"Quacking Good I'm usually a more 'off the beaten path' traveler, but when friends with kids came to town for a visit, I decided it was high time to make a reservation with Boston Duck Tours. Board the amphibious, WWII-style landing vehicle, and you might be greeted by Colonel Duck Tape for a tour of all Boston's major sites. It's a great way to get an overview of the city from a unique perspective, on both land and sea. You might even laugh at some of the corny jokes!"

Google
We got to the Museum of Science earlier than expected and the company was very nice, even changed our tour time to accommodate to an earlier duck versus having to wait around for over an hour. My family enjoyed the duck tour. Didn't have to drive in traffic while trying to look at the sites was great. Narrator was very informative and gave a lot of history of the sites we were seeing. Driver was very safe. The best part was at the end of the tour, it turned into a vessel on the Charles River.

Google
We had so much fun on the Boston Duck Tour! Our guide, Pat Slater, was funny and really made the history of Boston entertaining, while still informative. It felt like we were laughing and learning the whole time. Getting to drive the Duck on the Charles River was such a cool bonus—definitely a highlight! The tour itself was easy and comfortable. There were bathrooms nearby, plenty of shaded seating while we waited, and the whole process was smooth. You do hear a lot of the same history you’d get on a Freedom Trail walking tour, but the way it’s delivered—with personality, jokes, and the added river adventure—makes it 100% worth doing. Would totally recommend this to anyone visiting Boston!

Google
The tour took us around Downtown, but we didn’t stop at any landmarks. For about an hour, we enjoyed the ride while learning about Boston’s history. Then, we entered the Charles River, where we got to admire the bay and the panoramic view of the harbor, including the Bill Russell Bridge. It was an amazing experience to go from the road straight into the water. Super cool!

Google
Absolutely loved the Boston Duck Tour! A fun and unique way to see the city from both land and water. Our guide was hilarious and super knowledgeable. Learned so much about Boston history while having a blast.

Google
Quack Quack!! We had a fantastic experience on the Mary Molasses, the tour was great and the boat ride was pretty cool. Kids had a great time and love pretending to drive the boat. Big shout out to our favorite superhero Supersize! A little pricey.

Google
A must do in Boston. The portion of 20 minutes in the Charles River is awesome portion of the trip. The guide was very entertaining

Google
7-16-25 Did a Duck Tour with Weird Beard as our narrator. He was informative and funny. He generally had a passion for Boston and loved his job. Of course, this takes you around historical places in Boston but the ride on the Charles River is probably the highlight for most people. The children (and a couple of adults) got to drive the boat for a few seconds in the river. Viewing Boston from the river is a nice aspect. Most will like this.

Google
Probably my favorite part of my trip to Boston. Such a cool way to experience history and see the city. We had Choo Choo Charlie as our “ConDUCKtor” and he made it such a fun experience!

Yelp
Super fun affordable and unique tour ride around Boston! Even as current locals it was our first time and we enjoyed ourselves even more than the regular bus tours around the city we did when we first moved here. The weather was perfect and the location for the pickup and take off areas are very conveniently placed in tourist must see spots around the city. Highly recommend for folks wanting to get an overview of Boston without breaking the bank and for families who want a fun time with lively tour guides too!

Yelp
What a great experience!!! You get to see highlights of Boston on land and water! Our tour guide, Meatball, was fun and informative. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Yelp
our tour guide Bethmetal gave a pretty good tour keeping our toddler child entertained. The music add's a nice unexpected touch. I'd definitely go again once's he's a little older and can sit a bit longer.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
The tour starts on land then it goes into the river then comes back to land. The tour host was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all the questions people were throwing at him. He kept the tour upbeat and fun, it was far from boring, I would recommend a Duck Tour when visiting Boston

Yelp
One of the best tours in Boston! Reserve tickets online thru their site. The team here is so nice we requested a change of time for our tour due to traffic in the fwy and they easily moved us to the next one. The tour guide is entertaining, funny & knowledgeable of Boston history. This location is great, it's near Quincy Market and a 10mins walk to Little Italy as well. Definitely try this out when visiting Bean Town!

Yelp
Fun way to tour Boston! Tour guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. This was my 2nd time doing it.

Yelp
I love the duck tour. We were able to get our family of 6 on for just under $200. We bought our tickets at the science museum and left for that location for the tour. The kids loved the water and seeing the landmarks. They each got an opportunity to drive the boat in the water which was a highlight for them. I also enjoyed not walking half of the freedom trail to be honest, this was a great snip it of the walk and the sites to see. The tour has very little traffic at 10am and I would plan ahead for your day if you don't want to get stuck on the bus during high volume traffic times. I highly suggest this as one of your "Boston tourist" things to do. We moved to SoCal in 2012. I haven't been on one in many years and I enjoyed it as much as I had when I was young.

