Fantastic bakery for sourdough, focaccia bread, bagels. They have ham and swiss stuffed croissants, turkey and cheese stuffed croissants. Focaccia breakfast bread. Cookies. Cheese or almond danish. Muffins. Delicious fresh brewed coffee. You can eat inside or there are a few tables outside. Don’t be worried about the line outside- it moves quickly due to great service. You place your order and move down the line; it’s typically ready by the time you get to the register. They have homemade dog treats if you bring your furry friends along- pet friendly to sit outside. They do run out of items so arrive early. Parking is along the street and sometimes limited but plenty of side streets to park on. Paid- Metered parking begins at 10 a.

I tried the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and it was pretty good, the biscuit was alike to a cheddar bay biscuit. It is pork sausage so it's a bit spicy. The eggs on top were good, they must have baked them. The biscuits are all pre-packaged so there isn't a way to change them. We had a blueberry butter cookie type thing and it was delicious. Lastly I tried the salted chocolate chip cookie, but I wasn't a fan, it tasted like a Milano cookie.

Google
4.5 stars. Cute little bakery with a nice vintage eclectic vibe. The selection covered all the bases, but I wouldn't consider it extensive: bread, bagels, breakfast biscuits, croissants and other pastries. They also have a variety of drinks including coffee, hot chocolate, and fancy juices. My food was excellent, except the bacon egg and cheese biscuit was somewhere between room temperature and warm. I wish it had been hot. My wife found her croissant fantastic. In short, it's a great place for brunch if you just want something simple and tasty in a calm atmosphere.

Google
Lovely place and very kind people! The food was a little disappointing. The croissants and danishes were a little tough but the coffee and hot chocolate were great! Also highly recommend the strawberry brioche cupcake/muffin thing!

Google
Cool building right off the square with a lot of activity. That is the entire list of positives. The operation is very poorly run despite having a lot of people working there. They all seem to be serving one customer at a time and running in circles. The coffee was absolutely terrible, to the point of being undrinkable. Got a blueberry muffin that was cold and so hard you couldn’t break it. We asked them to warm up the muffins and they had no clue how to do that. Took my muffin for 10 minutes and it came back with it the exact same temperature when they left. When we did get our undrinkable coffees they weren’t labeled and no one told us which was which. When we asked they didn’t know either. Coffee is supposed to be relaxing, and this was not a good experience.

Google
Good coffee, good atmosphere! No gluten free options for pastries, GF fruit cup available. All other pastries are supposedly delicious.

Google
My favorite bakery in the world. A coffee on the rocks with a simple danish here and I am in my happy place. Memories of football games, pre-exam breakfast dates with my future wife, and meetups with the best of friends. I love Bottletree Bakery.

September Moore

Google
Fresh baked pastries, bread and other absolutely delicious things. Great coffee too.

Yelp
Can't say enough about this hip and frozen in time bakery. It is just perfect. Coffee is awesome too. This was my wife's first personal experience at Bottletree. She had ham and Swiss croissant, salt & Pepper gg and cheddar cup croissant, head-sized Cinnamon Roll, and capped it off with chocolate croissant. All were perfection. Cinnamon rolls are hard to do well and Bottletree nailed it. Their icing is a unique fluffy melty simple stuff that is to die for. I just wish we had more days there to try everything in the menu.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast the other day. Coffee was strong and the staff were nice and friendly. The cream puff was really good, the filling was great and the outside good as well. I would pass on the croissant, it was doughy and lacked lamination. I witnessed the owner lose her temper at some of the staff and roll her eyes at them so I'm not sure how she keeps them around. She seems to pick and choose who she's friendly with, go out of her way for a group that was visiting from somewhere else going to see a music festival but then completely ignore others and then bashing the town for getting too populated.

Donna P.

Yelp
Either the baker or the recipe has changed . All bread with little filling . This was my favorite breakfast treat. But at almost $5 per danish - we won't be going back for more!

Bonnie R.

