I went to go get my teeth cleaned here thinking that a dentist with a DMD would be better. Given that I had some pain in my teeth every time I drank cold fluids, maybe he could spare me the pain. Boy, was I wrong!
The service here was lousy and in broken and bastardized English (all the staff were Korean). Since I have UCSD dental insurance (poor coverage), I had very limited options. They were open on the weekends, which fit my schedule. But I would find later that it was convenience at a cost.
My first visit here, they took X-rays and examined my teeth. Dr. Shin Ahn, a supposed graduate of U Penn dental school per plaques on the wall, told me my teeth were cracked and I needed fillings done. I thought, that's odd, if my teeth were cracked wouldn't I be in a lot of pain? I've never had a cavity in 27 years of my life and the last dentist I saw 1 year ago said my teeth were fine. My tooth pain from cold fluids was on the other side of my mouth. He scoffed it off as being poor brushing and flossing technique. Gimme a break.
In his most paternalistic and patronizing tone, he told me I needed to come back and have the 'cracks' filled and that he would not clean my teeth without doing so. I begrudgingly gave in since he was the only one I could find who was open on weekends.
So to make a long story short, I got the fillings, but they conveniently forgot to tell me that ceramic was $100 more than silver fillings. I had to argue with the desk receptionist that I already paid for the x-rays on my first visit. Now my dental plan wants me to pay another $50 deductible, stating that what I paid in office was Dr. Ahn's pocket change. To make things worse, I still have the toothache! He only told me in passing to call his office again in 6 mo. for another checkup. Yeah right buddy!
Obviously, I was totally dissatisfied with what happened. Dr. Ahn is drilling for $$$ in innocent patients' mouths, not for our health. Avoid at all costs.
