Food is great I’d say better than any around here it’s a cute building and it’s got a nice staff prices are minimum. I mean I got no complaints I think Gordon Ramsey couldn’t do better. And the chefs pretty cool

Got a bunch of long hair with my noodle. Service was below average. We ordered vegetarian and non-vegetarian togos and they didn't name the orders so we had no idea which one was which. 4 strands of hair was yukkk.

Had lunch here but I'm positively coming back for dinner on my next trip to Newport. Food was awesome, service was very good and it has an authentic Japanese Noodle Bar vibe.

Google
The best noodle bowl restaurant in R.I. according to my “expert” opinion 😉 Not fancy but low key, & delicious with plenty to take home! Waitress “Ireland” was very busy up front but made sure to check in on us! Definitely worth the visit if you are ever in Newport,R.I.

Google
Had an excellent lunch at Boru Noodle Bar. Started with a Pork Belly bun which was great. I had the House Ramen - very tasty - and my wife had Black Garlic Beef Ramen. Service was great and the location on lively Broadway can't be beat. I will come back.

Perfect meal on a cold rainy day. Crispy Brussel sprouts is so pleasing to my taste buds. The black garlic ramen had a strong after taste but I love it, anyhow. Was really a good experience! Must try when in Newport, RI!

Google
I ate here last year and ordered the spicy seafood ramen, top 5 ramen l've had. My husband and I were visiting again and decided to eat lunch here. The spicy seafood isn't on the menu anymore, sad day. We decided to get the pork belly buns for an appetizer with the spicy chicken miso ramen and lobster and corn ramen. The highlight was the pork buns. So delicious, I wish I didn't have to share lol. Their ramen has fell off the top 5 list for me though. The spicy chicken miso was ground chicken- which is fine I just prefer chicken thighs or breast sliced. The spices were great in it though- not too much or too little. Good amount of toppings! I would order that one again over the lobster and corn. The lobster and corn was least 5 enjoyable honestly. The amount of lobster was alright but the broth didn't have a flavor, pretty bland in my opinion. I consider ramen to be more of a comfort food and I feel like this was a take on more of a light, refreshing ramen fusion, if that makes sense? I was not a fan. The server was pleasant. They blasted rap unedited the whole time, kind of annoying. Restaurant was clean, more seating than before, which was nice. Pretty meh overall

Yelp
Tastes good. Broth is Perfect for cold winter season. But not enough. So you have to order another bowl of extra broth. Especially if you add up extra toppings like mine(with kimchi, egg, mushroom and the side calamari). The calamari is very tasty. Love it. Excited to visit and order more. Btw they have some unique ramen flavor aside from miso like the tika masala ramen. Definitely going back to try it.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service not great. This was a little hidden gem. I had the fried chicken buns and they were delish. Ordered fries and they were definitely frozen skinny fries. Waitresses was very busy so I got up and went over to ask for salt (none on tables), for the unseasoned fries. She asked the chef/cook like it was the first time anyone asked for salt. He made a small bowl with his hands and didn't look happy with me. I was super polite but maybe he was insulted? Come on salt on fries is kind of a necessity. The Ramen was very good. In the future I'll get it to go, but I will be back.

Robert L.

Yelp
I had a Pork Belly Bao Bun, spicy miso ramen with a soft boiled egg and sampled my friends ice cream and everything was amazing. The miso broth was thick, flavorful, just the right amount of spicy and the dish had many of the best ramen ingredients. Will be back again!!!!!!!

Yelp
Read the reviews. Came with some friends. They heard about this place too. Super friendly service. Our party of 12 got seated in the back room where a bar could be available. This place is TASTY! Ramen was so good. I had the spicy miso ramen. Everyone enjoyed their food. Super chill ambience with hip hop music, eclectic artwork, and a spicy menu.

Euni B.

Yelp
Cute ramen and small bites spot downtown area. Limited seating inside and parking can be scarce. Ramen was good but I want to praise the pork buns more than the ramen. No picture because I gobbled em right up! 2 per serving but I would've at 6! The waitress wasn't very friendly from beginning to end.

Shannon M.

Yelp
I don't really have good things to say, but also nothing too bad?? The flavors in everything we ate were really off except for the tater tots, which were surprisingly decent. The house ramen was way too smoky, and the miso was too sweet and thick. The Korean chicken didn't taste Korean at all, but I can see what they were going for. The service however was good, and the restaurant is quite small

Frank R.

