Bonus Room

Bonus Room has got some really cool vibes. They’ve got solid beer-and-shot deals, a super nice bartender, and surprisingly good food. We tried the grilled cheese with bacon and the loaded fries, both were really good. I definitely want to come back and try more from the menu. There’s a pool table and a big screen for watching sports, which makes it a great hangout spot. At night it gets pretty packed, but that just adds to the energy. Overall, it’s a fun bar and definitely worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood.

Possibly my new favorite dive bar. Bartenders are super knowledgeable, friendly, and non-intrusive. Food is tasty and smells great. And most importantly, drinks are cheap, and there is always a decent crowd. Patrons are also always happy and kind.

Bartenders are super nice and welcoming. The prices and atmosphere are great. Everytime I go everyone just kind of blends together and it becomes one big hangout.

Food was astoundingly good. I thought it would be a little overpriced, but I had the best BLT I’ve ever had, and a phenomenal chicken wrap. Drink deals are reasonable and in high quantity, and Tuesday trivia was fun with a ton of personality! Would recommend to those in the neighborhood.

Love this place soo much. The bar tenders are all really cool people. It's the perfect dive bar. All the food hits. Everything I've tried which is most of their menu. The blue cheese burger is my favorite. The wings are not breaded and the buffalo sauce is perfect. The tots make a drunk heart swoon. It's a neighborhood hang out and have met a ton of lovely people there

It was busy here and we waited a bit to get a drink, I'm surprised they don't have a now hiring sign posted cause it was just one girl doing everything. Good hibiscus margarita and decent food.

Great classic dive bar! The bartender, I believe his name is Baylor, was very kind and was attentive to all customers. We came here from cobra club with Michael, a stuffed dragon, and Charlie, a new friend from greenpoint ((from nj)) and all 4 of us had an amazing time! I will definitely be back

Happy hour always has a good atmosphere, curated by Chloe. Fast service, good music, great vibes, and fun people working there.

I recently checked out Bonus Room on a whim, just after visiting Evil Twin brewing right across the street. Outside, you can definitely tell that the place is a dive. Inside, there are plenty of '70s vibes and things that make this bar feel divey. In reality, it is quite warm and welcoming and really offers everything you could want in a bar. There are plenty of "specials" on the wall which are essentially just shot + beer combinations. The bar serves Guinness on tap, which is always a draw for me. Our bartender, Kevin, was really friendly and offered me a shot on my birthday. He was working by himself but went out of his way to make sure everything was working properly (including the pool table), alongside serving drinks. This place has a lot of charm and would be great to visit with some friends for some casual drinks if you're in the neighborhood. I could easily see myself spending a couple of hours here!

I noticed that there are no pictures of food, but they have a menu on GrubHub. I made the mistake of ordering from this place and I'm praying that I do not get sick. Aside from my order being more than 25 minutes late, and having to heat up the food, I did not receive what I ordered...Meaning the tater tots that were supposed to come with the burger was replaced with col, hardass shoestring fries and the onion blossom was basically fried breading. My daughter and I were really disappointed. I received a partial refund but I know I will never ever order from this place again.

Preston was the best bartender ever. This bartender was extremely comedating and extremely social. He made us feel very welcomed. Ask for Preston when you come in, he will be a great addition to the night

The vibe depends if it's a shitty bartender or a nice bartender. I came in there once and the tubby bartender literally ignored me for no reason at all. With its convenient location, this place and people who work there could have made a lot more $$ if they're more socially skilled and engaging.

Dive Bar alert! Very lively on a Friday night. We had a couple of Lagunitas and played hours of pool. Bathroom was.....Divey. You know the ones with graffiti and love notes, but it had toilet paper. Yes! We will return often to play pool and chat it up with locals!

It looks like a total dive from the outside but it's actually a cut above say, Lone Wolf, and WAY nicer than Myrtle Pub. There's a pool table in the back, they actually have a good selection of NA drinks if that's your jam, and prices are cheaper than pretty much anywhere (except Myrtle Pub... but that's a whole different conversation)

Went for a quick drink one early Saturday night in Jan 2021. Their outdoor setup had an entire side open with heat lamps. The tables were fairly spaced apart. And most importantly, they served hot toddy. The tater tots went well although I was curious about the $1 "Cuomo sandwich"...

