Everytime I visit my dad, we go to Boomers. It get more and more comfortable each time we go. We always have a good time and enjoy the people and the atmosphere. Never had any issues with anyone. Very drama free.

Was refused to let in once I showed my ID. I was looking forward to check the place out for its pool. I’m a 24 year old news journalist recently moved to Austin but instead I was interrogated for my address. I guess this place is only for Boomers.

Last night we visited Boomerz for a friends Birthday. First time going so I didn’t know what to expect. Really cool place to shoot pool, darts and have drinks with friends. Really cool vibe to the place with a good mix of age groups. Handicap accessible with plenty of room to move around and see all sides of the club. Great audio system, very pleasant that seemed to enjoy their jobs! Will definitely be going back next time we have a gathering of friends.

Went to play darts. Not a good place for darts. The score boards have permanent marks, so you have to keep score with alternative method. They had karaoke, foosball, shuffleboard,pool, Service attentive at the bars. Looks like shuffleboard and pool would have been better. Darts would not stick to board since boards are with out. May consider going back, but not to shoot darts.

These jerks put a tip on my bill. I checked my bank Sunday morning and they gave themselves $10 extra dollars on my card. I already gave them a cash tip.

my partner and i have come here together a couple of times, but she's been here more times than that. she's the reason i go there. but, she's not the only reason. we're big fans of a live dive where five gets you jive. here in the former live music capital of the world, experiences come with a high price. not here, you can get a taste of what's kept austin weird and you'll still have money for the jukebox. i recommend saying "no" if any men approach you offering you a muddy shot of rumplemintz. and make sure the rest of your party also says "no," because they'll likely ask everyone at the table. they might double check that you didn't want it, but don't be galled, just repeat the answer "no" and they'll take the hint. most of the time, and in fact, all of the time, as luck would have it, they'll just go sit back down at the bar and take the shot themselves. it's a win-win. you can do this on a normal night, or a holiday night because boomerz is always open.

We popped into this place randomly on a Thursday. The staff and regulars were all so welcoming and fun, and it just happened to be karaoke night! This is my new favorite dive bar! A huge selection of drinks and games to play, great mixture of patrons, and the staff is incredible! I’ve always enjoyed coming here but they have REALLY come a long way in the past couple of months! 10/10

It's a rad bar with cold beer, music, and billiards. Staff was friendly and everybody seemed to be in a good moon.

I want to mention the best workers. logan the door guy he makes you in the mood to be happy instead of just scary. And makes you in a good mood. Regulars you should meet Chris is good at teacher pool and making you feel welcome he has the white hair and the picture i posted is of him. Free pool tuesdays Each night features something special: Karaoke, pool tournament, poker tournament, etc. limited food selection, pizza and tots. Love this bar!

Terrible place. The drinks are made without thought and the EMTIRE STAFF IS RUDE. I cannot stress how poor the staff is. The bouncer was constantly harassing customers and making everyone feel uncomfortable. This place is not even worth a visit.

I mean what is there to say this place is definitely gives you the at home bar vibe! Hang with friends, jam to good vibes, pool, ping pong, darts. Service is always amazing no matter the time of day! Bartender Alyssa kills it every time I'm in at night, drinks made well and fast it may be busy but she's moving! Love this place!

The atmosphere is great and people and staff are nice and friendly. But as for service they are slow. For the regulars that go they get faster service. I myself am not one but I go once in a blue moon. I usually have to wait 10mins and I always sit at the bar. Just kinda wished they were attentive to everyone and not just the regulars. Other than that I like going there.

Looks like hell on the outside but it's the environment that matters. Food is well priced and so are drinks... never thought I'd find that in Austin anymore. Interesting vibes but staff are really nice and so many games available

A great hidden gem right by the Y at Oak Hill. If it were closer to me it would be my bar of choice.

My favorite dive bar in all of austin. An austin classic that my parents used to go to way back in the day when oak hill was the boonies. Drinks are super cheap and made well. Fun games like pool, shuffle board, darts. They have a little enclosed outside smoking area. People are always friendly, good music, and the bartenders are awesome! Always enjoy chatting with them when I come. Sadly I moved a little out of the area so I do not come to this bar much anymore, but still I consider it my favorite bar!