Yelp
Boru never disappoints. Always fresh to order always good. Since they first opened they have stayed good and maybe even gotten better over time.

Brendan P.

Yelp
Super simple noodle bar. Small (ish) menu but what they do have on tap is excellent. Pork buns and house ramen were great. I read a few of the reviews ahead of time like I always do and most of the complaints were regarding the wait staff. That doesn't sway me as much as it does other people. I'm in it for the food so give me cordial and fairly attentive staff and that's fine. Fun place, zero frills, just good bowls of ramen. Fun sake and Japanese beer selection too.

Joe K.

Yelp
Food was delicious we ordered the house ramen and the crispy Brussel sprouts and we LOVED IT. The customer service was great and our waitress was lovely and kind We sat outside and we enjoyed our time there We will come again Highly recommend

Yelp
Visiting Newport, Rhode Island with friends we ended up at this Ramen noodle bar. We came here, because two of us are vegetarian. When we entered the restaurant, it seemed very small. There's a counter and some tables and the preparation of the food has a small open kitchen. However, if you walk down the long hallway, there's a bar and more tables. I ordered the mushroom sweet potato buns and they were delicious. I've never had buns before because I've never seen a vegetarian option. I don't know where the mushrooms were. They might be in the little sweet potato patty. But it had lots of flavor and spiciness. I also had the coconut curry Ramen. It wasn't sure about this, but it was very delicious. My friend had this as well and she liked it. My other friend had the pork buns and the spicy miso Ramen. She liked both of those a lot. We were all very happy with our mealand I would recommend trying it out. The bartender wasn't there when we went so they couldn't make the drink specials. However, there is a cute little bar in the back. Counter.

Josie S.

Yelp
My go to for ramen on the island. The ramen is top notch and full of flavor without being too heavy. Super cute ambiance inside and the servers are always kind! My only complaint is they can be super slow. Especially for take out orders. I have ordered from here multiple times and I don't think it's ever been ready by the time I arrive. So maybe give them the exact amount of time that they say until it's ready and double it...then you should be spot on!

Joe G.

Yelp
This small little hole in the wall is a fun place to go with friends and enjoy a fusion of what feels like different cultures. Since it's so small the servers are quick and attentive. The food was good. We ordered the wings, spicy pickles, pork bao buns and house ramen. The wings were delicious and crispy yet overly salty. The spicy pickles were a good break up from that and the pork buns were sweet and absolutely the best thing. The house ramen was flat, not salty not overly flavorful but enjoyable to slurp up with a semi runny egg.

Vijay S.

Yelp
Good spot for Ramen in Newport. Came here for lunch on a weekday. Not many tables inside. Got the pork buns and spicy miso ramen. The pork buns were pretty good. Liked the ramen as well, though I felt something was missing in the broth, either the depth or flavor. I did like that they used ground pork and corn strips. Overall good experience and reasonable prices.

Larry C.

Yelp
Everything was so good!! Heirloom tomato salad Spicy peanut salad Brussels sprouts Pork belly, Fenway sausage, and chicken buns Tuna poke Lobster, chicken, and veggie bowls Orange/ginger sangria All delicious and great service!! Great d

Yelp
The Yelp reviews said, "go eat the pork buns" so we did! Stopped into Boru while doing a little bar hopping around Broadway. It was a quiet early afternoon during Folk fest and we took a chance on going downtown while most people were at the festival. The inside was empty and the service was very prompt. The pork buns definitely hit the spot. They were flavorful and cooked well. The sake that we ordered was room temperature and would've been better had it been served chilled. It was strong and we liked it, but would've requested it get cooled down a bit more first. (No, it was not a hot sake, and yes it just came in the bottle.) There was an eccentric patron inside that was harassing the hostess. Her kitchen crew was saving her, but it was a little uncomfortable at times. I'd recommend sitting outside on their sidewalk patio in the future!

Devon W.

Yelp
The food was delicious so much flavor the service was great and the restaurant was in a very convenient location to shops in the area. The menu provided something for everyone in my party including the vegetarians in the group.

Ga Hing C.

