Wow! What an amazing experience!!!! My Fiancé and I took a salmon chater out with our Captain James while we were in Vancouver. I can not say enough about it! 1st and foremost James was amazing! I have never done anything like this and he made me feel so comfortable. He listened to my concerns with zero judgements and help me feel at ease with his good nature, conversation and knowledge of sea life! I never thought we would not only get to do some awesome fishing but get to see a whole different world! The wildlife and scenery was breathtaking! Humpback whales, mature bald eagles (which are a favorite of ours), seals & porpoise! I have never seen anything like it and could not be more grateful for the experience! Would recommend it to anyone that has a love for nature, the water or fishing! Thank you again James and Bon Chovy for an awesome morning that will never be forgotten! Cheers!

Where to begin… Our experience with BonChovy was extraordinary from start to finish. Never expected the hospitality in which James provided as our captain.Knowledgeable, personable, respectful! My Fiance’ was very hesitant of the water and he made her feel right at home. Not only was the fishing phenomenal, the scenery was breathtaking. It was a morning filled with Salmon, bald eagles, humpback whales, ducks, seals, porpoises and so much more. Recommend BonChovy to show you the true beauty of Vancouver. Thank you again!

My wife and I were visiting for a week and picked Bon Chovy Fishing Charters since they were amongst the top rated although we knew nothing about them. We really lucked out. Jimmy was a top notch guide who worked his tail off because he put us on Coho and Chinook salmon as soon as we got to his honey hole. We were worn out within 3 hours from catching fish. Jimmy did everything except setting the hook and reeling in the fish although he offered if we needed it. If we had kept fish, we would have limited out within 30 minutes. We caught 25-30 fish and had so much fun but honestly I believe Jimmy the guide was more excited than us. He was really Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and hard working. His attitude made the whole experience that much better. I could recommend Bon Chovy and their guide Jimmy without reservations and will use them again in the future. My family went on a recent fishing trip with James out on his boat and we all had a blast! Caught lots of fish, put some back and was able to keep more than few for ourselves! We would definitely fish with him again when the next opportunity comes along. Thank you again so much James! We all had a great time 🙂

From booking to fishing it was all 10/10. They were very responsive for booking and helped us choose our trip, we booked at 8 hour day for 2 salmon fishing out of Granville Island. I think our guide was Brandon, he was prepared, outgoing and helped us catch fish all day long. We even saw a couple whales and seals! Highly recommend!

Best fishing trip ever-Landed 10 fish, kept our limit and brought home fresh salmon from Vancouver to Florida. Spent the day on the water with Captain Jacob who was Incredibly pleasant and a joy to be with for six hours. Not to mention a hell of a fisherman! He had a great spot where no other boats were and we just cleaned house. I will definitely return to fish with Captain Jacob at Bon Chovy charters in the future- It was a stunning day on the water.

James was our fishing guide on the morning of 5 October 2025. He was jovial and approachable. We caught around 8 Salmons with a huge 5 kg keeper coho. It was a good experience and we would highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible charter. We had a 10 hour trip with Cory as our captain, and we could not have asked for a better day. Cory was a great captain, extremely personable and fun to fish with. The weather was perfect, the price was super reasonable, and most importantly, the fishing was top tier. If I come to Vancouver again, Bon Chovy is where I'll go for any salmon or lingcod fishing. To top off the great day of lingcod and salmon, we did some crabbing and ended up with more crab than we could handle.

Our guide Dimitri made our outing perfect!!! He was knowledgeable of where to go and how to fish in the area. We caught and released 15 kings with the largest one around 14lbs. He was on time and ready to go. He printed off my license and we were off and running. The boat was clean and in order. All in all it was a great day on the water. Nick and George Poulos.

As a deep sea fishing charter boat captain myself, I know what it takes to run a first class operation, and Bon Chovy delivers! I've fished with Jeff and Jason several times this summer and it's always a successful and fun experience. They know where the fish are and they know how to help you catch them. I've taken my wife as well as some business associates and all were more than satisfied. The equipment and boats are great (they exclusively run Grady White's just as I do), and Jeff and Jason really take an interest in teaching their clients how to hook up and land the big Chinook and Coho's that are swimming around Vancouver. It's an amazing experience to be fighting a strong salmon with the high rise buildings of a beautiful city in the background. As well as I know the waters of southeast Florida, Jeff and Jason are the best guides on the salt in BC.

I went on a fishing charter with Bon Chovy for a bachelor party at the beginning of August 2017. Prior to the trip, I had requested someone from the company contact me, which they did very promptly. I was impressed! I specifically requested fishing for bottom feeders: Halibut and Ling Cod. The representative told me it would be no problem, but that I had to book a 10 hour trip (their biggest day trip package) as that was the only package that would allow for us to go to the gulf islands. I booked the 10 hour package based on this information. On the day of our fishing trip, it wasn't until we were on the boat and outside of the harbour did our guide, Paul, tell us that we were going to stick close to the mainland (Howe Sound and surrounding area). I asked about the bottom feeders and going to the Gulf Islands and he said that he wouldn't be going there because of strong winds. I accepted his explanation and didn't say anything more. Paul was generally nice, but was not very enthusiastic about what he was doing. I asked him if this job was wearing down on him and he told me it was. We spent the next 10 hours trolling for fish and only had one bite from a Coho (which we had to release because it was wild). Paul didn't seem to care if we had a good time. It felt like he just wanted to get the trip over with. At the end of the day, we spent 10 hours on a boat with one bite, no fish and a lot of disappointment. I couldn't help but feel deceived that I was originally told we would be bottom fishing and not informed of anything different until we were already out in the open waters. Perhaps it was unintentional, but it felt like a total bait and switch. At the very least, it was unprofessional. I can not recommend this company to anyone after this experience.