Ash and Evan - wow. talk about great service. dimly lit dive vibes? Check. Delicious beers on tap? check. Friendly and neighborly energy from attentive bartenders....double check. This is it folks: the perfect dive bar experience. I couldn't recommend more. Thank you, Bonus Room!

This place is so great! Excellent drinks and good vibes My apologies* * I had 1 bad date there and it wasn't bonus room's fault. Since then, it is a staple to bring my friends to. Great frozen, great shot beer combos and great bloodys. I'm sorry I didn't update this sooner

Games are overpriced and steal your money, bartenders are drunk assholes - I've waited a month to write this review because I'm so shocked at the experience we had at Bonus Room for a friends birthday. I wanted to cool down, but this night still goes down as one of the stupidest bar experiences I've ever had. I don't drink anymore so I had a super clear view of some ridiculous behavior from the staff. One of the bartenders the night we went was absolutely wasted from the moment we walked in. At one point a friends jacket was misplaced, so they spent a few minutes looking for it/asking around and found it. We went outside to have a smoke. The drunk bartender came out and began to berate my friend, claiming her jacket was stolen. She brought some guy from inside the bar to back her up too, even though my friends jacket was a size XXL, and had a pin on the collar that I gave them for Christmas. This bartender berated and yelled at my friend for a solid 5 minutes until they realized I'd had enough, and would probably throw hands if the conversation continued. My friend is non-binary, has a beautiful beard, and was wearing an amazing dress that night. I have no doubt that this loud mobartender felt empowered by my friends vulnerability. I will never return to this hateful ass place, and you should avoid it too if you want to have a calm night.

After a friend coming to visit me we decided to hit this Brooklyn bar after seen the great reviews on Yelp. The bar opened today at 1pm we got there at exactly 1:30 pm. Exactly on the same corner the bar is in the L train stops which it's a win win for me since it's on my line. We found parking fast the minute we got there. The bar looks really vintage from the outside and amazingly 80s style from the inside I was really impressed it's something you only see in the old movies. We were the first customers to arrive and the bartender by the name of Alex was really nice and helpful. He played music from Spotify great rock mixes. They have a pool table and a few pinball old school machines pretty cool. I had some beers played pool and pinball. I liked the bathroom graffiti it was nice I'll be postings pics up of everything I saw that was interesting. They had so many vintage items I love it! Had a great time in this place and looking forward to coming here again. Will come here with some friends soon. And thanks again Alex for treating us nice.

Let's just say this bar caters to whom they feel like serving. I was meeting a group of friends and the service sucked , they didn't have any of the drinks we wanted, when we asked a question it was as if we were bothering them.

Bartenders will rob you and take your money without your consent. Checked my credit card account a few days later and saw they added their own extra tip. Shady. Stay away at all costs.

Bonus Room is a laid-back bar complete with dim lights, plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, a section for arcade games (I didn't get to experience it- though I wish I did! It added a ~cool~ vintage touch to the place) and nice staff! I can see this being a nice place to catch up with friends. I came here late on a Wednesday night and it was still pretty bustling. We had a couple of beers and some yummy nachos- which were extra cheesy and great in portion.

So some guys thought it was funny to pick on me for being Jewish and the bar tenders did nothing but tell me I was in the wrong for being Jewish

Crawling distance to the L Halsey stop and cheap shot/beer specials. This is the first place outside of Philly that I've seen it called a citywide. Shame on any place that doesn't have a shot/beer special. My liver hates this place, I happen to love it.

The ambiance of a hipster dive bar. The service is alright --but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately I did not find the bonus here. The drinks were lame --just embarrassing for the price.

Waked into this bar with some friends, all good. Nice place nice vibe and it has a pool table ....A PLUS.....after some beers and shots it hit me .....why do i feel like I have been here before ? Then it hit me .....Its the ultimate Rocka Rolla rip off !!....( bar in Willy ). - same exact bottle cooler - same exact stickers on bottle cooler - same button custom seating benches - same 1970s Neons - same draft list on old letter board - same old school Rock posters and 70 - 80 Rock vibe and decor I could go on and on .....but why bother. I would still go back cause i had a good time.