Yelp
After many heavy fried meals, we wanted to eat something comforting. Saw the great reviews this place had and decided to give it a try. We ordered the szechuan calamari to not forget we were in RI, the house ramen and the spicy beef dan dan noodles. The spicy beef dan dan noodles felt a bit too oily and I wasn't a fan of the beef pieces. Besides that, everything else was delicious.

James M.

Yelp
The food at this unpretentious noodle bar is very good. The ramen were extremely tasty using a soy based broth and the poké was a great combination of spicy tuna, avocado, sushi rice, pickled daikon radish and cucumber. Have I forgotten something? It was all made better by sitting outdoors on a perfect fall day. The interior was not especially inviting.

Kristin H.

Yelp
Always enjoy their food cart at the farmers market! Great tater tots and peanut noodles

Yelp
Best Boa Buns I've ever had!! I've driven 2 hours both ways just because of their buns

Ozzie B.

Yelp
Great vibe, relaxed staff and amazing food. Please move or franchise this place to Burlington VT! Ramen was unreal, great flavors on everything we ordered. This place is a sleeper, we passed it because no one was there but returned because other kitchens were closed. they stayed open late for us.

Heather M.

Yelp
Some of the best food I have ever had.the Brussels sprout dish is so good, we drive an hour to eat it.

Kim I.

Yelp
Wow! This menu is slight but there's a good reason- what they make is kick ass and you don't need a hundred different ways to be impressed!

mercedes n.

Yelp
Brunch on Sundays is amazing. What unique combinations of traditional brunch infused with Boru's Asian cuisine. I had the Sweet Potato Arugula Benedict and it was absolutely amazing. My husband had the chicken fennel sausage frittata with poached eggs added. Cooked to perfection.

Yelp
It's kind of funny to see how my reviews for Boru have increased in star ratings from "A-OK" to "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I've spent years in search of my "thing" from Boru, aka the dish that has me coming back for seconds and thirds and puts this restaurant on the map as a reliable lunch and dinner option when out and about in Newport. Folks, I think I may have just found it last night after dining here on the eve that Boru premiered their Summer 2019 menu. That wonderful entree came in the form of the BEST Tuna Poke Bowl I've ever consumed in my life! And I am a self-professed sushi nerd! Imagine tender and expertly butchered sushi grade tuna atop seasoned brown sushi rice (which definitely scored healthy points with me!) and topped with rice wine vinegar pickled veggies, bean sprouts, and scallions and then drizzled with a flavorful spicy Japanese mayo sauce.. and all that heavenly goodness can be yours for just $16! Compared to the prices of the so-so ramen, that's totally worth it to me. The portion size is generous and the fish is fresh and amazing. This is definitely the best thing I've eaten here, and maybe one of the top contenders for Favorite Meal in Newport: 2019! An additional mark of high praise from my boyfriend, who was impressed with the Chili Glazed Chicken Wings small plate that yielded a generous portion of crisp and juicy wings doused in a soy-chili-fish sauce dressing. For $7, it was enough for a light meal, and you could easily double up and have a wing feast for less that 20 bucks. Pretty great if you ask me! Our server Nadia was awesome, and that just added to the experience of our great meal out last night! I'm so happy with the way that Boru has progressed through the years, and we are already looking forward to coming back again and again this summer!

Yelp
Woa! This place was SO good. Came to Newport for a class and this spot came highly recommended by everyone. I had the seafood ramen and was really blown away. Great service, great food, and a cool outdoor seating area in the cutest area.

Joseph S.

Yelp
First there are not many noodle/ramen spots in southern RI to compare with. However, this place could compete in PVD or NYC. Their soups are always swell, hearty, and more than enough for one. Even their "spicy" is not overwhelming. And if you are in the takeout mode (as many of us are), their fare is ideal for a warm up in the microwave at home. Soups are $12 - $15. Add the pork buns or Brussel sprouts. A winner!

Chadwick D.

Yelp
It's always a delicious. Best and possibly only ramen place in Newport. It's great and decently priced. Would recommend!

Kris D.

Yelp
I had the traditional noodle bowl and it was amazing! I can't wait to go back. Plus the guys in there were so nice! Friendly whole in the wall vibe

Kevin C.

