It’s got all sorts of neat stuff and I enjoyed their book selection. But most things are kind of on the pricey side for what I expect out of a thrift shop

Elizabeth McLean

Google
There are always interesting and well curated finds in this store. I love looking for clothing and kitchen items. And kids love playing with rotary phones!

I am visiting Boston. I often don’t do well at these kinds of stores because they don’t have much in my size or it’s overwhelming or the prices are outrageous. Not the case for this store. I found so many beautiful pieces in new or nearly new condition. Fair pricing and great selection in my size (XS). Absolutely recommend.

E P.

Google
Besides the fact that they sell overpriced used items. I went there for the first time, I bought a hat that was fitted I didn't noticed because I wanted to check out the place quick and fast due to the pandemic still. Minutes after leaving the store I went through my bag of goodies I bought. I noticed the hat was fitted and a bit small. I wanted to return it for my money back or get something else. Mind you.... I had just left the store not even five minutes as I was nearby visiting family. Not even five minutes they sure remembered me. .. Not going going back.. there are definitely other thrift shops. They were ok when I purchased items, but not when I called to inquire about the hat that I had issue about. I didn't notice it was fitted. Simple mistake. People thrifting is much better in Buffalo and customers service at its best . Much better brands and much affordable. I mean what if I was a mystery shopper?

Daren Salter

Google
Well-curated mix of men and women’s clothing, footwear and small home decor items. In my experience the staff have been relaxed and helpful, and sometimes negotiable on pricing. I look forward to stopping by whenever I’m in the neighborhood. The only downside is the burn of finding the coolest jacket you’ve ever seen, just one size off.

Paige B

Google
Definitely not an affordable thrifting place… which would be fine if the brands they were carrying were more prestigious or vintage. But they’re not, they’re like Ann Taylor and banana republic. $36 for a second hand banana republic top (with a hole in it) is not worth it. Not much for size XL (and not really plus size friendly). Very limited selection. Cute shop though.

Google
I love this store and its nice to have in my community. Over the past few months I have purchased a really nice Madewell baby dollar style flannel shirt ($20), a gold silky dress ($24), a hat ($10). My boyfriend even bought a nice Jcrew tshirt ($26) and he hates second hand stuff! You'll find that there are also more expensive clothes like cashmere sweaters, vintage jackets etc if you have the $$$ to spend. But for me, it has the sustainability of second hand, with name brand things, that look brand new, for a reasonable young professional price. I stop by once a week so I don't miss the good stuff!

Google
With new things arriving almost daily you'll never know what wonderful must have item your eyes might rest upon. The only bad side is that most of the employees are so young and inexperienced in the world that their basic people skills end 1 minute after they are forced to stop intently staring at their smart phones or having animated conversations with co-workers. It's not their fault, every young person is like this. Great store mananger but even she can suck the joy out of a room with a few words. Expect great stuff to buy at great prices and service that is usually just 'okay'.

Yelp
Our first atop into this charity store that funds the HIV/AIDS community. Very very clean, organized, great quality items with wicked friendly staff. We will totally be back to shop when in the area. Easy to find off The Pike. Hand sanitizer available for all walking into the store. Clean up of changing rooms after each customer. Very pleased with this store.

Emma Blaxter ..

Yelp
I love this place. There's home goods and clothes, sometimes a vintage rack in the back. It's all end brands, often with the tags on, sold at half price or below. And best part is the money goes to Boomerangs and their mission to support the AIDS Action Fund. It's guilt free shopping.

Christopher C.

Yelp
some guy named phillip came here about 5 months ago he was kind of a dick, really tried to haggle the workers for a lower price at a thrift store. he was also very ugly and balding. dang

Philip W.

Yelp
They have to get rid of snobbish help. It is a second hand store. A Clerk told me it was a Boutique.

Juin L.

Yelp
Cute store. Very clean, great lighting, with a charming boutique feel. The staff was very friendly - greeted me when I came in and when I left.

