4 levels of excellent curation of Sarawak history and artifacts. There are interactive displays to keep children and young-at-heart entertain. Spent a good 90mins exploring each floor. A well thought duration to show the history of Sawarak - the past and present.

The Sarawak Cultural Museum in Kuching is an absolute gem for anyone eager to explore the rich heritage of Borneo, blending modern architecture with timeless traditions in a way that feels both immersive and inspiring. Inside, you’ll find an incredible collection of indigenous artifacts, tribal costumes, and historical relics that tell the story of Sarawak’s diverse communities, alongside contemporary galleries that showcase art and interactive exhibits for a fresh perspective on culture. The museum’s sleek design and thoughtfully curated spaces make it not only a hub for learning but also a visual treat for photography enthusiasts. Whether you’re a history buff, a culture lover, or simply curious about the roots of Sarawak, this museum offers a world-class experience that deserves at least a few hours of your time. Spacious and very interactive, your kids will love it. Parking senang, drop off pun ada.

A must visit museum if you want to learn about Sarawak cultures but be aware that this museum has collections of authentic artifacts from the head hunting era which you will find interesting, eerie, spooky or fascinating. This is an interactive museum where you can learn a lot of cultures and history of Sarawak. A good museum for kids too.

The largest museum in Malaysia and 2nd largest in SEA?! Deserves it! They really make use of the title and decided to create a really interactive and engaging experience. The display of artifacts are informative. The best interactive part was the legend of the two princess, which y'all have to visit for yourself. For students remember to bring your student card, even online card is accepted and sure won't regret coming here. Also if you're a museum goer like me, I'd suggest to spend the whole day here, since they open bcs there's lots other museums around it. Definitely a must visit! Like arts and culture?! Sign me up! Love how well they have documented the beauty of borneo cultures.

Excellent Cultural and Historical Resource This museum is absolutely worth visiting for anyone interested in Sarawak’s rich heritage. The exhibits provide a comprehensive look at the diverse tribes of Sarawak, offering genuine insight into their cultures, traditions, and ways of life. The historical section is equally impressive, clearly documenting the formation of Sarawak and its development over time. What stands out is the quality of curation, the collections are thoughtfully arranged and well-presented, making it easy to follow the narrative and absorb the information. It is also very interactive and suitable for children. Whether you’re a visitor wanting to understand the region or a local exploring your own heritage, this museum delivers an educational and engaging experience.

Very beautiful and informative place to visit. They have a large range of artefacts from different groups of Borneo. Lots of interactive exhibits and interesting sections, people of all ages can enjoy it. You can easily spend 3+ hours in there. Even the building itself is beautiful!!

I bought my ticket at the counter and only had to wait about 5–10 minutes. Ticket price for foreigners was 50 MYR. The museum is spread over 5 floors and is truly impressive — very modern, new, and well maintained. There’s a lot of fascinating information throughout, with many information boards in both English and Malay. The first floor is very interactive and great for children, but it’s fun for adults too. The exhibitions feature beautiful objects with plenty of background information, and each floor offers a different exhibition related to the history of Sarawak. The air conditioning is quite strong, so it gets cold inside — I recommend bringing a sweater if you plan to stay longer. Anyone interested in history and culture could easily spend 3–5 hours here; I stayed for about 2–3 hours myself. Overall, a fantastic museum experience — educational, well organized, and highly recommended!

This is a world class museum unlike other gov run museum in Malaysia. The price is affordable for the Sarawakians and also non Sarawakians (Malaysian). Just try to avoid visiting during school holiday as you would probably clash with the schools visit and it could get quite crowded with students and queues for tickets. They have this online ticket but you need to have the Sarawak ID account. The museum is large and try to allocate at least 2 hours for the visit.