Yelp
We were at Binge BBQ nearby for lunch and passed by this noodle shop. Reviews were decent enough for us to try for dinner. My son got the house ramen while I got the spicy miso ramen. Both ramen was good but I wouldn't give it 4 stars. I had only wished they separated the noodle as by the time I ate it 15 mins later, it was a tad soggy to say the least. The flavor was there for sure and the ingredients were plenty, it was just the soggy noodle that got to us. My wife got the tuna poke which she liked a lot and we both enjoyed the crispy Brussels. Now that was stellar. I would give this place a 3 stars for today. This place is not authentic Japanese, but I would say they are very clean especially during Covid times.

renje g.

Yelp
**** COVID review**** - Everything was solid * Solid fried chicken * Solid buns - Service could use some work - great brussels sprouts - calamari was in between solid and great

S A.

Yelp
I had a great experience at this restaurant. My partner and I went by late afternoon for a quick bite to eat. They had a great selection of ramen that was priced fairly. We ordered one to share and they split the order for us without our asking--we greatly appreciated their going beyond expectations. They really didn't have to since we don't mind sharing a single bowl, but they were so thoughtful. If you want a warm bowl of goodness in a chill atmosphere, I highly recommend checking this place out!

Guiliana V.

Yelp
My husband and I LOVE Ramen BUT This was the worst Ramen we've ever experianced. The wings were good , not Amazing or delicious , just good. 'll give them that. The service was bad , and sometimes that is bearable if the food makes up for it . But nah peeps . This Ramen was basically soy sauce with water . How they've stayed in business is Beyond me . 0/10 . Basil Chicken WingsHouse Ramen

Kelly B.

Yelp
Excellent ramen. Owner is the chef and he is very personable I recommend the spicy seafood.

Joslyn F.

Yelp
I just wanted to thank Amie, her recommendations were perfect! also to thank her for taking extra time to be kind :)! good food great service!

Tony J.

Yelp
This was my first time here with my family of 3 without a reservation. My son recommended this place. We were seated immediately in the rear. This place is BYO, therefore, we only drank water. Our bad for not bringing something to drink. We shared and enjoyed their calamari appetizer for $10. I also enjoyed their New England seafood ramen special for $18, which I requested to be spicy. It was tasty. Their regular spicy miso ramen is $14. My son and his wife both enjoyed their spicy miso ramen as usual. My total bill was only $61 less gratuities. The manager served our table. I will continue to return here for some more good spicy ramen of either variety. This place is very affordable for good casual ramen. I will BYO, next time I visit.

Ciara C.

Yelp
great buns. kimchi was delish but not a lot of cabbage in the pickle. pork buns were not served with a plate so i just ate them off a napkin. service was great but she kind of half hazardly put my dish on the table and a couple of toppings flew off. ambiance was great! super loud kids next to us though

Sam B.

Yelp
Hold on because you're about to read about the most comically horrific dinner experience of my life. I think the waiter maybe was just high AF and I'm willing to give the place another chance because food was decent BUT some highlights include: --sat us at a table filled with dirty dishes and never came back. We went up to the front to ask for some waters at least and perhaps to have someone clear the table --eventually were brought 3 waters for 7 people, table remained stacked with dishes --after asking again, dishes were cleared but more waters never came --someone else went up to the front after another 15min to ask if we can please order food --waiter doesn't write down anything for 7 people's orders which may be impressive but then he tried to repeat it back and only got a few of them correct. We even offered to write down the orders for him --eventually waiter starts bringing out dishes to the 3 parties present in the dining area, but he just starts going around to the tables and asking "did you order this?" and "is this yours" --finally brings a few of our dishes and spills ramen down my back soaking my sweater and doesn't appear to realize, nor apologizes when pointed out. The now partially filled ramen bowl is then delivered to one of the people at my table --several dishes just never appear but most of us receive food and just share --waiter then manages to spill chili oil onto someone's wallet/keys on the table --oh also, did not remember the waters or who ordered what beer and just plopped a 6 pack of beer still in the package on the table Anyway, it was an eventful memorable evening for all the wrong reason. But the food that we received was decent!. Willing to attempt again and just pray we get a different waiter.

Yum Y.

Yelp
We were traipsing in Newport, RI and just happen tp come across about Noodle Bar. The hostess/Server was pleasant and engaging. She was prompt in. Taking abs delivering our food, even refilling our drinks. The food definitely is on point! I love the American-Japanese fusion. The prices were reasonable. The amount of food was just right. Not too small not too much. We'd definitely be back! Thank you for an awesome experience!

AJ C.

