We stayed at Borgo Della Marmotta for four nights, and overall, it was a pleasant and peaceful experience. The hotel is set in a beautiful old borgo, surrounded by rolling Umbrian hills and olive groves—it really is a stunning location. The buildings themselves have a lot of charm and character, with that classic countryside feel that’s hard to beat.
That said, it’s fair to say that the place is a bit rough around the edges. Some parts feel a little worn out and could use a refresh, especially considering the price point. It’s not a luxury experience, but it does have a relaxed, rustic atmosphere that’s easy to settle into if you’re not expecting polish.
The on-site restaurant was a highlight. The food was genuinely good and reasonably priced, with a menu that offered enough variety without trying too hard. We ate there more than once during our stay and were happy each time.
Breakfast was decent but repetitive. It didn’t change at all during our four days, which made it feel a bit dull by the end. The biggest letdown was the coffee—it was from capsules, which felt out of place in a region where great coffee is everywhere.
If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic place to stay and don’t mind a bit of wear and tear, Borgo Della Marmotta offers a charming spot to unwind. Just go in with the right expectations and you’ll likely enjoy your stay.