Bartenders and management are amazing. Love the service and atmosphere. Came in on weds and heard Addam Chavarria play guitar and sing. He is amazing. Not many people make me do a double take. Love his voice and how he plays. Would recommend. Visit Boomerz for the service and great vibes. Also check Addam out if you haven't heard him. You won't be disappointed

Boomerz is the Official Rec Room for Oak Hill and West Creek. Most of the crowd are regulars. People know each other and bounce from crowd to crowd. The patrons with birthdays that month are listed on a bulletin board in the front. Entertainment is the order of the day. They have a first rate sound system (with huge Bose speakers). There is a game room with lots of pool tables, no-prize-just-for-fun-eight-liners, trivia games, arcade games, a first rate competitive darts set-up etc. There is a large Karaoke stage with a good dance floor and decent party lights. And a nice intentionally gloomy dark bar if you are just in the mood to sit and sulk. Drinks are large, served in glass and very reasonably priced. I had no need to order a second drink. I was flying on four wings with what they put in the first drink. The place may be in suburbia but it keeps Sixth Street hours. Show up at 9 pm and the joint is deserted. But people pour into the bar all night. By 11 or 11:30 the place is packed. Like all good bars, the place has colorful characters. It is a fine place to people watch, and take in the house eccentrics. One of them is the karaoke lady, Pat. She is easily in her sixties. She looks like a school marm. She knows the words to every hip hop song, every thrash metal song and every girl pop song on the planet. She also knows the name of some ninety percent of the people in the room. She takes her karaoke seriously and so does the Boomerz crowd.. The minute the karaoke lady opened up shop - there was a line of people waiting to sing. All of them knew their songs. Whether they were good or bad, they were passionate about the material. They laid down their soul on every song. A few of them were very good indeed. The top of the top were really impressive. There were a handful of others who stunk up the house, But everyone was friends here and nobody cared. * * * If you lived in Oak Hill, this place could be as comfortable as an old slipper. Not everyone gets to have a home club that really is home. The people who go here really live here, and that counts for a lot.

After a grueling day of work, I convinced my boss to buy me a drink after. I suggested Boomerz. It was great! The vibe is somewhere between a genuine Austin dive bar and a cozy home-away-from home. Alyssa was tending bar and very friendly. She was able to guess my boss's favorite drink! My boss said it felt like a bar from the movies, and she can't wait to come back for karaoke night. Amazing place that transcends time and space, this is where you meet the real people of the whacky ATX, and let me tell you ... none of this would have been achieved without the sweet Delaney, she will never let you see the bottom of your pint as long as you shouldn't; and SHE is the professional delight making you come back for the exploring and insightful conversations !!!

Boomerz is awesome. Great staff, great drinks, chill environment. 10/10 recommend. They have a ping pong, shuffleboard, and several pool tables. As well as a touch tunes jukebox if you're into that sort of thing. Definitely check it out.

Don't be frightened by the looks of the parking lot. Boomerz is an Oak Hill favorite of mine because everyone is friendly, drinks are affordable, and there are lots of table games to choose from. It's definitely a divey place, but you won't regret going in.

Don't let the looks of the outside scare you off, this is a warm and inviting place. The prices are great, friendly bartenders and patrons. I can't speak on the bad reviews, it was about the patrons being racist well I am mixed with Irish, German Italian and Mexican and I have tan skin dark hair and dark eyes and didn't have a problem getting drinks or service from the bartenders. But my experience here was phenomenal roger the bartender was great, quick and friendly service and I had a 512 IPA and listened to a great singer sing "you outta know" so overall a fun night with my friends.

Thursday nights are karaoke night which is reduced prices on domestic beers. Melissa and Diane take care of everyone quickly and efficiently. They can remember what you ordered last week, last month. And your last order! Very impressive! Definitely a place for regulars but still can flood with a lot of new faces in a flash! Lots of pool tables, and TV always has the games on!

