Beautifully kept castle, a great adventure. Off season we almost had it to ourselves. Dogs are no problem, which is an absolute bonus.

Nice old castle to visit is good for kids and family. There is great view and things to explore in the ruins of the castle. Kids had a game to find picture of dragon eggs in the castle and win a prize. There was art gallery and some planned activities that one can find out in the websites. Entry and parking is not free. Estimated time spent is about 1 and half hours. No food it allowed in side.

Really beautiful place with great views. My daughter loved chasing eggs around the castle. Park close to the castle when it’s off season, it’s easier and cheaper since it’s for free.

it's a really cool castle to look at. then there was the leanora trail to walk, can say that the lactic acid got going in the legs and you felt like a really old man 🙃

A lovely old castle with an interesting history, and you can visit it with your dog as well. It's well worth a short stop (1-1,5 hours). There is free parking for passenger cars, RVs must pay if they stay overnight. Great views of Borgholm and Öland!

The castle ruins are beautiful and the view is gorgeous from the second story. You have to walk carefully since the ground is uneven. You can bring your dog as long as you keep it on a leash. I was unlucky and visited the day after they'd ended their guided tours for the summer. Luckily they have an app where you can download a guided tour, listening to short snippets by different numbers in the castle. This is where I have to give fewer stars because there's a discrepancy between where the numbers are placed in real life and on the map in the app, making it very hard to find some of the spots. And they're supposed to be marked by red flags but not all of the numbers are. Eventually, after running around trying to find the numbers, I gave up. It's still worth a visit if you enjoy old castle ruins and are in the neighborhood. If you like me prefer to have a guide I recommend you go here during high season when there are actual guided tours. Oh, also. The toilets outside of the entry cost 10 sek to visit. (I have strong opinions about that.) If you are planning to go inside the ruins, hold it in and use the free toilets inside instead.

My visit to Borgholm castle was truly unique in the purest sense ever. I was all alone and as such had the joy of exploring every corner and crevasse of this vast castle all in my own sweet time. And if ever there was a castle to explore! Impressive restoration and preservation made it possible to go everywhere you'd wish. See if you can find the naturally made markings on the wall: slaughtered pig hanging, hen with one foot and the infamous dog eating a sausage. They had made some fun gimmicks to take selfies on which I couldn't resist. In every sense of the word an unique experience
