We had a wonderful time, both in terms of the food and the overall experience. The service was friendly and efficient. The dishes were all delicious, freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The flavours were perfectly balanced. For those who don't know what a "bouillon" is, it's technically a restaurant that offers a small seasonal menu at reasonable prices, where the cuisine and preparation are truly excellent, without being pretentious. Yesterday, our expectations were exceeded, as the food, setting and service were all above our expectations.

Google
American tourist working remotely from Paris - this restaurant is GORGEOUS and reliable with excellent/superior food and great attention to food allergies. The manager who waits on me is wonderful - couldn't ask for better - especially for the Monday-Friday Formula Midi price!

Google
We love this place. The decor is absolutely stunning, the service is terrific, and the food is delicious. We’ve been multiple times and recommend it to anyone who goes to Paris. We’ve made reservations and we did see some people turned away in a Monday night. Definitely try the floating island dessert.

Google
We had the formule midi, which was a great value and very delicious. Everyone enjoyed their mains and desserts (no one chose a starter). We also ordered coffee and wine and this was good quality as well Staff were very kind to us, and were especially sweet to our young daughter, who was anxious about being in a place where she cannot speak the language. This was appreciated as it helped her to enjoy the dining experience more. The dining room was as beautiful as one might expect from the photos and reviews. We will gladly return the next time we are in Paris!

Google
This is a beautiful setting for a restaurant. Built during the art nouveau period it is a wonderful evocation of the era. The food was good but the Floating Island dessert was a knockout. There were lots of Parisians dining and it well known in the Latin quarter as it has been for over 120 years. A nice slice of historic Paris to experience at an ok price.

Google
On a Saturday evening we went inside at 7:30 without reservations and the manager kindly accommodated us downstairs for 4. The food is very nice and beautiful, but typical and very savory. Everyone was very kind. We stayed for 1.5 hours but didn’t feel rushed. The deserts were wonderful too. The art nouveau decor is wonderful to view. We will be back!

Google
Your typical Parisian bistro but this one dates from 1906 and has the architecture and beautiful colors of the Klimt era. The menu du jour for lunch is always an excellent value. The lamb and buratta were fantastic and, we enjoyed the whole experience.

Google
Absolutely loved our experience at Bouillon Racine! The food was delicious — especially the snails, which were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. The service was truly excellent — attentive, kind, and professional. The stunning Art Nouveau interior added a special charm to the whole experience. A true Parisian gem — highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic French cuisine with outstanding service!

Yelp
The food was excellent (except the café gourmand - a little miserable) The service was good - 4 stars The ambiance was good if you like noise and crowds. A lot of tourists. A little pricy for a Bouillon.

Yelp
We came here for a nice French dinner and it exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional, full of flavor, and the ambience was phenomenal. It was a packed restaurant and the service was very good as well. Would definitely go again!!

Yelp
Bit annoying as when got sat down upstairs got told we would need to leave by 3 and if wanted to stay longer needed to sit downstairs. The hostess should have asked us that before taking us upstairs. The chicken was average. The gallantine crab was cold but crabby. Best to come during lunchtime Monday through Friday when offer the 19 euro formule. On weekends there is no formule or meal of the day. Place is very pretty inside.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have had in Paris. This is a beautiful restaurent with long history. We had a reservation for 12:30pm, we were given a nice table by the window. The server was very nice. We had escargot, it was very large and tasty. For main course, we had Cuisse de canard confite with beans, so good, my favorite! The dessert of the day was incredible: Pavlova: it was fresh strawberry on marron, a bit had different textures, freshness, creaminess and crunchiness. We had an incredible dining experience here! Great food, great service at a beautifully decorated environment. Can't wait come back.

Yelp
I added BR to my Paris hit list for their crème brûlée but ended up eating lunch here. We were not disappointed. BR has a very tasty set lunch menu you can take advantage of. My wife and I both ate an appetizer, main dish, and shared a dessert. The bread that accompanied our appetizer was very good and came out warm. The sweet potato soup was very tasty. While it is slightly spicy, most people should be able to handle it. My wife ordered the beef and I ordered the chicken. The beef was the best but the chicken was also very good. For dessert we had their créeme brûlée which was okay. On our CB scale we rated it a 6 out of 10. It is perfectly fine but didn't have that extra something to make it special. The service was wonderful! Staff speak great English and accommodated our baby/baby items without any issues. The baby also enjoyed the decor and mirrors all over the restaurant. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean! I would surely suggest a visit for lunch.