We had a good time on Thursday night. It was my first time. We played ping pong for free and put quarters in for pool. We had gotten there early and then found out karaoke was going to start (every Thursday). We'll have to come back for that! Nice neighborhood bar, quite big and with friendly regulars. After a tragic lesson of trying a bar on Lamar, my girlfriend and I were looking to get some drinks close to midnight. I had seen this place in passing, and decided we should try it. (After all it's a block away from my house..) Your first impression will probably be that the place is a bit run down. It's expansive inside, with many game options, and plenty of bar. While it's not the classiest place I have ever had drinks at, it's probably one of the friendliest. The female bartender was very interactive and kind when she made casual conversation. The male bartender bought me a beer, just for the hell of it, and was very entertaining to speak with. Soon after sitting, a nice fella was buying us shots - again just because... And plenty of people came over just to say hello. They had a jukebox playing, which wasn't bad overall, and it was nice to be able to hear my best gal pal, talk in there. I would definitely come back, again. Also, the beer prices are great!

I can't tell you how many times I've tried starting this review and I just don't know what to write. It's quite an interesting place, to say the least. Drinks are cheap and bartenders are great. The regulars are, well, regulars! And I'm pretty sure they know that you are NOT a regular. Apparently I still suck at ping-pong, but I haven't been to a bar that has a ping-pong table INSIDE in well... ever. I've certainly seen some interesting things here, and things I'm not sure I want to admit on such a public forum--no, really! It is certainly a dive. Stand outside and chat with the smokers a bit, too. If you're in that area, you should stop by. Really. Just so you can say you did.

Will never come here again. Didn't want to serve us because of the color of our skin so he found any reason. As soon as we walked in the establishment we went to the restroom. After coming out of the restroom one of the customers turned to us and said "I'll miss ya when you're gone " not knowing what he meant we continued to take our seat. Only to be stopped by the bartender who stated he won't serve us. Very sad being that we are in 2021 and things like this are still taking place. WOULDNT RECCOMEND.

A place in Oak Hill where you can get your group therapy in peace and quiet. It's dark and depressing, not even in a cool way. Belly up to your deathbed, folks. A good way to make friends at Boomerz is to bring up some hip hop or metal on the jukebox. Try it. I dare ya.

This bar can be disturbing. I've legitimately feared for my safety and/or the safety of my parked vehicle while I've been inside of Boomerz. And yes, the vibe inside is pretty downbeat. I once came here on a Saturday afternoon, after shooting guns at Red's, and I felt like my drinks were garnished with shame. The above being said, it can also be a fun place to play cheap pool.

O come on, the regulars are great! I love this place, you never know what you are gonna get or whos gonna ask you to dance! My friends and I show up exclusively on Thursdays, one of the best karaoke spots in Austin. You get to sing enough for it to be exciting when you get called but not too much as to feel you are running out of songs. I usually get asked/pulled to dance by some special ladies. The different performers are awesome, I cant help but sing along with some of the acts! Man love this palace. O did i mention the catalog of songs is unbelievably huge you never know what your going to find. The only down side is I live on campus and its kind of a pain to get too. Its a little far south but thats its charm, thats why its so awesome. Anyways i'll see you out there next Thursday.

Decent place! Buried in a strip mall, but it can be found. Almost everyone I have met is friendly and I will often be a designated driver as I live close by. Zero hassle about drinking non alcoholic drink. Tip the bar keep or server well. It is a hard job. If you drink, don't drive. Taxi's can save you from the Fuzz.

My idea of a good bar is one that serves whiskey, has Tom Waits on the Jukebox, and scares most people, Boomerz succeeds on all three accounts. The bar staff are very relaxed and friendly. The brinks are fair priced. The patrons all know each others names, and are very welcoming. In all fairness, they are a bit hill-ish, but in a friendly politically incorrect way, not in a banjo, squeal like a pig kind of way. The crowed is in the 40-plus age range, more plus really. Best of all those few unfortunate hipsters that drift in tend to only do so once. They also have Buzztime trivia, and usually a few people playing - they are usually pretty chatty and competitive. Thursdays are Karaoke - if that's your thing. It usually brings in the younger crowed. There is also free pool on certain days. I don't remember when. There isn't any food, besides what they can shove into a microwave, however, they have a Chinese to-go place across the street that will deliver there. That place is a little suspect, but who knows? All in all, it's a place to drink, listen to some music, and relax, for those who like the dive vibe.

