BorneoTip Beach Lodge

Rooms very basic but hot water showers, air con and jug avail for boiling water. Beds and pillows… let’s just say I’m glad I had my own blow up pillows and sleep sheet. Bathroom facilities are basic with no hooks in the bathroom (or actually, anywhere in the entire chalet), nowhere for toilet roll holder and nowhere to place dry clothing. Had to lift the bathroom door up and in to get it to close and the front door only partially opened due to sticking. It’s very run down but perfect location across the road from the beach and a skip away from the tip of Borneo. There is a swimming pool out the front but empty and not maintained. Drive in to our accommodation was thru a mud sludge and parking was on the grass directly outside the chalet. Sadly the tranquility of the morning was broken by extremely bad, extremely loud 2 staff singing Karaoke. I mean, really?? Such a peaceful spot that only needs nature’s music not this earsore! Lovely location but kinda disappointing.

This chalet is located at the Tips of Borneo (5 minutes to Tips of Borneo and adjacent to Tommy's Place). From the outside it look a bit old but the room was tidy, clean and basic (no TV, I knew before booking). I'm glad there was no TV, very quiet, relax and peaceful. Room equipped with shower, water heater, breakfast but no WiFi. The food in the restaurant is good and the price is very reasonable. We had a dinner there and the butter prawn is very delicious and fresh. All rooms facing the beach. The sunset can be seen from the room. In the morning the beach is very beautiful with white sands and clear sky (depend on weather). I should have stayed there at least 2 nights.

Everything in the area is so worn down. This also applies to this hotel. Sheets were clean, but the rooms are moldy and filled with insects. You can't open the windows because there's no mosquito net so it gets very humid inside. The aircon worked. Basic cleaning is not practised. We don't understand why the plastic along the beach isn't removed. The beach is so wonderful and water is amazing. The area could attract more tourists if maintained.

Anywhere along Simpang Mengayau is a great place to stay tbh. The seas are clear, the water is shallow and clear, the sands soft and white. The hotel itself is relatively old, the ac was not very cold and there are water damage on the walls. There are a few dining options nearby at Tommy’s or the small cafe behind the hotel. For the price it’s cheaper compared to its neighbors, hopefully they do refurbishments to the room in the future to make it feel more comfortable.

Let's start off with the location. The view was very nice, literally on the sea side; the breeze was nice; and it was 2 minutes distance away from The Tip of Borneo. The service was decent. The booking was done in one call, and the price per night was worth it. As for the room, it was also decent; two queen size bed. Overall 5/5.

Terrible place to stay. Freakin pricey and the place is not maintenance at all. The corridors also super dirty never coming back again! 🤢🤮

No major complaints with the room. AC worked and beds were comfy. Good location with close access to a nice beach with amazing crystal clear water. 5 minutes drive from the Tip of Borneo monument and view. Don't leave any food lying about or even in the bins or the ubiquitous mangy curs will get into it.

Although it looks nice from a distance once you get inside you start to realise it is very basic and definitely budget accommodation, and we don't mind budget.||||However the location is great. The beach just across the road is amazing and the sea is very refreshing when you have been sat in the sun. Beware of Jellyfish, they do get washed into the bay at certain times of the year. There is very little shade and no sunbeds unless you head down towards the village and there is virtually no one else on the beach. We spent 3 nights and days here and we felt like it was all ours.||||You are a short walk from the Tip of Borneo, which is a must do on least at 4 different occasions. ||1. During the day when you get there. ||2. Sunset. ||3. Somewhere close to midnight to enjoy the night sky ||4. Sunrise.||||We tried to contact them by email on a lot of occasions to book a room and they did not respond on a single occasion. The reason for this became apparent when we saw the amount of rooms booked out to Chinese tourists and that everything was geared towards them and their needs. We felt the full brunt of this whenever we used the restaurant and the lack of service and attention we received. Luckily Tommy's place is right next door and there are plenty of other eateries within easy reach.||||Overall with a bit of updating the rooms could be better and they do have a pool that never had any water in, but it is a budget stay with a great location.