Had to get some fishing done while we are up here on a small vacay. What a totally different fishing experience than the gulf coast. Lost 3 Salmons before I landed my first one, but I dont know if it was me or the no barb hooks. All in all it was a great trip! Thanks to Bon Chovy Fishing Charters and Capt. Jason for putting us on the Chinooks!! Make sure you give him a shout if you make a trip up here!! One of the best charters out of Vancouver!

Jason is the best fisherman I've fished with. I've never caught the number of salmon we caught this past weekend. He genuinely cares about whether his guests are having a great time. I highly recommend this company and will be back again.

I highly recommend working with Bon Chovy! First, I also recommend using Fishing Booker to book the charter. As soon as I clicked yes, I was hooked up, via a chat engine with Captain Jason. We exchanged multiple texts heading up to the excursion. Fishing booker made it really easy to communicate and it gave me a HUGE piece of mind before we got there. I asked, "Special requests: I have two daughters 12 and 11. They love to fish but would like a captain that's good with kids." Bon Chovy responded, "That is not a problem. All of our guides are great with kids with the majority of us having kids." Jason was great. He explained all the gear to my kids, he explained what a "bite" would look like on the down rigger and why we were fishing in certain spots. Despite it being outside of crab season, he still dropped two crab traps for us and we caught a bunch of crabs with 2 being keepers. He explained the difference between males and females and why you could only keep crabs over a certain size. When it came to the fishing, he continued to engage my girls. He had them practice reeling in the rods when we changed locations or had to switch out a lure. He tried multiple different hoochies, spinners and even fished a bit with anchovy. He explained why were trolling at 2 knots instead of slower. He explained to the girls how the down riggers allowed us to fish across a 100 feet of water because each was at a different depth. We were supposed to be on the water for 5 hours but he was sooo determined to help us catch a keeper that we stayed on the water for 6 hours. Jason is a true class act. He respects the art of fishing, he respects the sport and he especially appreciates the beauty and cleanliness of the water. Book your next charter with Jason and you will NOT be disappointed. When we caught a HUGE chinook (king) salmon that we reeled in. His smile is as big as ours because I think he truly was happy for my daughter. Thanks Jason, My kids cannot stop talking about the day.

Jeff was a nice guy, the boat was clean, and he was ready to go right ta 7AM. Like another reviewer, there were no fish. This is the 5th charter I have used, and this has never happened. I feel the entire purpose of paying for a charter is to prevent a situation like this where there are no fish. Mind blowing. My only criticism that I suppose is fair to Jeff, is why not go to another area if we're not getting anything? This is the only charter where I trolled around for 5 hours in the same spot after catching nothing. Perhaps a 50% refund if no fish were caught that day?

Jeff and Jason know fishing! We spent two days on Jeff's Grady White and it was fantastic. There were several boats out fishing, but we were the only one actually catching! Thanks to Jeff, I personally caught 2 gorgeous Chinook salmon, about 10 dungeness crabs, and about 300 spot prawns. Mid April is not high season for fish, but Jeff brought out all of the tricks. Ask him about his patented method for "super tacking". Jeff is seriously the nicest guy you will ever meet. He has been fishing his entire life and is THE expert in Vancouver. I cannot thank Bonchovy enough. These guys are awesome! I don't know why RC wrote such a crappy review. The captain of the boat can only set the lines and bring you to known areas of schools of fish, he cannot guarantee fish unless he is personally putting them on the end of the hook. Jeff knew exactly where to go and we got lucky with the fish. No one else was catching even though there were several boats on the water. Jeff knows Salmon. I have been on several fishing charters, but these guys were tops. The Bonchovy experience was excellent. In addition to helping us with our trip, Jeff and Jason provided boxes for shipping the fish back to California. They also processed our take and did an excellent job preparing our salmon for the trip.

These guys rock and have excellent Videos of their trips. I have fished all over so I know that sometimes there just are no fish to be caught, especially around Vancouver. If there is any hope of catching something Jason and his crew can find it. They are experts that LIVE on the water and practice responsible fishing. I limited out on Sockeye the last time I went with them. We had multiple hits going at once. Crazy times!

This was hands down not a good fishing experience. I guess there were no fish the day I went but, it was evident fish were not biting after about 4 hours of no bites, but we NEVER changed our tactics or position!!!! We ended up trolling for about 7 hours, using dead and frozen sardines we headed back to the dock with nothing to show for it. If you're in Vancouver you might be better off shore fishing, saving your money, and gettting bites, maybe even doing some river/lake fishing.

Went for a 2-day all day charter for sockeye salmon. 3 of us. limited both days (even the captain, Jason got 4 fish the first day and 1 the second day). The sockeye were running, so limiting is fairly easy right now, but we limited much quicker than other boats, and Jason worked his butt off for us. We had a great 2 day adventure and recommend Bon Chovy for a charter without a doubt!!

My husband and I went for a two day charter for our anniversary. Everyone at Bon Chovy was so accommodating and professional. Steve was our guide and he really knew how to help us find the Salmon. We took home 25 lbs! My husband loved it and so did I! Thanks guys for a memorable anniversary.
