In a neighborhood that's changing by the day, Bootleg is a true dive bar in every sense of the word. Even on a slower night, I find it to be one of the better establishments in this part of Bushwick. Adam, the bartender, knows how to make a drink. I personally recommend the whiskey sour.

Google
Honestly an awesome vibe. Pool table was easy to get games on. People playing pool were nice and ready to play and have a conversation. Bartender Adam was friendly and informative about the space and overall atmosphere of the place. Great time, great people. Highly recommend to anyone in area. Also another plus was the size. Tables and benches to sit at plus a cool back patio. Loads of room and quick to get drinks

Super cute Photo Booth and I love the dirty martini from the blonde girl

Google
Great bar with a pool table and back yard patio. The white, bearded bartender that works Tues & Thurs (forgot his name) is an awesome guy.

Google
Adam was such an incredible bartender. We were ripping and roaring and chipping and dipping at new york’s greatest dive bar. Thank you for such a fun and memorable night !!! Will be back next time I’m visiting from Chitown.

I always have a great time here, very cozy chill vibes, pool table in the back, good music(never too loud so you can have a convo) great real film Photo Booth and the blonde bartender (I think her name is Kat)is a sweetheart always makes me laugh and quick service! ❤️

Google
Came to visit friends who were already drinking/using the pool table. Blonde bartender on a Monday said that there was a drink minimum to be inside. I questioned her about it and she insisted. Never experienced that in my life before but she had my friends card behind the counter so I didn't argue. I used to like this place but maybe get new staff that doesn't try to scam people.

Great dive, cute photo booth and very chill. Got a really yummy French 75 from the bartender Kat. Look forward to going back ♥️

Yelp
My favorite bar in Bushwick! Bootleg just off Knickerbocker -- enough that you kind of have to go with a purpose, which is great if, like I was upon my first visit, you're looking for somewhere to have a few drinks and chill without being packed in like sardines on a Friday night. Brianna was a delightful bartender and fun to talk to. She was attentive to her full section rather than finding herself continually drawn back to one side at the expense of the patrons at another, which is something I pay attention to. The drinks were very reasonably priced and the ambiance was good for both solo drinkers and groups. The only thing that raised my eyebrow was the stall door in the women's restroom, as it's short enough that anyone who walks in could look over it. And if someone happens to walk in while you're standing to do up your pants, you're in for some awkward eye contact. Overall, though, I'm a huge fan and I'll definitely be back (regularly)!

Yelp
The blonde girl bartender was EXTREMELY rude, not sure if she had a bad day but it completely ruined my experience here. She very clearly did not want to be there and when I asked for something, she gave a straight up b*tchy response. I made it a point to be very nice asking for this small favor, so it wasn't like i was being rude either. Service sucked, the bartender was too occupied with talking to her friends there, the drinks were not that great, but i loved the games in the back and pool tables which are super fun. Too bad that some staff are just ruining this place for everyone.

Yelp
One of my favorite dive bars such a vibe, good people and drinks. Such a solid place to go when you need a pick me up or just want a drink after a long day.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the espresso martinis!! Great music, even better vibes, and a crowd that gets it. My favorite dive in Brooklyn.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in Bushwick. Cheap drinks, non pretentious space, plays a lot of variety in music, and has pool table. I like the little outside area with a piano in the back too where you can play piano and have a smoke. Good vibes

Anna N.

Yelp
Great date spot. Classic dive, good music. Old school Photo Booth, backyard and jutebox

Francis S.

Yelp
Another hipster trash bar that is not good nor does it actually take care of the community

Nick K.

Yelp
Great bar, awesome setup with the pool table. the music was absolutely terrible, if they played anything else but heavy metal this place would be filled every weekend
google avatar

Fish S.

Yelp
Bartenders think they're cool for playing Radiohead...BORING!!! Only giving it a star because of the photo booth...(if u use it make sure u wait for yr photo to print it takes 10 minutes!!) Anyways very pretentious which is odd since every time I've gone it's been dead...