Yelp
I wanted to avoid chain shops and stores while in Oxford and found this gem right off the square and within walking distance of my hotel. The pros: location, outside seating and a cute and unique interior. The coffee was quite delicious. The cons: service was a bit abrupt and unwelcoming, and all food is wrapped to go. Seating was uncomfortable. Most unfortunate, the baked good (raspberry croissant) was so hard that only part of it was edible. All in all, for the cost (around $10 for the small mocha and croissant) and given the strong competition in Oxford, I likely won't be back in the near term.

Yelp
In Oxford for my daughters softball tournament, and I always like to try some of the local establishments. Not a ton of bakeries that I found but this place definitely hit the spot! Anytime I go to a bakery I always buy a scone as I am a bit of a junkie and I think scones really show the mastery of a shop. The scone was average. it was a cinnamon raisin and was a bit on the dry side, but the flavor was decent. The danish on the other hand was outstanding!! I think it was called an everything danish as it had chocolate and some type of crystallized sugar on it and it was delicious- Especially when you had a bite with everything together. The venue had a nice vibe to it and they were pretty busy in the morning. It was a little awkward in terms of ordering, because right when you walked in the pastry shelves were right in front and the register was on the other side and it didn't quite make sense how to get service. The staff was very courteous. I would totally recommend this place is they had a bunch of other items that looks super tasty!

Brad H.

Yelp
Bakery items are fantastic. Skip the coffee though, it is overpriced, they do not offer iced coffee only iced lattes and a large drink is the size of a small elsewhere.

Molly R.

Yelp
Worst baked goods I've ever had. I ordered a chocolate croissant and it was hard as a rock. Crusty and dry. I was expecting a soft, flaky texture in my mouth and instead I couldn't bite into it. My friend ordered monkey bread, it was also hard as a rock. Rude workers and horrible service. My day was completely ruined as I had anticipated my dining at bottletree.

Siobhan A.

Yelp
Best bakery ever!!! Muffins are so good!! Love the chocolate croissants!!!! Come here when you're in Oxford!!

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Delightful!!! My daughters and I loved this place... so we had to go twice while we were in town. The iced americano fabulous. So we got that both days along with the ham and cheese croissant. Granola in the parfait is delirious. The bagel with the onion and tomato was delicious.! We absolutely recommend trying bottle tree bakery.

Kim D.

Yelp
Love Bottletree.. excellent coffee and pastries .. wish they had longer hours though!

Cruz G.

Yelp
Only write reviews when the place is not up to par, if you guys want to close at 11am close at 11am why have 12pm close time online. Giving us cold coffees is unacceptable.

Christian S.

Yelp
Great little bakery, nice atmosphere. Have had a couple of issues with some of the workers though, aside from that it's a nice weekend morning spot.

Rob T.

Yelp
I'm in Oxford a couple times a year and this is a must stop for me! Best strong, dark coffee in the state! Fantastic bakery items but go early, they will sell out! Cynthia and her crew work EXTREMELY hard so be patient and enjoy a cup!

Jack C.

Yelp
I love this place. I come from Arizona to see my mom and always go there. I love the expresso and bakery items. I wish they would be open a few more hours and days because I would go many times while I visit.

Joe R.

Yelp
Can't really comment on the quality of the food because their hours of operation are so limited I haven't been able to try the place. Be aware this is a part time business

Nick B.

Yelp
Lol good! This place has it all, cool hip vibe, insanely big and delicious pastries, and great selection of coffee. We had the monkey bread which came with icing on the side - great, also got a cinnamon roll that was out of this world - soft, big, and covered in icing. Topped all of this off with a Bowl of Soul (coffee, espresso, chocolate, and steamed milk). Atmosphere- 5 stars - fun and eclectic Service - 5 stars - got everything right, nice and quick Food - 5 stars - cant imagine anything being better

Cornelious A.

Yelp
I love this place. Some of the best baked goods I've ever had and Audrey was super helpful! Will be coming here more often

Jim H.

Yelp
Tasty stop during quick visit to Oxford. Great rec from an Ole Miss alum. Honey cream Danish and a cup of coffee. Danish fabulous, coffee good. Service friendly and with a smile even dealing with my dry "wit". May need double quotes around wit but I digress. Location is fabulous. Can get a bun and coffee them stroll the square.

John G.