Yelp
A classic. Good for kids and adults. Beautiful views of the city in ways you might not otherwise see. Some of the education depends on your host. First one was hilarious and educational, second less so (we've been during spring break 2 years in a row!)

Yelp
If you are in Boston and this is your first time YOU MUST GO!!! Best experience ever. LOVED IT the views, history then getting on water such a cool experience my son is 10 and he loved it as well. Very kid friendly. MUST CHECK IT OUT!

Yelp
What a fun way to see Boston with a unique tour guide VIPierre(nickname). A little bit of comedy and a quick history lesson of Boston and the Revolution. Toured the highlights of the city and a float on the Charles River.

Nancy M.

Yelp
It's a fun, unusual tour of Boston harbor. Part of the tour is through downtown and then the duck boat goes into the Charles River for a different view.

Kad Z.

Yelp
The narrator U.K. Lee insults us and expects us to laugh at his jokes. His jokes are too forced to be funny, when no one laughed he took it personal and started insulting us. He said the kids were homeschooled because no one wants them?? called one of them short?? said the students moms do their grades and thats why they get straight A's. He tried making dirty jokes to a group of 8th graders and called them boring when they didnt laugh??

Yelp
1st day in Boston for family vacation, this was our first activity with Captain Robin the Riveter!!! When they drove up they were already cracking jokes, so I whispered to my husband, I hope we get to ride on their boat. And we did! It was a comical time full of great history and little known facts, very entertaining. It helped to do this first so that in the days to come as we walked the freedom trail we had an idea of where we were and which way we were headed. Once in the water Captain Robin has a surprise for the kiddos, and she likes to get to know her riders as well so get ready to participate. Definitely a top activity for us here in Boston.

Rita O.

Yelp
Captain Steve and speaker Splish were so much fun! I highly recommend this tour - Land & Sea! Very entertaining and educational.
google avatar

Tricia B.

Yelp
I've never been on a land and sea tour before, and it was such a fun experience! Reservations are the way to go, although there were seats available the day of in the morning. There are three locations to meet from, and we selected the Science Museum with their on-site parking garage. Our tour guide, who I shall remember as Duck Tracey, was very informative and could easily be heard while zipping through the streets and water way of Boston. This is an impressive feat because not only is the city loud, the vehicle itself is loud and bouncy. The duck boats take turns on the water portion, so there were slight delays negotiating around one another on the narrow roads, but other then that the tour was quick paced. I would definitely go again, and would love to go on Duck tours in other cities!

Yelp
We have been to Boston a number of times but we never stopped to try the Duck Boats. It was the best part of our weekend. Flo Waters was out guide. She had tons of personality and made the history part of the trip fun and entertaining. Great views of the city and a cool experience when the boat goes from the road to the river. Highly recommend if you want to have some fun, see some sights and learn about the history of Boston.

Yelp
For $41 with fee for an hour and a half, it was a great way to see Boston. We scheduled online a few days before because they sell out quickly. We boarded a few minutes before scheduled appointment of 1:30 and they left promptly. We did the city tour first then went into the Charles River then back on land. The tour guy was very entertaining.

Yelp
So far I have visited the Beautiful City Of Boston Massachusettes 3 Times in the year of 1996, 2013, 2019 and of those two different years of 1996 and 2013... I have never taken a boat ride on the Boston Duck Tours!!! And I have been wanting to take a ride on the Boston Duck Boat... On my last two previous trips to Boston which was back in 1996 and 2013 in 1996 didn't have a chance reason why we got to Boston at night just to visit family no chance to ride on the Boston Duck Boat and then in 2013... I missed out again it's because part of my East Coast Tour which included Boston but did not take us to the Boston Duck Tour instead it took us to other places like Quincy Market,Harvard University,MIT University which was a fun place to visit!!! But I wanted to take a ride on the Boston Duck Tour!!! And then I said to myself when am I ever gonna take a ride on a Boston Duck Boat!!! So from there and this year of June 2019 when I was going to New York and Boston for 2 weeks as a Family Vacation... And when we decided to another tour of Boston Ma, and this time I was superrrrrr happyyyyy it's because Boston Massachusettes tour had included the Boston Harbor Tour and also The Boston Duck Boat Tour and this time I made clear to myself and to my family that I wasn't gonna miss The Boston Harbor Boat Tour Ride & The Boston Duck Boat Tour Ride for the 3rd time!!! As I first stepped on board on the Boston Duck Boat Tour Ride I said YES YES YES it is finally happening!!! When the driver started that engine and we had very nice tour guide as well who showed us around the City Of Boston and told us the history of Boston like the Boston Massacre and the Dunkin Doughnuts and ext!!! After when the driver was done driving around the City Of BOSTON!!! The fun part has just begun it was off to the lake which made me and my family more happy!!! I was able to see The City Of Boston from the lake and got a chance to Fenway Park Home of the Boston Red Sox and the entire famous landmarks of Boston like the Paul Revere Statue he was famous in the American Revolution he had said THE RED COATS ARE COMING THE RED COATS ARE COMING!!!! Now that I finally rode on the BOSTON DUCK BOAT I can't believe that it took me 6 yrs when I waited that long!!! I can now cross that off on my bucket list!!! I will post pictures of myself later on when I was on that historic BOSTON DUCK BOAT TOUR RIDE OF JUNE 2019!!! If your here on vacation as a 1st timer or you have been here before To The Beautiful City Of Boston... I highly recommend to take a ride on THE BOSTON DUCK BOAT TOUR RIDE!!!

