Excellent place to see a show. We went for “The lord of the dance” show - excellent moment and nice experience. Places are Ok, enough space for legs , bars at each floor to ensure you spent well your time until the show starts. Good view of the stage , the only small challenge I see is the row design - very long rows of 80-100 sits with a challenge for people in middle to get out in case of emergency.

Google
I supported someone who was in a wheelchair while attending to see ‘Now that’s what I call Music’. From start to finish staff were helpful guiding us to where we were to be seated. Wheelchair accessible toilet was close by also. If I could recommend one adjustment it would be that the slot for the wheelchair is made flat rather than on a slant. Other than that it was a great accessible venue.

Google
Nice venue lovely staff. The shows I've seen on in there are world class. I've seen Les Mis, Fiddler on the Roof, The Loin King, and now Hamilton. Always a good experience and worth it. Seats aren't as comfy as they could be though. Easy to get to too

Siobhan Cassley

Google
Lovely venue. We were sitting in the circle and had a great view of the whole stage. Seats were comfortable and plenty of room for you legs without your knees up against the seat in front. We parked in Great Canal Street Q park which is literally beside the teathre so was well worth the price.

Google
Brilliant as always. Row V seats 20 and 21 were brilliant for the views and close to the exit. Attaching pic of the view

Google
Beautiful theater. Hamilton was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. All bathrooms were very clean. Great views of the stage even though we were half way back on the 3rd floor. What is odd is that they served alcoholic drinks before the show and during intermission but you can't take them to your seat. Therefore during the intermission you have 15 minutes (or less) to drink your beverage - which is quite annoying when you've just paid 12.50 for their speciality themed cocktail. Seems odd to not be able to bring alcohol into the theater - that's not a rule I've seen at venues on Broadway or West End so it's just odd.

Google
Been waiting over a year to get here to see this but well worth the wait. Excellent venue and Hamilton didn't disappoint. The West End Cast have a lot to aspire to when compared to the Broadway ensemble featured in the Disney TV/Movie but overall they stood up to the task and delivered an unmissable performance.

Google
Show was amazing. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Travelling with an elderly friend using a stick, with limited mobility. The staff could not have done enough for her. Love my experiences at the Bord Gais Theatre.

Yelp
I found this venue to be clean and easy to access. Inside there are main stairs and sets on each side. I love this. It prevents a bottleneck of people thru a main stairway which is usually the case in older venues. We sat all they way up high. 4 tickets. Took our kids to Aladdin. No problems at all with hearing the actors or seeing them. The bathrooms were completely clean. The drinks were reasonably priced. Drink are not allowed into the searing area. Only outside before the play begins or at intermission.

Yelp
Beautiful theater. Great place to check out if coming from out of town and looking for theater. They present big shows here. We happened to catch Angela's Ashes, the musical. Had a wonderful evening. It's a bit sways from downtown Dublin, so you'll have to drive here. Buses won't be operating by the time you get out.

Yelp
I love this venue. I've been here for stage shows like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and I've been here for several gigs. It seats around 2000 people yet it feels intimate. The seats are comfortable with enough leg room. The acoustics are great and live music sounds great here. There is a bar in the lobby and they don't allow you to bring drink into the venue itself. This is a good thing in my opinion. There's nothing worse than having to get up off your seat during a show to let a steady flow of people go to the bar. Personally I'd like to be able to get a burger or hot dog but they sell food like this. The venue is easy to get to and there is enough street parking. It's close enough to the city to walk to but there are always plenty of taxis outside after the show if required Over-all a great little venue

Yelp
Superb theatre and wonderful building both outside and in. Saw the fabulous War Horse here and the auditorium was delightful with comfortable seating, great sound and clear view of the stage. I found service at the bars quick, efficient and pleasant. I attended War Horse with a Wine Club and all of us, a party of 30 people, enjoyed both wine and show. We all thought Bord Gais Energy Theatre to be extremely well maintained and managed. I hope to return soon to view another show and would very highly recommend this theatre.

Yelp
Amazing seats everywhere! Clean and tidy! Pleasant staff! Amazing shows! What more could you want? This place is awesome for shows I've been here to see Dirty Dancing, Sister Act & The Bodyguard. All where amazing and the venue is a really worth giving a visit. Il be back for the new Elvis musical coming soon!

Yelp
I finally made it inside the fabulous, Bord Gais! This fortress is a stunning piece of architecture inside and out. After being impressed by this building from where it sits along the Grand Canal Docks, I was thrilled to see Wicked there! I am a huge fan of cultural arts performances and am glad Dublin has a few quality theatres to enjoy the arts at. The Energy Theatre is modern, chic, and breathing life into the Docklands! The show was amazing * highly recommended * and there was not a bad seat in the house. I could see and hear everything perfectly; and felt comfortable the entire time. Excellent acoustics, sound, lighting, presentation, customer service, and comfortable seating, and traffic control! The refreshment stand includes adult beverages, too!