C L.

Yelp
I found so many treasures. The staff is sooooooo nice. I didn't get his name but super chill. Great vibes with music choice. Store is clean and layout is inviting. I'll be back!!

Amy P.

Yelp
I'm a bit of a clothes snob, and I ALWAYS find amazing pieces here. It is truly a curated experience, with lightly worn or even new designer pieces that make you feel like your finding something special, supporting an important cause, and being environmentally friendly. They also have furniture and home decor that have caused me to do a double take. Staff is A+++ Ask about the loyalty program!

Danielle C.

Yelp
This is the expensive version of a thrift store. Here is where all the high end labels go. As a result, nothing is really under $20, with most items in the $50-$100 range. Expensive! But the curation is quite nice. It almost feels like walking into a consignment store.

Suzy B.

Yelp
Something about this place doesn't sit right with me. Upon my first time visiting and noting that everything was designer and expensive (think retail for $600, selling for $450 type store), I asked if they bought items that people sold to them. They said nope and that everything in the store was donated. Um I'm sorry but who the heck is DONATING Fendi and Versace so you can profit off of it at a ridiculous mark up??? It just doesn't add up.

Lady B.

Yelp
Brown babe here. Avoid if you have melanin. Even an ounce. Cashier ignored me upon entering while enthusiastically greeting all the white hipsters coming in. Also, was hit by a guy working- moving a mannequin. Did I get an apology? An acknowledgment? No. I guess I had my invisibility cloak on. On the stuff, worth checking out. Good products, pricey but great cause so worth it. Like I said, just mentally prepare yourself to be invisible til your wallet comes out @ checkout.

Pamela K.

Yelp
This place is a HIDDEN GEM. I cannot even believe how many times I have walked past this place and never really considered it. Well I went in a couple weeks ago and saw a random water pitcher and decided to pop back in today to see if it was still there. It was. Along with some real treasures that I could not live without. My level of excitement for my purchases can't be measured. I also really have to call out the staff, for being awesome! They are super friendly and just give off good energy

Greg T.

Yelp
Stopped in while in the area to check out the men's selection. They had a fair amount of pieces but nothing that caught my eye. Prices seemed reasonable for what they did have on hand.

Yelp
I myself had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE at your CAMBRIDGE STORE LOCATION! A staff member was rude and hostile towards me a few weeks ago (that same one I reported a while back)! This nice gentleman was courteous enough to allow me in line ahead of him, then this Black woman associate by description yelled for HIM to come to her! After the transaction, I approached that woman, excused myself and mentioned the gentleman was nice to let me go ahead of him, and she lashed out with, " Madam, if you say anything else to me again you can't shop here any more!" I the. Got her name (Diane), and responded, "Okay I'll say it to Corporate Management" and mentioned what a lousy personality she has, then proceeded out. I got an e-mail info from your NICER J.P. Store from this nice man and used it right there to let this District Manager know of my UNPLEASANT experience! She responded acknowledging how "IMPORTANT" my feedback is"! Next time I went in the store, proceeded to try on a pair of shorts (which were too big and appeared RUINED) there were 2 cops awaiting me!! Someone unfairly WASTED THE POLICE'S TIME to see to it I never came back!! I am HAPPY TO NOT GO BACK to that crazy-like store anyway! However the Manager herself should have simply told me herself not to come back! The police was understandable outside, and obviously my record was found clean, I've got law enforcement in my family and hav also honored my country! They did however mentioned this unfortunate it is, that an establishment has the right to bar anyone they choose. I told the officer I'd be GLAD to not return anyway! Someone made a FALSE CLAIM against me that I threatened to "bring in some people"!!! How FOOLISH and also UNTRUE! There is retaliation for the report I made with that District Manager and if she sides with this store, she's just as much as in disgrace as the store location! I've had PLENTY of people tell me that your store location is very bad BOTH in customer service, which has little sense of dignity and respect for loyalty, AND the clothes! I want to also add that the Store Manager-in-question was horrible by customer service loyalty and I strongly feel that she was the one who called the police, which was RIDICULOUS!

