Borinquen Resort in Rincón de la Vieja is a 5-star gem! This private, exclusive retreat is nestled in nature, offering: Immaculate facilities, including hot springs, pools, mud bath, a stable, lookout to volcano fumarola, elegant dining and adventure activities: zip lining, horseback riding (huge shoutout to guide Ronald!), hiking The service is top-notch including the internal shuttle service , making for a truly special stay. Villas were spacious and very comfortable. One thing to note, the road in is rough, so plan ahead - avoid driving after dark and opt for an SUV if possible.

My stay at Buringuen Resort in Costa Rica was nothing short of magical. The natural beauty surrounding the resort is breathtaking – a true five-star setting. What made it even better was the incredibly warm and professional staff. Everyone went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. The sauna was a fantastic way to relax after a day of exploring. I can't wait to return! Highly recommend!

Overall we haven’t had a bad experience at all, but the bungalows require a renovation and the restaurant needs urgently to be revised (the service is a catastrophe)! First the bungalows are kind of ok regarding the interior, but all seem to be very old, everything sticks instead of working smooth and so on. Water pressure in the shower is definitely very good, but the windows are kinda leaky when it’s windy or rainy. The AC is working, but at moderate outside temperatures it seems already to be overstrained. Mattresses are fine for me. The pool and the hot springs as well as the mud bath could be revised as well. The worst in my eyes is the restaurant! It’s not only the food which isn’t tasty… portions are too small, the service is horrible! Honestly… the service gives you at first the illusion of being in a haute cuisine, but when you sit down and 3 waitresses are asking you what you want do drink and eat… the illusion bubble pops all of a sudden. The meals itself aren’t worse, but in my eyes doesn’t fit the local cuisine (which is really good), but tries to serve a continental menu. Pasta and Tenderloin on one menu can’t be good in my eyes. The portions are really small, so you have to order another meal or take the full meal incl. starter and dessert… and again, you‘re not really done with plate, the first waitress askes if he/she can remove the plates - why so in a hurry? For breakfast you don’t get a fruit plate (which is usually very common even in the smallest hotels overall in Costa Rica)… which is absolutely not comprehensible - the fruits are growing literally on their front door 🤷🏻‍♂️ and they are cheap! Besides this, I‘d like to mention that this hotel isn’t really wheelchair friendly as the rooms are reachable about steep ramps which you can hardly walk!

Borinquen Thermal Resort||Guided by our travel host, Discover Corps, my grandchild, my daughter and I spent two days enjoying our stay at the Borinquen Thermal Resort. We had spent the earlier part of the week volunteering with CREMA and Turtle Trax, non-governmental organizations that maintain a group of sea turtle sanctuaries, including the one we work with in the Playa San Miguel area. ||Our hosts at Borinquen were gracious, friendly, and helpful. The accommodations – we had two cottages – were outstanding. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms were nicely laid out, and the scenery was simply beautiful. Birdsong filled the air throughout the day and night, and wildlife was abundant, all around us. Although we did not partake, the Resort offered to arrange hiking, zip lining, bird watching, and visits to waterfalls. It also offered five-star rated meals and had a full service bar attached to its inside and outside dining areas. ||My thanks to Discover Corps for including the Borinquen Thermal Resort on the itinerary for our week-long visit to Costa Rica. It was a splendid experience for the three of us.

Remote and beautifully landscape, but the path up isn't as bad as the previous years make it out to be - perhaps it's been fixed. Excellent service from everyone from the front desk to the entire dinging staff, top notch. Special mention to Emmanul, wonderful in vibe and service.

Beautiful, amazing, wonderful, awsome...... how many words there are to describe this place. In the mountains, miles from anywhere, an oasis of tranquility and luxury to experience the wonders of nature. Our accommodation was first class, set amongst trees full of monkeys and toucans. Great food, great service. We stayed for 2 nights as part of our Riviera Tours but would have loved a 3rd night here too.

What a beautiful experience my family had here. The grounds were beautifully maintained and there was so much to do. The rooms/cabins were beautiful and the AC works great! Traveling with our twin 5 yo Horseback riding and a hike in the Volcanic Forest were the highlights of our stay. Just sitting on your porch was like being in heaven watching the birds and monkeys. The mud bath (watch out it stains bathing suits) thermal pools and swimming pools were beautiful. The staff and management were all so gracious and nice. We missed our first night due to our flight and they let us reschedule our stay at the end of our CR vacation, class act! The food at the restaurant was delicious and huge portions! I wouldn’t want to travel the roads at dark driving up the volcano to the resort. I would definitely come back to Costa Rica just to stay here again. Thank you staff at Borinquen for making our stay so memorable!

Started our honeymoon here at Borinquen. Very beautiful place. We enjoyed the thermal pools, watching all the different birds & listening to the howler monkeys. The drive up was rough but doable with patience. We chose to stay on grounds till we left due to the roads & everything being so far away. We used the shuttle to get from room to thermal pools & restaurant. Food was very good. All the staff was very friendly & attentive. We stayed Sept 7th-10th 2025. It was very quiet as very few people were there.
