Yelp
Boru Noodle Bar is currently the only ramen option in Newport (as of May 2018). Since most of brunch restaurants closed early on Sunday, I let my friend pick a place to eat and Boru Noodle Bar was his choice (the 4-star Yelp review with 200+ reviews and his desire to try ramen restaurants outside of California were probably the main reasons why he picked this spot). Menu is very simple - only two ramen options with broth (house ramen or spicy miso ramen), two ramen options without broth (sesame chicken ramen or summer harissa ramen), tuna poke, Thai beef salad, and 6 different appetizers.

Spicy Miso Ramen (pork, corn, bean sprouts - $13): Noodle was surprisingly decent. The bowl had minced pork instead of pork belly and it had good amount of vegetables like corn and bean sprouts. Broth tasted slightly mushy and flavor profile was a bit off, but at least spiciness was a-okay. (3/5)
Steamed Pork Buns (hoisin, pickles, radish - $7): A must order - excellent pork belly with hoisin sauce that REALLY hit the spot. These pork buns tasted even better than many other pork buns that I have tried in LA (e.g. Baos Hog in Garden Grove, CA). (5/5)

Overall the spicy miso ramen isn't exactly up to Los Angeles ramen standards, but those steamed pork buns are truly hidden gems and service was pretty good.