Adrienne T.

Yelp
Cute, cute, cute, AIDS Action! Way to go! I LOVE it! What a GREAT way to fit right in to the neighborhood. So, this is the Boomerangs "Boutique", if you will. Top designer names (Brooks Brothers, Coach, Ralph Lauren, Ben Alder, etc.) all neatly hand tagged, and separated by sizes. There is NO junk here. This is TOP SHELF stuff. They play great music (old Ella Fitzgerald, old B.B. King, etc.), there are two funky, chic, hip, knowledgeable clerks, and lots of neat clothes and accessories for you to peruse-all tastefully displayed, of course. It feels Newbury Street-ish, without "being" that part of Newbury Street-ish that we don't like. Prices aren't bad either. LOVE it!

Sarah T.

Yelp
This place is so upscale and so expensive that I'm not even sure how to classify it. I just wanted to browse as I'm a big fan of second-hand items, but after seeing how expensive the merch was, I was scared to touch anything:) I think I'll stick to the original Boomerangs in JP.

May N.

Yelp
Very cute store with nice secondhand clothing benefitting the AIDS Action Committee. The front of the store has some housewares, the middle of the store is women's, and the back of the store is men's. It has a boutique feel, no need to be constantly dabbing Purell on your hands as you sift through mounds of clothing. The selection is very edited, everything is hand-tagged, and there were some great designer finds like Theory pants, small silk scarves. I saw a pair of brown leather pants on a sale rack for under $30 because the zipper was broken. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything I liked in my size. The sales associate was nice and there's a dog who wanders about the store.

Erin B.

Yelp
The Good: How do you argue with a charity shop dedicated to the Aids Action Committee? Even if they sold gum wrappers you'd still buy to support this cause! This shop is tucked away on Washington Street by the catherdral and there is ample street parking nearby. I went on a Sunday and had no trouble finding a spot, even with a baseball game at the field and church across the street. The men's finds are absolutely insane. Versace, Armani, Burberry were some of the dress shirt names that stood out to me. I was impressed with the price and high quality of the formal wear for men. There was a $38 Hermes silk tie-this was totally mind boggling to me as they go for $100+ on ebay. Lovely men's finds. The Bad: Not bad, really, but er, interesting...this is the "Special Edition" Boomerangs where you'd expect the highest end items to be and with the exception of the mens furnishings, I have found higher end/couture desingers on the rack in the other branches. The women's offerings were naturally more picked over and the names weren't there. I guess they gotta put something on the racks. I think you could score big here if you hit at the right time. The Ugly: No plus sizes? The shoes were a jumble? I'm reaching for this. Conclusion: If I were a dude I would give it five stars :) Also, they could add more handbags. And the staff are committed to the AAC. So right on.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Nothing really caught my eye today but I will give this place another try sometime. I expected more designer items based on what people said. I saw a lot of Kate Spade and Coach type designers which can easily be found at Nordstrom Rack for a similar price and unused. I saw cute Marilyn Monroe plates in the window but for $24/piece it was a bit too much than I was willing to spend. They also have some household items and books, dvds and cds. I didn't see a ton of women's sizes the men's racks looked more filled on this visit for me. The sales people weren't very friendly and didn't greet me or acknowledge me while I was walking through the store, oh well, I'm willing to give it one more try.

Steve L.

Yelp
What a bonanza! Walked by Boomerangs on the way to the Morse Fish Company every day for a year until I saw a bowtie in the display case. Went in. Bowties! Blazers! Vintage stuff! Not the cheapest stuff in the world - that's what the Salvation is for - but the slight premium is worth the curation. No digging through JC Penney shirts to get to the good stuff here. Unfortunately, they don't quite curate out the Jon Gosselin crap that passes for fancy. The collection changes pretty slowly; worth monthly trips, at least.