So I pay rent at my apartment and it's a nice place, we have a spacious common room and the location is chill. My only problem is there are no windows or circulation in the main space! But I think I should maybe also start paying rent at Bonus room? Definitely is my favorite bar. This bar was a nice change from the norm. When I went, they were blasting metal and I spent a couple of bucks to fail instantly at one of their pinball machines. I had fun regardless! Would return.

Cool dive bar, looks so American dive it could be a movie set. Didn't lose a mark for slightly disinterested bar staff because that's the deal. Did lose a star for too wide a gap between the flippers in their pinball.

I made a yelp account just to make this review, lol Thank you to the bartenders, Collin and Olivia, for going above and beyond for my boyfriend and I and for a great time last weekend! My boyfriend and I came here after an engagement party in the area, long story short-- my shoe broke. I asked Olivia for some glue (I was desperate) and because they didn't have any Collin took my shoe, and fixed it with a screw and some tape! Like a shoemaker! Lmao. Which thankfully worked perfectly and did the trick to get me home. And a week later, they're still pretty sturdy. But anyway, we ended up staying there until 4AM when the bar closed. We were not only happy I had a shoe to get home in but also were happy with the friendliness and the great service as well. We were drinking beers all night and our bill was pretty cheap, too. Even though this location is far from home I don't think I'd mind taking the trek back there :) (I'll wear better shoes this time)

Music was cool, 80s punk vibe. .bartender was super weird socially though, I felt unwelcomed. also, how are you gunna have a bar in a predominately Spanish part of Bushwick and have no Corona or Modelo? will not be going back

So happy this bar opened up here. Apparently the owners own a couple others in Brooklyn (they know what they are doing). Decor is great, looks just like a good 'ol fashioned bonus room with the wood paneling and green furniture. Bartenders are friendly. Draft beers are the average price. Thank you for not having any TVs, they are distracting at bars.

Unlike traditional "bonus rooms" - which are extra spaces that don't serve any immediate purpose - this bar, located right outside the Halsey L, is crucial for people nearby who want to leave the house but don't want to "go out." West of Myrtle, Wyckoff is lively (there are like five bars on Menahan alone now) but on this side of Food Bazaar there's slim pickins' so Bonus Room and its pool table and pinball machines are actually offering a necessary service. Here are a few things I will readily forgive: A few of the bathrooms are broken and the door didn't shut on the one I used. No hooks under the bar. No cards are accepted (yet?) and the IPA I ordered was connected to the wrong tap, so I wound up with something else - but when the bartender realized the error he comped my next one. I have my fingers crossed that these little snags are just-opened jitters and not the standard of care. Foot traffic and a lack of immediate competition will guarantee them business, but it will be great if Bonus Room regards itself with the kind of self-respect reserved for necessary rooms like kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms - cuz I need this bar right here.

The weirdest smelling bar I have ever encountered. Like a combination of white cheddar powder and vomit. Apart from that I had a blast.

Just a good old fashion good time. Pool, pinball, and lunatics galore. The bartenders are the best. Shout out to Ash and Theresa.

Bonus room is really chill. They have a crockpot full of nacho cheese at the bar which is apparently free with drinks during happy hour. I probably won't try it but I like that it's there! The bar stools are also amazing. The vibe of this bar in two words : fake shitty Oh and arcade games too