Yelp
Best place and the best company Mostly everyone is sweet there And you could get in a good pool game as well

Yelp
Stylish, dim, and best of all, with a hint of danger, Bootleg is a hip watering hole masquerading as a dive bar where anyone and everyone can get into some trouble. I absolutely love the beer selection, with a dozen or so unique taps and plenty of cans as well. Really appreciate that they seem to keep it regional as well. Of course, there are some mixed beverages as well if you prefer liquor. The crowd is legit--you don't have the try-hards here (they are hard to escape in this hood), just cool under-40 folks looking to get as obliterated as myself. I spent most of my time on the narrow patio, which I loved. It's surrounded by high walls and graffiti, so it feels exclusive. There are even some small tables out if you're feeling inclined to spend some time one-on-one...not that I'd think this were a prime date spot. The bathrooms are hella weird...it's literally the darkest bathroom I've ever seen in any bar, ever. And I've written about hundreds. There was a suspiciously high number of people standing there, but what you do without supervision (or light) is your business. Overall, this is a quality spot for drinking and socializing alike. Staff are cool (you're a nice guy too, bouncer!), drinks are fairly priced, music is loud, there is adequate seating...everything I could want. Would definitely make this my top spot to have a beer in Brooklyn.

Yelp
This is a bar that you need to be one of those Bushwick cool kids to get attention from one of the grumpy/drunk bartenders. 3 stars because of the pool table.
google avatar

Louise D.

Yelp
This is a pretty chill bar for locals. I went here with a friend and everytime I go we have a great time. There is a pool table. ::::Bathroom Alert::: I hate the bathroom setup. You can lock the door but sometimes someone always bangs on it. Its rather annoying. When you go there you will see what I mean. The prices are not expensive. The people who work there was pretty awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun dive bar,the beer and shot combo is unbeatable at the price. The vibe is pretty laidback and casual, I've had a number of great interactions/conversations with people I've met there all of which have been super friendly adding to the bars appeal.

LJ H.

Yelp
Solid dive bar with a pool table and great music if you like rock n roll, punk and new wave which I do. Definitely my cup tea or glass of whiskey or whatever. Cheers.

Yelp
Took my gf here as recommended by though a friend. Perfect dive bar. I liked the live . Back patio is pretty dope too. Hidden Gem.

Yelp
This bar is a gem, represents the best pre-gentrification Brooklyn has/had to offer. It's charming, with genuine character and friendly bartenders (a rarity for NYC). Any native New Yorker and real human will get a kick and a great beer out of this place. It has great service, good drinks, awesome ambiance and a freaking back yard. Loved it. P.S. I wish I had bumped into that rumored drunk bartender, I'm sure it would have been a blast.
google avatar

Gabriel B.

Yelp
Last time I came here, my friends and I started playing pool without realizing there was a waiting list written on some blackboard so a bunch of metal dudes ganged up on us acting all tough. One after the other, they'd call out to each other in their monosyllabic names so we had to absquatulate with all haste. Still, can't beat the $5 price of a tall boy and shot!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Not a bad place. Your typical dive bar. Decent prices, great music. A little too dark, but it's okay because it gives the place an ambiance that makes you feel like you're a little bit of a badass just for being there. There's a pool table in the back and a few arcade games. The bartender certainly could have been more attentive, but it wasn't the worst service I ever received. All in all, a nice place and I'll likely stop by for a drink or two again to start off a more chill night.

Yelp
Went in here once after I ate 7 meal deals at Popeyes across the street and had to right my wrongs en el baño. Permanently lost my ability to say "th" sounds because the smell of wood lacquer is so strong and it killed 60% of my brain cells. Additionally, that naughty bartender insulted my girl by making fun of her tattoos like he the LORD of TATTOOSHIRE. C'mon man. You wearin jeggings. Plus one star bc the bathroom had solid legroom.
google avatar

Yelp
The Bar itself is 4 stars. Go . But not On Thursdays. I would recommend it to drink alone, meet with friends, or have a night cap with a date. It's beautiful with a pretty chill ambiance. Plenty of seating and a great juke box. the owner as well as the girl bartender are stellar bar company to talk to. Once had a pretty intellectual and controversial conversation about the "gayness" of Queen (the band). But that Asian mfker here with long hair and , of course, the beanie - is a complete asshole and I let him know as much the last time I encountered him. Defensive. Snarky. Rude. Quick to jump to shit you didn't say. My neighbors hate him too. Attempts to belittle you while "laughing" to himself. I'm going to start calling him "Triumph the Insult Comic Dog". Unfortunately, he's not that clever, or funny. He's just a brat trying to be an asshole to patrons until his shift is over where he can hightail it back to williamsburg to his loft apartment that daddy pays for. My review marks the 3rd bad review specifically about him left here. Fire the fucker and lets all be done with it.

Yelp
Had the best time at this local bar, great vibe!! Met the owners he was fantastic, very interesting guy to talk with. I would recommend this bar when you're in town a wonderful local bar.

