Lovely friendly staff. Nice place to visit, fun for all ages if you like trains. The museum is very interesting. The cafe was clean, but it stops serving once the last train of the day has left the station for the last ride. There is plenty of space outside to eat picnics. New workshop viewing area very interesting. Little play area for small children in the museum.

Met up with family here for a day out - I booked a carriage for the 6 of us plus infant and wee dug. It was great fun, everyone loved it from our 14 month old grand daughter, niece (13), Nephew (7) to us aging adults! The staff were all very friendly and cheerful and the trains did not disappoint. It is about 20 years since we last visited with our children (now grown up) so my husband is delighted he now has a grand daughter to introduce to the world of railways😂 Worth noting that even if you buy tickets online, you still have to allow time to queue at the ticket office to pick up the actual tickets for the train ride - I hadn’t realised this, so we ended up cutting it a bit fine. Great day out - looking forward to the Santa special 🎅🏻

Lovely railway situated close to forth estuary. Bo Ness station is main attraction with Scottish railway museum onsite too. As enthusiast I was slightly disappointed that I couldn't walk round site perimeter to get a look a the variety of rolling stock and locos they have.

Went on Saturday at 12.30 for a Train ride and fish n chips. What a fantastic day and staff were super helpful very welcoming. The museum with all the models was fantastic....what a skill, so life like. It's such a good experience, adults and kids will love this....give it a try!! Thanks to all the staff for making a day to remember 10/10

A very picturesque little railway, a short distance from Edinburgh and not a million miles from Glesga. Staffed by friendly, chatty and helpful staff. Bizarrely for April on the Firth of Forth, the weather had been dry enough to preclude steam haulage, but not to worry. A beautifully restored and quintessentially Scots Class 26 was the traction, with a steam locomotive (slightly less local, Brighton built 4MT) in light steam around the station at Bo'ness. Glorious day, glorious carriage. We loved our first ever visit to the B&K. Opportunity for further revenue. There was only the one totem magnet available. Plus point: Traditional card type ticket. Nice!

Excellent steam railway with genuine (unbranded) Thomas the Tank Engine and Harry Potter style carriages. Great day out with the children and dog friendly too.

Fantastic experience, the children absolutely loved it. I'd advise taking dnacks. You can get drinks and tea coffee on the train, but a picnic would make it so much more enjoyable.

We went to the Meet the Gruffalo Steam Train experience. The price is expensive for a short train ride so would rexommend to go back just for a normal train ride run by the Bo'ness and Kinness. We arrive early and the station has a cafe and foid truck outside that do hot food, hot drinks, sweetie etc. The staff are very friendly.

Yelp
I had an awesome few hours out here at the wonderful volunteer-ran Bo'ness and Kinneil heritage railway and museum. There's loads to do if you're a fan of trains, including hitching a ride on a steam train up the tracks (£9 or so return), checking out the cool model railway "00 gauge" (free) and the interesting and covered railway museum (£2 or £4 without a train ticket). There's an extensive shop full of train related goodies at good prices too. The best thing is they all love dogs and everyone is so friendly towards our four-legged friends. Luna had a great time and was allowed everywhere, from onboard the steam trains in first class to the model railway and the museum.

Yelp
I was here for the Santa Special and loved it. The railway is run by volunteers so I wasn't sure of what to expect from their Santa Special train, would it be a bit naff? Not a bit of it, the staff were great with an accordionist accompanying a couple of others in getting everyone singing christmas songs, handing out satsumas and dodgy reindeer hats to everyone. Santa had a gift for all the children and they seemed very age appropriate and of decent quality too. All in all a great morning out and it makes me want to go back in the summer for a longer day out.

Yelp
An absolute winner. I first visited 10 years ago and it was cool then. It's way cooler now. Take a ride on real British Rail antique carriages through lovely countryside with views of the Forth. A nice cafe is available but a little pricey. Food did look great. Instead, we walked over to the nearby Tesco and brought a picnic which we ate in a comfy first class cabin during our ride. Someone even came round to collect the rubbish when we returned to the station. We then wandered around the museum with its interactive displays, lovingly restored engines, cars one can climb into, levers to pull and wheels to test. There is even a play area for smaller visitors. We visited with a 14-year-old, two 6-year-olds and a baby and every single one of us loved it. Look out for special events like the Day Out With Thomas The Tank Engine, the afternoon tea on a train, Santa train etc. A charming day out and not overpriced.