Yelp
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I bought corporate tickets for 7 people that I initially redeemed for Saturday 28th 9am and had to call them to purchase an additional child's ticket to add to our reservation. So far so good, except for the fact that during the redeeming of the ticket 3 separate reservations were generated, one of 6 adults, one of 1 adult, and one for 1 child, and that they got my first name wrong on the reservation twice. A day before departure I call to move the reservation from the 9am to the 6pm (same day, same departure location). At 4pm the day of departure, I checked the modified tickets and realized that only 1 ticket for one adult was moved to the 6pm slot, all others were still 9am reservations. Upon calling customer service and explaining the issue, I was told that what I saying "wasn't true and I was wrong". Then that the mistake they made wasn't their fault because they couldn't know that several reservations was under the same name. They first told me that the only thing that could be done was to reschedule at a later date, which I couldn't use as my guests were leaving the country the next day. I then asked to talk to a manager and was told that they could give me a coupon for any time but not reimburse me. When I accepted the coupon and asked to confirm that it was valid for the whole party of 7people + 1 child, the representative told me that it was only for 6 people and she had other clients to deal with and couldn't be bothered anymore!

Yelp
Wow, our guide was terrible. He had an abrasive vocal manner and talked rapid fire not caring if what he was saying was connecting with anyone or if we could understand him. He didn't even say all the consonants in the words he was saying. Spoke for a minute about Restoration Hardware, rambling off into nowhere. Wow, our guide was terrible. He had an abrasive vocal manner and talked rapid fire not caring if what he was saying was connecting with anyone or if we could understand him. He didn't even say all the consonants in the words he was saying. I was so excited to hear the story of Paul Revere. So so sad I couldn't follow what he was saying. Audio system was fine. 17 years doing this? We're guests eager to admire you and your city. These are tough times, maybe for you too. Please slow down your speech and act like you care. You can make people's day, week, year.

Yelp
Booked a tour on the 4th of July and we all had such a blast! My 5 year old loved driving the boat, and Paprika Quack was just amazing! Her wonderful sense of humor, history telling, compassion and inclusiveness of all the passengers is simply the best! Jim, the amazing driver, had such a down to earth, and ease about him while he drives through the streets of Boston and back to the Charles River. Thank you for making our 4th of July so amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
The worst experience I've ever had we came for 11am tour purchased tickets online NO ONE told use that we had to reserve a seat so we had to wait 2 hours for the next bus just to get rained on no one that works there seem to know the process of seating and reseving they just kept sending us back and forth

Yelp
Boston Duck Tour is awesome! The city has so much history and it's very interesting riding around town and getting educated on all the historical landmarks in and out of the water. Great way to blow a few hours in the afternoon. Highly recommend if you are visiting the city for the first time.
google avatar

Lissy N.

Yelp
Great fun and educational tour. Great way to see all the sites in Boston and learn a little history. Our tour guide was great and very funny. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I loved this tour! This is a must do on your first day in Boston. Our guide did an amazing job keeping our interest with his humor, and his knowledge of the area was thorough. It is a pricy ticket, but worth every penny. We learned so much about Boston and it helped us plan the rest of our visit with his suggestions.

Richard H.