Lynette K.

Yelp
This is a little superstar! What a great idea (Aids Action REPRESENT in the South End!) What a great niche-fit! Excellent deals on fabulous brands and pieces. Unlike it's scruffy (i.e. loveable) counterparts, it does not have piles of small, misc. cheap housewares, but focuses on clothes, accessories and a few choice houswares. Great space too! Long, narrow-ish and airy! Used to be a laundromat.

Glutenfree G.

Yelp
Let me start with i love the idea of vintage, but every time I get into a vintage store I am overwhelmed by the smell. This place was so clean and tidy. The women's clothing was organized. Lots of theory and J crew. Their denim cuts are little out-dated right now. The men's section was amazing. High end labels galore. Wish the ladies were as awesome. For someone, who to begin with is usually skeptical of actually finding something at a vintage store to give this place a 4 star rating really says something. I've been to all the shops on newbury and in cambridge. Not a fan.

Dorothy W.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to shop for clothes and household items that are hand selected by an educated staff and lovingly displayed. This is NOT a messy Goodwill shopping experience, nor is it like the other Boomerangs locations, which are really terrific spots for bargain hunters in their own right. This store sells the high end donations. Designer clothes are featured and have been carefully marked by the gracious staff with hand written tags, indicating that research has been done. Bargains can be uncovered, but not the type of bargains you might, just maybe, find at your local Salvation Army. Clothes, particularly men's clothes, are among the items in the spotlight. The prices are definitely reflective of the "Special Edition" mentioned on the sign out front, as the designers represented are tops, but exceptions can be found. And any problems (one tiny moth hole on that gorgeous cashmere scarf) are noted. There's a small selection of art, household items, jewelry and books....Again, they have been well researched and documented. The atmosphere would please Ralph Lauren himself, with the polished hard wood floors, classic jazz playing in the background and the sparkling attention to cleanliness. Everything is beautifully organized and displayed. I can not think of another shopping experience in the Boston area that is similar. It's not all vintage and does not advertise itself as being so. Yet there are vintage items here, waiting to be snapped up. Love supporting Boomerangs, and I am so glad to have found their Special Edition store. With some big parties coming up, not to mention some creative redecorating going on, I'll be back again and again.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Great store if your looking for nice consigned men's clothing. Their women's selection is very minimal as is their furniture but this is the best boomerangs in the city. Unlike the other locations you can find really quality items here at an mid to upscale price. I bought my boyfriend a couple sweaters from here when we first moved into the neighborhood but I'm not sure I would buy any women's clothes

Kris T.

Yelp
I love the folks at Boomerang. Most of my activity there is donating but it's fun to browse around at the luxury used items. There's a fairly big selection for women, a bit less for men but it's always worth poking around. They have some household items, books and curiosity items as well.

Erin C.

Yelp
Better curated, more high-end, consignment-type clothes than the regular Boomerangs (but of course, also more expensive). Still cheaper than Second Time Around and everything I saw was in good condition, even if I didn't like it. Some reviewers note that they have vintage...well they don't really have vintage--just the same type of clothes you would find at a regular consignment store. This is really a plus if your style is not at all vintage-centric and you are looking for something just a few seasons old. - Really large men's selection--lots of shirts and sweaters. - Small women's selection, but good for finding more dressy items. Also, a pretty good collection of scarves. - Not such a good selection of shoes, unfortunately.

Hannah I.

Yelp
I love the set up of this place because it's very chic and vintage. The pieces are nicely organized and not chaotic unlike most thrift stores. They definitely have high end stuff but I don't think they have enough pieces. I definitely have seen better high end stores with more selections compared to this one (i.e. Closet exchange in Needham). If I did like something it would be too much for me to afford. I think many of their items are overpriced. If you're a college student like me, I wouldn't recommend coming to this place. On the bright side, the employees here are very friendly!

E T.