Yelp
Went for lunch - what a gorgeous place! Original Art Deco decor from the turn of the 20th century. The set menu was very good - classic dishes perfectly done. The service was also perfect. Don't miss this Paris institution!

Will C.

Yelp
Great restaurant in a beautiful 1906 Art Noveau building. Great food beautifully presented. Our wait person was excellent and her recommendations were uniformly excellent. The lunch fixed menu price was reasonable too.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the poulet fermier which is chicken raised outdoors with a natural type of diet. The dish was quite underwhelming. This type of chicken is twice the price or more than the industrial raised chickens in the supermarkets and is usually delicious. It has a strong chicken taste, this one did not. The wine was excellent. I should have had the steak. Probably won't return as it is a fairly expensive restaurant with not a good chicken dish.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
The food was incredible! The service was amazing! The ambiance was classic antique French decor! This place makes me wish I lived in Paris!
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
A little pretentious. The food is nothing special. If you're thinking about going, get a reservation because they're turning walkins away at the door. It is popular. But I think there are a lot better places in the neighborhood. Not much more to say about it.
google avatar

Jenna C.

Yelp
Underwhelming to say the least. Limited menu and no cocktails (bottom shelf liquor i.e. Smirnoff is their only vodka). Staff was nice but food was average for the price. Not a vibe for young people whatsoever. Would not go back or recommend. And they stole my cigarette I left on the table (and came back for). Look elsewhere.

Yelp
Fancy fancy! Overall, this restaurant had good food, a beautiful interior and an exceptional creme brulee. This is actually what I remember most! The top cracked beautifully and the cream was luscious. The place also offered an extensive wine list, which we were very pleased to sample lol I'd recommend coming here with reservations like we did, as it appears it can get quite busy! Also, don't expect service to be like in the U.S. - French waiters are different!
google avatar

Ed B.

Yelp
Overall pretty good meal. The service was a bit too quick at times but was attentive nonetheless. Definitely worth it for a good meal in a great setting.
google avatar

Eva G.

Yelp
I still remember the soup of the day -- cream mushroom soup here that was out of this world. Very cute restaurant with a mom and pop feel. The duck was also delicious!
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
Another popular tourist spot. There were people waiting outside and at the bar but most were seated within 45 minutes. Everyone speaks English here so it is very easy to order. The food is average tasting. Nothing exceptional or memorable but it is a safe choice (there are some really bad tourist spots out there). I can't recommend going here considering all the amazing food in Paris but if you find yourself in the area and no place to eat, this is safe. The service is really slow though but grab a bottle of wine and relax.

Jim W.

Yelp
Had reservations at what was recommended as a true Paris restaurant. Well have been to Paris a number if times and this was the Worst in terms of service and mediocre in terms of food. Sat down, ordered drinks and there eventually got there 30 minutes after the order and 5 minutes after the food, which was lukewarm, arrived. Asked to speak to the manager two times and as i am writing this and waiting for the bill, he/she has yet to materialize. Find somewhere else, even the McDonald's down the street, if you want anything resembling service.

Yelp
Tough call. Some of the best food I've eaten in Paris accompanied by the WORST service. I'll start with the good. I usually hate Gazpacho but theirs was beyond tasty. It has seriously made me reconsider disliking it in the first place. Next, the duck. Wow. If you've eaten duck before, you know, it can be greasy and gamy. Not this duck. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. The crème brulee was the BEST I've ever had-- light, creamy, with a perfect crisp on top. My waiter was a jerk. After he decided to make fun of my party for being American and mispronouncing some items, ... I forgave. (Hey... they were trying and being gracious guests in his country.) He then seemed off put when we wanted to order more wine, order a variety of cocktails, and spend more money... I forgave. But when he had an exchange with us and said some shitty things in French that myself and another friend in my group who speaks perfect French heard, we'd had enough. I watched him go over to another waiter across the room and laugh as he was looking in our direction. No doubt he was recounting how he just insulted us without us knowing.... or so he thought. I glared at him and mouthed some well intended words to him. When he attended us further, I let him know his behavior was foul and unacceptable and if he didn't want to serve paying customers, he should look for another job or perhaps he needs to take up his displeasure to work with his boss. But treating us poorly was not an option. He seemed shocked and somewhat humbled to get caught. We resumed our meal and went on our way. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, and as stated above has delicious food. It does not have AC so be prepared. It gets hot during the summer months.