Yelp
Ah, The Grand Canal Theatre. Disappointingly renamed because of sponsorship. Which is a shame, The Grand Canal Theatre had such a good ring to it. I was here for a performance of Carousel, which was just smashing. Name aside, it is a wonderful venue. So stylish inside and out. The staff at the bar were nice and friendly. The seats comfortable. The facilities clean. If there's a show or gig on here that interests you, don't hesitate. It's a great experience. Highly recommended.

Gigi L.

Yelp
I love this theater as there is no bad seat in the house. I especially love the plush red seats. And, if you're a guest of someone very important, you may be invited for wonderfully tasty eats and champagne in the private Circle Club room. I highly recommend it! On a downside, if you're attending a 'West End' production, you'll also tune in to slurping of sodas, rustling of wrappers, and chomping of potato chips while the show is in progress. That is a big downer if you've just spent top dollar on say, "The Lion King" or some other fabulous production like that. We want to hear Mufassa, Rafiki and Simba, not tiny fingers grabbing and little mouths munching on popcorn! Not to mention the big unsightly mess it leaves in this beautiful auditorium. But, aside from that, the location is awesome and the nearby Marker Hotel offers a really great pre-theater meal as well as the rooftop bar for pre- and post-theater drinks. I do think it is a gem. But, let's revisit the eating during a musical. This isn't a movie theater. (At minimum, allow adults to bring in a cocktail if little ones are allowed to eat snacks...!) Let's all randomly break out in song folks!

Yelp
Last night was my first time in here. We went to Darren Brown. The show itself was very good but I love the venue itself. When we were entering, it seemed to run smoothly and when we were leaving it also seemed to run smoothly. Seats are nice, we were in the middle. I find some venues 2 hot, this place isn't a sweat box. Defo would go to shows here from now on.

Gavin S.

Yelp
Was here for my first event the other day! An absolutely amazing theatre. The seating is great, the sound travels great and access to and from the theatre is short and quick even with everyone leaving. The one thing I found very distracting was towards the end of the show (An evening with Col. Chris Hadfield) he played his version of Space Oddity some people took out there phones to record it which I guess you weren't aloud do but what was seriously distracting were the theatre staff members flashing and waving their torches like lunatics trying to get the attention of the people recording with there phones! Stop doing that guys. It's stupid and annoying for everyone.

Sabrina J.

Yelp
I love love love this theatre....did i mention i love it!! This theatre has brought some high quality, Broadway and west-end productions to our beautiful fair city! I have been to plenty of shows here ranging from kids shows to cabaret, sitting up the front and in the roof rafter! the views are amazing no matter where you sit and sound is certainly not distorted either. I'm just back from The Lion King and it was one amazing show that i would highly recommend to all!!

Joyce K.

Yelp
Saw Billy Elliott here a few weeks ago w a friend and it was fab. The theatre itself is really well laid out and the staff are are super friendly. There is a bar that is more reasonably than I expected but beware you are lot allowed to bring drinks inside the theatre. And the interval is not that long

Paul H.

Yelp
Impressive architecture, good acoustics and every seat has a good view of the stage. The show we saw (Warhorse) was great, too. Why then only 2 stars? Well, we had to ask for directions to find our seats, as the signage was very unclear. For a tall person like me (2m), the seat was uncomfortable because my knees were touching the seat in front of me. During intermission, we quickly made our way up to the bar to get a drink. There weren't many customers in front of us, but each order took literally several minutes to complete, so by the time we finally got our wine, it was time to return to our seats and we had to guzzle down the wine. All in all, it was a rather unrelaxing experience, instead of a great night out.

Yelp
I came here with my mom to see Billy Elliot. The play itself was pretty boring and long, but the theatre was very nice inside with a lot of seats. We were at row E on floor 4 so it was a bit hard to see properly as we were looking downwards, so it would have been great if there was a camera/ TV screen for people up at the very top/ back. However, the sound and speakers were loud enough and perfect for everyone to hear, and the seating was very comfortable. Everything started and finished on time, they served drinks and food during the interval but no alcohol was allowed inside but food apparently was, so you would have to guzzle your drink down in 20 mins. However, the service was efficient and the ushers were helpful as well. The tickets were 45 EUR each was ok in terms of price for a 3 hour show, and the location of the theatre at Grand Canal dock make for a great view from the windows and upper floors. I didn't know buying a play pamphlet costs 5 EUR though. The only disappointment was the play itself, but hopefully I can come again when something interesting comes along.