Yelp
I sneak in here once a week, and usually walk out with something that I refuse to pay full price for when I can come here and get it. I 'm kind of having mixed emotions about writing this cus I don't want it to get too well known but at the same time I feel that I must give this place its props, I like the JP and Rossi one to but this one is less picked over and has exactly what I like 99% of the time..

Stephanie K.

Yelp
A highly curated Boomerangs with designer labels. It is very expensive for a 2nd hand store and is comparable to 2nd time around. It is a small store and everything is neat and tidy like a small boutique. I personally did not find anything I liked enough to purchase.

Dani K.

Yelp
Awesome store with a exciting way to find vintage and designer clothes, some really cool rare books as well.

Alison Y.

Yelp
Totally disagree with negative voters. boomerang folks are so nice, kind and helpful. I love Loel, who is so sweet and goes out of her way to be accommodating. Prices are decent for designer items offered.

Leonardo L.

Yelp
This is for sure my Favorite consigned store ! great name brands you will only find at their south end location . I try to go at least once a month because they always have new items . I Highly recommend this place

Deanna D.

Yelp
Great store full of lovely pieces in great condition and at reasonable prices. They have a nice mix of vintage and new pieces and lots of designer brands. The woman working the store was very friendly and helpful. I picked up a great BCBG black skirt for $20--awesome deal in my opinion. Best of all the proceeds from the store benefit the AIDS Action Committee's which is wonderful. Overall a nice store that's worth stopping into if you're in the South End.

Liz P.

Yelp
Wonderful chic little shop- great atmosphere and fun shopping similar to the other 2 Boomerangs stores (haven't been to Cambridge yet) with great music-none of the ancient crap that gets played in almost every store one goes in today. The sales associates are very nice to chat with even if you are just browsing. Great finds- a leather Coach bag for only $32. I do donate to the West Roxbury store and shop there quite a lot, but when I'm on the Silver Line I always drop in to see what's new. Yes, I know you can get designer clothing at The Home for Little Wanderers in Roslindale but their prices are ridiculous. This shop is far better and doesn't remind me of a jumble sale.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Everything is way overpriced, you can get better deals at tj maxx, the retail value they put on the tag are ridiculous. The staff was very rude and was more caught up in their convo to even properly greet their customers. Will never go back here and I don't recommend it.

Martha M.

Yelp
I've given many items to the JP store over the years, and recently to the West Roxbury store. After a major closet cleanout, I had a number of items I thought might be more "high end," and I investigated consignment shops for the first time. Several had closed, the rest wanted mostly designer labels and clothing not more than two years old, and came with lots of attitude. After a really unpleasant morning visiting these places, I stopped by Boomerangs Special Edition in the South End. I didn't go there originally because many of the reviews indicated they specialized more in men's clothing, but on my visit, I found a nice balance of men's and women's, including jewelry and accessories. It's a smaller store than their other locations, but very well put together and easy to browse. I asked Tzivia behind the counter for advice. She was so welcoming and positive! What a breath of fresh air! Even though it was Saturday, they weren't too busy, and she came out to my car to check out some specialty items before I hauled everything in. She was genuinely enthusiastic about all the items I had and helped me bring everything into the store. She also assured me that the woman who curated jewelry was quite knowledgeable and would not let anything of real value slip through for just a song. All in all, an excellent experience. I left with an empty car and a lighter heart, and boatloads of gratitude for Tzivia!

Karen L.

Yelp
I love this place, and kind of don't want anyone else to know about it--except that I think EVERYONE else should know about it. The selection here is carefully curated, and the people who work here are invariably friendly and helpful. It feels silly paying full price for new clothes when this place is just down the road and is non-profit, to boot.

Retro G.

