The Best Places to Eat and Sip in Rural Québec - AFAR

"An island sanctuary in the St. Lawrence River just a short ferry ride or about 30 minutes from Montréal, offering a 13-mile network of flat, family-friendly trails with bridges, scenic lookouts, and discovery stations. The park provides bike rentals (including tandems and helmets), kayak/canoe/stand-up paddle board rentals, plentiful picnic spots, and ready-to-camp sites where visitors can cook and enjoy regional ingredients under the stars." - AFAR

We've camped here, biked, kayaked over the years, I tried to rent a kayak the other day but the rental place is closed during the week, only opened on weekends and holidays, so I biked for a bit but there is not much to do unless you have plans, biking around the island takes like 20 minutes. I came by ferry from the main land, it's $3.25 each way. Camping is great, it's a very nice parc with lovely sounds of nature, great amenities, a boutique and snack store on the main island. You need a buggy to bring your stuff over to the site, cars are not permitted.

Beautiful tranquil park which I r joyed hiking in! The various hiking trails usually take about 1-2 hours. Very easy walking and no bugs! Huge bike trails as well! Will return to go Kayaking! Rentals possible on site

Beautiful place to go for a walk, alone, in groups, or with your dog. I went on April 07, and all washrooms were still closed (only the one in the visitor's center was open), which is the reason why I am giving four stars. It is pretty hard waking for 4, 5 km without a washroom or a place to refill your water bottle. It was my first time there and I will be more prepared next time for sure. Anyway, I enjoyed my time there. Probably the best time to go is in the fall when all the trees are changing colors. Truly, I will be back.

Near Montreal, this national park offers good hiking trails and nice views. There is a rental place for kayaks and water sports, but be aware that the last rental is at 3:45 PM. We waited in line for 40 minutes, and despite reaching the front at around 3:50 PM, the staff refused to rent to us, claiming they were closed. It looked like the staff started closing sooner and didn't serve others. Although there are indoor bathrooms and a small shop, the bathroom closed at 5 PM, which was inconvenient. Overall, the hike was pleasant, but the staff didn't seem helpful.

We hiked for about 90 minutes around the perimeter of the island. It’s such a blessing to have this natural area in the middle of the city! It is an easy hike, well maintained trail with lots if trees, marsh and river to see. You will see tons of deer and groundhogs. If you love the nature, do not feed the wildlife!

Passed by because I was staying at the hotel governor next to it so I decided to take a tour. At first I hesitated if it’s worth the entrance fee to get in. One day on a weekday after work I went there and there was no one at the gate so I went right in. I was surprised. There were more deers than people. There’s a long loop of nice gravel trail for walking and biking. Plenty of picnic tables around too. Drive right into it there is a visitor centre and washrooms and parking lots.

The national park is not far away and nice that all islands are connected! We visited by bike two of the islands and saw different wildlife in the water and on land. It was quiet and relaxing and lots of space ! The trails were well maintained and not full of people or bikes.

This park is always pleasant quick trip if you leave around Montreal. Nice trails for walks or bike rides and easy access to the lake for water activities like kayak. Access to the park lately has been hard because of the tunnel renovation so check the traffic before you go.

Yelp
First of all the ferry to the Boucherville Islands park is ridiculously cute and I love it. It's a small bike ferry, a short ride on the water over to a peaceful haven blowing with tall grasses. We biked here from out in Mile End so after a hectic ride through the city, arriving on this island was heaven. It's deeply peaceful and really really fun to ride around on, amazing bike paths rolling through quiet trees and protected, diverse nature. People are here fishing, walking, kayaking and generally relaxing. I didn't find any earth shattering views or anything like that, but a real sense of peace really close to the heart of the city.

Yelp
I went to the parc with friends on a day where the entrance was free. In the winter this parc isn't the most fabulous. I've been in the warmer months and there was much more to see and do. Great parc to spot Virginia deer.

Yelp
Came to play frisbee golf. A great free course in a beautiful parc. Free parking too which is a bonus.

Yelp
Montreal's best kept National Park secret only minutes away from downtown Montreal and worth the trip. Park is accessible by ferry or car, and once there you can rent bikes or kayaks. Bike rentals are about $30 so if you bring your own, you will save some money. Check Park Entrance Fee, but I think it was about $8 per person and totally worth it. They do an excellent job of maintaining this park. Absolutely beautiful setting that one cannot believe is only minutes from Montreal. You can bike between the 3 islands, and there are beautiful quiet spots en route to picnic, or just relax in the hammocks. Their new welcome center is beautiful and a great stop for food, water, bathrooms or just AC. The bike and kayak rental is directly across. My only complaint here and at most national parks is WHY a country that loves the outdoors and animals - does not allow us to bring our dogs with us on the hike.