Yelp
I'm sitting in the backyard smoking a cigarette and drinking a lukewarm beer, surrounded by the warm glow of white Christmas lights amid classic Brooklyn brick and steel walls. Inside, the pool table is in excellent condition, though it costs $1.50, and it has a sign up chalkboard, so there is no fighting over who is next. The cloth runs a little slow, but it's easy to adjust to after one or two shots and the shooting space is not obstructed at all. The jukebox is playing some salt & peppa, and the bar is clean and pleasant. Shining hardwood floors, clean bathroom and nice candle light. I'm surprised to see all the Yelp negativity. One previous commenter said he didn't feel diversity was welcomed. I look pretty white, but I'm shooting pool with a very tattooed Puerto Rican, cheersing with a Black guy at the bar, flirting with an Asian girl, and eavesdropping on some broken Spanish spoken by quite rural looking Mexicans. Needless to say, it seems pretty diverse. As for the service, I haven't waited more than one minute for a drink yet, but there's not that many people in here right now. Maybe it gets worse on weekend late nights. Oh, there's also a change machine so you don't need to wait on the bartender to get quarters for pool or pinball.

Yelp
Randomly walked into Bootleg and was pleasantly surprised. Adam is a badass bartender and had the bone structure of a hairier David. Pickle juice, beer, pool, pin ball I'll be back
google avatar

Yelp
So funny that so many people complained about the male bartenders, completely agree. Not the friendliest bunch, or the kind of bartenders you would actually expect a greeting from. Very dry but not with everyone. But apart from that, Cool bar love the vibe and it has a pool table which is AWESOME-- Like ME why were you so MEANN!? Okay no seriously, There was also a jukebox but apparently they have a DJ?? Wonder what that's like. Might go back, maybe, even though it is my local bar.

Lowell C.

Yelp
Just stumbled upon this place last night and I gotta say, . Most bars in Bushwick are cool but the same thing more or less, this one actually stood out to me. Probably the coolest bar I've been to in Brooklyn so far! They were playing 60s and 70s soul music when I went last night which was awesome, very nice break from the usual punk rock or top 40 stuff that dive bars play. Music was nice and loud, too. Some people don't like that but I think it's great! The drinks were affordable and the bartenders were nice. Crowd seems pretty cool too. I will definitely come back some day!
google avatar

Alxndr K.

Yelp
So, there's a game called pool. And some people at this bar take it way too seriously. Games are meant to be played for fun. Quoting random rules from some other country at each other in angry tones does not make for a fun atmosphere. Seriously.. I've seen people with so much muscle tension win a game and never even smile once after winning, like their lives depended on it. Good for them, but.. maybe try and have some fun for once?
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Solid punk-rockish bar with a little backyardish area. Pool table and sweet pinball machine and Donkey Kong. No complaints here! Side note: I got a little drunk and it took every fiber in my body not to succumb to the naughtily delicious fast food gauntlet that is Myrtle Ave.
google avatar

Giovanny D.

Yelp
"pre gentrification" "good service"... They must be confusing this place for some other bar. Service is slow considering theres still plenty of open bar seats. But there is pinball, pool, a backyard, and reasonably priced booze. Just saying, not a fan but I'll be back for slow yet cheap drink. Not proud of it
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Pretty good cheap drink deals. $5 beer and shot deal is a big plus. But my experience with the bartender - not so much. Telling your customers "just to let you know, I live off tips" when they are paying (not thinking if they are planning to buy more drinks) does not make the best impression. Unfortunately I have to knock down two stars for customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
After a long day of thrifting, I stumbled upon this bar. This place is definitely a gem! The bartender is super chill, and who doesn't enjoy a Sunday happy hour with $4 well drinks?! The bar is friendly and warm (and I mean temperature-wise). Apparently, this place was poppin' the night before as many people forgot their credit cards. Some came in today to pick theirs up. The bartender claimed that 5 people would pick it up today and when the fifth person stopped by, we gave her a standing ovation. She had no idea what was going on. I love it. I love the atmosphere, the "chill-ness," and obviously the price of drinks. I totally recommend this place and will most certainly come back, even if it takes a 40-min walk to get here.
google avatar

Felix M.

Yelp
Great bartenders. Great atmosphere! The perfect music playlist! This is truly one of the best dive bars anywhere. Definitely one of my favorite bars in NY.
google avatar

Natalya G.