Yelp
I finally made it here after bookmarking it forever. Very nice and welcoming space, fun to browse. I completely agree with prior reviews: women's clothing disappointing and mens's phenomenal. I, too, have found more fabulous women's attire at the "regular" Booms in JP. There was just too much J. Crew here. I did enjoy shopping, still managed to leave with a Vince blazer (like new/$50), a fun pleather bag and a Zara (oops) sweater which was $20. Staff is friendly and create and environment where customers start to chat and shop together. And you can't beat shopping for a great cause.

A A.

Yelp
Real nice stuff for men. No question. But it's expensive. $350 for a secondhand Brooks Brothers Regent suit? I've found brand new ones on eBay for that price. DressShirts weren't a bad deal with the sale (buy one/get one half off). Decent selection for a small store. And better selection/brands than the JP store.

Shelley S.

Yelp
Like any secondhand store, it's about the hunt. Awesome labels, fair prices, and feel-good mission. And the shopkeepers get as excited as you do when you find something you love!

Yolanda Y.

Yelp
I didn't realize this is a higher-end version of the Boomerangs in Jamaica Plain until I stepped in and browsed for a bit. Even though I didn't find any clothes that practically jumped into my hands to be tried on, I think it's got potential. What I did find, though, is a beautiful Le Sport Sac back pack that couldn't have been more perfect. For $35 on a tax free weekend - the price was right! It was destiny for me to walk in there and find that bag! Anyway, it's definitely a place worth checking out, prices are reasonable, and I'm definitely planning on coming back to see what other stuff they put out in the coming weeks.

ChianWen T.

Yelp
Okay, a used, very average Marc by Marc Jacobs dress for $150? Other items were all priced ridiculously similarly to the Marc Jacobs dress. Seriously, most Marc by Marc Jacobs dresses price at $295 MSRP. Stores like Saks, Bloomies, Nordstroms, and Neiman have ridiculous sales at least twice a year. I just picked up a bunch of DVFs and Marcs from Saks for 70% off, Brand new and just my size. So why would I pay more for something used?

cc w.

Yelp
i went here today and at first was really into it, very cute looking store. I spent a long time browsing and I noticed the woman working greeted every person who walked in, told them about a sale they had going for the day and offered them cake EXCEPT ME. I am mid-20's weird colored hair and dress a lil whacky so I don't fit in the South End yuppie vibe the store had so I was ignored. I was in the store for a very long while and considering buying a number of items but being snubbed turned me off and I decided to take my vintage-love elsewhere.

Richard B.

Yelp
They have some good stuff here, a more exclusive selection of items than the other boomerangs. The higher quality does come with higher prices though

S. F.

Yelp
Love this place. I buy something on my way home at least once every couple weeks. I always am able to find a nice piece in this store. Wish they had a special discount for frequent shoppers.

Lynne S.

Yelp
This is a great store. I've found many great finds there. They do a great job curating their selections with both high end designers as well as more common/lesser known designers that are just good design. I try to go in there every 3-4 weeks to see what new cool stuff they have.

Jan R.

Yelp
I have visited the Jamaica Plain & West Roxbury locations and was pleased to see how things are constantly changing and you can get some great buys & deals! I then was fortunate to find a parking space in the South End and YIKES did I ever fall into Heaven on Earth!!! First off the staff are absolutely polite and attentive to EVERYONE that comes thru that door. Secondly, the manager Bruce is the greatest all around; he is absolutely a "people person" and genuine, treats you with respect and patience. He knows his merchandise all around. I'm thoroughly pleased with the way the clothing tags are detailed; from retail cost to any problem with item itself. Yes the prices are higher but the merchandise is absolutely of higher quality and top designers! Yes it appears that there are more men's clothing but, that's only because women don't give it a second thought when they see a Jimmy Choo or Chanel item and every other top name; they don't let it pass them by. "We purchase immediately" because it's not going to be there next week! I made going to this location like one of the errands I have to do every week; and every week I find something else to add to my collection of top deals. But most of all I like what the funds are used for! Boomerangs South End you are doing an awesome job and I'm so happy that I took the time to find this location and I will continue coming weekly...