Yelp
Good classic French preparation and good atmosphere. Our party were quickly served and accommodated even at last minute notice. The waiter was very helpful in explaining options and making recommendations for a few confused Americans. LOL. Overall the food offerings (newly revised menu). Our party tried various items including the Ribeye, Pork Ribs, Veggie plate and Roast Sea Bass (amazing btw!) All and all excellent preparations, great atmosphere and reasonable prices will definitely pay a second visit upon my return
google avatar

Elvin K.

Yelp
I would say this is a pretty good restaurant. The main course was steak with mashed carrots and the flavor was pretty good. The waiters were decently accommodating too. Why only 3 stars then? Well for one it seems my vegetarian friends were kind of disappointed. My appetizer, which was a Risotto, was their main dish and it wasn't all that impressive. Also, the crème brûlée was exceedingly sweet to the point that some of us couldn't take more than a few bites. I personally had a decent experience, but my other friends didn't so it lost a few points there. However, if you are not vegetarian, I would recommend trying his place out.

Yelp
Quintessential Parisian Art Nouveau cafe. Stop here for the ambiance, decor and a bit of time travel as this shimmering and faded Bohemian green and gold establishment dates back to 1906. Is it possible that I am giving 5 stars for decor alone? Sorry, it really can't be helped. Stop in here and you will feel like you died and went to la Belle Epoque. This was an afternoon stop for us, so our experience reflects tea, rather than dining. We stopped in here on a very cold February afternoon after walking miles around Paris, and what we needed was a respite. At Bouillon Racine, we got just that. A good service experience in a refined historic setting that included belgian beer on tap, cheese plates and for the kiddos, a generous, elegant cardamom hot chocolate that the adults were drooling over. Bliss!

Yelp
Went in just before 17:00 on a Sunday, only a few tables in so got sat right away. Service personnel was good with English and very friendly. Service overall was a bit on the slower relaxed side, not her fault at this point she was running around doing a lot of set up. Ordered the beef soup with chicken to start, it was tasty, vegetables were nice and fresh. Had the Risotto with scallops and prawn, was cooked nicely, but nothing spectacular, in fact I would almost go for giving the main dish 3 stars, the serving I got did not even look like the ones in the pictures other guests have gotten. It seems they have got the cooking and taste down, but just seems like this just pump it out without soul if you get what I mean. As some reviewers have mentioned you can get better food with that "soul" elsewhere nearby and in the same price range. If it was just on the food I would give this place a three and a half, but the friendly service, and the beautiful setting bumped it to a five. I would not go out of the way to go there, but if you are in the area, and want decent food, I wouldn't give it a miss either.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
Average food at this particular price point. The quinoa salad is a safe bet, however we did not care for the foie gras (very possibly just personal preference). I enjoyed the sea bass but my friend's duck was overcooked and tough. Despite this, our main complaint was the service. Our server was completely inattentive and it really put a damper on the experience.

Peter H.

Yelp
The creme brûlée was horrible! Didn't taste good at all! It was watery and the consistency was sickening.
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
Great food. Obviously not Michelin star, but still great food to check out for moderately priced options. Escargot was awesome! Creme brûlée waffle was superb. I also had a chocolate cake with hazelnuts that was great as well. For my entree, I had the special of end day which happened to be a steak with creamed potatoes. Tasty overall and would go back again.

Yelp
Ooooooooh was my first thought when first walking into this restaurant. This is one classy, unique and beautiful establishment. The decor is hard to describe, but it's something like a fancy European antique ice cream parlor. The food however, I wasn't blown away with... disappointing, right, because in Paris I automatically have higher standards for food. I ordered the foie gras, duck confit with ratatouille and fish soup. The foie gras was just fine, duck was good as well, but I did not like the ratatouille. Maybe I just haven't had enough ratatouille but it just tasted a little boring. The fish soup was really good and it came with shredded cheese. Honestly, I wouldn't come back here for the food, but because the decor is so cool I would definitely bring a friend here for fun. Three stars for the food, and five stars for the decor.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
The fish was made perfectly! Love the decorations and interior but no AC. On a 34c day, and on the second floor, it was hard to enjoy the food. More rose please!

Yelp
Not sure why, but my original review got deleted... I was here in May 2019 with my mother. I'm a patient person and can deal with subpar service, but the food was awful. The sides seemed reheated from the day before. We did go for an early dinner, so maybe we got yesterday's leftovers. My steak was bland and the escargot had broken shells which were unpleasant to chew on. Finally, at dessert, my mom specified that rather than the trio of sorbet flavors offered, she just wanted raspberry. They brought her just the one scoop but later that evening when I looked at the receipt, I saw we were changed full price (8€ for three scoops). Insane. I felt taken advantage of as a tourist. Totally ruined what I hoped would be a special dinner in Paris with my mom.
google avatar

Alexis C.