Yelp
Adam was the only decent thing about this place. Then he left. Along came some hipster girl who paid no attention to customers. Didn't help that she was wearing a trashy anti-police shirt. I refused to purchase a drink from her. Beer selection was terrible, and I'm the least picky person when it comes to bear because I'll drink pretty much anything. The music was too loud, and terrible on top of that. Didn't stick around too long because I had to go buy Advil for the headache I got there (seriously) and our whole small group left, eventually ending up elsewhere.
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
This is the kind of place where you see lots of okcupid dates between guys with bad knuckle tattoos and girls in big floppy hats.

Josh S.

Yelp
I go to this bar occasionally with a friend and play the board games and whatnot. The barstool side of the house is usually stacked with hipsters, so it's meh. It's a cool spot to slide through during a night of bar crawling, wouldn't spend more than 30 minutes here. Idk, that bar is never lit.
google avatar

Kat G.

Yelp
Went there tonight. Music was obnoxiously loud and the bartender was ridiculous. He dropped the entire cash drawer on the floor. And wasn't too friendly. Also the beer kegs were warm. Warm beers all around. If you have no other place to go, Bootleg Bar will do. But you'd think they'd up their game considering the nicer bars popping up in the area.
google avatar

Jackson S.

Yelp
honestly....shout out to all the staff...super great friendly environment..diff favorite bar in nyc...if i could give 10 stars i would...keep ot up..happy holidays...
google avatar

Peter E.

Yelp
A hipster bar. Period. It is that simple. Not a particularly special hipster bar, just an average hipster bar. If that appeals to you, then great, ignore the two star review. If not, then probably not worth your time.
google avatar

Rubin C.

Yelp
Awesome location. Over the years I have seen Myrtle avenue change for the better and this is another establishment that looks to root down here during the boom. Its nice and low-key while giving off a dive bar feel (thats a good thing). The bartenders kick ass and its not a douchey atmosphere. Cheers to bootleg!
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Thursday night. Great DJ, good drinks and great atmosphere. Place is LEGIT! Backyard patio where you can smoke and drink. Slight hipster vibe and the bartender "Ashley"(?) Is cool. Will definitely come back. Coolest spot in Bushwick for sure.
google avatar

Schuyler B.

Yelp
I actually totally love this place, live two blocks away and watched it pop up along with the other happening spots in the neighborhood. The owner is a nice dude, the selection is totally fine and the staff is fine. BUT the music is ALWAYS obnoxiously loud. So much so that my friends and I constantly leave once the "DJ" pops up because we can't possibly share a conversation, would be great if they just lowered the damn volume.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Their all the time $5 PBR tall boy and Evan Williams shot makes me happy...and drunk.
google avatar

Dorian W.

Yelp
30 seconds in the door and already feel right at home. Great, friendly bartender Sarah takes great care of everyone and is fun to talk to. Pinball and Donkey Kong in the back are an added bonus. Drink prices are more than reasonable, and the bar is very clean. :)
google avatar

Neal D.

Yelp
This place is pretty near me so I decided to get out of the apartment and have a drink after working late at home. They actually have a pretty decent sound system for just a regular bar, subwoofer and everything. The drinks were fairly priced and I liked the cozy, candle-lit atmosphere. I'll be back, Bootleg.
google avatar

Twyla Y.

Yelp
came to Bootleg on Halloween night and was dreading it (I hate Halloween) but was pleasantly surprised. the female bartender was friendly and fast, prices were cheap, patrons were normal, and there was a free rock show. (sound system for the bands was the shits though)
google avatar

Laurel N.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST bar in bushwick. If you're looking for a place to relax with a cheap beer in a comfortable atmosphere, look no further. Music is always on point, bartenders are simply TOP SHELF, and the crowd is great! I'd advise anyone to stop in and see for your self.
google avatar

Harper V.

Yelp
I would say go here the drinks and service are great but then I would just be fucking lying. Giving this even just one star just pains me. But I am required to give it a star so I can post this. This PSA was brought to you by Budweiser™ that was not consumed at bootleg bar because that would require service.
google avatar

Jeremy K.

Yelp
Too loud, bartenders are rude. Very fair drink prices and a nice space, but needs a serious staff overhaul.

Lloyd E.

Yelp
Visited this bar while traveling around the U.S. With another friend from Australia. This bar is one of our highlights. Cool atmosphere cool music, but the bar staff really made it for me. I'm 90% sure I'm remembering the name right, Dustin. Dustin was awesome, chatty, charming and knowledgeable and gave us some killer drinks to try. He made the night one to remembers! Keep killing it dude If I'm ever back in New York bootleg will be my first stop.
