20 Best Things to Do in Rome, According to Locals

"An independent bookstore with two locations near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona that blends museum-shop sensibility with curated gifts. Annie Ojile praises the owners' background and presentation, saying, "What I love about [this shop] is that the owners’ history is with books and museum shops and they have a way to present all their treasures in a very interesting, cheeky, chic way." She adds that she buys nearly all her gifts there—candles, hand soap, art, canvas bags—making it a recommended alternative to mass-market souvenirs." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. I love BOOKtique! The volunteers are always wonderful and the book selection is incredible. I've spent many lunches perusing the shelves here and at their second location, also in LO.

Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library have 2 used book stores. This is the smaller one but has the higher quality books. Both are well worth visiting.

Being fairly new to Lake Oswego, I was thrilled to learn about The Booktique! I first discovered the location on Monroe Parkway by New Seasons. This new City Hall location recently opened as well. The City Hall location may be hard to find at first(especially for newbies like me), but it is SO worth the effort! Upon entering, it can easily be mistaken for a new bookstore. Very cute, bright and welcoming with a great variety of books. Both Booktique locations are staffed entirely by cheerful volunteers, and proceeds support the LO public library. I won't buy books anywhere else! P.S. They also have a website where you can order books online!

Brand new branch of the ever-popular Booktique that has been going for 30+ years in Lake Oswego and benefits the library. Some challenges in the first couple of months as it is part of the new City Hall that is now open. Next door parking lot is set to open and it is a totally lovely place to browse. The volunteer staff is very friendly and helpful. Bring your kids to enjoy their own space.

I discovered The Booktique a few years ago and just love it! It's a used book store with excellent pricing for near new, gently used and classic books. The staff is mainly a very dedicated group of volunteers who love reading and books. After a few years, I became a volunteer myself. During the pandemic, the two stores began to innovate by offering online shopping. As businesses were allowed to open, The Booktique opened with reduced hours to accommodate available volunteer staff. Since the stores are open Tuesday through Saturday, that hasn't been a problem. I'm sure extended hours are in the planning. I'd say to try it out. It's worth the effort.

I was thrilled to see Booktique’s store in the new city hall building. The city of Lake Oswego is very progressive in their support of Friends of the Lake Oswego Library. My favorite sections are the children’s section which has books from babies to young adults, the Oregon section, cook book section, and literature. Signed copies are marked with autograph stickers on the front of the book. The staff is very helpful. The books have been donated and are used but most books look new enough to give as a gift. As soon as City Hall’s parking lot is finished, there will be easy access to the store

Booktique has two locations--one on Monroe Parkway at Mountain Park, and a second one at the new city hall. Construction of the parking lot at city hall is not completed, but will be soon, at which time the store will be accessible to people of all abilities. At Mountain Park you can park right by the door. The store is about to expand its hours. The store is run by dedicated volunteers. Mountain Park has about three times the number of books as city hall. Both stores are wonderful places to browse and shop, with great bargain prices.

When I was new in Lake Oswego a few years ago, my friend showed me around and took me to the Booktique at Monroe Parkway. This new, added location at City Hall is more convenient for me and I also like the idea of ordering online and being able to pick up my order here. Great prices, even for current fiction. The new parking lot, with handicap parking, makes this store available for everyone.