Yelp
We ordered escargot. We ordered various entrees (filet, scallops, duck con feit). Everything was amazingly delicious. The staff was wonderful. The atmosphere was historic and ornately beautiful.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
Great Duck!! We had the escargot to begin with and the waiter suggested a local Pinot it was delicious with our appetizers . We were seated quickly and the wait staff was very attentive.
google avatar

Floranne P.

Yelp
Charming old world decor was stunning! The food was beautifully prepared and flavorful. Our group of six shared so we had a taste of many dishes. Escargot was perfection. A creamy rich cold soup of avacado and spinach was delicious. Entrees of roast lamb, pork chop, sea bass and the filet mignon were expertly cooked and seasoned. The positive comments about the crem brûlée inspired us to order dessert and it was my favorite. We will probably return tomorrow night!
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Great experience and made friends the two cute guys sitting next to us. Very crowded but fantastic food! Tourists and local people go there. Definitely recommend.

Kim S.

Yelp
Find someplace better. Average at best food. The ribeye for two was overcooked and tough to chew. Scallops were chewy and the sides were entirely forgettable. Starters and dessert were hit and miss. The service was slow and the server was rude, dismissive and unhelpful. I guess trying your best with high school French isn't good enough for them. With so many wonderful dining options in Paris, don't waste your time here.
google avatar

Pauline F.

Yelp
Excellent. I was looking forward to eating here on my first night in Paris and was not disappointed. The service and ambiance were wonderful and the food delicious. Lovely meal with wine for less than 50 euros. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Julia W.

Yelp
We tried Bouillon Racine by chance and had the best meal during our stay in Paris. The decor could not be more beautiful - it's worth the trip by itself. The service was impeccable. Everyone was quite accommodating, professional and nice even though we did not have a lunch reservation or speak French. (The place was PACKED right after we were sat - so maybe reservations might be wise.) There were only a few waiters, so lunch took awhile, but that happened at a few places we dined - not for a quick bite. The food was amazing. The soups are the real thing. Best French onion soup of my life, and my husband loved the vegetable soup as well. Not to be missed, as this is why the restaurant was started was on their soups. My husband had the bone marrow and duck confit and said it was the best he'd ever had. The desserts were great as well - stewed apples in gingerbread was delicious - and their ice cream selection was the tops! Go! You won't be disappointed!

Oliver L.

Yelp
An excellent authentic French restaurant. Tried the duck confit and dessert du jour, which happened to be an almond tart. The duck was absolutely fantastic - tender and flavorful, with a crisp skin, and served with sautéed potatoes that were deliciously seasoned. Dessert was also delicious as well; the almond tart was flaky and rich, yet not overly sweet. Moderately priced, friendly and accommodating service despite my rusty French, and superb food - what more could you ask for?
google avatar

Warren C.

Yelp
This was by far the best meal I've had in Paris. We showed up without reservations and they found us a table quickly. The ambiance and decor is wonderful. The wine list is great - had a nice Brouilly Beaujolais at a very reasonable price. We ordered the stake tartare as an appetizer to share between us. The bread was really good too. For the main course, I had the Colombo Poulet while my date had the Beef Sate. Both were excellent. For dessert, I had the most amazing creme brûlée EVER. I still am thinking about that creme brûlée. I would definitely go back, and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody I know!
google avatar

Ivan S.

Yelp
Terrible service. We were 7 in a party. Two of us ordered the dish of the day. Midway through dinner they told one of us that they run our of the main dish of the day. The other person found herself without dinner. The waiter didn't even bother to apologize. He apparently expected one of us not to eat at all. About the worse we had in Paris.
google avatar

Bony K.

