This is a world class museum, spacious, nicely laid out, cool within, great text signs (in Malay and English) accompanying the displays, which themselves are arranged in interesting topics. A couple of significant areas were not accessible during my visit, hence just 4 stars, but in every other respect this place gets top marks. Great to see such an investment in preserving and promoting the cultural wealth of Borneo.

I haven't been to any museum for a long time. In my impression, museum has a few cultural relics only and the introduction and interpretation of them are insufficient. However, the Borneo Cultures Museum really aroused my curiosity about Borneo’s culture and history! The museum has a total of five floors. The first floor is lobby, restaurant and gift shop. The second floor is the children's playing area while the third to fifth floors are the exhibition halls. I'm from West Malaysia, so the ticket is RM20. The exhibition hall on each floor has a specific theme, and the arrangement of cultural relics in the exhibition hall is very neat. I suggest that you'd better follow the indicator to enter the hall, because the introduction order of cultural relics has been arranged, so that everyone can easily understand the history following timeline in the theme of the exhibition hall. Before I went, I thought I would stay there for two hours only. As a result, I stayed for almost three to four hours. In a word, it is a great experience, and the tickets are not too expensive. I really recommend everyone to visit Borneo Cultures Museum!

This museum houses the history of Borneo in weddings, wars, struggles, and changes. Three air conditioned floors of artifacts, photographs, film, and display show the real people. Try to see the Museum before visiting the area to get a complete context and a 3 D look at history

The Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching is undoubtedly the best modern design museum in Malaysia. While museums are often perceived as boring, stepping inside this museum is a delightful surprise with its modern and professional appearance. The exhibits, primarily focused on Sarawak, are thoughtfully organized into distinct sections. The galleries are mainly situated on the 3rd to 5th floors, each floor divided into two sections with a central foyer offering great city views. The museum features modern interactive media, such as a digital tattoo booth that is both informative and fun. Visitors can also enjoy colorful hanging art displays. This museum sets the gold standard for museums in Malaysia and is a must-visit in Kuching for anyone, including children, to learn about Sarawak’s history.

Immerse yourself in a cultural tour of Sarawak, Kuching by visiting the Borneo Cultures Museum. The entry fee is 50 RM for foreigners and 25 RM for students, with foreign university student cards being recognised. You will learn about the history of the local communities, how archaeologists discovered the exhibits, and the artifacts that reflect skilled craftsmanship. It easily takes about 2 to 3 hours to thoroughly read the information about the exhibits and watch all the videos on display. Overall, it is a great place to take cover during a hot sunny afternoon. Enjoy the air conditioning and learn something about the country, the people, the history, and the culture.

Excellent high quality museum. Unique architecture with impeccable internal finishes. Very modern, great air conditioning and very helpful staff. Being a westerner I found this place very educational as it described the history of Sarawak and the greater island of Borneo in great detail. Top marks well done.

The museum is great. It develops on three levels and it took me about 3h to see everything. You can use your sense (smelling agarwood, touching tools, listening to people's stories) and your body (lifting the pages of a virtual book with your arm or walking on an interactive floor) to learn. Arrangement is clear and well organised, it's a pleasure moving through the discovery of a new world. The only thing that upset me is that exposed items do not have a date (most likely it said when they have been found but not when they have been made)

Definitely a must visit for museum geek! Sarawak has a very long history and rich of culture diversity. The museum may not capture everything, but for someone that's clueless or at least we Malaysian that already forgot what we learn during Sejarah subject at school, we can do some revision here. But for the kids area, many items are not working or lag. The concept is cool and interactive, but due to poor maintenance, visitors may not be able to engage actively. Other general facilities are alright, the staffs also very friendly and welcoming. Maybe will revisit in the next 5 years?