Yelp
Took a tour with Captain Weirdbeard and Cheryl. Honestly the most entertaining 90 minutes I've experienced in ages. The captain was infectiously enthusiastic about the history, with just the right amount of comedy sprinkled in. He also kept my kids engaged and giggling. Props to Cheryl for making driving the duck look ridiculously simple, even in the Boston traffic. Thoroughly recommended!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
I went to enjoy this boat ride alone after a business trip! It was actually really fun! It's a bus that turns into a boat and the driver allows you to drive the boat when you are in the river and they take pictures of you doing it!!! I would recommend doing this if you are in the area! :) Larry knows his stuff and he is funny! Come check it out! You will not regret it! The full price ticket comes with the free Havard and MIT tours! I advise you guys check out the Groupon deal (if available), it has to be purchased 24 hours before the duck ride!

Yelp
My husband had to go to Boston for a business conference, so I went too. I Love Boston. I've been to Boston before, and still love it. The history behind the city, it's really quite amazing when/if you think about it. I did all of the typical tourist things, like take the trolley tour where you can get on and off at the various sites, and learn about our history. The trolley tours are worth it. This time, one evening, my husband and I took the Boston Duck Tour. WOW! I'll be honest, I was afraid I was going to get sea sick (yeah, I have a weak stomach), but alas, NOPE! I didn't! Yes! The Boston Duck Tours are so worth the money, whatever price you have to pay! It is so cool, I mean SO COOL that you are in this vehicle that is driving down the streets of Boston, and before you know it, you are in the water, rather, the Charles River! It's SO COOL! Granted, wear a light sweater, hoodie, or jacket, as you are out on the water, especially at night. Anyway, on the tour, you have the person who is actually driving the "duck," and you have a commentator, or someone else who is talking to you about all of the sites/history, all the things you are seeing while on the Duck Tour. It's really SO COOL!!!!! They explain how the vehicle works, but I don't remember that. I just remember that it's SO COOL!!!! You will NOT be disappointed if you go on the Boston Duck Tours. If I am ever back in Boston, you betcha that I'll go on one of their tours again. Quack! Quack! (you'll see what I mean - It's fun!)

Jack G.

Yelp
Entertaining ride, enjoyed the tour and seeing some of the city from the water, great for families. You can do the museum before or after the Duck tour.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Amazing tour had so much fun! The tour guide was amazing cant recommend this enough because of him! He made the experience so fun! Would go on this tour again and again!

Nikki S.

Yelp
Almost Educated Aaron was a hilarious and entertaining tour guide! I highly recommend!

Aaron L.

Yelp
Ya gotta do it. I mean, is it a bit cheesy and touristy? Yeah, maybe. Are you a tourist? Yeah - so ya gotta do it. It's a good intro-duck-tion (yeah I did it) to a great city and hopefully you'll get Paprika as your tour guide, which means you'll have a great time! Quack quack!!

Andrea S.

Yelp
We only had a few hours to take all the Boston sites in so we booked a tour and learned a lot! So much to see and do, we will definitely come back to explore all the sites in more detail. We had a great driver, Julia and a great narrator, Aaron. He was funny and knowledgeable. The kids really enjoyed the tour and even got to "drive" the boat. Highly recommend!

J V.

Yelp
We were encouraged by my local friend to take the tour. It's a cliche and quite "touristy", but my wife and I were so pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. Great host showered us with Boston history and folklore as we sputtered around Boston and the sat Charles river.
google avatar

Yelp
I've done several duck tours in different cities, and have enjoyed all of them so far. However, the Boston Duck Tour employees are rude and unhelpful. My mom is handicapped and needed a lift to get into the vehicle. The first guy she spoke to, an hour earlier than our reservation, said it wasn't a big deal to provide this. Once we showed up, which we arrived 25 minutes early since we understand it takes my mom a little longer, the crew acted like it was impossible to provide this service. In fact, there was no attempt to help her. This location gives Duck Tours a bad name, and shouldn't be allowed to state that they are handicapped accessible. I should add that the driver and tour guide did a great job. We all enjoyed the information and jokes. These two get 5 stars from us. Unfortunately their staff wasn't nearly as great as them and I'm keeping my rating low due their inability to support the handicapped, yet they state they do.

Yelp
Flo Waters was the best tour guide !!! She was knowledgeable and laugh out loud funny. We had the most wonderful time with her. We learned so much about Boston and will recommend this tour to everyone.

Amy S.

Yelp
Amazing! A fun way to see the city by land and water. Our guide was really funny and made the trip enjoyable. A definite must do while in Boston.

Irochka D.

Yelp
The experience is great and was made even better so by our amazing tour guide, named Dirty Waters. He was friendly, personable, funny and made a great rapport with literally everyone on the tour. This is our second time on the tour, and I feel that we have learned so much more than on the tour we took back in 2017. We had a ton of fun, our son got to drive the duck in the water and the location is super convenient right by the Science Museum.

Sarah W.