Yelp
My cousin who lived in Paris wanted to try this place out for dinner together. The food I thought was reasonably price in terms of quality and ambiance. The location is not for people watching, but for the decor since it is unique and rare. My group tried the meal combination from the appetizers, entree along with dessert. There wasn't much talking once we received our food thus that was a sign the food was that good. The wine was reasonably priced as well.
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
4.5 because I have to save 5 for simply fabulous.... One of my favorite places to go in Paris and it still is great. I highly recommend to give it s shot if you are in the quartier Latin.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
As a number of the other reviews mention this was our 'French' meal during this last trip to Paris. We joined my wife's parents on a jaunt through the city, so this was a family evening. The decor really adds to the experience. You have the option of sitting upstairs or downstairs, both look very enjoyable. We sat upstairs near a window. A brief rain brought in a fresh, cool, July air. Our food was well prepared from start to finish. The mixed drinks were passable but not memorable. I would stick to the wine menu. My only negative comment would be related to our waiter who was generally inattentive and appeared to have a much better place to be than keeping glasses full. Regardless, if you're looking for a 'French' evening put Bouillon Racine on your list.
google avatar

E M.

Yelp
I'm glad we tried Bouillon Racine. The room is beautiful and the service was wonderful. We reviewed the menu on-line prior to making reservations. All the items on the menu sounded really good. We ordered a few starters such as the pea soup with mint which was very tasty and equally as good was the pork terrine and escargot. For the entree we ordered the grilled sardines, the duckling and the stuffed spit roasted suckling pig. Again, everything was good, especially the duck. Unfortunately the sardines and the suckling pig did not come close to the description given in the menu. I think the suckling pig would have been much better if the skin came out crispy with a thin layer of fat between the meat the the skin. The desserts were great. We had the trio of chocolates and the apple tart. Overall I would still recommend Bouillon Racine. The ambiance is very Parisian and the food is good.
google avatar

Lucienne D.

Yelp
Love the feel of this place...Art Nouveau decor with an Edith Piaf kind of vibe. Sat.nights here are beautiful, with moody lighting, mostly couples, and long waiting lines. Sunday is a different kind of thing. Was thinking how much fun it would be to do a Sunday Blues brunch with live music. Its just that kind of place. Cocktails are pretty strong, wine list is pricey though some good wines by the glass can be had for 14 E to 18E, including decent champagne. The pate' is silky and robust, the steak and chicken are both well prepared, but you have to ask for mashed potatoes on the side. They are great, (if you like cardamom), but not included on a lot of entrees. Desserts are very good, though coffee is kind of bland.
google avatar

Bacchus P.

Yelp
The restaurant is in an original Art-Déco ambient from the early 20th. Filled with tradition and savoir-faire you will travel in time to la Belle-Époque. I had the menu with crab as entrance, filet and for desert the Chocolate Dome. The filet was perfectly coocked and the Dome was served with fraisine and gold. Delicious! I would have given it 5 stars but the service was a bit too relaxed and missed explanations when the dishes were served. I highly recommend to double check when you make a reservation, we had a minor missunderstabding which ended up perfectly thanks to the receptionist. Both floors are spectacular.
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
The food was delicious and very elegantly prepared. The service was exceptional, we didn't experience any rudeness or issues because we are American. I thought it was moderately priced and the decor is beautiful. We loooooved the creme brûlée. It was perfect.

Austin Y.

Yelp
Loved the elegant old-school decor, complete with green and white checkered tile walls and beautiful mirrors, but unfortunately the decor was more memorable than the food. A chestnut velouté was decent, but very heavy on the cream and light on the chestnut flavor. My confit de canard was forgettable, the meat was quite tender but the skin was soggy in places, not crispy or crunchy enough, a bit underseasoned. Garnish of shredded red cabbage was similarly underseasoned. Crème brulée was average, again pretty unmemorable.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant in a very charming area of the city. Classically French menu. However, poor ventilation on hot summer evening really detracted from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Ajay K.

Yelp
Excellent food with very reasonable prices for what you are getting. The quinoa citrus salad was unique and very refreshing, the pumpkin soup was bowl-scrapingly good, and the razor clams super tasty. For mains we had the cote a beouf which was delicious with au gratin potatoes as well as sea bass and scallops. But make sure to save space for the creme brûlée stuffed waffle well-worthy of oohs and aahs with every bite!

John N.

Yelp
This is reliably good French food with some nice variation and choices: curry chicken and rice; foie gras; boeuf bourguignon; etc. The curry was excellent. Bourguignon tasty. Foie just okay. The wine (red) was warmer than it should be. Kitchen temp rather than cellar temp or room temp. Modest pour as well. A bit over priced for what it offers.

Jerusha M.

Yelp
I took my two teenage sons here a few weeks ago and it was the most amazing dinner we have ever had. It was recommended by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. Amazing wine selection and the food was superb. Please don't hesitate to book a reservation here. If I ever make it back to Paris I will definitely eat at this restaurant again.
