Yelp
It's been a few years since my initial review, so I thought it would be a good time to update.
The positives of Borgata:
They have a massive # of rooms, especially if you include the Borgata Tower and the recently-refreshed MGM tower. The website is easy to reserve, and the valet and check-in experiences are well-run. I've never had a major issue with any room in either tower. No issues with the parking garage.
The pools. Each casino has indoor and outdoor pools that are all well kept. The Borgata outdoor pool is large, opens early and is adults only. Just be warned, from time to time, the unwelcome (and biting) greenhead flies make an appearance.
The food selection is vast. Coffee shops, food to go, food court, buffet, medium to upscale restaurants. It may take a while to figure out what you like as I've tried places that didn't work for me, but there certainly are choices for all styles of dining. Pretty much all the places take your reward points.
The casino is large, lively, and usually pretty busy. There are bars on the perimeter of the casino, once again, you have to see what suits you. The casino is also seasonally updated with art and displays.
The negatives:
Smoke! The smoking and non-smoking sections of the casino simply flow into each other, and it's a mostly smoky experience. The more crowded it is, the smokier it gets. Please invest in a better ventilation system.
MGM Rewards: The rewards desk area is way too small. If you forget your card, be prepared to wait. Check-in is supposed to be able to print cards as well, but they often say their system is not working. I've also had glitchy cards and had trouble with comp purchases and exiting the parking.
Cocktail service in the casino is very hit and miss. For those that indulge, you may want to consider just getting one to go from the main casino bar.