Yelp
We just saw the commitments! A treat of a performance. The theatre is beautifully designed and very easy to navigate. Sound and lighting were excellent. The seats were comfortable with just enough leg room for it to not be an issue. A world class stage.

Orla L.

Yelp
This is such a fabulous theatre. I have been to so many amazing productions such as the lion king, sister act, Calander girls, and the body guard. With such artistry I'm kinda meh about paying 180 quid for Broadway shows this weekend in New York when I can get the same amazing seats and performance in Dublin for 75. The seats are very comfortable and the staff are nice. Obviously expensive drinks but your not going to have 10. It's in a great area with loads of restaurants around and taxis after the show. Can't wait for the next experience.

Sara C.

Yelp
Oh BGET, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.... Positives first. It's gorgeous building that fits perfectly into the redeveloped docklands. The theatre itself is magnificent and extremely well designed. I've sat in the stands, the lower circle and the upper circle and I've found that at no point is your view obscured or does the sound suffer. The bars are well stocked, though there's no Guinness only Murphys, which is a minor annoyance. The taxi ranks outside are fantastic, you walk out the door straight into one! Overall it is a wonderful theatre. However I can't get over the following points.... The Bord Gais Energy Theatre? Are you kidding me? When I heard of the rebranding originally I thought it was a joke (it was Marty Whelan in the mornings on LyricFM and sometimes he does let on) but no, gone is The Grand Canal Theatre, so aptly named! Second, Tayto? Really? You're selling massive bags of Tayto at the Theatre? Have ye thought that through AT ALL? The noise is one thing, the cheesey, oniony smell quite another. Finally, and this is on a more personal note, maybe children under 12 shouldn't be allowed in to the evening shows? Or adult only options should be offered, like in some cinemas. I'm in no way anti-child but I can't help but think that trying to get an under 12 to sit quietly through the more dramatic, and maybe less action-filled, parts of a play or musical is asking quite a lot! They get bored, they want to pee and they ask loud questions. I always enjoy my trips here, but can't help but think some improvements could be made.

Yelp
Fabulous addition to the cultural scene in Dublin, the Energy Theatre is a fantastic venue that fuses modernity with old school glitz. I always love the walk up to it from Grand Canal Dock - the water glistening in the background, the shiny new buildings on either side, surrounded by swanky roof top hotels and new eateries. There's always a little hint of red carpet on the entrance, and the ticketeers (yes I just made that up) are massively welcoming and respectful upon your arrival. Inside, it's set out in the same fashion as any theatre has been for the last hundred years, but without the barriers of sight. No matter what seat you have in here, you are guaranteed to be able to see perfectly. The decor is all straight-edged chrome and plush red velvet - a new twist on the classic and ornate gold / red theatre theme. My only complaint is that you can't bring any alcohol into the show with you. Surely one glass of wine wouldn't hurt...;-) As a side note - I went to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert last night. What a great show! Really clever and creative costuming with a simple but innovative set design. Great sing-along songs, non-cringeworthy audience participation elements, and, the piece de resistance, wait for it... Jason. Donavon. Swoon!

Yelp
They deserve a star off just for the renaming of this theatre from the far more aesthetically pleasing Grand Canal Theatre to BGET, but I digress..... My first musical since my school days was highly enjoyable, I went to see Phantom of the Opera with my wife during the 2012 run in the BGET (July). It was an excellent show, with incredible production values and we both came away very impressed by the theatre in general and the show in particular. Overall, we will certainly be back - it was a highly enjoyable evening. My wife is already looking forward to seeing Chicago when it plays later in the year. One other thing, I will say that the food on offer is limited - just chocolate, crisps and popcorn - similar to cinema fare, so eat beforehand or be prepared to be ravenous by the time your leave. There are a couple of options nearby which stay open late when there is a show on, so you do have options both before and after, plus a couple of nice bars - Milanos (pzza/pasta), Ely Gastro Pub, Herb Street, Cafe H, Crystal Boat. They also allow you to order your intermission beverage before the show starts to minimize delays, which is a very good option. The limited food and relatively high price are the real reason for the drop of a star here. Saying that though, I will be back again for the next show that catches my eye, definitely worthy of a 4 star review.

Peter B.

Yelp
Saw the Musical "Wicked" last night it was a great. Our seats were far at the very back and we couldn't see everything properly. Thank God we found some empty seats at the front just before the second half and enjoyed every minute of it afterwards. Moral of the story is that you should always book front seats not to be disappointed.

Mindaugas S.