The hell with it, I gave the management a chance to reply to my email or call back regarding a complaint I have, and I followed up days later. They did not care to acknowledge my incident. Sucks I have to go this route. Here goes the email I sent them: Hi there, This email is intended in reaching the management. I've been a regular patron of Bonus Room since it's opening, as I am a resident of the neighborhood since 2010. As an avid neighborhood bar customer to your joint and other local places, I've never been treated so horribly by a bartender, especially given a situation that was completely uncalled for. Yesterday (5/17) I show up to Bonus Room at 4:30pm, I sit at the bar, smiling at the young white bartender who clearly makes eye contact with me. She asks what I'd like, so I order. Then she brashly replied, "I'm not talking to you!" Wow, okay, no big deal. I wait as she takes the order of guy next to me. Then I notice that other people who order after me are being served. After a while, I remind her, "hello, I'm still here" and she says with an uncalled attitude: "you get your order when I say so." So I calmly deliver equal attitude back: "okay, but you don't have to be a bitch about it." She obviously didn't like that, and snapped: "I choose who I want to serve and I choose not to serve you!" So I nicely tell her, "I'm from the neighborhood and have been coming here since this place opened." And she says, "as a matter of fact, I don't want you here. I'm calling the COPS!" At that point I'm extremely bewildered and her audacity of calling the cops (in front of me and others sitting at the bar) for no logical reason other that I said she's "acting like a bitch" -- not saying she is one! She tells police that she has a rude costumer and wants her removed. That's it. Cops ignore her call because I'm not causing any offenses nor did I ever threatened her. And I'm sober! I asked for her name twice and skinny blond girl ignored and refused to tell me. I left the bar after about five minutes, humiliated for no logical reason other than her own ego. If types of incidences like these require cop calls, then that's a very bad move for your business, and you're employing someone who is unable to handle customer service. I hope you can reconsider her inadequacy for serving costumers. After all, she is getting paid to serve. (And, this is a dive bar in Ridgewood for god's sake, not some ritzy Manhattan joint.) I'm a huge fan of your bar, have gotten along with all bartenders there, and I hope to continue going and feeling good about my experience there. I'm really not looking forward to burning out your establishment, so I'm hoping you will acknowledge my complaint and justify the situation. **** I should note that I was the only female patron sitting at the bar section. If someone's rude as shit for no reason, and you say back, "no reason to act like a bitch," Would YOU expect a cop call?! WTF.

well, it's a dive alright. drinks could definitely be a dollar cheaper for what you're getting, and the place is painfully lacking a touchtunes jukebox. crowd's a bit white but if u like playing pool and comiserating i'm sure you'll enjoy this place.

::Update to my review before::Bonus Room management has made significant strides towards change for the better. They actually read my review, thought about it and considered what could be improved-which is the real goal with this feedback loop. They got Brian back and made him manager, which makes perfect sense because he's a veteran of some of Brooklyn's most successful "dive bars" and he knows what works for that kind of crowd & environment including a variety of reasonably priced beer & shot specials. The bar staff is pretty consistent now, they are friendly with their own individual brand of swagger, and they appreciate their regulars-big improvement from 6 months ago. This is turn has brought a better crowd. I know they are working on their kitchen and I'm looking forward to that being open as the pickings are slim in the immediate area food wise and it'll encourage people to stay longer. One small thing I don't understand is not doing happy hour on the weekend, that would make sense if it were already busy on weekend days, but it rarely is. When they had their one year anniversary party last month I was there and saw many old faces and some new, but I was proud of them and their growth in that year. I've been in the neighborhood for 12 years and it's changing all the time and Bonus Room is taking note and changing with it. It's a welcome addition to the neighborhood & helps bring us together. Here's to many more years of success!

Divey, laid-back, and non-judgemental. I walked into this bar with a couple friends and we had a great time. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because the music wasn't as diverse as I would want to be. Otherwise, pretty cool bar.

Really this place was lovely until I realized the female bartender only cared about my male counterparts drink and forgot mine. Twice. Seriously not cool and would never recommend to my gender queer crowd. Nostalgic lighting is not worth that kind of treatment.

Super fun divey place with a great staff and great atmosphere. Awesome if you want to go to a local hangout.

Come here all the time, best part is all of the stellar bar staff. Super pro! Try the "vodka soda" it's incredible with a slice of lime or lemon!

Good luck trying to get serviced. Stayed at the front of the bar for 20 minutes and got ignored for the whole time while others who came after me got served. I left.

The bartender/DJ/chef Wilson is tight. Find out when he works and get the Wilson special: beer + nachos + 90's emo

Love this bar! My boyfriend and I had been living in the neighborhood for a while, and we were stoked to have a good neighborhood bar when this place opened up. ALL of the bartenders (MandyJo, Marvin, Alison, Theresa, and Matt) are super friendly and always treat us well. They have a beer/shot special for 6 (5 during happy hour), hurricane on tap (dangerously delicious), and prosecco on tap.

Me go here Christmas, sit on Santa lap on toilet in bar, make wish, it come true, no hangover. Me drink many beer, it cold taste good make me happy man. Nachos very yum, make belly happy. Beer and nachos make me strong man, lift anything. Santa man tend bar sometimes, me like Santa man, he make me haha with many jokes. Santa man make me haha so hard nachos came back out, big mess, he clean. I like go here, me have good time, every time. Similar to a Ruth Chris steakhouse.
