Situated beside a clear stream, this interesting little place is a replica of an Iron Age ovoid-shaped, dirt house. Inside it had various artefacts expected to be found for cooking, leather working etc. it was very dark inside and quite hard to see anything much even after eyes became used to dimness. The largest of the two rooms had some low partitions which perhaps were meant as sleep spaces. The guide seemed knowledgeable about the place but the £5 access fee seemed a bit high.

Paul was an excellent guide today, making the visit very memorable. Initially, it was very dark inside, but it was remarkable how the eyes adapted to the lighting level. Strongly recommended.

This is a fascinating place to visit. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made the talk really interesting covering the digs, the reconstruction of the hut and also the various thoughts and academic theories on the life of the people who lived there. Well worth the £5 charge for adults. It’s also a beautiful beach and very peaceful. Parking at the top by the toilets (honesty box contributions appreciated to help the community keep the toilets maintained and supplied).

Short walk from the carpark with toilets and plenty of parking. Stunning beech and great to hear the wee talk about the house.

Loved the personable and informative talk, well worth the time to learn the history and relevance of this house! Top!

Probably a lesson to spend more time on the island as we couldn't get to everything we wanted to see during limited opening times. But it was still great to see a house from the outside that has been there since the iron age on this remote and beautiful beach.

Absolutely fascinating place and the guide really had a passion for the project and it's history. Even if this isn't 'your thing' the drive in, beach and outside of the house are stunning in their own right!

Our guide was excellent, I didn't catch his name but he stepped in for an unwell colleague. He was thorough in everything he explained and went into lots of detail with any questions we had. The house itself is incredible, well worth the visit!