Yelp
The owner of this establishment has anger issues and needs to seek help! She snaps at customers and yells at her staff in front of customers and throws the espresso equipment around as she's yelling. Everyone in the place was looking at her in shock but she didn't seem to care. I don't see how she keeps staff.

J N.

Yelp
the gentleman that was working the counter was very nice. he was telling all about what they had that day. I ended up ordering a bagel and a croissant. The croissant was wonderful. The bagel was ok. That is kind of on me. I like my bagel with the smear on it before I receive it not handed a small package if cream cheese to put on myself. Will definitely be back to try some other treats.

Catmandoo C.

Yelp
If you are looking for bad customer service and the owner arguing with her staff at the front register, then look no further. Walked in and saw the owner demeaning an employee. Overpriced items, and they charge you extra for icing for your cinnamon roll. Unfortunately the owner doesn't understand good service and professionalism in the workplace. Do not recommend at all!

Kara g.

Yelp
Rude rude RUDE!! I went here once in 2018 and the food was great as well as the service. Cut to today (4 years later) and this was possibly one of the worst food experiences I've ever had. I asked for a menu and was told "what you see is what you get." in a VERY condescending tone. So, my friends and I ordered our pastry's and sat to eat. I got up and asked for a cup of water and was told to get back in a line that I had already waited 15 minutes in. The entire time we ate the owner was constantly screaming at her staff and at customers. It was a very unwelcoming environment where getting business seems to be a inconvenience. Constant rolling eyes, SLAMMING doors (because a customer asked for something not on the display), and throwing plates across the counter. I saw one customer ask for non dairy creamer and the owner gave a rude "ugh" and then said "What kind? There's more than one kind of non dairy creamer you know!" in a sarcastic tone. My friend waited for 20mins for one of her pastry's (mind you we had the rest of our food). When she eventually asked for it she ended up getting the wrong pastry and was too scared to ask for the correct one considering the owners rampage the entire time we were there. This is not the old Bottle Tree and if me giving them money is such an inconvenience to them I won't be going again, and I'll make sure others know that their business is an inconvenience too. I can understand not always serving with a smile but being rude and unfair to customers isn't a way to go about it. If you can't handle a customer asking for a simple cup of water maybe you shouldn't be in the customer service industry.

Sally L.

Yelp
Food was good but employees seemed angry and very unwelcoming. Kinda felt uncomfortable asking them for anything lol but environment was cute!

Jen B.

Yelp
What a cute little shop! I spent my morning walking through town, and stopped here to grab coffee to bring back to the hotel. The service was super friendly and I just loved the interior of the shop! I ordered 2 cappuccinos and a black coffee and also got a blueberry brioche, raspberry brioche, and blueberry muffin to go. A word to the wise -- they do NOT have coffee carriers here. I was lucky enough to have another patron get me one she had in her car, otherwise my walk back to the hotel would have been fraught with peril! We thought the coffee and cappuccinos were good. We also enjoyed the brioches, but found the blueberry muffin lacking. Next time I'm back in Oxford, I'll be sure to stop in to try something else!

Nathan H.

Yelp
We always love eating at Bottletree when we're in town. A cup of granola and fruit, sausage biscuit or turkey/cheddar croissant, and either a brioche or honey cream cheese pastry will get you through the day. The owner Cynthia really cares about her clients and will make sure you leave happy.

Mitzi S.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick peek to see what looked good. Seriously, everything in the case looked delicious. I spotted a loaf of banana nut bread (who doesn't love bnb?), and an item called coalminer. We purchased 3 of the coalminers and the bread loaf. $35!! I tested the bnb first. It is so dense and dry. Not moist at all, with little to no banana flavor. I should have driven to the country and purchased a loaf from an Amish lady for $5 (and it would have been delicious). Then we tried the coalminers (a croissant with salami and pepperoccini). They were just alright. On the verge of being bland. Bottletree might have just been voted the best but it wasn't due to the two items we just had. Won't be back.

Beth G.

Yelp
Cute spot. Fun, hipster staff. Flavorful coffee. They gave us a bunch of free pastries when we bought just one. Seems like a cool place to catch up on gossip with friends,or to go solo with a laptop or book.

Sue P.