Yelp
The place is in a weird spot from where we were walking. We came up behind the place and had to figure out how to come around to the other side. It wasn't difficult, BUT it was cold so that could be part of it. We got a bowl of ramen each. The root vegetable ramen was fantastic. The place smells of brussells sprouts which is a bonus if you're into that. My wife got a chicken soup ramen. The noodles and veggies were all perfect, but if you're going to eat with chopsticks, the vegetables should have been cut in strips instead of cubes. Imagine eating a ton of tiny cubes of veggies with chopsticks? Wasn't great. The other part that wasn't great is the lack of broth. When I think of ramen, I think of great broth. The broth was great, but it was lacking in quantity. I'd gladly give up some fillings for some more broth.

Salina T.

Yelp
My guest and I were searching for Vegan spots in Newport, and this Noodle Bar was suggested for us via a local Newport resident. I had went on a brisk cold day and due to COVUD 19 there were limited dine in options. Boru Noodle Bar had a cute little space in Downtown Newport. I'd suggest Downtown Newport for any visitor looking for tasty food. I've grown up eating traditional noodles as a child, but it is hard to find meatless and vegetarian options for noodles without comprising taste. We shared a dish of tots (of course) which were perfectly crisp and the added seaweed flakes was a nice touch. My guest opted for pho noodles with veggies and I did the house noodles. I finished the whole bowl...

Luke L.

Yelp
Boru Noodle Bar is currently the only ramen option in Newport (as of May 2018). Since most of brunch restaurants closed early on Sunday, I let my friend pick a place to eat and Boru Noodle Bar was his choice (the 4-star Yelp review with 200+ reviews and his desire to try ramen restaurants outside of California were probably the main reasons why he picked this spot). Menu is very simple - only two ramen options with broth (house ramen or spicy miso ramen), two ramen options without broth (sesame chicken ramen or summer harissa ramen), tuna poke, Thai beef salad, and 6 different appetizers. *** Spicy Miso Ramen (pork, corn, bean sprouts - $13): Noodle was surprisingly decent. The bowl had minced pork instead of pork belly and it had good amount of vegetables like corn and bean sprouts. Broth tasted slightly mushy and flavor profile was a bit off, but at least spiciness was a-okay. (3/5) Steamed Pork Buns (hoisin, pickles, radish - $7): A must order - excellent pork belly with hoisin sauce that REALLY hit the spot. These pork buns tasted even better than many other pork buns that I have tried in LA (e.g. Baos Hog in Garden Grove, CA). (5/5) *** Overall the spicy miso ramen isn't exactly up to Los Angeles ramen standards, but those steamed pork buns are truly hidden gems and service was pretty good.

Danielle W.

Yelp
My family just ate at Boru Noodle Bar. While the food was ok what was not is the fact that one of their kitchen workers went on a racist rant about having to do the dishes or something. Saying he's not brown does he look brown he's no F'n beaner and on and on. very uncomfortable and unacceptable. We brought it up to staff who acted like he didn't hear it when you could hear it throughout the small restaurant. Please think twice about giving them your business.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Some of the best ramen I've had in a really long time! Definitely get the pork buns, they're delicious. My husband loved the house made kimchi too. I'm not a fan of pork belly, it's usually too fatty for my preference, but the pork belly I got in my bowl was perfect! So delicious, chewy, a little snappy, and a great mix of bacon and pork chop flavor. I wish I could live here!

Bailey P.

Yelp
Out of this world. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious Boru was. We ordered take out, spicy miso, spicy shrimp ramen and tater tots. Don't sleep on those tots they were so delicious. Even leftovers heated up the next day they were spectacular! There were a few people eating inside, kind of small but seams there are tables past the kitchen. slammin

Dory D.

Yelp
Food was great and service was excellent. We needed to heat up our son's puree and the waitress was happy to get us a boiling pot and a bowl to warm it up. So recommended.

Winny L.

Yelp
Came here for dinner after long drive to Rhode Island...we were looking for some comfort food to say the least. Not a big noodle bar and glad it wasn't packed when we got there. Had the basil chicken wings and pork buns as appetizers. The pork buns were good... and we were hungry. Ordered 3 House Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen. Thai ice tea was good but a bit sweet. Prices were decent and hit the spot.

Nick P.

Yelp
A good quick bite to eat. I recommend the house ramen and the pork buns. I got takeout and everything was still fresh and warm.
