The Museo Botero in Bogotá showcases Fernando Botero’s iconic rotund figures alongside masterpieces from Picasso, Monet, and more in a charming colonial mansion.
"Set within the Banco de la República’s museum complex, the Botero Museum offers a sampling of paintings and sculptures by famed Colombian artist Fernando Botero, best known for his still lifes and his exaggeratedly rotund human figures. Botero donated 123 of his own pieces to the institution, as well as 85 from his personal collection—including treasures by Chagall, Picasso, Monet, and Miró. The gracious colonial-era mansion includes an area that displays contemporary Latin American and European artworks. Audio guides are available in English, French, and Spanish. By Travesías"

If you appreciate art, the Botero Museum is a must-visit while in Bogotá. It’s a beautiful and unique space that highlights Fernando Botero’s iconic oversized paintings and sculptures. The museum also includes works by legendary artists like Picasso, Monet, and Degas.
Admission is completely free, the space is very clean, and the staff is friendly. Just be sure to keep your distance from the artwork. The layout is easy to walk through and doesn’t take long, so if you’re in the La Candelaria area, it’s definitely worth stopping by.

A very inspirational place. Go on a weekday a couple of hours before the closing time for a less crowded experience. It’s actually a cluster of 3 museums and you can easily spend there 2-3h. I went on a Wednesday. The entrance was free. Even if it wasn’t, it would totally be worth it!

Fantastic museum! On the day we went, admission was free. I didn’t research beforehand so not sure if it is normally free to visit, but really grateful it was. I was also extremely surprised to find out that pieces from other artists such as Dali, Picasso, etc., were also on exhibit. The museum is also in a prime location near other museums, attractions, shopping and restaurants.

Fabulous museum, we liked this much better than the Oro museum. It’s not too big and not too small. You can take pictures without flash, unlike the Botero museum in Medellín. Highly recommend stopping by for however long you can. It is not only works by Botero, but also works that he collected, like Picasso, Degas, etc.

Pretty amazing museum, incredible that it’s free.
Beyond a huge amount of Botero work it also includes other works from basically every major 20th century artist, including Picasso.
The complex also has a wonderful cafe and 2 (or more) other museums all within the same complex, with a plethora of galleries. It’s very easy to spend 1 hour or 4 here.
We really enjoyed the portraits, bronze sculpture & other works on offer.
The only let down is there was no notice that one of the wings was closed so didn’t get to see Mona Lisa and Pope Leo X (my favourite two).

Such a nice and refreshing museum. A little bit quirky but so cool. The pieces they exposed are very good / beautiful and it’s breeze of fresh air to walk trough the museum. I loved it !

If you're looking for an art experience that impresses anyone, Museo de Botero in Bogotá’s historical center, La Candelaria is an absolute must.
Among the highlights is Picasso’s “Seated Man with Pipe”, plus many other renowned pieces. The range is vast—from 19th‑century impressionists to 20th‑century giants .
Museo Botero isn’t just a museum—it's an art sanctuary. From Botero’s magnificence artwork to priceless works by other important artists, everything is displayed with elegance. The space itself is serene and beautiful. It’s no wonder it's such a beloved gem of Bogotá.
