Bonnefanten museum

This is an excellent museum, a must visit when in Maastricht. The collection of paintings and sculpture from the late Middle Ages mixed with (temporary) exhibitions of contemporary art is worthwhile for both the seasoned art lover and the novice. There is a lot to see without needing to be in a museum for the entire day and the art shop is a perfect end to the visit.

Very big museum, don’t have enough time to finish all parts. My suggestion for visitors: leave enough time to explore the exhibition and also for the interaction parts (paper-made hat etc..). The museum shop is very nice! Bring some souvenirs to decorate your home! * museumkaart excerpted, no need for reservation.

VISIT A GREAT DUTCH ART MUSEUM BY ALDO ROSSI AND EXPERIENCE THE NEWLY PLANTED FRONT GARDEN | YOU FIND EVERYTHING IN IT - BEER BOXES TO CAR TIRES | WELL - PROBABLY THE GARDENER WAS DRUNK OR THE DIRECTOR HIGH!….. NO ! IT IS A COPY OF THE MAAS RIVER ISLANDS WITH THEIR HABITUS - A BIOTOP IN MIDDLE OF TOWN - STRONG CONTRAST AGAINST THE URBAN SURROUNDING! WE WOULD LIKE TO BE THE FROG IN THE POND!

The tickets cost 17,5 euro. Museum work only untill 5 pm. Lazy people. On 25 euro you can see Venezia Art Biennial for two days with a lot of art exhibitions. But the exhibition “7 sins” very good. Nice installed. How you made such exhibition? It is about people in Holand… and Brusell, about your ‘freedoms’ and all your sins… And exhibition of Medieval art very good. Thank you!

I was really underwhelmed. I enjoy spending an hour or so in an art gallery or art museum. I'm not very knowledgeable but I know what I like - paintings and sculptures from the last 150 years with some kind of recognisable form. The vast majority of the contemporary collection they had on show on the 2nd floor was really weird - a caricature of modern art. In my view it was pretentious and silly. The older stuff on the first floor was largely religious depictions of one sort or another with a few exceptions. So not my thing either sadly. At €22 each I expected a lot better. On the plus side the staff were lovely - they were friendly and went out of their way to help and explain things.

Great museum with a plethora of art showcased, a gift shop, and a nice restaurant. It is worth noticing that its focus is on contemporary art. I truly enjoyed the few hours I spent there, as well as their food. We visited in the afternoon of a weekday during summer vacation and it wasn't cramped at all.