Yelp
I took my daughter(8) and her friend(10) on a duck tour this past weekend! what a great experience. The tour Itself was informative, fun and entertaining. our tour guide was captivating in his story telling that the girls were retaining information and asking questions about buildings and history throughout our weekend in the city!! Of course they loved the ride through the streets and the fact it seamlessly goes from land to water! Getting to drive the duck boat was an amazing added bonus!! Quacking and get quacked back at Kept them smiling through a hot and humid day in the city!! Can't recommend this tour enough fun for all ages!!!
google avatar

Erin G.

Yelp
Darneese is the best woman this town has ever seen. she was so friendly and so helpful. if you guys see her just know she gonna be the best woman ever!!! will be back again

Alfons R.

Yelp
Max Marshall Arch was just wonderful. The 80 minutes we had together with him were one of the shortest I ever had. The history lesson we got was so great, that our son loved it, although he hates history at school. He was funny and created a great atmosphere on the "boat" and the "car". There was a special surprise for the kids on the water ....

Yelp
Almost educated Aaron was hilarious. He was super funny and informative. Great tour and not very long.

Yelp
For visitors from France the headsets did not have enough information on them at all and one heard mostly music for most of the ride, and the timing was off. In addition they couldn't hear anything for the first ten minutes and were not given instruction on how to turn the sound on. The duck tours need to upgrade their audio translation system to be like the ones museums have where you push a button when you get to a particular location to hear the explanation. Seems like the best solution for a tour that is moving at an uncontrollable speed. As a tour that draws visitors from all over the world, and is somewhat expensive, the audio system technology used to translate the information really could, and should, be updated. We chose the Science museum location so that parking would be right there so that my elderly aunt wouldn't have to walk much, but parking there was impossible and we had to park at the galleria mall instead. dropping her off first was not possible because the traffic in front of the museum was so bad that I would never have made it back in time if I had to go around the driveway and back through the traffic to the galleria parking lot, so she had to walk and we almost missed the tour. If you have an elderly person, or someone who can't walk fast or easily, one must take that into account and leave a lot of extra time for traffic, parking a distance away, and walking-I would plan to get there 45 minutes before boarding time.

A C.

Yelp
So fun! Bring a jacket with a hood if you can. It can get pretty windy (during fall season). We got to see all the sites of Boston, all the food and restaurant recommendations, a good idea of the places to go see (eg statues, parks, sites), and even a few jokes here and there told by our tour guide that made the experience a whole lot more fun! Going from land to water was pretty cool not gonna lie. Got to poke fun at how beacon hill was where all the Richies are. And many other things! Worth the price they charge! Easy to reserve and find the duck.
google avatar

Melissa U.

Yelp
Ok, the positives: The tour is lengthy and informative. The host was fun and spoke clearly and had lots of knowledge. We went all around town and got to see all sorts of local landmarks and learn a lot of history and local opinion. The negatives: The vehicles are WAY too small, you are crammed in these tiny seats and it was just not cohesive to a long tour. I am relatively on the shorter side at 5'4" and my knees were in the back of the seat in front of me. I could not sit to the side as there was barely enough room for two people on a seat. It was really absurd how small the seats were. The tour is mostly on land. Only the very end is on water. It is expensive. Over $100 for two people was kind of pricey for how we were stuffed in like a bunch of sardines. Like I said, the tour wasn't bad at all, the staff were super cool and we saw a lot, but the bus, boat or whatever the vehicle is called was just not pleasant to sit in for that amount of time.
google avatar

Joel B.

Yelp
Max was great. Educational and funny. They made it fun for the kids too letting them drive in the water. I highly recommend this tour. It gave us a good overview of the city and then we were able to hit some of the highlights directly.

Yelp
Out of town guests interested in history, thought quick duck tour your would pack in some good information in 80 min. Took 2:30 your on Friday after Thanksgiving. Ok.. a 1star is to high. Awful. Basically no 2%history, who ever was talking should be fired. I get that is day after day, boring for them, but each ride must be a great experience. It wasn't.

Joan C.

Yelp
What a joy to be part of this unique tour of Boston. Our narrator, Javi, was really great and has become emotional thanking the entire group of tourists for coming to Boston after the pandemic. This tour is very educational and you will get lots of information about the history of Boston. Plus, you get to tour the city by land and by water! I highly recommend this tour!

Yelp
What a great way to see all the high points of Boston in an hours time! For anyone's first time in Boston (or anyone who hasn't been in some time)! Who get a guided tour by a Boston local whose enthusiasm will not disappoint! After gliding through the streets in your duck, your driver will dive into the Charles river to continue the tour! If the waters are nice and not to crowded they will let others driver once in the water ! Make sure to dive into this one if you have the opportunity!