Yelp
I've been only in few theatres in Dublin and outside it, so can compare a little bit. Five stars is correct evaluation. Doubt it? You have trust issues then :) Just kidding. A bit more serious. Can't thing of anything bad about Grand Canal Theatre, oh, wait, it's been renamed to Bord Gáis Energy theatre. What an ugly name for such a beautiful building. I'm not repeating what every other review said about how everything is placed and located inside, just stating, that this is one of the best theatres in Dublin and beyond it. Buy tickets for your chosen performance and go, just go! Wouldn't say the same about Gaiety theatre, just to clarify. Everything is spectacular here. Oh, one minus perhaps. Car park under the theatre is not cheap - €3 per hour. Beer costs €6 a pint. Tiger, Heineken and Murphy's. No cider.

Lynn A.

Yelp
It's taken me years to get to a show there but finally, I've managed to go to a show in the Bórd Gáis Energy Theatre. It was smaller than I expected, but to be honest I completely loved it. As a tall person with a tall Fiancé I can safely say he greatly appreciated the leg room! Not something that's common in the older theatres around Dublin - which by the way they get very defensive about should you mention it in a review! The one thing I didn't like was the limited seating area for pre-show drinks. I ended up sitting on a windowsill seat that had a big no high-heels sign on it (even though I had high heels on) because there was just nowhere else to sit. & we were there relatively early too! All in all though a great day & a lovely experience.

Sean G.

Yelp
This was my first time to the BGE Theatre and I was pleasantly surprised. Comfortable seats that are well spaced, The overall feeling I think is intimate but that is probably because I was for 4 rows from the stage however overall the layout is excellent. We parked in the Q_Park which is right next door and a short walk via some stairs. Book the Q-Park space in advance so you are guarnteed a spot.

Linda M.

Yelp
Everytime I'm down around this area I marvel at out much it has come on over the years. Such a cool vibe about the place. I like to think this theatre and not Google is really at the heart of the area. Lovely, bright airy theatre. I don't think there is a bad seat in this place. Sound is fabulous. Would recommend going to see any production in this theatre just to visit the theatre itself!

Wesley W.

Yelp
This is a brilliant theatre. It has an amazing design and is very easy to get to with ample parking. It looks astonishing inside and out. The location is also perfect as in the square behind the theatre there are many pubs, bars, restaurants, and shops to visit so you can make a night of it. You also can pop over for a sneaky pint during intermission as well and be back in plenty of time. Like everyone else here, I must admit the new name is silly and I always call it Grand Canal Theatre.

Phil D.

Yelp
This will ALWAYS be the Grand Canal Theatre. Absolutely fantastic venue. So comfortable & modern, over 2000 seats & each one has an unobstructed view of the stage. Only ever seen shows here, they also do events & bands etc, but for shows it's fantastic. Car Park is underneath & a little difficult to get to, but worth finding out about for convenience.

David R.

Yelp
My first visit to this theatre took place in September. My favourite singer (Norah Jones) had a live performance over there. A very memorable night, to say the least! It is a beautiful place, indeed. It's contemporary look and comfortable feel surely will attract me back when there's a 'reason' enough (I don't suppose Norah's coming back any time soon? :)) I am not a big fan of eating and drinking in theatres so I cannot confirm if the selection was good enough or not. The seating is very well done. Even seats higher up and further away from the stage are great to take and I didn't notice any of the seats being obstructed by pillars or anything else, compared to some other theatres I've been to so far. You can easily see everything, even though Norah did seem to be a tiny spot when listening to her from the upper circle... Staff was very professional and helpful, they even assisted people who came late with a small torch (a flash light for my American friends :)) so that they don't lose their footing. All that said, it was a very pleasant experience. One that I'd definitely care to repeat should I get the chance!

Yelp
I just saw Phantom of the Opera here and last time I saw a show as spectacular as that was in Los Vegas, delighted to see this quality of theatre in Ireland, it will surely improve our tourist industry.

Catherine S.

Yelp
Love this theatre. I've been to it around 5 times now. Most of the time I was seated in the circle and the view and sound were amazing but I have also sat in the upper circle which is pretty good too.

Emily S.

Yelp
The theatre is well designed, clean and relaxing. The ushers are very professional and friendly. They could do with a few more ladies toilets because I spent the whole of the intermission queuing. You can see the stage from any seat, you may want to stay away from the seats at the top if you are scared of heights because they are quite steep

Jennie C.

Yelp
Came here for TEDx - it's a beautiful theater. My only problem with it is that it's a bit echo-y so you'd have to really concentrate on the speakers. We sat on the 4th floor front row and could see just fine (but not expressions).

Sam S.

Yelp
Fabulous theatre in the heart of Dublin. Love going here as they always have quality productions on and it is easy to get to.

SJ C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed a production here recently. Clean, effectively managed and well run. Friendly helpful staff who offered us better seats ( as the show was not a sell out). Phew, its great to see an organisation get things right.