Per Nicole S. this place certainly is a dump. I've often called it "Austin's most depressing bar." But then, what competition does it have? Detours? Gimme a break, that place is worse. OK, Boomerz (Diamond's for you old timers) is just a drinking hole. You don't want to spend a lot of time there. However, you may see something that you never saw before. Like an old lady, lit cigarette in her hand, vodka something in front of her, sound asleep at the bar. Her ash growing longer. At four o'clock on a Sunday. Live music is Austin doesn't always have to be good either.

I've been quite a few times over the years...most often when my kids were practicing (hey I'm there for the games) sports in the area and have always had a good time. But last Saturday was really great! They always have a kazi special of $2 but today was something special! The super cool day bartender was making them on the spot! Usually they have some decent premade (in house) in a jug or something, but this gal actually poured the booze and shook em'! NICE!!! Coors is always cold, service always very friendly, yeah its a dive, dark in the bar area, good beer selection, pool tables+darts (well lit area), other patrons always friendly. Wish I could walk home, or less of a drive. FUN!

Boomerz is mostly unchanged from the past 20 years I've known of its existence. It's not a bar worried about trending on Twitter, or seeing how many groupons it can sell. It's a bar with cold drinks, low lighting and people looking to unwind. Said people may be a little rougher around the edges than the average "patrons" you find on Rainey street, but are none the less endearing. My friends and I have had my jukebox privileges revoked in the past on some nights, but sometimes it's nice to have a moderator on the music box that is connected to the internet, probably cheaper than attaching a breathalizer too. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When at Boomerz, enjoy your decently priced drinks and cheap pool.

An interesting place depending on when you visit and your desired experience. The late afternoon crowd consist of locals that enjoy a fair value for a drink - certainly Boomerz best attribute. Karen, the current afternoon bartender, is the real deal. She's warm and quickly learns what you enjoy. Karen is Boomerz largest value. Don't expect an immediate welcome from the locals - they don't welcome outsiders. But time and patience is worthy if you wish to become part of the local crowd, which was not my intention. The evening crowd is much different, this consist of a much younger group looking for a local place to have a drink and enjoy a place to gather. I'm not part of this group and can't offer a legitimate experience.

I stopped by two more evenings at this bar. How many times have you been to a bar where the bartender recognizes you when you walk through the door and says can I get you your usual after just two visits, it was a wonderful experience. I changed my rating to 5 stars because of the excellent service and excellent friendship I received at the bar from both the bartender and the regulars.

This place reminds me of the awesomely bad dance halls back in Louisiana. The awkward dance floor that consists of one or maybe two couples dancing is great for entertainment. The drinks were strong and good. You have to be in the mood for a night out at BOOMerz, but with the right friends, it could be a fun night.

This place isn't anything special kinda like a trucker hillbilly bar ..lol But its not the bar, when ya got good company...right? Made the most of it and had an awesome time! But when we where leaving the bar parking lot was filled with cops and ambulances WOW! OK! wasn't expecting that on departure! Yikes!

Very unwelcomed vibe here. Make sure you fit in with the crowd. Be sure to know the locals, and DO NOT touch the jukebox. Unless you collect votes for genre approval. Detour is closeby with way better service

This is great happy hour bar. Prices are great and the staff is friendly and professional. While my husband plays video golf, my friends and I are kicking ass on the trivia. There's also darts, pool, and ping pong. My husband and I are one of the "early crowd" but I know the late folks enjoy karaoke and live music. Love this place!

