Nice place and beautiful views. Family of 4 with two teenagers. Booked here last minute as we changed our plans to leave beach early and come to the volcano. The steam house wasn’t working which was a bummer but thermal pools and mud was fun. The nature walk was pretty and fun to see boiling volcano steam pots. Breakfast is included and was good. Dinner was my least favorite meals on our trip and service at restaurant left lots to be desired. But overall cool spot to stop for a night.

While the location and the lodge itself are undeniably beautiful, surrounded by nature, wildlife, and hot springs - the overall experience was significantly impacted by a lack of strong management and organisation. There was an immediate sense of mistrust when we were asked to pay a $200 deposit despite having already paid nearly $1,000 for our stay. Additionally, all meals had to be paid for on the spot, and if we didn’t have a credit card with us, we were asked to return to our rooms to retrieve one, which felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The swimming pool area is lovely, but there is no shade or umbrellas available, despite multiple guests requesting them. This made it uncomfortable to fully enjoy the space, especially during peak sun hours. Unfortunately, the food quality was very poor, and the staff often appeared lost and unsupported, which again points to a lack of clear leadership rather than individual effort. Overall, this was one of the weakest service experiences we’ve had. That said, we chose to focus on the extraordinary natural surroundings, which did make our stay pleasant in spite of the shortcomings. We are sharing this feedback in the hope that the owner or management team takes it seriously. This is a truly special place that deserves to be well protected and properly run. While guests come for the nature, when paying premium prices, a basic standard of service is also expected.

Borinquen Resort in Rincón de la Vieja is a 5-star gem! This private, exclusive retreat is nestled in nature, offering: Immaculate facilities, including hot springs, pools, mud bath, a stable, lookout to volcano fumarola, elegant dining and adventure activities: zip lining, horseback riding (huge shoutout to guide Ronald!), hiking The service is top-notch including the internal shuttle service , making for a truly special stay. Villas were spacious and very comfortable. One thing to note, the road in is rough, so plan ahead - avoid driving after dark and opt for an SUV if possible.

This place is beautiful and peaceful. You are in a cottage on a hillside in the clouds. There's plenty to do, including hot springs and mud baths, ziplines, trail rides, hiking, birdwatching. If you're hungry there a very good restaurant, if you need a break, there is a pool. ||The grounds are well maintained. This being forest, trimming and pruning is almost constant. You are somewhat captive here as there is nothing else anywhere close to here. There's a shop at reception but it has very little. Pack everything you need with you.||The beds are comfortable and the rooms are kept very clean. We had AC but we never used it. ||We spent a week here and did not get bored. We're bird watchers and there are plenty of birds to see on the property, just by walking around. There are animals too including 3 species of monkey, coatis, capybaras, lizards, geckos. There are snakes, but we didn't see any.||Two things you should be aware of: 1. The property is spread out and hilly. We got a lot of hill training in! If that's not your gig, the resort has shuttles to take you around. 2. There are a lot of insects around. Bring bug spray and use it. If you want additional protection wear long pants and long sleeves when you're out and when you sit on the patio.||2 things we wish the property provided: More trails we could walk without a guide. And a feeding station for the birds. You will have to keep an eye on the Magpie-Jays. They do like to take food off your table at breakfast!

We loved our stay here, the private bungalows and property were really nice and there were tons of animals just roaming around. We also loved the mud bath, natural sauna and thermal springs with actual volcanic water. The included breakfast is nice too. Dinner at the restaurant was okay but I recommend driving a bit further to El Mirador for a view with dinner

My stay at Buringuen Resort in Costa Rica was nothing short of magical. The natural beauty surrounding the resort is breathtaking – a true five-star setting. What made it even better was the incredibly warm and professional staff. Everyone went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. The sauna was a fantastic way to relax after a day of exploring. I can't wait to return! Highly recommend!

Awesome resort. Perfect location to enjoy horseback riding, zip lining, natural hot springs, toucans, etc... Enjoyed our view from the units at the top of the resort. Particularly the beautiful sunsets each evening!

A beautiful place for a relaxing getaway. The grounds, pool, mud bath and thermal pools are delightful. You wake up to the howls of howler monkeys, which seem to be on a 5a.m schedule (!). Also, was lucky enough to see a spider monkey, an ant eater, and of course, iguanas abound. Naughty coatis sort out the trash and blue magpies steal the sugar. I had a wonderful massage at the spa, and a fabulous horseback ride to the waterfalls.|On the downside, i didn’t enjoy the food or the wine at the restaurant, which was mega expensive, and really not good. They have the monopoly, and there is no where else to eat or drink. But , although the service was good, i really felt I was being ripped off. Unfortunately.|Still, it’s a very nice place for families and groups. Don’t recommend it for people traveling solo.