Yelp
Very cute place bakery and sandwiches, soup and baked good. I had the quiche and was delicious! We bought lots of baked goodies to go

Lauren B.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Definitely will be returning when my family comes down to visit. The prices were great and I had a very pleasant experience!

Cheri C.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and delicious pastries! We stopped in on a Saturday morning for a quick breakfast and were not disappointed. The case is filled with fresh made pastries and we had a hard time deciding. The staff recommended the bear claw croissant so we went with that and a raspberry stuffed croissant - both were melt in your mouth amazing. They have a great variety of "to go" items as well. Check the hours because they close early but this is a great choice for coffee, breakfast or lunch in Oxford.

Lorri K.

Yelp
Soooo good! Love when a bakery can actually make baked goods!! Had the turkey and cheddar croissant and the strawberry humble pie! Both done to perfection! Get there early on a Sunday cuz they run out of the food stuff fast!

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Cute little gem in Oxford. This shop has been noted in both the New York Times and Southern Living. Fantastic pastries! So good that we came back the next morning.

Terri B.

Yelp
Great coffee, pastries, breakfast pastries, and we love their loaf bread. We buy a large loaf every time we eat there. All is yummy!

David C.

Yelp
We sure miss the bottlettree bakery I mean the old Bottletree Bakery where service was with a smile but there is no service really you place your order at the cash register where the screen asks you for a tip we got coffee and when I asked for cream the young man (not a waiter since there is no service) told me it is over there pointing to a coffee pot and cream and sugars so I walked over to get some and the bottle had a couple of drops in it then I asked for my danish to be warmed (it was obviously not baked this morning) and was told that they don't do that there were 3 young men and a lady in addition to the owner present but the place is pretty much self service now my husband got the bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese, tomato, red onion and capers and he enjoyed it very much we have given them one more chance 2 or 3 times but we will not cross their threshold again

Lj L.

Yelp
In town randomly for a Sunday morning and had a little time to kill, was told this place was a must try. Let me tell you, it most definitely is. Not everything was perfect, but the atmosphere and staff made the experience over the top. True southern hospitality. Seated myself at the bar and orderes a cortado, was served a latte but the Barista came over and we chatted about it and the dude was genuinely interested to learn what a correct cortado was. Espresso was decent, not great. Ordered a sausage and biscuit after chatting with Carry (sp?) about what was good on the menu. The item came out and was pretty small in size but large in flavors. Biscuit was flaky and delicious. Was still hungry so got a preserve brioche and black coffee. WOW!!! Man they have their pastry game on point!! One of the best pastries I've had in a while, light, flaky, perfect amount of sugar and toppings. Again, the coffee wasn't super but it was decent the good was KILLER but the staff put it over the top. When I was leaving Blake helped me pick a good savory croissant for my friend I was meeting, he loved it. The music was chill inside and the seating comfortable. If I'm in the area again I'll be back for sure!!

Olivia P.

Yelp
Not great customer service. Barely had any food left at 10:30 when they close at 2. I used to love this place when I was in college but it was disappointing today.

Tim E.

Yelp
One word: awful. My experience began with a very disorganized counter and rude waiter. Once I finally was able to place my order, I was surprised to learn that they don't have ice coffee. Well, it's Mississippi in the summer.m, and it's a coffee shop. Why would I think they would have ice coffee. Silly me! Next, we received plastic forks for our danish. You know the kind, the ones that bend when you breath on them. For a college town I am mystified why downtown does not have another coffee shop. This is not worth the wait or the walk. UPDATE: there is another coffee shop called High Point. outstanding.

Lynee G.

Yelp
We came here as a group of 6 because it was mentioned as having vegan items. The waitress although very kind, knew nothing that was vegan, she had to ask someone else...almost everything was made with butter. My friend could only get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on one type of non dairy bread. Most of the items the rest of our group wanted were sold out. Everything was tasty but it took them over an hour and a half to serve us. Yes it was a Saturday morning, but still how long could a croissant with ham and cheese take? They were one of the few places we were able to get a decaf coffee but the wait and lack of items on the menu was disappointing. The whole process took way longer than expected and there were no egg items for breakfast.

Sal D.

