Boston Universal Stanley Hotel & Hostel Boutique

The rooms are clean & staff & owners are very friendly as well as helpful with anything you need & Chelsea isn’t a infested drug area rather hardworking people homemade Latin American food next door & rooms aren’t dirty yet cheaper cash only stay for 1 person inn my opinion & stay here I highly recommend it as well as try it for yourself without reviews telling you otherwise choice is one’s own too make especially when paying for it I have no regrets nor complaints about my stay nor the motel either way they helped me out when nobody else would!!!

I was in a tough financial position, being in between jobs and taking care of my sick husband. We chose to rent a room at the old Stanley Hotel now called the Universal Motel in Chelsea MA. We knew it was not going to be the best of places but what we got was unbelievable. Rats throughout the inside and outside of the location. Bed bugs also throughout the location. One shard bathroom which was never cleaned and had mold every where. The constant smell of urine was throughout the entire building. We were paying 80.00 a night ! Constant cops activity there, you could smell the drug usage from time to time. The only time the place was remotely cleaned is when they were scheduled for a city inspection. And the owner was caught several times changing room amounts to what ever he felt like for who ever he felt like. This place was a nightmare

Flights cancelled and only other hotel around was over $500. This place takes cash only and was the nasty place. Bed sheets had numerous hairs and floor in bathroom hairs on floor and in sink. Slept in clothes and only 1 hour as so scared. Shady characters and room very small and nasty. Clean towel has hairs on it. Glad to have made it out alive!!||When I saw room, I would have paid the $500 but that hotel was already sold out when I called and would have gladly given up the $100 I paid for the room. They take cash only. The only decent thing was the TV. Very scary...

I don’t recommend this place! It’s completely dirty, bath is horrible, sheets have holes and stains, no blankets, the front desk is impolite! Please if you want a comfortable night don’t come to this hotel, save a little more money to afford other place

Absolutely Disgusting . I'm surprised I didn't leave with hepatitis . I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. The location is creepy and engrossed in drug activity. Non existent customer service and forget about getting clean towels, I had to use my own in fear of developing some sort of skin rash.

Rooms are dingy, cold in the fall and winter. The front desk man negotiates prices. They low key judge you once you walk through the door. Always watching and you can't go to and from your room as you would like without being judged. I really would give them a half star ⭐

I tink the hotel is actually beautiful. Had a cozy clean room. The bathroom was clean and nice. The only thing is the management are always rude and tend to make you feel as if they are looking down their nose at you.

Sucks manger can not mind his business. Constantly knocking on door. Counts how many times you come and go from your room. Owner likes to tell people what to do and how to live. I have never felt so invaded of my privacy.

OMG! I made it out alive! Flight cancelled and only hotel around which wasn't over $490. Beds dirty with hair and pillow cases as well. Toilet stains on seat and floor had hair. Slept for 2 hours waking up frequently. Slept with clothes in and after knocking hairs off sheet. Shady characters and only take cash with no refunds. Only decent thing was the TV, which they make you pay a $25 deposit for so you will return it. Only cash taken. Worse place ever! And had I known of this place before I got here, I would have paid the $490 but after I got to this place and called that hotel, they were sold out too as I would have gladly let them keep the $100 (no refunds) for the room. Also goes by name-Universal Hotel. BEWARE!!!

The place is at a creepy area of Boston, it can be dangerous at night. The staff is not professional and almost impolite. Some people staying in the hotel make too much noise at night. You get less than what you pay for.