First time there and probably my last. Nice enough place. Band was fine, just had the sound cranked up a bit too loud, even by Austin standards. No big deal. Drinks were fine. Only when our small group go to leave, one of our party went to close his tab at the bar. It took at least 10 min for him to get the attention of one of the bartenders (who were not swamped). Our friend is over 6 feet and burly and hard to miss. When he did get attention (after being very patient) and said he wanted to close his tab, the guy turned away from him and started chatting it up with customer at the bar. Finally the other bartender came over and took care of him. For the owner: this was Sat Feb 6 around 12:45am. Bartender was wearing a ball cap. I could imply issue with race since our friend was not white, (I will give him benefit of the doubt), but I am chalking it up to just bad customer service and lack of sense.

I used to pass Boomerz pretty frequently as I had a friend who lived near there. I always thought it was strip club. Then I found out it wasn't. I was curious what kind of people go to Boomerz. I'd never met anyone who'd ever been there. Supposedly the brother of a friend of a friend went there once. That was as close as it got. Then, the other weekend there was absolutely nothing going on in town on a Friday night. EXCEPT Two Hoots and a Holler were playing Boomerz. Me and 2 friends decided we had to go. We got pretty liquored up first, and then made the plunge. The parking lot was totally packed. I had no idea what to expect. AND...it was pretty much exactly like i thought it'd be. The place is laid out that it once used to be a strip club. It seems like it very likely was at some point. The bar is in the middle, just as you walk in. To the right of the door are some tables, and a stage, where Two Hoots was playing. To the left of the bar is a whole other section. I think it might have been elevated. It was pretty packed up at that section. There were pool tables there, and maybe more. Anyway, we grabbed a seat, and mostly sat back, and got more drunk, and enjoyed the scenery and the music. There were several very interesting looking characters in the bar, as I'd hoped there would be. It seemed to definitely be a lot of regulars, assumedly folks that lived close by, and then some college age persons as well. The table in front of us was comprised of 2 couples, guy/girl, guy/girl. Both of the females had fairly long hair, at least down to their shoulders. Both of their guys had hair longer than them...down to their waist almost. It was awesome. And as I was basking in the awesomeness, the waitress came up to take our order. "Hey, i know you somehow" she said. "Yup" i said. "I know you too". "How do i know you?" she said. and i sort of laughed. "Did we hook up once?" she asked "No... you were friends with my ex-girlfriend" i said. And then her eyes lit up. "Oh yes...she and i hooked up in the pool". Yup. Boomerz is the kind of place where magic like that happens. Boomerz was a great experience. A little too big a place for me, but I'll go back at some point I'm sure. Miller High Life is only $2 all day every day. And that suits me just fine. Boomerz makes me wish I lived in Oak Hill again. Too many good times there to count. Cheap drinks. The newer staff members are a bit trendy, but still less than most places.

JFC. I've somehow lived in Austin for ten years and just went to this place recently. That said, I now know why I've never been here. This place is an enigma. It's in Austin yet everyone in here and being in there makes you feel as if you've long left ACL. Decent liquor selection, strange crowd, weird music choices on their godforsaken digital jukebox. Yeah bro, I wanna listen to dubstep and the entire Bone Thugs E 1999 Eternal record. Thanks bro.

Just left Boomerz and I must say I had a great time! They had a great 80's cover band and the bar staff was pretty awesome. I've read reviews about the bartender wearing the ball cap so I was Leary, however he was the nicest guy I've ever met, I would totally recommend this place to anyone of any race, they treat you nice and make you feel welcome. I will definitely be going back there, it's my go to neighborhood bar. And I can't forget to mention the incredibly cute Australian bartender, yet another reason to love this place.

Boomerz is Great. If you just want to have a couple of beers and relax without having to impress anyone, this is the place to do it. Honest folks, good drink prices and LOTS of room to stretch out. You don't have to fight to get up to the bar and get a drink, and you don't have to be packed in shoulder to shoulder with sweaty dudes all night. The beer is cold, the air conditioning works, and the staff is friendly. Great live music too. (I think on Saturday nights?). We saw a band called Bad Marmot play last month and they were a great fit for the place. If you want to pay $10 for a shot and fight for an opening to do it, find another bar.
