Wanted to buy some houseplants today, went at 2:40 pm, and while the hours say from 10:30 to 17:30 on Thursday, there was a plate that says the shop was closed until 4 pm for lunch. a) why bother coming back at 4 pm if you are closing soon after it? b) why list opening hours from 10:30 to 17:30 then? Instead of women-owned I think this is just poorly-managed-owned.

Absolutely love it here, I'm a complete plant addict with a flat In London that looks more like a jungle. The owner is a wonderful lady, friendly, helpful and knows her stuff, I love all the gifts and could have easily spent every penny I have on yet more plants! There are so many rare and unusual plants in here, ones that I've had on my list for a while and I'm still kicking myself that I left without some of them! I also love the size and value of some of the plants here, if I didn't have to travel so far, I would have snapped up the variegated monstera <3 This will be my first stop every time I'm in York!

Stunning little plant shop, with an almost gothic feel in the bohemian Walmgate area. Sells interesting plants and also feed and soil for your potted pals. The person running the shop was really helpful and knowledgeable about my plant and how to nurse it back to health. From around April, they will offer a repotting service, so your little darlings can grow and prosper.

Lovely store. Knowledgeable staff. Got a gift voucher from friends and even though I brought the wrong slip; exchanged it easily enough. Few rare and unique houseplants that you won’t find anywhere else. Found a very healthy Stephanie erecta (that took me months to grow from a bulb online) there, should have visited here instead!

Got a very nice big cactus here for my mother, she loved it and it's thriving so far. The staff member was very helpful, they gave me good care tips and helped to wrap it so I didn't get spiked bringing it home. Good plant selection at a range of price points, plus pots and books and stuff. Great vibe.

Happy with the products I received online and the initial customer service. However, I never received a partial refund for an item that was out of stock (over 5 weeks later). --- EDIT: Refund received 17 Oct 2024. Review increased to 4 stars.

This place is lovely, reasonably priced plants, a lot of beautiful succulents and the lady that worked there is very helpful in telling you how to not kill your plants. I finally found out what one of my plants are and how it should look!

Another local insider tip and I was tempted to reintroduce pot plants into my home. Botanic was like a trip back to my childhood in Germany when I had a bedroom filled with cactus and succulents ... there were even pots hanging in macrame nets just like the ones I used to make - not sure if this made me feel young again or just very, very old. Luckily I couldn't take too many plants on the train back to London, but it was a joy just looking around and overhearing the very knowledeable owner giving advice to customers. I hope some of the many people crammed into the small shop bought more than just a couple of greeting cards!
