Yelp
My oh my, how far this place has fallen. Three of us went on a Sunday evening before a federal holiday -- one would expect it to be crowded. Not including the bar, there were about four other tables with customers besides us. Air conditioning was set too low. It was freezing.
Our server was attentive - at first.
Drinks: One person ordered an Old Fashioned; one ordered water; and one ordered iced tea. Food: We ordered appetizers to share. Bang bang shrimp, two orders of crab cakes, calamari, asparagus, and macaroni and cheese. You'll see in my previous review how I raved about the crab cakes.
I was extremely disappointed that they removed their very best and tasty side -- the au gratin potatoes. They also removed the creamed spinach.
Iced tea was so watery, we had to ask for a new one or water if they didn't have any tea that contained tea.
Bread with chimichurri - first "loaf" (piece) was very hard. Second one was enjoyable.
Bang bang shrimp. We remembered to ask for no lettuce so they don't fill the bowl with lettuce. These were delicious, as always. Win.
The crab cakes were insanely over salted. To the point where they did not taste good at all. Fail.
Calamari. Didn't know it came on a bed of shredded lettuce. WHY? Why is that necessary? It doesn't make it more appealing. It makes fried things soggy. It's a waste of food. As for the calamari itself -- $15 for about 5 rings and 5 clumps of the tentacles. Seriously. Complete fail.
Macaroni and Cheese. Good flavor. Decent portion. But, it needs serious help with texture. Cheese was gritty and the part that was supposed to be creamy and cheesy was quite liquid. Fail.
Asparagus. $6 for five stalks. Any dimwit knows that the woody part of the spear should be cut off. Apparently they don't know this at Bonefish Grill. Five woody, miserable stalks of asparagus on a plate with zero olive oil, butter, or seasoning. Just lying cold and miserable on a plate. Utter fail.
Our table was overflowing with excess plates because of the different appetizers we ordered. Even though they were pushed to the end of the table, that's where they stayed the entire 1.5 hours we were there. Our server completely disappeared after our food arrived. We had to ask other servers for the replacement iced tea and our check.
My prediction is that this location of Bonefish Grill is closed within one year unless they completely revamp and do a grand re-opening with excellent servers, service, GOOD menu items and sides (like the au gratin potatoes), and stop putting lettuce on a plate of calamari and bang bang shrimp. $102 for a horrible experience. We will not be back to this location unless we hear it's been overhauled.
