BSVC is part pristine store, part ranger station above a (now) pristine river. This is the place for souvenirs and stamps in your National Parks passport, and may be the most accessible visitor center in the US. Here, our girl was sworn in as a Junior Ranger! How many times have we driven over this neat site unaware of the history and nature beneath? Or the many waterfalls?
Not just a store/stamp station, this is also an interpretive spot. Where you now see bike parking and grandparents take little ones for a train ride it used to be a bustling industrial center, the reason for the village itself. That, and watching the river run past, you wouldn't know this was once a nearly dead river that once or twice (or more? Gasp!) caught fire in Cleveland. In all, it's a remarkable site, and a great place to conclude a Cuyahoga Valley visit.
The restrooms are in the small gray house next door to the visitor center, so don't go looking for them in the visitor center itself. For some reason sink plumbing wasn't hooked up, but being not quite post-covid there was plenty hand sanitizer available.
Mind the train crossing of course, here and throughout the park, and enjoy!
