Loved Bouchaine Winery. They set the bar so high for the rest of our wine tours that day (and in the end they were the best we visited by leaps and bounds). Came incredibly early, I think we were there right around when they opened, and it was just the four of us. It sounded like because our group was so small we were given the VIP treatment: run of the grounds, samples of anything and everything, and an intimate and detailed tour of the production facility (... while drinking, of course).
Their wines were my favorite from that day's trip around Napa - I tried all of their reds, and appreciated how different and distinct each was. I can't remember now (#wine) but one I tried tasted just like SweeTarts - I think I could have sat there all day in the warm summer sun just drinking that.
And their property? Absolutely. Without. A. Doubt. Stunning. I couldn't believe how much physical space there was - ample seating spread across a beautifully manicured garden overlooking rows and rows of vines. Whether you're a party of two or twenty, because of how much seating, styles of seating (benches, chairs, adirondacks, couches, etc.), and location of seating (in the sun, out of the sun, set apart, in the thick of things, under an umbrella, under a tree) there is -- you're going to have a private, unique experience from everyone else here.
If I lived nearby, THIS would be where I came to enjoy a bottle with my friends. And if you're visiting and this isn't on your radar: rearrange your schedule so that it is. Not to be missed!