Yelp
Excellent baguettes and loaves of all kinds, really the only bakery in Oxford... but this is more of a hobby than a business. They're open usually four days a week for a few hours before noon or until they run out of bread, which is pretty quickly. I was once told there was no bread because the baker didn't show up for work. And the teen staff is in a world of their own. If you absolutely must eat, try Panera.

Betsy T.

Yelp
Really delicious pastries, but some of the worst service you will ever encounter. I used to eat here daily years ago, but have stopped going as much because it's kind of a turn off. Everyone is friendly and well-meaning, but it's clear upper management needs to implement, at the most basic level, training for the staff/servers. I've seen the owner on several occasions walk out from the back in a terrible mood, sometimes even openly hostile in view of customers, so it's not really surprising that that general disregard for appearances and overall unprofessionalism seeps to the bottom levels. It's a good place to go if you have a lot of time to just sit and wait, or need to just tinker around on your computer or read for school without an urgent schedule looming overhead. Great croissants. And the honey, strawberry, or blueberry humble pies are my fave. They also make fresh bread which is nice if you need a baguette for dinner or bagels for breakfast. My suggestion: order to-go so you don't have to deal with eating there.

David P.

Yelp
Bottle tree is a bohemian bakery and coffeehouse near the square in Oxford. The pastries are good and the staff works hard. Checkout is really really slow.....they need to get square! It's about the only place open for breakfast so go early.

Mary F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere: eclectic & funky. Sat at the bar & enjoyed talking to the staff. Had their house granola: very filling & yummy. Bowl was a large portion served with milk on top. Vanilla latte very large! Low fat is optional. My friend had bagel: salmon cream cheese! Looked great. Reviews all great!

Chris L.

Yelp
This one is tough, it could easily gain a star or two based on taste alone. But the service, and more particularly the brunette working the counter had such sass and negative attitude that it impacted the entire experience. First time here, trying to get our bearings - walk in and "can I help you" with an accompanying "what do you want attitude." I ask if a menu, I get "what you see is what we have left." Now I appreciate homemade food and limited supply, but I don't know what I'm looking at and there is no or at least limited signage to tell me what is. So I ask, "what is that?" and back comes the attitude, "ham and swiss croissant!" muddled through our order, paid, and waiting on drinks and get you guys can eat at (not sure where she said) next door. As in, you need to leave now. Except I am waiting on my drinks still, thank ill get those before we leave if that is ok. One of the males working the counter made up for her sass, he was appreciative of people coming in and was serving about 2 customers to her every one. You need more of him and less of her, perhaps she should shadow him once she gets the stick out of her backside. There are limited breakfast shoot in Oxford, and the food was really good, but your service will kill you if you don't get it in check.

R G.

Yelp
Pastries are out of this world and very smooth coffee as well. I liove everything about it. Location on the square is great too.

Michelle C.

Yelp
I love going to bottle tree... and even more now that I discovered how quiet it is during the week. Saturday and Sundays can be a bit overwhelming in this small cafe but it's worth it if you can get a seat. Service can be spotty but when they are on their game they are friendly and efficient. My advice is if there is bar seating - snag a few stools and dine (or sip) there! Their pastries are delicious as well sandwiches, soups, you name it. I've never had one bad thing here. My favorites: The Garden (on sesame seed bagel), coconut curry chicken soup, and all the pastries!

Amanda J.

Yelp
Quick service, DELICIOUS FOOD! A couple tips though - arrive early (or you will wait) and they don't start serving their lunch menu until 11 am! We got the cinnamon roll (of course!) and it was just as amazing if not more so than it looks. We also sampled the turkey and cheese croissant and the Downtown bagel. Wow. That's really all I can say. I will definitely be back!! :)

Matt D.

Yelp
Phenomenal coffee and food. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Oxford. The snickerdoodles with Boston cream between them is amazing. Coffee was excellent. Prices are fair.

Joyce H.

Yelp
They have great food but the rude people running the place makes it the last place I would eat in OXFORD. They won't miss my business, they are always crowded.

Celeste M.

Yelp
Nothing in this world matches a weekend morning spent with a good book, a cup of tea, and a delicious (insert anything from the Bottletree menu here). They are so good I bought a t-shirt and then went back, ate more, and bought a second t-shirt. Couldn't recommend more.
