This place has a really cute theme, and the book decor is well done. The location is excellent, and the staff were pretty friendly, but the whole place is incredibly dirty. The capsules are filled with debris and dust. The sheets provided are clean, but the sleeping pad (no mattress, just thin pad) was stained. The bathrooms are covered in grime and mold; the showers looked like they had never been cleaned, and the toilets were disgusting. One of the dirtiest hostels I have stayed at which was a huge surprise both for Japan and for the cost given a hotel across the way would have been the same price for two people. If you really like books, maybe visit for a coffee during the day but I strongly suggest sleeping elsewhere.

Not bad at all! Comfy enough and super clean during my visit. It was a bit stuffy on the top bunk, unfortunately, and my mate on the bottom was kept awake by whispering — the wood is quite thin, so you can hear everything. That said, if you can come on a weekday and get a good deal, I’d recommend it. I wouldn’t pay too much, though. Have to make own bed on top bunk in small space but managed to get it done although I bashed my head in the process.

Was so worried about staying because the reviews were so bad. I'm a total bookworm so I really wanted to try it. Well, my honest opinion was that it was amazing. I booked a double bunk for me and my teenager, we had the one on the second level. It was near impossible to make the bed as there's no room to do so at that level but made do. It was a bit tricky climbing up. The actual bed was comfy despite being pretty much a box! No issues sleeping. Earplugs essential as lot of background noise but with these had no issues. Plugs available in the bunk itself so you can charge your phone next to you. Arrived late so didn't have much time to enjoy it but anyone worrying about staying, it's way better than I expected! Sleeping areas are all mixed sex, there isn't separate areas, but are split for showers and toilets. Godzilla statue and 3d cat nearby too

Book and Bed is in a great location, but for how dirty the bathrooms were, it wasn't exactly cheap. The staff has never cleaned the floor or area around the toilets. There is caked on dust and dirt, and the beds face the living area, which offers very little privacy. Overall, an awkward and uncomfortable experience. Staff acts aloof, like they work at a hip bar or something instead of in hospitality. Anything you ask of them appears to be a burden. Best to find another hostel.

If you are a book lover and want to stay at the centre of Tokyo, also want to enjoy the nightlife, this is one of the good options to stay. For solo travelers it’s recommended. You need to be physically fit while climbing up to the upper deck capsules. Otherwise, it’s good. The wash rooms need to be cleaned more as per Japanese standard.

Tl;dr: just a fancy shit, not recommended, 0/5 I can’t understand why ppl here can rate 3/4 stars when they think something is totally unacceptable. If you don't want to pay high and travel with risk, please find another hotel (maybe chain hotel nearby, at least you can enjoy OSEN when you pay more!) - Hostel for bagpackers, but priced like chain hotels - Dusty, the air quality is particularly worrisome, not friendly for ppl with allergic rhinitis - Only a fancy vinyl backdrop for pictures (feels cool at first),but not much common space can use, quite hard to pack your suitcase/ bag pack when crowd - No real rooms, everyone is living in a barrack with woods and curtains - The partition is quite thin between you and others, can hear ppl whispering or snoring, you have to move carefully - Cleaning issue, no comments The worst part is the hostel staff, the night shift guy is super nice is ok, but day shift is another story. The guy doesn’t want to work and doesn’t like to talk to foreign tourists. No senior staff, no manager, no one you can talk to if the only staff don't give you a damn (they act like bus ticket inspectors in EU, rude and annoying), very Tokyo style!

I absolutely loved the vibe of the space and the location, but for the money I paid, this was not worth it. The capsule bottom must never be cleaned, as it is full of dust (I have mild asthma, and usually I'm ok but not this time). The showers also seemed like they had not been cleaned in a while. I have been in other capsule hotels that could charge this price given the better quality of service and cleanliness. Make sure to bring some earplugs, I could hear the bass of a club outside. It is still a beautiful space to hang out in, with great books to flip through (looked at Miyazaki's work)

Very nice atmosphere in the common area and lots of interesting books in many languages! Staff were polite and spoke English. I had a lower bunk which was quite clean but the sheets were a bit small and you make the bed yourself. I heard the top bunks can be dusty but I didn't experience that so I can't really comment. Shared facilities (toilet, shower) were nice and clean, nothing to complain about there. Would recommend if you want a place to read and sleep. Central location too

Yelp
Loved this place! It was my first time in Japan and just had a 20hr layover so I decided to book a capsule hotel despite my friend's advice not to, since people can be noisy and you can't sleep, but I ended up loving the experience. The check in was smooth, the staff is very pleasant and will walk you through what to do. The space is what you see in the picture, a library of books and beds between. I booked a solo bed which was big enough for me, they have a charging port, a safe, a ledge to store some other stuff and a bar with hangers so you can hang clothes in the actual sleeping space. They gave you a free towel. You can also rent PJs and toiletries if you didn't bring them. People were very mindful of keeping themselves quiet, except one person who kept dragging their slippers. But I guess that's not the hotels fault. The bathrooms are clean, and they have the super fancy Japanese Toilets. Over all a great experience for me. Oh they give you earplugs too.

Yelp
A bookstore you can stay overnight in. Hailed as one of the most unique hotel experience in Tokyo, booking a spot as you imagined, was a little troublesome unless you do so at least three weeks in advance. The concept is simple, a library-like hostel with sleeping quarters similar to that of a capsule hotel. Each bunk has limited space but enough for one or two depending on the size of your choosing. A two tiered curtain system acts as the door to your private sleeping chamber. Sound insulation was a bit of our concern, but guess what? We slept like babies throughout the night. Bathroom was clean and well organized. Towel rental runs about a buck and a half per towel (pajama rental is available as well). After a full day of sightseeing and touring, nothing is better than sitting down and reading a random book out of their selection. And yes, I found a picture book on nothing but poo~ and I read it page to page while sitting in the middle of the store. What can I say? I'm a man of taste and sophistication~

Yelp
The other night John and I stayed in an amazing capsule hotel. We had planned on spending the night in Kyoto but instead we stayed in Tokyo at Bed and Book Capsule Hotel. It had a little cafe that served coffee, tea, and a variety of beers. Pages from the manga Akira hung from the ceiling and books in Japanese/English lined the wall. One of the capsules was big enough for the both of us, but we got two. It also had a little safe inside the capsule. It was a little hard to find but it was very clean. I was very happy we spent the night here.
