Check in was good. Helpful receptionist (Abigail I think). |Room was pleasant but terrible WiFi. No USB points which is inexcusable today. A/c was very old and ineffective. |Restaurant- evening meal was not great despite high expectations looking at the menu. Staff were cold (and at one point unfriendly). |Breakfast was very poor. The most basic offering we had on our 3 week road trip in Italy. No excuse for lack of fresh food in a “farm” in Umbria. |The “honesty bar” needs a complete re- think. It’s all very basic. |We felt that whoever owns it has lost interest and has no passion for it. It could be so lovely but we left underwhelmed and disappointed. Not sure how it’s included in the Mr&Mrs Smith listings. |On check out if the staff had asked me how I will stay was I would have told them. They didn’t ask, they clearly don’t care.

We loved this place. The rooms are spotless. The grounds are beautiful. There are plenty of places to eat in the area but the house restaurant is fabulous so don’t hesitate to stay for dinner right there. We loved the pool. AC very string an no issues. The very best part of staying here was the service. They will bend over backwards to assist you in any way possible. We were directed to an Amazing chef for a private cooking lesson. I’ve recommended this place to my friends and this is s no-brainer. If I head back to the region I will re-book here

We stayed at Borgo Della Marmotta for four nights, and overall, it was a pleasant and peaceful experience. The hotel is set in a beautiful old borgo, surrounded by rolling Umbrian hills and olive groves—it really is a stunning location. The buildings themselves have a lot of charm and character, with that classic countryside feel that’s hard to beat. That said, it’s fair to say that the place is a bit rough around the edges. Some parts feel a little worn out and could use a refresh, especially considering the price point. It’s not a luxury experience, but it does have a relaxed, rustic atmosphere that’s easy to settle into if you’re not expecting polish. The on-site restaurant was a highlight. The food was genuinely good and reasonably priced, with a menu that offered enough variety without trying too hard. We ate there more than once during our stay and were happy each time. Breakfast was decent but repetitive. It didn’t change at all during our four days, which made it feel a bit dull by the end. The biggest letdown was the coffee—it was from capsules, which felt out of place in a region where great coffee is everywhere. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic place to stay and don’t mind a bit of wear and tear, Borgo Della Marmotta offers a charming spot to unwind. Just go in with the right expectations and you’ll likely enjoy your stay.

This is a wonderful hotel that I stayed at while hiking the St Francis Way. The reception was accommodating and hospitable. The room was specious and comfortable .The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was excellent .I enjoyed the pool, the spa where I had a great massage and the general ambience of the resort.

I am surprised to see so many mediocre reviews for this charming property. My friend and I visited in April, outside of the busy season, and had a great experience. We booked a 2 bedroom suite that had two large bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a spacious living room and was excellent value. The hotel’s restaurant was very busy, despite being off season. The food was great and most people were locals. Breakfast was also very good. The grounds and public rooms were charming, with many places to relax. Cannot comment on the pool as it was not open yet. This is not a fancy five star place but very authentic and typically Italian. We loved it.

Spectacular surroundings (rosemary and wisteria grows everywhere!) and a gracious, warm staff combined to create a supremely restful experience for us. Luana was wonderful checking us in and out. The on-site restaurant serves delicious Umbrian specialities and wine—not to be missed. Highly recommended.

This country hotel is true to its 3-star rating, offering no-frills accommodations with decent rooms. It primarily caters to hikers on the pilgrimage route from Spoleto to Assisi, lacking charm and coziness. The major drawback was the poor quality of the dinner, which seemed to be an afterthought for one-night guests. Breakfast was adequate. The surroundings are less picturesque compared to areas like Bevagna or Montefalco. Overall, not the best value for the price paid.

We booked 4 nights at the end of a 10 days in Umbria. The other two places where we stayed were excellent and we hoped the Borgo would also be a good choice. Sadly, it didn't live up to expectations.||Despite the emphasis on it being a "home from home", the owners - who were only in evidence our first day - didn't seem to be "hands on" and their staff [with the exception of the ladies at breakfast] appeared to have little interest in looking after guests. This may have been because it was the end of a busy summer but we left feeling distinctly underwhelmed. In addition:||1. Our "superior" room [7-6] which bore no resemblance to any of the website photographs/descriptions. It was small and so dark that we had to turn the lights on in the middle of the day. The double bed was two singles pushed together, there was nowhere to sit and the bathroom needed a complete re-vamp. As the room is close to a busy lane, there was a lot of traffic noise and we could also hear the guests next door and below us. Small touches like providing bottles of water and umbrellas would have been nice and the absence of mosquito netting on the window was surprising.|2. The restaurant. We had dinner on our first and last evenings. On the second occasion, three of the main courses on the a la carte menu were unavailable so the choice was very limited. Service lacked attention to detail - this included being shown to a table for two with only one chair and left to find another one ourselves! We had much better food and service eating out in Spoleto and Montefalco.|3. Outside "events" and how these impact guests. On the Sunday there was a large lunch in the garden close to the swimming pool. Guests were given no warning of this and it was only apparent from the preparations which began during breakfast and continued all morning. Once the party started, the noise and numerous small children coming to play round the pool made it impossible for guests to use the area. When we mentioned this to reception, the response was that they hadn't expected so many people! However, as one of the staff said there are often "events" at weekends, the Borgo needs to think about how these affect guests - particularly as it claims to offer a peaceful and relaxing environment.||Based on our recent experience, we are unlikely to stay there again.
