food is less then average so I won't be stopping by there at all. Save your money and go elsewhere on Pioneer Blvd - you have a myriad choices for food.

Yelp
4.5 overall. Taste better... best part no frozen food. Great samosas and fresh Indian sweets. Small place need some new water jugs but taste better than rest as some serve frozen.

Jaaz L.

Yelp
Worst service God blessing if people are not getting sick after eating here Wife of one of the owners was eating at the restaurant as well n kept going in and out to help herself without washing her hands or a hairnet Don't think I will recommend or return evwr

Yelp
Was in a tire shop nearby as they worked I walked here for some snacks. Amazing place is loaded with food stuff. Most of it from Indian Punjab region. Bought the Dal mong for snacking and ordered Maki ke roti and Saag with Ajar on the side . This was a amazing deal and superb taste and all for less then 10 bucks , I also got three of these Maki (corn flour ) rotis to go to eat at home. Watched videos of bollowood movies as I waited for my food. In the end we talked about the Malaysian plane and everyone agreed it was in Diego Garcia.

Yelp
If I'm out anywhere near Artesia, I make a point to stop by Bombay Sweets & Snacks. I wouldn't make the trip out of LA just for it, but if I want pani puri, this is the place. We take it to go and are given a bag of fried balls, spiced water for dipping and chutneys for drizzling. Feels like we're on a street corner in Delhi right in our own home! I once ate in and wasn't so impressed with the bhel puri, and since I haven't heard my Indian husband clamoring to go back, I can guess he's satisfied getting most of his chaat at Samosa House back in LA. The interior wasn't much to comment on either, so my vote is to get your goodies to go like we do. I haven't had pani puri outside of India that tastes nearly as good as the stuff they're selling here, so if you're in the area, definitely make a point to try it out.

Yelp
Not the best decor or the friendliest of services, but I do love this place. Open space and not stuffy, the food is wonderful. I can't remember the names of all the different things I tried, but they have really good food and desserts that stay pretty true to giving you the satisfaction of desiring to eat "real Indian food". Their mangolassi is also a nice addition and really helps control the spiciness of the foods you consume. Happy eating!

Yelp
Yeah! LOVE THE CHAAT here..it's the best chat patti (fast food) type of Indian place on the entire strip..I've been going here for more than 12 years... Eat the Bombay Chaat..drink the falooda :)

Suresh T.

Yelp
Visited this place yesterday (April 30) around0 5:30 PM. We were shopping for 'shev.' We asked for sample to taste. The fellow gave us one small 'stick' of 'shev' to taste. We left. Good bye to this place. Albida.

Yelp
This place is really nice and has great food but they only gave me 11 samosas instead of 12. It was also pretty expensive so it was a bummer. Just make sure you have everything before you leave!

Yelp
WoW! The gulab jamin totally rocks here! I am currently on the sugar high I got from eating two light & dark balls (LOL). Also, I bought a plain barfi and an almond one.....one word: Wow! I really enjoyed the sweets here and I really wanted to see the grumpy man behind the counter. However, there was a middle-aged man helping me so hopefully next time I will meet the grumpy man! LoL. Two thumbs up on the sweets here! I will most definitely be back for another sugar high!!! Whoo2

Yelp
This is a nice little mom and pop snack shop. I don't hate it, and I'm not in love with it either; meaning that, I won't drive from San Diego just to visit this place. They had good falooda and chai. I ordered a piece of kaju kathali. It was not fresh. Even the kaju kathalie I brought back from Jaipur, and ate a week later, was fresher than this.

Yelp
(+)5 for charming decor. Looks just like a restaurant in India. Dirty-hot and cheap looking. Prototype for desi restaurants looks-wise. (+)3 for chaat. Interesting take - I'll definitely give them credit for being a bit different: deconstructed pani puri, dhoi bora, chana, chavli, dhoi, chaat masala, etc. Not bad! (-)100 points for the worst aloo paratha I've ever had ($3.99). No masala or salt for the aloo inside. Blah paratha on the outside, topped with way too much ghee. It came with some dhoi and chutney. Quite shameful - I hope they just forgot the masala and messed up with the ghee on the particular one I had *sigh* In my twisted world this come out to a "3". I'd come back for the chaat. Don't mind the scowling owner (he reminds me of an owl) up front - probably just needs a hug or two - or a good aloo paratha.

Yelp
Last week went their with family, Poor Decor, Not so clean. Ordered bhel puri, dahi puri and Vada Pav. The Bhel Puri was dry, and the masala very old smelling, no garnishings and the pohas were not crispy. Dahi Puri was complete disatster, the Puris were oily and so hard, it was literally unbrekable. The vada pav is nothing but frozen vada pav reheated in a microwave oven. Also ordered a Indian sweet Amriti for take away, very oily and a bit stale. One more incident, there was this gentleman who was arranging the plastic forks and knives in the self service counter and kept dropping them to the floor, to my horror I saw this guy calmly pick-up the fallen spoons and forks and quietly putting them back in the counter. As this kept on going for a couple of times, my wife could not stand it any more and politely asked him to stop doing that and throw away the fallen pieces. Definitely we will not be going again.
